Our instructor was Laurel and she offered a relaxing introductory class as more than half of the people have never tried a yoga class. I recently moved back to Tampa after a long time away and was worried about finding a yoga community I'd like, but Yoga Loft is perfect. The teachers are well-trained, spiritual without being dogmatic or woo-woo, friendly, and available for questions. They encourage a softness in practice in a way that gently reminds me not to grip, clench, or force. There's definitely more feminine energy here than I've experienced in a while. It feels good. I love yoga, and Tampa is my second home, so as such, I'm always on the lookout for great yoga studios in town. I've pretty much been to all of them (there, sadly, are barely any in Tampa compared to my native SF), but on my latest visit last month, Yoga Loft popped up in my search, so of course, I just had to check it out. And I'm so glad I did. Once I discovered it, I went nearly every day for the rest of my Tampa stay. The space itself is a sweet little spot tucked in Ybor. It's cozy and tranquil. There's even a cute, resident yoga dog Luna (who I actually first encountered during shavasana, it was a shock!). I dig the location because there's always street parking during class times, and on days that I have to bust out my laptop and do some work, I can easily walk over to The Bunker, or one of the other cafes, after class. I took several classes with Trevor and one class with Leslie and both are fantastic teachers. My classes with Trevor were small, so I was able to make special requests and get more specific pointers, further deepening my practice (I have a feeling their classes will be pretty full once more people find out about this new studio). I left every class feeling awesome and refreshed, so much so that I even took a class right before heading out to TPA. Next time I'm back in Tampa, I'm definitely hitting up Yoga Loft again. read more

Ybor city roosters crowing and all, the studio is located in a peaceful neighborhood within Ybor city near the railroad tracks. There's ample paid parking nearby and literally a quick catty-corner walking distance away. The studio size is very cozy. It can comfortably hold 11 to 12 students. There is a shelving system as you enter the studio first room where you can store your shoes and personal items before you enter the main yoga area barefoot. Though you can bring your own mat, they also provide mats there with a large number of yoga posture and position accessories. Before and during the beginning of class, you're greeted with the nice clean smell of nag champa incense and the soothing sound of the fountain at the entry. The ambience is very peaceful and clean. Just note that though the AC is on, the class tends to be warm during the exercises (I'm assuming on purpose to keep your muscles limber), so you may sweat. It's always a pleasure knowing to this class each time that I've been. They teach a variety of yoga styles and different skill levels throughout the week. Every class I've been to so far has been top quality with very well-trained yoga instructors. During class, each instructor has their own variety of peaceful music to accompany the class vibe. Instructors are always friendly and willing to guide you along the way periodically adjusting yoga students as needed. Their prices are pretty reasonable. Every now and then, they run deals. I took advantage of the first five classes at $25 deal for new students just to check it out. I've taken their Sunday classes several times which usually involves yin yoga and their Monday night class which is a lot more physically strenuous than I expected, but good! Towards the end of the class after our workout, our instructor had us laying on our mats for about five minutes with all the lights turned off except for candles. I almost fell asleep. This is by far one of the best places I've taken yoga. read more

LOVE this studio!!! They have an awesome new student deal - 5 classes for $25! - a killer deal for a yoga studio of this caliber. I took advantage of this deal last Fall and loved taking classes with Ashley. The studio is fairly small, which means the classes are all fairly small and personal. I attended evening classes and each one consisted of 3-5 people tops! Ashley was great at providing corrections when needed and leading the class based off of how we were feeling, rather than a set protocol. And since the class was so intimate, we were able to try inversions and several other complicated poses I've never had the chance to practice in larger classes. I'm only sad this studio is so far from where I live. If it was a little closer to the north end of Tampa, I promise I would be there every night! read more

Great yoga studio located near the center of Ybor's entertainment area. Today was my second visit for a Yin class, while last week I caught a 2 hr. Kundalini workshop (only offered once every 3 months). I prefer studios in creative neighborhoods to start (so Ybor, Seminole Heights, downtown St Pete, etc), and the diversity in classes taught at Yoga Loft is about the best I have seen. Everyone was so nice and it was a pleasant experience while traveling in town here in Tampa.

I first went to the Yoga Loft on New Years Eve for a Power Yoga 2 hour workshop with Ashley, the owner. Since then, I've gone back almost weekly!! Ashley's approach to yoga is so great - she always encourages you to "take poses to your edge" while still creating an environment of acceptance for where you are each day (while still having fun in the process!). Her knowledge of the body helps so much in the adjustments she makes with participants, and her personality is so contagious!! I would have to say I'm an advanced beginner/intermediate practitioner of yoga, but I still feel welcome in any class, even the more advanced ones. Ashley always makes room for modifications and helps you through the progressions of the poses. Ashley's plethora of extra workshops (beyond the normal classes) is another reason to check this place out. She features many other yoga teachers and practitioners from the Tampa area and beyond at the studio, enhancing your practice even more! My favorite was Melissa's "Rhythm and Bliss" workshop back in January - dance and yoga really DO go together!! Whether it's the cozy environment of the studio, the friendly faces and amazing instruction you get, or the feeling you get after Ashley helps you into tripod headstand, there's no reason NOT to visit the Yoga Loft. I had the pleasure of taking Ashley's classes at a yoga retreat with The Travel Yogi in Aruba last year. Ashley is an incredibly talented teacher. We had 2 classes a day for a week and each of the classes were creative, fun and authentic. It can be quite challenging to keep each class so interesting when there are so many classes in a week but she was awesome. I remember looking forward to each class because they were so different from each other. She is extremely knowledgeable and patient. I would go to her classes all the time if I lived in Florida. Every class has a unique energy that is able to meet the needs of any level yogi. The teachers are tremendous at the studio, allowing each student to receive one on one attention. My understanding of yoga and my abilities have grown exponentially since I first started attending classes at the studio back in September. For me it's an intimate oasis where I can retreat to, and a community full of love and support. I love all of the teachers. The studio made such an impact on my life that I undertook yoga teacher training here. My balance, body awareness, and flexibility have grown continually since beginning yoga in August 2011. As a yoga instructor..I try out new studios everywhere that I travel and Yoga Loft was one of them I went to while in Tampa for a week...I went back three times that week on top of my already busy schedule while there. I thoroughly enjoyed the playfulness of the classes and the conversation with the instructors.
