Let's talk Sauna etiquette: When one belongs to an…read moreorganization and wants to use the sauna, would one use the sauna as you would a baby shower party or would you use the sauna-- keeping in mind that there are other people in the sauna with you, quietly? Is it polite to have a party in the sauna? Or is it polite to stay in your space and be respectful and considerate that there are other people in the sauna with you? Which is the proper etiquette for using the facilities at an athletic club? Today, at the YMCA in Hollywood, I had such a dilemma. I was sitting in there quietly, enjoying the heat, and the quiet, and the opportunity to do that. And in walk three women who proceeded to have a party in the sauna. There was loud conversation and cell phones with videos being played, and they were talking over one another like a hen party. I asked them politely if they could take their conversation to a restaurant, but not in the sauna and they refuse to. It ruined my time that I had set aside for a relaxing piece of sauna at the YMCA. They absolutely ruined the time that I set aside. Rude, inconsiderate and selfish. I don't want a bad experience like that again. But, how do you teach ignorant people etiquette?

Ok this is what a gym should be like!…read more Located in the Don Taft University center, the NSU RecPlex is 110,000 square feet of fitness bad-assness!!!! Want to lift weights? Sure! There are enough weights here for Arnold to train for Mr. Olympia - 2 complete racks of dumbells, 84 strength machines, and benches galore. Feel like some sports? No problem - 2 mulitpurpose courts for basketball or volleyball and 3 indoor racquetball courts. How about some cardio? You will NEVER wait for a machine with almost 100 pieces of cardio equipment. Feel like a swim? There's an outdoor pool that's heated in the winter, and access to the competition swimming pool that the NSU swim team uses. Oh and if that's not enough, there is a 2 story rock climbing wall and classes including yoga, spinning, and pilates. The best part? The price... If you are a student it's FREEEEEE (that's the least they can do for the tuition at Nova). If you are faculty/staff - $25 a month. BONUS - there is plenty of eye candy to be had here and the gym is nice and COLD. If you are a Nova student or staff, you would be a fool not to go here! If not, sorry NO SOUP FOR YOU!!

However, one can definitely bring a guest in for $10/day or $25 for three consecutive visits. I started to use this facility almost 3.5 years ago when I first started at the Nova Southeastern University. I actually came here on my day one to get used to the place. I have to say the students working here are incredibly sweet and will help you however they can. This gym is by far the best gym I have ever been to. They have state of the art equipments and are always renovating. Starting on the third floor you can find multitudes of treadmills, elliptical, stair masters and bikes. The restrooms are also on this floor. On the second floor all the way in the back you even have rooms to play squash. Next to the squash room, there is a designated room lined with huge mats where you can do ab workouts. They even have two cages where you can stretch pre and post workout. Speaking of workouts, on this floor they have everything from free weights, to multiple squat racks, to bench press, platform for deadlifts and tons of machines for weight lifting. There are also two basketball courts. You will also find water fountains at every corner. Finally on the bottom floor is where you have dance studio type rooms where they provide various workout classes ranging from yoga to boot camps. Don't forget to ask the front desk for a schedule as that changes semester to semester. All the way in the back of the main floor you can also find the locker room. Bring your own lock and you are allowed to use lockers that are open. They have restrooms in here too. As I said, this gym has it all. It's one of the best gyms I have ever used.

Very disappointing experience. I signed up because I was offered a promotion of two months for the…read moreprice of one with a $4 first month. However, I was later charged for both months and an annual fee of $65 before the two month promo period needed. When I questioned the charges, I was told that I should have read the contract, even though the promotion was presented very differently. The salesperson, Amir Emadian, told me that I had not been charged, but I later found charges on my account. I also experienced ongoing charges that were never clearly explained to me. They also told me I was never charged the first month $4 so they were charging the first month now at $144. I have multiple charges on my account from the day I signed up and it's only been one month. This place is a scam. I feel that the sales presentation was misleading and did not match what actually happened. I would strongly advise anyone considering joining to carefully review every document and closely monitor their bank account for unexpected charges.
