Practising Yogiraj Gurunath's Kriya Yoga will never lead to actual enlightenment but to the assimilation of the practitioner's soul in Gurunath's own consciousness. He acknowledged himself during his retreats and YouTube videos that with repeated practice of his kriya techniques the star we imagine in the spine during the practice solidifies astrally, we merge our soul with the star and when this happens he, Yogiraj Gurunath, appears in Ajna chakra as the larger star so that we can merge into him. Several years ago I paid $6,000 to attend Yogiraj Siddhanath's so-called benefactors retreat. A few hours after the retreat I've started to experience excruciating pain in my knees although I never had an orthopedic issue of any kind. So far all medical treatment failed, I'm 75% incapacitated and my condition continues to deteriorate. I've gone back and forth about whether or not to write this review. I don't like the idea of bashing anyone's guru, but this isn't some guy quietly teaching students in the park. There'a full blown business model at play here, so I figure social media reviews are fair game in that context... About me: I've been practicing Kriya for 20 years now, having learned it from another teacher who has since passed. I've interacted with most of the Kriya organizations around these days, and have a pretty good knowledge of what's what, and how things vary between them. Gurunath had an event in SF, and I went out of curiosity and a desire to connect with other practitioners in the area. I'll do pros and cons, starting with cons to end on a positive note... Cons: 1) You know how every time you see a picture of Donald Trump he's posing, with that "I'm such a hardass" look on his face? Take a minute and Google pictures of Gurunath, and you see the same thing, except with a "look how spiritual I am" pose. There is clearly a marketing effort here, and I question whether an enlightened person would really be that concerned about selling themselves in that way. That surely isn't the case with the few that I've met in my own journey. After you Google him, go look at some (any!) pictures of Anandamayi Ma. Look at her eyes and expression, and then go back and look at Gurunath's. See the difference? There's a colossal ego at play here, and not in a good way. 2) He spent the entire talk discussing how spiritual he was. He then took a break, and his devotees came up and talked about how spiritual he was. 3) He gave a group Shaktipat, where he claimed everyone would be experience his form changing in front of their eyes, etc. He then asked how many of us didn't see anything, and found 20% of the group didn't get their minds blown as promised. He then blamed them for a lack of psychic development. Look, miraculous powers aren't conditional. Either you have the power to turn the water into wine and give everyone a drink, or you don't. But if the only people that the trick works on were those that you've been cultivating over the years, it's more likely that there's some sort of hypnotism or suggestion at play than any genuine spiritual powers. Also, and more importantly, when was the last time you heard of a master doing parlor tricks with his spiritual gifts, for no good reason? 4) He's not really a Nath. At least not in the literal sense of being a member of the current Nath lineage that actually exists today. 5) He has no Kriya lineage. Supposedly Babaji was his teacher. This is not the first time I've heard that. I can't say one way or the other whether or not this was true. I can say that it's the only way someone who isn't authorized to teach Kriya can actually find a way to teach it though, since you can't double-check with Babaji. 6) There's no such thing as Kundalini Kriya Yoga. At least, it didn't exist before Gurunath. It sounds cool though, and works for marketing purposes. But why would a realized master with a legitimate lineage care about changing names around for marketing purposes? 7) Don't let any of his people tell you he never asks for money. I just got an email pitching a $3k retreat from them just this afternoon, which resulted in me coming here to Yelp and posting this review. A few years ago, I also saw a program where you could pay monthly to be in a some sort of special club that will "accelerate your enlightenment" over those people who weren't in the club. Even though that is my last point, it was the biggest turn off to me personally in all of my dealings with his organization. You can't buy enlightenment, and being a member of the secret club and getting Gurunath's decoder ring isn't going to change that. It does work from a marketing perspective though. Ok, 7 cons is enough. Sorry. Now the pros: Pros: 1) Some of his students seem like they are really getting something out of his teachings, and there are quite a few glowing reviews of him. So who am I to say that the techniques don't work for people? Of course, that assumes that the reviews are legit. 2) To my knowlege, his Kriya techniques aren't completely off the wall, like you find with some of the other "I met Babaji and he taught me Kriya!" teachers floating around. So at least from a technique perspective, he seems to be on point. I haven't been initiated by him, so can't say defnitively, but believe this from what I've read in online forums about his stuff. All in all, if he's teaching Kriya, and people are learning and practicing it, I can't totally fault the guy, even though I believe he's in it as a career move rather than for any other noble reason. Since I thought of two pros, I gave two stars in the review rather than only one. If you feel a pull to Gurunath and really think he's your guru, go for it. At least you'll learn Kriya. read more

I started following this guru in 2008. I was just a student who liked the Kriya practice and liked what the guru had to say. A couple weeks ago though, one of the senior leadership who left a couple years ago contacted me to tell me about women being raped by the guru. I have since talked to the victim personally and along with other previous students of this guru are helping her get a DNA test as proof. Oh Avidya, Ignorance Is Not Bliss Yogiraj SatGurunath Siddhanath's direct lineage to Babaji is through Satyananda Giri and Hariharananda Giri, who were both contemporaries of Paramahansa Yogananda, as well as direct disciples of Sri Yukteswar Giri. The direct line from Janavatar Sri Yukteswar via Yogavatar Lahiri Mahasaya is well documented, established and recognized. So for anyone to state anything contrary to these facts, exemplifies a complete lack of accurate information and the historical facts as they occurred. Furthermore, Anandamai Ma Herself, acknowledged Yogiraj as Avatar, when She told Him that "You are your own Guru". So for anyone to condemn, and/or judge, such an advanced and evolved Soul, is to show one's complete ignorance of the Nath lineage and Kundalini Kriya Yog, which was given to Lahiri Mahasaya by the Great Mahavatar Babaji on Dunagiri Hill in 1861. I have never ever seen or experienced yogiraj or anyone else from the organization ask for money. In fact i still remember i took one of my friend who at that time was going through financial crisis, couldn't afford the initiation fee, he shared his concern but was keen to take initiation and he had to pay nothing.Also we have had such miraculous experiences both healing and of expanded consciousness that i feel talking abt it here on this platform is not the best choice, but for me , my family , my friends who have been with Yogiraj, life has been-Blissful n beautiful! read more

My experience with Hamsa Yoga and Gurunath Siddhanath have been liberating. The organization is run by several students so all of us can be able to have him visit the US. I have heard Gurunath say he is not a part of the Organization. Ha ha. He is not interested in making money. Yes, they do sell things and suggest donations when he is in town because things aren't free and in order to keep him visiting, money is needed. It is the just the way the world is. I have never seen any scamming and the Kriya is authentic in my experience. I have never felt more peace and connection to the deeper layers of my soul than when I practice the Kriya Yoga. They are not bad guys over there, everybody is very sincere and just trying to bring peace in the world. read more

I agree with the previous poster, I have not directly met Yogi raj but did once attend a group of his followers. I am a very open minded and non judgmental person and went to their meeting as a tru seeker of Wisdom. I have spend months reading about Kriya Yoga and was looking to find someone who was true to his work, sadly I found a bunch of guys who were blindly following instructions without proper knowledge of the underlying sience or scriptures. All they cared about was to collect your US$$ to cover the expense of holding the session at the Yoga studio. They kep on driving home the point that I needed to be initiated before anyhthing can be divulged to me. It was a total bad vibe, it was a modified form of their own form of Kriya, which I think is BS, The Kriyas are handed down by sages and seers, know it and followit, its a sience stupid not a damn bench press exercise you can alter based on your convenience so that you can patent it. I ran away and never looked back, they email me many times and I never looked back. The last email was with Quotes of US$$$ that Yogiraj would be in town, I was happy i escaped with the skin of my teeth. read more

In my experience I have NEVER EVER heard Gurunath or anyone ask for money. You have to understand that in this world...money is needed to make things run. The only reason he asks us to connect a rainbow bridge from your heart to his is because he wants you to experience his state of consiousness. It's true, we must also reach out. It goes both ways. It just makes sense. It's really quite beautiful Why do we limit God? Yes, use discrimination....thats important. Its also important to listen to your intuition. Not fear based intuition but intuition from the soul. Also, i have been in his presence and the experiences i had were out of this world and no-one can convince me otherwise. Another thought, People are allways mad when someone does not heal them instantly but the truth is that it takes faith on our part as well. Even in the scriptures Jesus says to a young girl that her faith has made her whole. I also believe God still works through western doctors miraculously. Just a thought.
