Great place for drinks and hanging out with friends! Really fun, older vibe. The people we sat by were all really nice and even offered us their pool table that they had paid for but didn't end up using. There's free parking outside, just register your license plate when you enter the building. I went with 2 other friends on a Saturday night. The place was pretty full but we got lucky and only had wait a few minutes for a table. It was decently loud inside but it was still easy to have a conversation. The waitress we got was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items. I'm also super envious of her memory because there's no way I can remember who had which drink without writing it down for so many tables throughout the night!!! My friend also asked for a drink recommendation for the last round and she gave a great one. There's a lot of selection for drinks, as well as food. I really like their shared plates of finger food like tater tots and onion rings. My fish and chips were also very good. If the X-Files was still being filmed, they should have done an episode here and with the surroundings of the upper and lower levels of the Lougheed Village Mall. Aside from the time warp location, the food is easily 4*s, and honestly, I'd say it's better than White Spot as a comparable. The clubhouse sandwich contained actual turkey breast, not the deli turkey breast slices a lot of places use. That's an easy win right there. Very reasonable pricing to boot! It's basically a sports bar/pub grub menu set up. Pool tables as well. Lighting is on the darker side, with friendly and courteous service. They chat with you since they're curious as to how you know about the place. It's definitely not on too many peoples' radar for sure. They seem to like their hockey, as there are a couple of jerseys hanging. Guy Lafleur, Paul Henderson's autographed jersey from the Summit Series 1972, and a couple of others. Located in the basement of the Lougheed Village Mall, which is literally the Land that Time Forgot. I'm not exaggerating. Come and have a look for yourself. Free validated parking if you eat here. Recommend that you go for a stroll in the upper and lower levels and the courtyard whilst you're here. Maybe come in the evening during Halloween. You won't need to spook yourself out at a graveyard. An unfortunate series of events.... we booked The Village Pub over 3 months ago after being encouraged to do so by the manager for my retirement. We invited the Burnaby School Board staff and had 50 - 60 people booked. We checked in a month before the event.... no problem. Two weeks before the event we went over with our updated numbers and were informed that if there was a hockey game we couldn't go. A stressful moment to say the least.... we had 60 people booked! We were surprised no one contacted us to let us know.... if we hadn't gone in we wouldn't have been informed. It turned out hockey wouldn't conflict.... thankfully. Then we were told (after being offered to use it) we couldn't run our power point on the screen. At the end of the event I went to thank management for making an effort to make us happy after the things that happened and when I started to bring up what happened with the intent to make suggestions for future ways to avoid unhappy people, I got yelled at and told to leave. Not good business at all! I wouldn't recommend the Village Pub... the management clearly doesn't care about the customers viewpoint.... Or the stress they put customers through.... We got table we order beer .when other friends show up one of our friend had issues with manager (Dean) about intering the pub .i can't belive it .he was telling our friend you are layer and try to sneak in the bup he mention to him no we have already table reserved i am just joining them ""(cod) .after 5 minut he comes to us he try to order the manager came to us saying please pay the bills and leave the pub because we are in maximum capacity. if you are in max capacity why you let people come to the bar let them order the beer after 30 minut you asking them to pay the bills and leave. are you crazy or you have personal issue with us or you have racism problem . I was expecting a higher level of service and professionalism from the management team, especially given the reputation of your establishment. The ladies room decor matches the basic basement feel of the entire bar. There's 2 stalls and 2 sinks that are uncomfortably close together. Adequate lighting and TP in the stalls, but the entry way is pitch dark and makes it dank. Good there's a full length mirror. Overall, cleaner than expected. 3 out of 5 flushes. read more

My boyfriend and I were left last minute cancelled plans and were looking for something to do short notice on a stat holiday. I thought it would be fun to play some pool or something and found this place by doing a google search. We came here after dinner just to play some games and have some beer. Bottom line: come here for the pool tables and other game selections, but don't expect good beer quality. I can't speak to the food quality since we didn't eat here. A more thorough review: The place is hard to find- if you only punch the address into your GPS there is NO WAY you would even know it's here. Thankfully, their website has detailed directions which made it easy. This has an old school dive bar vibe but is full of games- pool, air hockey, darts and shuffleboard are all available on a First come first serve basis- all that's required is a $10-$20 CASH deposit which of course you get back afterwards. Alternatively, you can play arcade games which are coin-operated. It seems to be a popular place for pool, as when we arrived all of the tables were taken. However, we weren't even bothered because there are so many other options to entertain yourself! Our server was good at checking if we wanted anything else and was friendly enough to comment on the status of our shuffleboard game. My boyfriend ordered a Pabst Blue Ribbon and I ordered a Sleeman- both of which were watered down. We were overall pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere and will return again either on our own or suggest it to a group of friends for a chill night of games and drinks. Pros: - pool tables (I think there are 4 or 5) - darts - shuffle board - arcade games - service of staff was decent. Not fantastic but also nothing worth complaining about - hard to find. I have been a regular at this bar for over a year now. Went in there tonight, had a dinner and several pints of beer at the bar. Enjoyed conversations with my fellow bar flies at the bar (whom I have drunk with many times). Paid my bill at about 10:30 (with tip) and headed out to make sure I got to the cannabis store before it closed at 11:00 in Burquitlam. Decided to head back to the Village for one more pint on my way home. When I got there, they refused to sell me a beer, saying that I had been loud / obnoxious before. I hadn't been anything even approaching loud. I was very surprised to be honest. It was just plain weird. Such a shame. One of the few places to grab a beer and a meal in Burnaby these days. If you are Asian, don't come to there. The owner is so rude and discriminating ppl. Once they received bill and they will ask you leave ASAP. We stayed there for over 4 hrs and we ordered lots of food back and forth, but the staff's attitude is horrible. Although we showed our courtesy paying them 15% tips, but never thought about the owner came to us with angry face ask us to leave. The reason is we stayed there for too long. I told the owner some of our friends were just coming for half an hour and while they were still eating, but the owner said "I don't care, it is my bar I can do whatever I want". I will never come to this bar and recommend everyone especially if you are Asian NEVER EVER GO THIS PLACE. read more

This place is a breakfast gem! It's cheap, delicious and a good sized portion. They open pretty late though unfortunately (11:30-12pm, depending on the day) which is kind of frustrating if I want to eat breakfast in the actual morning. As for there lunch/dinner items, it's honestly a hit or miss depending on the day and what you're ordering. Decent place to drink and watch a game or a fight once you find it in the weird complex, but the food definitely leaves something to be desired. Food likes = hot wings and fries. Food dislikes = the fish and coleslaw from fish and chips and the suicide wings. The only thing suicidal about the wings is the amount of sodium they put on them, barely any heat to them at all. I couldn't even finish the wings because of the salt on them no matter how many beers I drank. Overall, the place is cool and decent drink prices, but the food I mentioned could be improved. This place has an old pub feel. Everything is wood. I mean they still have carpet on the floor. Good solid dive bar in Burnaby. They always have drink and food specials. The burgers are good here as are the fish and chips. The even have happy hour with food and drink specials at a great deal. If its a rainy day then you wouldn't know sitting down below. Love this place! Hard to find but worth the search and super convenient for transit. Cheap beer, food is mediocre and good daily deals. The prices and the bartenders are easy going and enjoy a conversation-or not. This is a cute little place - like a military bunker with alcohol, the Village Pub is a subterranean tavern underneath an appartment building (in my early twenties I would have thought this was living the dream - what? There's a pub in our building! Woop woop!) On Sunday nights they have bingo and it's pretty good value. Oh don't get all snobby about bingo - it's really fun and with the small nature of the venue you've got a better chance of winning a sizeable jackpot there than with the lotto or scratch cards. And the regulars are a hoot too. Pretty friendly on the whole, although some of the old ladies take the "bingy" very seriously so... Don't call out bingo unless you mean it, ok? I often stop in at the Village Bar and in the last year I have noticed a steady decline in the food and the service. This is coupled with a steady increase in prices for food and drink. I made a big mistake last Sunday; I went there for lunch. I ordered a small ginger ale and the lunch special which was a fried egg sandwich and broccoli cheese soup. after half an hour I enquired what had become of my order. The wait person produced a tale of woe about having only one cook and being the only one serving. Five minutes later it arrived. White bread (looked like Wonder loaf) and a fried egg and one slice of a tomato plus some lettuce...pretty crappy sandwich. The soup was not broccoli cheese but clam chowder...god help anyone with a seafood allergy. The bill was a stunner: $7 for the food and $3 for the ginger ale...plus tax and tip it as over $12. It could be a while before I go there for lunch again. read more

First off, good luck even finding the place. I'm so torn on how I feel about it, so this is a 2 and a half star review (Yelp = yet to accept the half star system). It's dark and uninviting, the dark part may be good because the food is par at best. If you like pool and being left alone then its great. Also if you were late getting to the pub in time for the big game or a UFC event etc etc, you are pretty much guaranteed a seat here. Don't expect good service because unless you are one of the sad looking regulars, you wont get it. I am pretty sure most of the customer base is the tenants that live above. Other than that prices are reasonable. So if your thing is to go get your lonesome on, grab some pull tabs and stare at the bottom of a pint in the dark for awhile. I gave it a realistic rating but in all honesty I love this place. My wife and I used to live right by it so we didn't have the probably most people did with finding it. We always thought it was funny watching cars going down the road and then turning around, we figured they were looking for the pub and gave up. At the bottom of one of the Lougheed Village towers, we would always entered from the public, half covered parking lot. The decor is clearly as old as the building, which is about early 80s. The service is slow even when it isn't busy. Although the food is average the value is there, drinks are reasonable and the food is cheap, cheaper with daily specials. The best parts are people watching, you definitely see some characters here. There are also lots of activities at this pub; Pool tables, a billiards table, shuffleboard, meat draws/bingo, "DJ"s. There are also off-sales in case it's closing time and you want to keep going. Now that we've moved we will miss the affectionately self titled pub "old dirty". Know what to expect when you're going and you should like it, but if you get your expectations up you will be disappointed. read more

First off finding this place is trouble. It took me forever since I've never gone before. Basically it's off Erickson and Cameron and inside some secluded strip mall. Near fitness 2000. Once I finally located it, it looked like a place frequented by locals. Pretty surprising there was as much people there as there was considering how hard it is to find. The crowd, not bad. We came there for New Years Eve and were blown away by the food. It was similar to a five star restaurant! We had the sirloin steak with shrimp Oscar which was cooked to perfection. We started with a green salad that came with a balsamic and oil dressing that wasn't too tart. The steak was accompanied with crisp asparagus and peppers and twice baked potato. Even under new management, this place continues to be dismal. Avoid at all costs. Service is poor. Food is bad and patrons get sick. Bartender is rude. Events start one or two hours after advertised. Parking is messed up and sometimes you have to pay twice. Decor is dingy and dark. Beer and other drinks are watered down. Two servers are not enough to cover crowded sporting events. after being there for 10 mins i had an epiphany. is this what its come to? in order to get there you walk down the hall of shame (if you can find it) to the front entrance of the pub. walking in you will experience its own vending machines that dispense "hot nuts" for a buck fiddy. in my opinion that is just disgusting. who knows how long these overpriced treats have been sitting there for. in the end of all, service was terrible and an eye sore, screens were good, fellow guests were an insult to mankind, and pitchers were 10 bucks. so it gets a 3.5 stars read more
