Spicy stir fried pork and pork bone soup lunch combos ($9.99 each)
    Tasha C.

My friend and I were craving some Korean for lunch, but wanted to check out someplace new. We'd pulled into the Kimbab Cheonguk parking lot and were debating between that and our usual Bukjang when Yewon caught our eye. Their lunch specials seemed like good value so we decided to give it a try. I got the Gamjatang and my companion went with the Spicy Pork on Rice, both $9.99. Banchan arrived first and included the usual kimchi, beansprouts, and kelp salad. Everything tasted fairly standard but non-offensive, and bottomless refills were a nice touch. Our entrees came out shortly and we were both very pleased with the portion sizes. My pork bone soup came with three huge pieces of meat that were perfectly cooked. I barely had to pull at the meat before it fell off the bone, but I do wish the broth had more depth. It would be nice if they could incorporate more perilla leaves into the flavour to offset the fattiness of the meat. My friend also enjoyed his spicy pork on rice. However, they aren't too heavy handed with the spice here and we both found his sauce could've used more of a kick. Side note that they only serve purple rice here, which I personally really like as it has more of a nutty, earthy flavour. The food here is satisfying but nothing too exceptional. I'd come back, but there are plenty of amazing options in the area that I prefer.

This is something worth going to for a comfortable korean food. I got the japchae which is quite good actually. The jajangmyeon wasnt so bad. I personally love the fried chicken especially the soy sauce. The spicy is okay. The boneless bits was deep fried splendidly. The soy sauce though was good. Recommended since kimbab was closed already. Cheers! I hope this feedback helps!

Makguksu - Spicy Cold Noodle 10/10!!!! Perfect for the summer. Chewy buckwheat noodles in a cold sweet&tangy soup with pork meat and eggs. Fried Chicken - Half 3/5 Not the best. Too much deep fried batter that feels like it takes up most of its content. Plus it feels like a 'jip' when the Original Fried Chicken (Half) is 12.99 & the Fried Chicken with SpicySweet sauce is 13.99 but if you order the Original Chicken and request for the sauce on the side it's 12.99 + $3.00 for the sauce. ‍‍

This is probably my favourite Korean restaurant in town!! We had the fried chicken both spicy and regular and it was impeccable!! The service was speedy and we were treated very well. I definitely recommend you check out this warm family owned restaurant.

A crunchy appetizer (on the house).

Really slow. Fried chickens were not hot anymore. Very dry and chewy. The worst fried chicken ever. Very disappointed.

The staff were nice, the karaoke machine was easy to navigate, and the rooms were comfy. Also the FOOD, omg!! Best food and drink options I've had at a karaoke place so far. My friends and I split some fried rice, salt and pepper popcorn chicken, and deep fried buns with condensed milk. I also got an iced mango black tea. It all hit the spot. I can't wait to come back and bring more friends!

This was my first time here and I'm happy they have the all you can sing deal~ it's a good deal only from Monday to Thursday from 2pm-7pm it's $10/person! We definitely sang the whole time so worth it! They have a pretty good music selection, the system is easy to navigate and seems to download songs and have up to date music and music videos although some were kinda weird but not too old and good quality! We mostly sang a lot of kpop, yup they can satisfy all your kpop needs.. if you are a fan of BTS, look no further because they had 14 pages of bts songs... I think that's the most I've seen at any karaoke place so that was quite impressive. Albeit some of those songs were in Japanese version and I would have liked the original Korean version, but at least they also have the most up to date songs so I was very pleasantly surprised! I like the decor outside in the hallway and the rooms are quite simple. Not much special inside the room, what sucks is seeing people walk by in the hallway when I had a side room. Also it's very very cold here, my hands were freezing, I think their AC system is pretty strong so you need a jacket for sure. It's tough to just sit there and be cold and sing your heart out while you are cold but at least they give you water to soothe the throat, which is cold water... it's a nice gesture! The mics are also cordless which was nice and they provide a cover for the mics which is good. I am impressed by the music they had and it was lots of fun to sing k again, especially it's not super busy here which is great. Just a few things they could improve on like making it less cold in there but anyways I hope they keep this deal going!

There's free parking outside, just register your license plate when you enter the building. I went with 2 other friends on a Saturday night. The place was pretty full but we got lucky and only had wait a few minutes for a table. It was decently loud inside but it was still easy to have a conversation. The waitress we got was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items. I'm also super envious of her memory because there's no way I can remember who had which drink without writing it down for so many tables throughout the night!!! My friend also asked for a drink recommendation for the last round and she gave a great one. There's a lot of selection for drinks, as well as food. I really like their shared plates of finger food like tater tots and onion rings. My fish and chips were also very good. The table beside us ordered nachos and it looked huge and very delicious.

Aside from the time warp location, the food is easily 4*s, and honestly, I'd say it's better than White Spot as a comparable. The clubhouse sandwich contained actual turkey breast, not the deli turkey breast slices a lot of places use. That's an easy win right there. Very reasonable pricing to boot! It's basically a sports bar/pub grub menu set up. Pool tables as well. Lighting is on the darker side, with friendly and courteous service. They chat with you since they're curious as to how you know about the place. It's definitely not on too many peoples' radar for sure. They seem to like their hockey, as there are a couple of jerseys hanging. Guy Lafleur, Paul Henderson's autographed jersey from the Summit Series 1972, and a couple of others. Located in the basement of the Lougheed Village Mall, which is literally the Land that Time Forgot. I'm not exaggerating. Come and have a look for yourself. Free validated parking if you eat here. Recommend that you go for a stroll in the upper and lower levels and the courtyard whilst you're here. Maybe come in the evening during Halloween. You won't need to spook yourself out at a graveyard. This mall will suffice you plenty.
