This is the only studio in the area that offers Cryotherapy, PEFM therapy, stretch therapy, and Infrared Sauna. Literally an athletes haven! Quality of care is amazing, Kendra loves what she does and hires the BEST employees! Melanie handles all the office and billing and the experience is always great. Would recommend this place, over and over again! We are a forever customers for as long as they are here.

Its super close to where I am. This past Tuesday night, I took a hot pilates class with Jay Houston and that class was packed like sardines. There was probably 60 people in the class and it was a very hard class. Im in decent shape and man this class was really testing me. And it was beyond hot. Im glad I got thru it but not sure I wanna take this class on the regular. I just no longer feel like thats what my body needs. Tonight, I took a Flext class with Scarlett Salem and wow this class was soooo good and definitely my speed. It was heated and we did a lot of really great hip and low back stretches that I love and need. Instructor was very good, very clear and I enjoyed every minute of this class! 10/10! The heat was set just right and I still sweated a lot but also got in a really deep stretch session but not to the point where I felt it was overwhelming. I will try to come to more of these Flext classes before I leave. Really great intro offer and Im really loving my yoga practise here! Thank you!

It's the teachers! Also, it's a black owned business in a gentrificlusion zone (gentrified but mixed income), or revitalized area, if you prefer. Those are two more reasons to show up! I recently have started to search out yoga studios. I have pinpointed 3 of them to check out in…read moreparticular. Two are in DC and one is in Hyattsville, closer to where I live (in Cheverly). I attended Studio #1 last Saturday and loved it so much that I know I'll be attending that class and that teacher every Saturday (See my other reviews for my review of Yoga District....Wisconsin Avenue branch). Studio #2 I attended on Tuesday. It is the Hyattsville location---"Love Yoga". Initially I was a little thrown off to be honest with you. The teacher's style is 100% different from my first teacher at the other studio. I could tell that the first teacher (at Yoga District) has been practicing yoga for many moons now and that she is a master teacher. This teacher (Sherri) is happy-go-lucky and does not take herself too seriously. She goes with the flow, is funny and is a terrific teacher. I would not call her a master but she is good, and fun, and knowledgeable and challenging. She's hands on and is good at correcting postures. Right away she had us trying head stands, shoulder stands and a lot of other challenging poses. I broke a sweat for sure! The studio itself is eeny-weeny. There were 4 of us there, plus the teacher and that was plenty for comfort. However, I'm guessing that at least 8 can fit in there but it would be tight. Will I return? No. But it has nothing to do with the teacher or the space. It's just that the first teacher's style fits my personality to the absolute n'th degree. And so I'll be attending her class for as long as she teaches it. I have one more studio to visit and if I like that one, I'll have 2 studios to visit...but at least I have one for now. Do I recommend you attend the "Love Yoga" studio? ABSOLUTELY! I highly recommend you check it out. I have only been in Sherri's class so I cannot speak for the other teachers at that location. But Sherri is fun, hip, encouraging, and will work you into a sweat. Check it out!

This is a review for the ASA! African dance fitness classes offered daily at Adinkra Cultural Arts…read moreStudio. In short - I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE THEM! I have been looking for a fun and sustainable way to get my cardio in, and nothing I've tried before has ever stuck! I've done Zumba, spin, belly dancing, etc. -- but nothing has held my attention long enough to get me to make a firm commitment to that exercise form. But all that changed when I found ASA! I knew from my time in Boston that I enjoyed African dance, but I had not been able to find a place locally that offered a good African dance class. I've taken a class at the Dance Place that I found severely lacking in instructional clarity and fun, and all the other African dance classes I'd come across were not conveniently located near me. On a whim, I happened to be searching Groupon for "Dance Fitness" discount classes, and I stumbled across ASA! being offered at Adinkra. Let me tell you, ladies (and gentlemen if you're so inclined) -- this is a FANTASTIC workout. You will leave the class absolutely drenched in sweat, but feeling so good and proud of yourself, and also elated at all the fun you had. So just what is ASA? Glad you asked! ASA! is an upbeat, high energy, low impact dance fitness program that fuses modern African club dance movements and exercise science. Designed for participants of any level, the individual movements of an ASA! routine target your core-stabilizing muscle groups -- allowing participants to improve their endurance, cardiovascular capacity, burn calories, tone up and have fun. It feels like one big dance party, and yet it is actually a tremendously good workout for those of us who aren't otherwise too keen on traditional cardio. I love these classes, especially when they're taught by the ASA! creator and founder Akosua Akoto. I plan to be an ASA! dancer for life now that I've FINALLY(!) found something that makes me excited about working up a sweat. If you, like me, want to give these classes a try -- be sure to purchase a multi-class pass on Groupon first so that you can get a discount on your initial visits.

Yoga is so fun to connect with my baby and also other moms. Plus Amanda is a great instructor! Some of their other classes are on the pricey side is the only thing but it's such a great resource for moms! Also their location can be a bit tricky to find but the main door is off Keswick Rd (and is stroller friendly). Walk in past the dress shop and bare to the right. There's a big parking lot in the back.

This review is is for the doula services and support groups (becoming a mom and breastfeeding)…read more I like that the becoming a mom group has a rotation of doulas who lead the group each week. That way you end up inadvertently meeting the different doulas. We went with Cara. She has a ton of experience and super chill vibe. Our hospital was not allowing extra visitors due to COVID so we signed up for a virtual doula service. She met with us a few times before the birth to review questions, birth plan, and provide support. She was also available via email for random questions that came up in between. The day of my labor I reached out to her as needed and she guided me through some of the decisions we had to make. Her support made it so that I could better advocate for myself and my baby during my labor. She was 100% supportive of all my decisions and in the end I ended up having a beautiful and quick birth. I am so happy we got a doula and recommend it to anyone no matter what type of brith you are planning on having. I found the groups to be more helpful towards the beginning of my pregnancy, especially as it was a time that COVID was just ramping up. The only issue is that the people in group vary from week to week. I think it would be nice to be able to connect with the same group from week to week so there is some continuity.

The price was in-line with other options. Leon was personable, knowledgeable, and helpful. He made sure to provide us with everything that we needed to know and was efficient in providing us with the training needed to get certified in CPR, comfortable using an AED, and helping someone who may be choking. Leon shared knowledge and best practices that he had accumulated over 15 years of experience. I have been training with him for about six months now, and in that time I have found him to be a highly energetic and motivational trainer who is very thoughtful about the workouts he puts together. When I first came in for a fitness evaluation, I was pretty nervous because, frankly, I've never been very good at this fitness stuff. Fortunately, Leon was super welcoming and made me feel at ease, even when I had trouble completing my first workout (I barely made it past the warm up, not because it was a crazy workout or anything like that but because my body just wasn't used to much physical exertion). Leon very patiently helped me push through all that. In addition to personal training with Leon, I have also taken a few boxing classes with Coach Herb. Those classes are a lot of fun and I would also recommend them. I should add that Leon is a good guy who lives in the area and is invested in the local community. I live a few blocks away and am very happy to be able to support a local business.
