When we arrived at the bridal suite and I got a look at my bridesmaids bouquets I was amazed, then I saw my bouquet and almost cried it was so beautiful and everything I dreamed of. I hired Nancy to do the floral design for my wedding and it was INCREDIBLE! I had consulted with several florists before I found Nancy, but from our very first consultation phone call, I knew that she was the one. The level of attention to detail and service she provided was truly above and beyond. When I had to reschedule my wedding due to Covid, she was more than understanding and helped me navigate holding an event with the new restrictions. When my mother passed away, she delivered flowers to my home with a beautiful handwritten note. She was available at any hour to answer my questions, no matter how simple they were. She provided stellar recommendations when it came to other vendors and helped me make wedding décor decisions outside of the flowers. She joined me to pick out rentals and really listened to my thoughts on the vision and aesthetic I was going for. Despite being in a worldwide floral shortage, she was still able to deliver my preferred (and tricky to get!) flowers. My venue was fairly strict on how much time Nancy's team would have to set up the ceremony arch (I'd had my heart set on a fairly large and voluminous floral structure). Nancy's team worked overtime to deliver on this and were able to transport this large structure despite the time and resource constraints given. Aside from her expertise and the depth of her industry knowledge, she is so passionate and energized by what she does. Who'd ever thought that I'd write a review for a florist designer! It's been a month after my wedding and I'm starting to ease back to my regular schedule. I finally have some time to comment on parts of the wedding that I found especially memorable. I wasn't too involved with the flower selection process since my wife did most of the work. My wife looked at countless magazines and a gazillion online photos to get a feel of what she wanted. Instead of going for the look of grandeur with overflowing bouquets, we went for a completely opposite look.....simple, rustic, and cute. When my wife was showing me all these photos she found I was like "ummm....is that for a wedding? Is this what you want?" I really wasn't sure exactly what type of flowers I was going to see on my wedding day, but when I did finally see the flowers I thought they were perfect! We loved working with Nancy - she is absolutely incredible! Nancy designed the flowers for our wedding in August 2014. Nancy was recommended to us by our wedding planner (Meren Dehaze of A Savvy Event) after we showed her our inspiration photos and her recommendation was spot on! She asked us thoughtful questions regarding our preferences and was able to take our ideas and add her own creative twist. Nancy was also very flexible during the planning process - we changed our dinner configuration from 6 small tables to 2 long tables which required changes in the centerpieces and seating chart. My fiance wanted succulents and I wanted pink flowers for our wedding which could have been a challenging combination but Nancy pulled it off flawlessly! At the start of our wedding planning, flowers were seen as one of the necessary evil - a very expensive one for that matter. Neither of us care so much about flowers, we made a pact not to give or expect a dozen long-stemmed roses at inflated price during Valentine's Day, Ange couldn't tell what hydrangea, peonies, or carnations look like, thinks that (but for the colors) all flowers look the same and doesn't like the fact that flowers are so... fleeting. I have been following blogs of a couple Bay Area floral designers even before I was engaged, one of which was NLCD. I tried staying with florists who were within my initial floral budget, contacting at least 10 other florists and floral designers. The ONLY ONE I was in constant contact with had a pricing similar to NLCD. After seeing a wedding featured on Style Me Pretty NLCD did that matched my vision, I decided to just contact Nancy. As soon as we met with Nancy, I knew she had to be our florist. Not only did she better capture my vision but she was so welcoming and gives great hugs! We decided on having bouquets for me and my bridesmaids, flowers for the flowergirl baskets, and short and tall centerpieces with peonies (my favorite!!!), hydrangeas, and roses (to name a few) in pink and cream colors. I ended up purchasing candelabras I saw online and couldn't get out of my mind. Nancy adjusted the proposal to still make it work with our budget. She ended up giving us a complimentary boutonniere, toss bouquet, and floral arrangement that was on the escort table. She also added flowers to the cake and loose flowers around the cocktail area. I chose Nancy based on her 5 star reviews from yelp. My husband and I got married 2/12, right before Valentines Day, and I contacted her only a week or two before our wedding. Other florist were turning us down since it was so close to Valentines Day or too small of an order, but not Nancy. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted either. I sent her a picture of something I liked from greenweddingshoes.com, gave her our budget, and asked her to use her artistic judgment. The results were amazing!!! Nancy had the best personality in the world, so wonderful to work with. She is truly talented and amazing with flowers. We eloped here in SF, but had family and friends sending us emails on how amazing my bouquet was. I would HIGHLY recommend Nancy to every bride out there. read more

All I can say is WOW!!! Seriously, that's how beautiful the flowers and decor were that Nancy designed for our wedding. Sure I'm a little biased since I helped pick them ;) but many of our guests said they felt like they were in a dream. Nancy is one of those people who is truly passionate about what she does and it shows through in her work. We initially met and talked about my design vision. She then ran with it and came back with ideas that were above and beyond amazing. She made us these gold trees with orchids on them that looked like butterflies. The first time I saw one I was blown away. She also was very accommodating with some of our last minute requests to design a Persian sofreh for our wedding and it turned out beautiful. Nancy Liu Chin was absolutely amazing to work with for my wedding this past October. Her flowers were absolutely beautiful and she 'got' what I was thinking and my style right away. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted and she patiently worked with me to connect all my ramblings to an actual design. I was living abroad while planning my wedding and she was very flexible with how and when we spoke... she downloaded Skype and bought a headset so we could talk cheaply! Her work is creative, artistic, and unique - and her enthusiasm and clear love of what she's doing comes through in her designs and in the day-to-day of planning. She was also instrumental in helping me work through a few broader design issues, e.g. floor layout, reception flow, etc., which was above and beyond and that I very much appreciated. Though she was our Event Designer, Nancy seemed to be more like a big sister to Evita (my wife) and I during the whole engagement period (haha... thanks for the free dinners at Hard Knox!). Nancy is an awesome person to work with and her work is second to none. Our reception was at the Julia Morgan Ballroom and already, the venue is beautiful. When Nancy came in and designed the place, I was truly left speechless with how it ended up looking. Words can't describe how awesome the placed looked! What I probably enjoyed the most about Nancy was that working with her truly felt like a collaborative effort. She wasn't only open to our ideas but found creative ways to implement our ideas while still managing to adhere to the design rules that make her so successful as an event designer. Again, I highly recommend Nancy as an event designer. This review is long overdue. Nancy did the flowers for our South Indian wedding and she created the most beautiful mandap (stage with decorations) that I have ever seen. Many of our guests told us that it was a stunning wedding and that is due in large part to Nancy's designs. We had many twists and turns in the planning of our wedding which would have driven many vendors crazy. Nancy and our wedding planner took all of the changes in stride and created a beautiful entryway, a gorgeous stage, and vibrant centerpieces. Nancy was very responsive to our questions, met with us several times and was reliable in all communications. We are so grateful to Nancy for her work. read more

I met with Nancy once and that was enough. I arrived early for our appointment, but I spent 10 mins after our appointment standing outside the door. I left repeated messages and I got no response. Finally, when I reached her, she claimed she was on the phone and didn't hear the buzzer. I then had only 45 mins to meet with her, of which 20 mins were spent watching a presentation of all her work, many that were already on her website, while she did other stuff. I wouldn't have met with her if I didn't see her work beforehand. The next 25 mins was spent going though flower arrangement books. Again, I don't need a lesson on techniques. When she started sketching designs, I knew at that point Nancy was not listening to me and had her own agenda of what she thought I should want. I am so in love with Nancy Liu Chin Floral Designs. Nancy met with my fiance and I for three hours during our initial consultation and within those three hours she transformed our wedding from ho-hum to InStyle, celebrity-edition. Her ideas for center pieces, lighting and decorations are mind blowingly original and creative. If you want the "Wow" factor at your wedding, Nancy is it. She is not inexpensive ($4,500 minimum), but she is amazing and well worth it! read more

I met with Nancy for hours at our first (and only) meeting, and we only talked about flowers for the first half hour and then shot the shit for the rest of the time. She's wonderful and funny and bubbly and totally creative! The flowers at my wedding were lush and incredible, and I truly felt that I got WAY more than I paid for. Not only that, but Nancy thought of amazing details to add...like a magnolia wreath on the doors of the chapel. I'm from Mississippi, and I LOVE magnolias, but I don't remember ever telling her that. As all the reviews have already expressed, Nancy Liu Chin is a GENIUS! And worth every penny. My husband and I were planning our Labor Day 2010 wedding at a winery in Sonoma Valley from Boston, then New York, and then DC. But our experience with Nancy made it feel like we were really close by, even though we were planning a destination wedding 3000 miles away. She was always available by phone and email to brainstorm the most creative ideas or alleviate anxieties as the wedding day came closer. Of course, I love flowers, but I can't say that I know much about all the millions of types, kinds, colors, exotic varieties. That's where Nancy comes in. I interviewed seven florists from the Sonoma Valley area in person but no one even came close as impressing me as much as Nancy. You read that right - I interviewed SEVEN florists in person. We were on a pretty limited budget with Type A personalities as budding lawyers but she worked with us anyway. I couldn't imagine that anyone would have been as committed to making sure our wedding was absolutely perfect. Nancy is brilliant and talented - just look at her portfolio or better than that, just meet her in person in her studio. You will not be disappointed. My bridesmaid from NYC is also getting married in Sonoma next summer and hired Nancy immediately. As other reviews will tell you, Nancy's bubbly, awesome personality makes her a wonderful person to work with through the wedding process - she's sweet and kind - but when it comes down to it, the reason you hire her is because her work is sheer brilliance. She has an amazing eye and awesome taste in style that you have to be born with. She will work with you patiently, listen to your ideas, and transform your wedding into the wedding you always dreamed of. This is because Nancy genuinely cares about her work and will only give 150 percent, because she is a perfectionist. She will be super enthusiastic about your wedding from start to finish because she is so incredibly passionate about her work. I had some amazing vendors but she was by far our favorite.
