We had multiple challenges in the planning process, finally landed in an itinerary for which we bought most of the tickets, made most of our own excursion reservations because most what EE proposed was garbage. EE booked one excursion very important to our itinerary. With just a few weeks before our trip we learned they didn't book this important excursion and, to add insult to injury, our travel agent told us it could take 8 weeks for a refund- at least a month. This close to our travel dates it's impossible to secure tickets on our own (one of the most popular sites in Europe). Furthermore, in working with EE you will not receive an itemized statement, just a lump sum, so there's no transparency about what anything costs, including whatever we paid for their miserable service.

We ended up needing to come back a few days early because of the shut downs. The staff called us (after hours their time) and told us not to worry. They told us to get some sleep and they would let us know what our new itinerary was by morning, our time. Sure enough when we woke up, we had new plane tickets and even seat assignments. When we got to the airport, people were crying and freaking out because they could not get ahold of their airlines to change tickets and get back to America. We got to calmly sit and await our flight. We got home safely and easily and with no additional costs. We actually received refunds for days not spent in Europe.
