A small group of friends went and played Yocha Dehe the other day for a special occasion. Everyone in the group had played there, with the exception of myself. Everyone raved about how nice it'd be and couldn't wait to see for myself. The course and service did not disappoint. From the moment we checked in and throughout our visit, we received impeccable service. Despite it being winter (but no recent rain) the course was in great shape. With any upper tier course, cart and range balls were included in the rate. The cart was newer and had GPS which was extremely helpful for the round. Food and drinks were reasonably priced. The greens, fairways were in very good shape. Pace of play was pretty good, but we did battle the sunset due to a slow 4-some ahead of us that thought they were playing in some high-stakes match (maybe they were?). Upon completion of play, we were greeted just off the 18th green with a warm, damp towel to freshen up. One thing that's nice, the course is away from the casino/hotel so you don't have to deal with that while attempting to step away from that chaos. Overall wonderful experience. Late post because I forgot to check in while on the course. I was so excited to finally get a round in at this course. Simply amazing course! Worth every penny if it is not windy. From the practice facilities to the greens this place is PGA worthy! First tee box is 100+' above the fairway. Great way to start. Amazing clubhouse with no spared ammentities. Pristine condition to say the least. Lots of apparel and trinkets to choose from. Pulled up to the 18th tee box and was greeted by a staff member that cleaned our clubs and handed us chilled wash clothes as we exited the final hole. Pricey but worth every penny. Try and pick a day when it is not windy. Once it started it never let up. read more

Attended a "wedge clinic" at YDGC. First time ever setting foot on the course. Our short game instructor was Chris, Head Golf Pro. Small group setting- he worked with us on all things pitching and chipping. Bonus: we get a free Titleist or Callaway wedge of our choice... such a good deal. Chris was patient and easygoing. Worked on bump and run, short chips, pitching, bunker play. Only negative was the huge wind conditions this weekend. Course was stunningly green and wide open. Staff was hospitable and accommodating. I recently played at Yocha Dehe Golf Club, and the course itself was absolutely amazing. The conditions were excellent, the layout was beautiful, and overall it was one of the nicest courses I've played. Unfortunately, our experience was significantly affected by an employee also the starter. Throughout our interaction, he was rude and gave us a lot of unnecessary attitude. At one point, my friend lost his driver, and when we asked if we could try to retrieve it, Shawn initially would not allow us to. Although we eventually got the club back, the entire situation was handled with a very poor attitude and a lack of customer service. To make matters worse, we were not allowed to finish our round, which was extremely disappointing after paying to play such a great course. The golf course itself deserves high praise, but the customer service experience with Shawn left a negative impression on an otherwise excellent day. read more

Here's a version that gets the point across without making claims you can't prove: I had a very disappointing experience at Yocha Dehe Golf Club. My group was not allowed to finish our full 18-hole round, and we only got to play 17 holes. To make matters worse, I realized I had left my driver on the previous hole and asked if I could quickly go back to retrieve it, but the staff member I spoke with refused. What frustrated me most was the way we were treated. The employee was unnecessarily rude, dismissive, and came across as hostile throughout the interaction. Instead of handling the situation professionally, he showed very little respect for us as paying customers. I understand courses have rules and schedules, but there's a respectful way to communicate them. Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience. Shout Maddy at the downstairs food bar. Came in today before a round to get some grub. I asked Maddy if the hotdogs were made with peanuts or fried in any oil with it since im allergic. Maddy went out of her way to double check with management and also checked the ingredients box of the hot dog. I felt supported and safe so thank you Maddy! Summer Group Special- $109.00 per player. Plus driving range with bucket of balls & $20 credit to spend. Minimum 12 players. I'd heard great things about Yocha Dehe. A must play according to fellow golfers. The opportunity came finally. Our regular Tuesday group of eight plus four Thursday members played here yesterday. From the moment we did a bag drop until we finished play, everyone on staff and everything was smooth and professional. What I appreciated was the player's assistants aka marshals who were out on the course keeping the players pace going. Having said that it still took 5+ hours. Maybe cuz it was cart path only on three holes - two of them being par 5's. Plus some slow players ahead. The course was in great shape. I'm not sure if the par 5's that were cart path only due to course maintenance or if it's always cart path due to course design. After we all finished the 12 of us ate a late lunch at the Bahtenta Grill on site. We each pooled our $20 credit for lunch. We had a great server, Christina. Beautiful golf course! We purchased the summer group special of $109 per player includes bucket of range balls and a $20 credit to spend at affiliated Yocha Dehe establishments. Everyone on staff from the bag drop off to the end of our play was very friendly and professional. Even the Marshal that asked us to keep up with the pace of play said it in such a nice way and told us to enjoy the scenery. Of the 12 players, only a few had played this course before but on a scorching "HOT" day and couldn't enjoy the course. Glad the temperature this time cooperated and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of Yocha Dehe. The course was in pristine condition. The golf cart was one of the most luxury, comfortable cart... top of the line! Our group has decided we must keep a look out for the summer special again. My first time at Yocha Dehe. Yes it is in the middle of nowhere but it lives up to all the reviews. If you are first time player here are a few things to know before you go. If you are like me I do not get to play high end resort that often. Upon arrival take advantage of the Bag Drop. Drive your to the bag drop zone and let them take out your bag(s). The staff will ask you for your t-time and they will tag your bag. Then they will transport your bag to the cart area and place your bag(s) on to your cart. If your foursome is arriving separately tell your group about this. Do not worry all of your bags will end up at the right place. In the mean time you can drive your car to the parking lot and put on your shoes, and walk back to the club house and check in. After checking in you can walk down to your cart which will have you bags on them. At the cart pick up station there is snack bar if you need to get a beverage or two. Ask the staff where the driving range and practice tee are located to warm up. They are both up the hill, but it's not obvious. There is driving range and the practice green is on the top of the hill. The confusing part is the first tee is on the level between the driving range and the practice tee. There is an attendant at the first tee box that can guide you. They have scorecards, water and tees if you need them. Also make sure to grab the flag placement card. They use the flag placement numbers for the days flag placement. Do not assume a red, white of blue flag placement. The attendant is full of information do not be afraid to ask him any questions. Once you get on the course it is all layed out in front of you. Tee it up and have a fun round. The course was in great shape. I played on a Monday morning and finished in just over 4 hours. If it is hot, the heat can be over whelming. The course had ice and free water bottle stations through out the course, and the beverage cart was making the rounds frequently. It was super hot when we came off the course. The attendant cleaned our clubs and offered us Ice cold wet towels to help cool off. You can't play this course just once. I hope to have the opportunity to play it again soon. (Tip the staff they really make this place work). Make sure to stop at the course restaurant. While at Cache Creek we took a ride over to the golf course to check it out. Wow! I told my husband I wanted to golf there. So he, our son & I made it happen last weekend. Great customer service as soon as we pulled up. Our golf bags were tagged & taken to our cart. We checked in at the pro shop & were given a discount for 20% off because there was cart path only on a few holes because they are doing maintenance (nice surprise). The pro shop is very nice and meets all your golf needs. Our cart was so cool! Clean and included a ice chest with ice & cold waters, stereo speakers that have blue tooth. GPS & comfy leather seats. We were all given a clean towel to use while golfing. We were early so we took a ride to the range & hit a few balls. There is water for golfers. The course is pristine. Long fairways & nice landscaping & water features. The cart service girls were great, friendly & fast. We were greeted at the 18th hole with a nice cool, clean washcloth & more water and they cleaned our clubs. We will definitely be back. Hosted an outing with 18 players. We were informed the course was going through their fairway maintenance and half of the course was cart path only. We were lead to believe a simple re-seeding project. Not that there was a fungus impacting All 18 Fairways. We felt we should have received a one time discount due to course conditions. The answer we received was "you have a contract therefore this is what we have to charge you". When I contacted them the answer was...we will see if we can work out a discount the next time you book an event with us. How can I convince my friends to go back? It will not be easy! read more

One of my all time favorite courses! The course seems to always be in pristine condition. The fairways are green and the greens are super well kept. This course is pretty long and and each one offers a unique challenge. My favorite is the first hole with a dramatic down hill tee off from the top tee box! Awesome view from there. Also I must say that this course has the best golf carts ever. Fantastic GPS system and USB charging capabilities. The seats are also plush and so comfortable. Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had on any golf course! I was so upset with how our group was treated that I never got the chance to get the names of the starter and the manager that came up to enforce the starters decision. We checked In 45 minutes early and went to the driving range. There is no speaker calling out the next group to the T or anyone calling up the next group on a regular basis. Apparently, the starter said, "he went down to the range and called our group up." Which is a complete fabrication! What I believe happened, is that the starter had friends which were a twosome that went up to the T box and he allowed them to T-off by themselves. He next came down and yelled out clearly and noticeably the next T time. We asked, "what happened to our T time!" He said, "you missed your T time and have to go to the second hole." At this point we actually thought he was joking. To our surprise, he was not! We explained that we had been on the range waiting patiently, the whole time. The starter next called up a manager, the manager even more unprofessional than the starter stated, "if you want to play, you need to follow me to the 2nd hole."I tried explaining what had happened, but he said, "you have two choices go to the next T or leave the course." We came a long way to leave, so we went to the next hole. This course has always been a great place to play, but because of these two individuals actions and their lack of professionalism and deceitfulness, I'm going to withdraw any future tournaments or business of any kind. It's extremely sad that these individuals are in any kind of authority or management positions. Its even worse that Troon has put these individuals in lead positions without any training or hospitality experience. read more

Very mixed impressions. The course was beautiful & met all my expectations. I booked a foursome for my husband's birthday...$1000.00. His choice of a resort course & his favorite. We all were extremely disappointed in the course management team...course marshal! They all communicated by walkie-Talkies, needless to say, the mismanagement of their golf guests could/should have been avoided. I give it a 0 out of 10 for course management by the employees working Mother's Day Weekend. Example: First Tee - 2 foursomes (media-group -loud, no course etiquette) that were "gifted" their golf course fees were placed in front of our experienced foursome. The 1st Tee course official asked us to skip the first & second hole to begin our play on the third hole. Fine...not so fast, at hole 7 the media group jumped over our foursome to play the next two holes...drunk and loud. The 2 sets of foursomes were beginners. No marshal around. We assumed the chaos was over -Nope, the marshal allowed 2 people -rowdy/laying down on the green to jump in front of us again on the 18th green. We had to wait 10min while these two "crazies" finally moved on. We went back to play holes 1 & 2 with no distractions. Unfortunately, we missed our opportunity to eat at the clubhouse for my husband's Birthday due to all the chaos with the marshal moving people all over the course. Very distracting...such poor course management...a very expensive course to experience mismanagement and poor communication by course officials. It was disappointing. An employee carry my heavy golf bag from parking lot to the clubhouse, A+. Another employee cleaned my clubs at the 18th hole. , another A+ and I gave him well deserved tips. Had a quick bite to eat after the round. The food and service was very nice. This was my third time playing at this golf course. And I have been playing golf more than 30 years all over the country. While my friends and I playing golf this Marshall came up to us and said we are behind 15 minutes. It was sprinkling a little bit, and I don't see any groups behind us more than 10 miles. Does he have a clock? Does he know what time we started? I think this was the second time where Marshal came up to us and told us to speed up when there's nobody around behind us in 30 years. AND OT WAS CARTPATHONLY on that day. If there are people behind us, I perfectly understand. People said you got to have a short memory and forget about your bad shots and focus. But no.... Golf is 90% mental and 10% swing. Please stop bothering any other golfers. read more

Played Yocha Dehe on Tuesday, 9/24 and Wednesday, 9/25. The staff and facilities were very nice. The big problem we faced was the extremely slow play on both days. On day one, from the first hole through the 18th hole, we had to wait for every shot. Our round took over 5 1/2 hours to play. The Marshall twice told us he has informed the group ahead of us to pick it up since they had 2 holes open ahead of them but no improvement. Very frustrating since we were the first group of a tournament and paid top dollar to play. read more

I have said, verbatim, for YEARS... if you take the Monterey famous courses off the table, this is the single best golf course in Northern California. Since we chronologically encounter the staff first at this course, let's start there. The way-finding through the parking lot is on-point. You know exactly where to go, the whole way through. The bag drop guys are welcoming, friendly and hospitable. They take your clubs and ensure they make them on to a cart while you park. They're kind, they're quick, and they're deadly accurate. The practice facility is DOPE. You hit irons and woods into a side slope, but it's well maintained and the distances are dead-on. The chipping and putting greens are always immaculate and their condition is an exact facsimile of what you'll find on the course. Speaking of the course, I cannot overstate how gorgeous this course is. Brad Bell nailed the design in terms of capitalizing on the beauty of the surrounding landscape. Michelangelo described stone sculpting as merely chipping all of the rock away that isn't the David. Bell did the exact same with this course and found a perfect fairytale in the valley and foothill landscape. This place is a GEM. The conditions have been nothing short of utopian every time I've visited. What really got me this time, however, was a folly of my own creation. At the end of our round, I was hurriedly getting my belongings out of the cart to head home. It wasn't until after breaching the causeway that I realized I had left my watch in the cart, and at this point the pro shop was likely closed due to our afternoon tee time. When I called the next day, I spoke with Zach in the pro shop and he was aware of the near-orphaned watch almost before I could get the sentence out. He offered to ship the watch back to me for a $10 fee, which could be done via their website. The watch arrived in under 48 hours, in the same shape I left it in. This staff treats their position as equal parts golf ambassador and hospitaliatin. I made that word up, but they're so damned good at it, they deserve their own word. Oh, and the ice cold towel presented when coming off the 18th green smelled of lemon, lavender, and heaven. What an amazing touch! This place is worth every mf-ing nickel. I think one of the best golf courses in northern California...beautiful range, refrigerated water bottles throughout the course, well-marked yardage on sprinklers along with GPS, comfortable carts. It has one of my favorite opening holes that starts on a par 4 straight down fairway (similar with Wente Golf course first hole at Livermore CA).
