They actually take the time to instruct the class by walking around and provide individual instructions based on personal need. I took a class with Christine, who really knows her stuff! After spending time in the more trendy yoga studios around Chicagoland before moving back up here (i.e. Corepower), I'm glad to find one that seems committed in its core yoga practice without all the commercialized nonsense. The studio is clean, quiet and serene, and they offer mats, blocks, ropes and chairs for whatever practice is taking place. The music selection is well chosen and really compliments the practice (I didn't hear Enya once, which was a great sign). They offer classes in the AM & PM (the AM was full when I attended, which was also a good sign). Prices are more than reasonable, and classes are appropriate for all practice levels. Jessica and Courtney really know their stuff! I love that they quietly explain what they are doing/using and make you feel comfortable during the process. Highly recommend both! I also appreciate they didn't try to push a mass purchase of products. The only area where Healing Grounds falls short is the checkout process. Both times, it felt very transactional. Not a warm, fuzzy and appreciative departure. This last visit, I felt like I was disturbing her trying to check out. I would have hoped the experience start to end would be happy and relaxing. Just my personal experience both times, with 2 different receptionists. Otherwise, as far as servicies and facility, 5 stars.

I just attended a vinyasa class on 2/17, taught by Beth. I've been to classes she taught once or…read moretwice before at a studio she used to work at, so have some familiarity with her style. Beth runs a quiet and sneakily challenging class. Another student asked to focus on twists, and at first I was like "meh", but I was definitely feeling like I got a good workout by the end! I think my only suggestion would have been to break up the twist work with some other focus as well. I suppose I could have requested something else, but I'm horrible at that! Studio is very nice: quiet, clean and well-kept. Wood floors. A little on the small end. The main studio area couldn't really fit more than 10 unless, IMO, you start cramming people in really close to each other. They do have a supply of mats, blankets, straps, bolsters and blocks if you don't bring in your own. Floor to ceiling windows across two sides of the room. It is in a nature conservancy type of community, so it's not like you'll have oodles of people walking past, but it could be disconcerting for some. There is also a children's yoga studio available. Drop in class was $15; they do have packs available. Reiki and massage are also available by appointment in a private room. I think this is probably offered by Beth as she used to do this at the previous studio I knew her from. I would definitely go back, and would encourage others to check it out. It would be a shame if this business were to go under before more discover it. (Currently, the Prairie Crossing community only has three shops still in business that I know of - this yoga studio, the yarn store, and also a 10,000 villages type of store. The economy, obviously, does not help right now.) I'm not certain how much business this place grabs; it seems they could offer a few more classes or at least work on advertising themselves more. Their website definitely needs to be reworked. It doesn't exactly shout "serious" business to me. Not that they need to take themselves too seriously, it just needs to be a more professional website is all. They need instructor profiles, for one! (It still says "forthcoming" on that section.) Prairie Crossing is also directly across from the Prairie Crossing Metra Station.

I had taken a few other classes and loved it, so I decided to enroll and try a 6-week class that was a mix of pole and lap dancing. YAS GURL! Learning all kinds of fun things and getting a great workout at the same time. Who know it worked your arse out sooooooo good? The location is tucked in the back of a strip plaza, and it took me a second to find it. The space is small but enough for a class. It is very welcoming and the girls who teach it and take the class are all very fun! I think it is very reasonably priced and they offer Yelp and multiple class discounts. It is a WI based business, so you are supporting the locals. There is a make-up policy also. So if you miss a class, no worries. They are great with working with you. DO IT!

Class was 60 minutes and 75 or 90 minutes would be more appropriate, in my opinion. Otherwise, this being my first experience working with the pole, it was fun. It has been something I wanted to do for a while and I'm glad I did it. But even for beginners, upper body strength is paramount to even the most basic moves.

I enjoyed being a goddess for an entire three day weekend! I have also attended every type of special event or workshop held at Bear Foot Yoga Healing, including crystal bowl sound meditation, goat yoga, live music, and chakra restorative meditation. In addition, I've partaken of both Megan's Ayurvedic marma touch therapy and her energy healing treatment. I've gone to every style of yoga class offered; Megan is the absolute BEST teacher. The only service I've not yet used is her healing touch for animals, but if the need arises with any of my pets, I'm there for sure. I cannot recommend Bear Foot Yoga Healing and Megan MacCarthy highly enough!

I finally decided to push myself and I'm so glad I went. I saw Suzanne this morning, and felt very welcomed. They had mounds of supplies like belts, blocks, and mats so you don't need anything other than your attendance to be successful. She led the class in a casual yet relaxing manner, and time felt like it flew by. She ended the class with an abundance of calming music, relaxing poses, and essential oils. I will for sure be back (this next week)!
