This pool is getting even MORE ridiculous Today they had 2 lanes reserved exclusively for swim lessons ...and nobody was taking a class.WTH?!?! They stayed vacant while the rest of us crammed into the remaining lanes YMCA management: _please make some changes _Allow ppl to swim in the lanes, if classes aren't going on This is getting silly

I've been a life long swimmer and since moving to SF a few years ago, I've been dying to find a decent pool and masters program. Halle-freaking-lueja! I recently found the Letterman Pool through the Presidio YMCA. This is one of the nicest indoor pools for the price in the northern 7x7. Unlike other gym-based indoor pools in the area, this one is clean, well staffed and well-maintained. The water was a perfect temperature and it wasn't too crowded after 7pm. The Masters program is posted on a white board and has had decent workouts that are both challenging and fun. The spa was also very clean and kept at a nice 104* for a post workout clense. The pool its self is 8 lanes by 25 yards with a wading pool and spa. The only drawback is that you have to be a YMCA member to use or pay a drop in fee.

Seems like a good place for kids' swim lessons. But don't try taking pictures of them while at it -- not allowed.

There is a steam room and a massage / spa attached. Lots of good things. The reason i rate this three stars is the multiple rude female trainers who will hog equipment for their clients (eg both sides of the cable machine when they can switch out attachments on the SAME cable between sets), not let you switch in, and can often be heard talking snark about random other people. Not to mention the ones hustling for new biz who will offer unsolicited "advice" which is either plain wrong or simply annoying. Staff are a big component to how a space feels. There used to be an amazing trainer couple - both of whom brought warm, helpful energy. They are gone and there is a lot of trainer turnover constantly. There are at least three female trainers who are unpleasant should you need to use a station in proximity. None of them even look fit or healthy which is the ultimate testament to whether you should take strength or fitness advice from someone.

These pods are probably around 12ftx12ft in size and include a squat rack, bench, and weights - really everything you need to have a great strength training workout. No sharing necessary! There are a handful of cardio machines - bikes, a treadmill, climbing thing - that are spread out, and I think free game for anyone's use. I don't often see many people using these though. Also, I don't really understand how the turf and outdoor area work and would appreciate some clarity there. It seems like those areas may be designated for personal training sessions? Reservations for the pods are in 1 hour increments. It's fairly easy to get a spot booked, especially if you're flexible with the time of day - mornings can fill up quickly. Overall, this gym has a great community feel. They even have a run club, which I haven't tried but am curious about. While I want everyone to know how great this spot is, I also am afraid of the hidden gem secret getting out!

High ceilings, dramatic lighting, and that historic vibe make workouts feel way less routine and a lot more motivating. That said, it does get very busy, especially during peak hours, so you may have to wait for equipment or adjust your workout a bit. It's also on the pricier side compared to other gyms, which is something to keep in mind. The main downside is the bathroom and locker area. The space is pretty small for how many members use the gym, and the amenities feel a bit limited given the cost. Overall, if you care about atmosphere and energy, this Crunch is a great option. Just be prepared for crowds and slightly cramped facilities.

We heard many of our co workers talking about Crunch Gym, so we headed over to see what was all the rage. Of course, we had to Waymo over, such an experience. Located on a busy street with many coffee shops, restaurants and bars in a safe neighborhood. Parking looks like it could be tough and expensive. An old movie theater turned into one ridiculously cool gym! Every piece of gym equipment you could think of and fully stocked towels that are open on the honor system. A young gentleman constantly cleaning all the equipment, vacuuming and wiping down all the surfaces around. We were there early morning and it wasn't crowded at all, so that was a plus. We could see it getting busy in the evening, for sure. Everyone was friendly, and the gym is really cool, three floors of weights, cardio and stretching areas. Also there is a room for classes and you must sign up for in advance as they book up quickly. Aside from the normal yearly membership, they do offer day/week/monthly passes to accommodate your fitness needs. If you're into watching movies while working out, one is always playing on the big screen. Pretty fun! Even if you're not into working out, poke your head in and take a peek! It's beautiful. Enjoy!

About two months ago, I joined SF Fitness because it's the only gym in my area with a swimming…read morepool. Even though the membership costs over $100 per month, and I knew I would only be able to use it a few times each month due to my schedule, I decided it was still worth joining so I could swim. Overall, I would rate the facility about 2.5 out of 5 stars. The staff does make an effort to keep the gym clean, but because it gets so busy, some areas can still be messy at times. The main reason I joined was for the swimming pool. Unfortunately, I found that the pool is almost always crowded. I tried visiting on different days and at different times, but most of the time all the lanes were occupied. Occasionally I could swim right away, but more often I had to wait anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes before a lane became available. However, the biggest reason I'm giving this gym only 2 stars has nothing to do with the pool--it's because of security and parking. My primary transportation is an electric scooter. I initially tried driving and parking in the garage, but I repeatedly experienced problems with the parking gate. On several occasions it took me 10-15 minutes just to leave because the security gate malfunctioned and someone from the Fillmore Center had to come reset it. It was frustrating, especially when I was in a hurry. Because of that, I started riding my electric scooter instead. I used it only three times. On my third visit, I locked my brand-new scooter with a $60 security lock to the bike rack directly in front of the main entrance, where people are constantly walking in and out. After my swim, I came back and my scooter was gone. I immediately reported the theft to the front desk. They told me they were not responsible and that I needed to contact Fillmore Center Security. When I contacted them, they said they first needed a police report before they could assist me. I went to the police station, filed a report, and returned with the paperwork. I then asked what they could do to help. They said they would review the security camera footage to try to identify the person who stole my scooter. Since it happened right at the main entrance, I believed the cameras would clearly capture the incident. I was then told to come back the next day to speak with the security manager, Sean. Unfortunately, he wasn't available. After several unsuccessful attempts, I finally obtained his direct phone number from the security department. I texted Sean multiple times explaining that my insurance company could not process my claim without the surveillance footage. He repeatedly told me he would send the footage to my insurance company. Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Despite his assurances, my insurance company never received anything. Eventually, my messages went unanswered. This was extremely disappointing because obtaining the footage should have been straightforward if the security cameras were functioning properly. Without that evidence, I couldn't complete my insurance claim for my stolen scooter. At that point, I decided to cancel my membership. Because of my busy schedule, my scooter is my primary way of getting to the gym. If I don't feel confident that it will be safe--or that I'll receive meaningful assistance if something happens--it's simply not worth the risk. After reading other online reviews, I realized I wasn't the only person who had experienced security-related issues at this location. That was even more discouraging. I'm not writing this review to discourage everyone from joining SF Fitness. If you walk to the gym or have another reliable way to get there, you may have a completely different experience. My purpose is simply to warn those who rely on electric scooters or bicycles as their primary transportation. Be aware of the potential risks, and understand that if your property is stolen, you may find it difficult to get the assistance or documentation needed afterward. I genuinely hope my experience helps others make an informed decision before joining.
