Outstanding camp for people of all ages! I went with a group of 5th graders for a 2-night stay. The camp staff was excellent and engaging. The food - yum!! Waaaay better than expected. Mother Nature, well she is the star of the show! The Arbuckle Mountains, situated about 1 hour south of Norman, have a diverse and interesting history that mesmerized me and the 10 and 11 year olds in our group. Beautiful waterfalls, different biomes, fossils and more! I highly suggest going to Camp Classen anytime you have the chance. They have so many activities from horseback riding, hiking, archery, challenge courses, canoeing and kayaking and more! Wonderful WONDERFUL experience! read more

FAMILY CAMP: I wish they would have told us about the MAJOR CONSTRUCTION going on inside the camp. My view was of 3 orange porta-potties and workers...not the pretty camp. My cabin had a yellow caution tape in front of it and we had to take detours through the cabin spaces to get to the shower area. We actually almost left when we first got there because of this. The workers started making noise at 7 am... Besides that major factor, the camp was fun. I attended "family camp". I was a little disheartened to learn that we couldn't swim whenever we wanted - we could only swim between 1-5 on the Saturday we were there. (We stayed friday night through Sunday morning). The counselors were fun and spirited, the food was actually good and had some healthy options with fresh fruit, salads, etc. Also, a good tip is that the coffee is made early (6ish) in the dining hall and you can go in there and get it before breakfast if you want. Also... the schedule needs to be more informative about times and places. We missed "arts & crafts" because the schedule said it meets in Griffith Lodge, and then no one was there when we went. It was a come & go activity, but apparently they MET in the lodge and then walked to the nature center for the arts & crafts, but no one was at the lodge to tell people this. Even a sign would have been good. Bring a reusable water bottle. They have jugs to refill it. Bring water shoes. The docks get very hot and the bottom of the lake is squishy. Bring a travel-lock or something to lock your door from the inside. No locks on the cabin doors. read more

Great camp, nice cabins that are not fancy but very functional, air conditioned, rest rooms are n the cabins, some have price showers. Most are set up in bunk bed design all wood with mattresses on each bunk. Great cold AC, with 110 electrical outlets, bright lighting, double sinks and toilets in each. They have done small cabins, or large cabins, and some family style cabins. They have family camping weekends and can set you up in a cabin that you can do all your cooking or with prior arrangement depending on if there's enough people booked they'll cook set menus for your large event or group. Events can include horse back riding, rock climbing, fabulous long difficult or short and easy shaded hikes with or without guide, archery, ga ha ball, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, biking, rock throwing at targets, informational nature shows, ancient fire starting classes, mountain biking in fabulous trails, water tower cliff diving, volleyball, and the list goes on and on and on. Fabulous fun. My son and I spent s week here with his sixth grade class and it rocked!! We felt like pampered mountain men. The staff are great! They are efficient, proactive, kind, so very patient, knowledgeable, and oh so enthusiastic. You and your family will love this place and you don't have to do a week you can just do a weekend. Start slow. Beds are comfy but I'm a big guy so I take a twin size memory foam and sleeping bag and memory foam pillow and sleep like a baby. You take your own bedding. You can also light camp fires for smores!! We've been coming here for years and will continue to do so! Great value, one week approximately 250 includes EVERYTHING. I went to this camp for five years. They were the five best summers of my life. The counselors care so much and all of the staff is wonderful. It's located on Lake Guy James, the water is always a good temperature and there's good fishing. The summer camp offers horse back riding, archery, riflery, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, a ropes course, they also have fun nights, such as a dance, girls night in, when the boys all go camping out side for the night and vice versa. The camp nurses are ready to attend to any medical situation, I had appendicitis there and they drove me to the hospital in Ardmore, the closest medical center. Every kid who attends Camp Classen makes great long lasting friends and has a great time. This is a place to learn about nature and Christian values, although you do not have to be Christian to attend. read more

I went to this camp when I was a kid. From about 1983/84 to about 1986/87. All that I remember was how much fun it was. The fishing, swimming, horseback riding, using the 22's. The archery. The food was filling but then I was always a picky eater. I made so many friends. It is well worth the money. read more

My son went here for the past 5 years. It was always a good experience for him and I as I was a single mom so I loved the fact he made new friends, etc. The first 3 years he was a camper then when he became 16 he went back as CIT. He was to stay a month for training but I was called on the 3rd week of camp to pick him up I was told him, 2 other CIT's and the counselor were smoking MARIJuANA so he was getting kicked out. They fired the counselor AUSTIN AKIN as he put the kids up to this. Camp let my son come back the following year as a volunteer since the boys would have not done such a thing if the counselor had not supplied drugs but as a volunteer your given free time which u can leave premises for 24 hours (I did not know this as a mom) the kids who volunteered were ages 15-20 went to Texoma for a overnight camping trip. These were boys and girls. I was called again to pickup my son as he was caught drinking at the lake by lake patrol. I have lost all faith in this so called "Christian camp" these kids were obviously drinking but what about driving, sex, drugs????? Wtg is camp classen thinking???? Im sooo furious as a mom read more
