A church is a group of people who worship God together, it is not a building. Harvest OC is such a warm and inviting church that it stands out from the others. Everyone is so kind and welcoming. With a great diversity of people from all types of backgrounds. We all accept each other even if we are different. The worship is incredible and the service times make it easy for most people. I have been to so many churches in OC but none stress discipleship like Harvest. For those who get involved, you will be looked after, cared for, challenged to grow in your faith. The focus is prayer and discipleship. Spiritual growth comes from having close relationships with others like you who want to grow. Each person helps each other through love and fellowship. I visited without much information, a bit concerned about some of the 1 star reviews here. I was very welcomed, very helped finding where to go and information. Everything felt well organized and planned. The people taking me in took a minute to ask my name and connect. In the teen area check-in wasn't so organized- but there was a new system. The 3 "greeters" (all teens) were neither warm nor welcoming, but I was told everyone inside was quite welcoming. The teen message was reported back as one of the best ever before heard. I found the crowd to look pretty mixed and people looked like the average OC people that I encounter just about everywhere else around. The message was incredible and the guests message was equally inspirational. The thing that stood out to me was the message imprinted on me in a way that I don't feel happens other places. I didn't take notes, and yet I found myself able to recall the message well and access it through the week. While I'd heard the name Greg Laurie before, I didn't know much beyond that. I left hungry to know more about pastor Greg and his ministry, and constantly seeking out more of his messages. Parking wasn't the most fun I've ever had though. Save extra time to park. read more

For Easter our Family decided to try a new church and this church was recommended... on Easter, they chose to share a story of a satanist and a witch coming together and finding Jesus and eachother... not a story to share on Easter we were so shocked! I will start off by saying that I'm extremely grateful for the leaders in the new believers and young adults group who have encouraged me and prayed for me in my walk with Jesus. I was baptized here and for a long time I respected pastor Greg Laurie. His sermons have gotten me through a lot and helped me with my relationship with Jesus. I do have to say that this is a predominantly white church and it's hard to find community when you are one of the few Hispanic members. I believe that every church should be culturally inclusive and should be seeking to diversify the church to make other non-white members feel welcome. Now, It is with a heavy heart that I say that Pastor Greg has been silent about the inhumane treatment of the immigrant community. He has not offered prayer or even kind words to these immigrant families during this time of fear and persecution by ICE AND DONALD TRUMP ( whom he proudly broadcasts their friendship) ! He has done nothing to show support, or love or any Christ like behavior to the families and children in deep suffering right now. Instead, he is feeding into the narrative that my people are criminals and deserve this treatment because " the Bible says to follow the law... " It is a complete shame that Greg Laurie stays quiet when he should be using his platform and status to urge others to pray for immigrants and the Hispanic community. He did not acknowledge us at all. Instead, he only spoke about what was convenient for him. This is not a church that I want to be a part of. Do better. Speak out about injustice not only when it's convenient to you and people that look like you. If you are a person of color, I encourage you to look for a different ministry. read more

I have been going to Harvest for many years. Greg Laurie's style of teaching the scriptures is very down to earth. He gives good insight to the teachings of the Bible with humor and wit. Greg has been teaching the Bible for 50 years. He also does the Harvest Crusades . The music at church is worshipful and time relatable to today. Personally, I find the atmosphere here phony and pretentious. One of the rare times when Pastor Laurie was there, I happened to be right next to him waiting for a coffee; he turns looks at me; I say "good morning pastor," he gets a look of disgust on his face and walks out. Granted maybe he had gas, but it was the strangest thing. You have people texting during prayer. The vibe seems to be geared towards entertainment rather than spirituality and salvation. Some of these pastors originally from Calvary Chapel who have started their own mega churches seem to have become superstars in their own minds, too big for their britches, and bursting at the seams with egomania. read more

This is our new home church and I can say so many good things about the infrastructure, the people, and the pastor. First off, pastor Greg is amazing! Of course he does the harvest crusades at the Angels Stadium in Anaheim and has done so for years brining thousands to Christ, and he has such a heart for people and evangelism is the main topic preached at church. Spreading the gospel is key. I've been to other big churches but this one is different, the people are so kind and community centered. They really make you feel like family, it's not corporate or weird it's just people who really sincerely have compassion for others. read more

What's the point going to church if you're just going to watch a screen? Why aren't there another pastor? Laurie focuses so much on that stupid movie than preach the words of God! They are known for their baptism so they make that an idol. Extremely judgmental about pet owners when he knows nothing about people's situation. I attended this church last August with my boyfriend at the time (ex-boyfriend now) and committed my life to Christ, got baptized, signed up to be a greeter, attended church every Sunday (38 minute drive) and felt welcomed. I joined 2 Bible Study Group with this couple who was running it & accepted me into their lives and called me their "Sister". Recently, there was situation with this girl in this recent Bible Study Group and the couple called me on a Thursday night asking me these uncomfortable questions and told me that they are kicking me out of the group (my freedom was taking away from them) and if I attend Harvest & sat with them, they'll tell the pastor and possibly put me in jail. The wife was really upset with me one time that I missed the Bible Study Group because I was sick and coughing and I apologized her and she didn't forgive me and that is so disrespectful and not Christian-like. What they could've done was sat the girl and I down together and forgive one another and move on. In the Bible it says to forgive the right people and I don't think the couple doesn't know how to forgive people. As sad to say that I will no longer be attending Harvest in Riverside & Irvine and will be looking for a new church who's more Christian-like and people that are respectful and not judging. read more

As Pastor Greg would say, "The church is full of hypocrites, and there's always room for one more!" I was amazed after just one visit, and I've been going 3 times a week ever since. If you take the time to get involved, and make an effort meet people, you will meet some of the nicest people you have ever met. Everyone I know at Harvest has a heart for people, especially visitors. My women's group has grown my spiritually, the mid-week bible study offers an in-depth study of the bible... But true growth in a relationship with Jesus comes from studying the word on my own. This church encourages a personal commitment to the bible. You can't expect much if you just rush in right when service starts (or later) and leave right after. Come early, have coffee, stay a while after... Yes, it's big and the worship is loud, yes, there is food and a bookstore... But I think if you lived in the time of David, you would have heard loud music and you would have seen commerce in action. Hi, okay so I went to Disneyland with my daughter on a Friday and since I was already in the area I thought on my way back home to Menifee I'd check out harvest OC they were having a guest speaker. The Preaching was fine the atmosphere was inviting BUT THE STAFF WAS NOT. So, as I walked in there was a guest table with members of the church sitting behind it, they literally looked at me like they had never seen a single Latina mother. they said "oh, hi " but with a judgmental look on there face and NOT ONCE did they say "Welcome to harvest we hope you enjoy your visit" this is after the fact I told them I was visiting and that I was new to this church, I looked past it because ..hey, Im in orange county (white/asian central) its expected.. more than 90 percent of this church is white... anyway, I asked for them to point me to the child care, LOL and again at child care THE SAME TREATMENT, white girl TRYING to dress in the 90's fashion with doc's and plaid on. Gave me the "what the heck are you lost? look" didn't smile at me or welcome me again, even after I tried making conversation and letting her know I was New to the church. I kept my cool and looked past it. I needed to use the rest room ... as you walk out of child care another little table.. this time there was a BBW asian/islander lady sitting behind this desk I ask her "Hi, could you point me to the restroom sorry Im new and visiting here" and again the same damn look like "are you lost" type look. she pointed me to the restroom and then after said "God bless " I have never in my life left a church sooooo fast after the service. DO NOT COME HERE if you're latino or at least LOOK latino. they obviously didn't get the message of Jesus. AND IT SHOWS. read more

Great church that always gives a good message and has great ministries and friendly community. Unless you decide to have a child, then this church just wants nothing to do with you or your family. We went there for actually a couple of years. I had my first date with my now wife there. We were involved in their V2 program as much as we could. We lived 45 minutes away but it didnt matter. We loved the community and what we learned each week from Greg Laurie and his team. We had our first child and waited 4 months before bringing her out in public. As new parents, we were excited to bring our newest blessing to the church we knew and loved. Before we even stepped into the sanctuary, we got a stiff arm right away from ushers who knew us and saying "sorry, no babies allowed in the sanctuary..." With no explanation or alternative option. We had to go and look for another overflow room to watch the service. Which was tucked in a far corner away under construction with no church staff to help or go to if we were lost and looking to accept Jesus in our lives. Now with our V2 group we had been attending for a year. We asked about what to do with our baby and if it's ok to bring our baby to the group that had our supposed friends that havent seen her yet. They spoke with the church team and came back to us and explained that a baby would be a distraction to the group for people trying to learn and grow with Gods word. And suggested we leave our baby in their nursery while we have our sessions. I'm sorry, but were not going to leave our 4 month old baby with some strangers weve never met. Livescanned or not. Call us over protective or what, were just not doing that.... (Thank you for your participation...) Almost a year later, we havent heard not one thing from the church or our small group about how were doing or sorry for shutting you out. If you're looking for the welcoming family environment, it ain't here. Our family members have even tried to call and explained to the church staff about our situation and what has happened. (Ma'am, please take a number and well be with you when we can...) Just think about what could've have been if we were a new non believing family interested in knowing God and have never stepped foot in a church before? For a church to have "policies and procedures" against any of God's children, let alone, the newest ones. It just isnt right. read more

Racist white people? No. I am Asian and when we first came to church, it was the most welcome I have been in a very long time. So many Latinos, Asians, etc. are we all worship God together. Also, one of the reviews is about what a girl was wearing. NOW who's judgmental. I hate it when people mislead others for their own feelings and their own judgmental minds. Please don't believe them. Such a fun and uplifting atmosphere. Nobody immediately approaches you or makes you feel uncomfortable, no crazy rules or regulations. I love this church! You can come anyway you are. Casual, dressy, happy, sad, lost or found! I've never felt judged or uncomfortable in anyway. Greg Laurie is incredible and he has an awesome line up of other Pastors that speak when he can't be here. They ALL have a sense of humor, admit faults because they are human, and all have a passion for the word like no other. They speak in a way that it isn't really "churchy" but direct, funny and exciting to learn! This is a true Bible study church. You're not getting "opinions" (well maybe on Greg's dislike of certain animals vs his love of reptiles -- to each his own LOL) you're getting "facts" from the Bible. Meaning it isn't based off of "what you want to hear" to make you feel accepted. You'll learn that "we are all hypocrites/sinners, we have room for more so come just as you are!" It took me a long time to comprehend this. I thought I needed to be "right with God" before I went to church. Well I didn't even know if I wanted to know such a person as "God" from how I was taught about Him. I had a lot of questions that I needed answered when I started looking into what/who God was. I went as much as I could no matter how hard it was to get there and each time had more answers. I accepted Christ into my life 6 years ago and He has never abandoned me nor left me to feel alone in my darkest hour and I have been through the storming, raging seas for sure. I can go totally alone or with a large group of people and always feel welcomed. I ALWAYS feel better when I leave than how I felt when I got there no matter how great I thought I was! My husband and I visited this church once... once was enough. Immediately upon trying to enter they asked me if my bag was my diaper bag and said they needed to check/search it. Boy were we immediately put off.... the people at the children's desk were extremely welcoming, we checked in our 6 year old and 3 year old. I was wearing our 6 week old baby against my chest who was sound asleep. 1 week prior to that he had an emergency surgery. My husband and I wanted desperately to worship as we were so thankful our baby didn't lose his life. A complete gift from God.... that's what children are. And so it was completely shocking when we entered the sanctuary with our sleeping little guy.... and two ushers approached us and told us there are no children allowed in the sanctuary. We were seated way in the back and my husband said if he woke up we would step out.... oh no... the usher actually said we HAD to leave... as in we weren't actually even allowed in there because we had a child with us. He then referred us to the "overflow," room where they happily segregate families. My husband and I had been through so much that last week, we thought we were going to lose our little baby and we desperately wanted to come and worship.... God miraculously healed our son and when we came to worship at what we thought was God's house, we were turned away. We were only allowed to view the service on a screen in an overflow room.... I actually started crying, it was so emotional for me. Never in my life have I been asked to leave a service.... especially before it even began. What happened to "come as you are," and "all are welcome." All are welcome except children.... the very group of little people that Jesus distinguished from the rest and said LET THE CHILDREN COME TO ME AND DO NOT STOP THEM FOR THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN BELONGS TO THOSE WHO ARE LIKE THE CHILDREN If you align a churches view with What Would Jesus Do... it becomes pretty clear if you should stay far away from a church. So I imagined Jesus up on that stage... if Jesus were here today, in this day in age preaching on that very stage with all the modern technology and a video camera... do you think he would ever under any circumstance turn a Mother away out of his presence in that very room because he had a video camera on him? Or do you think Jesus would welcome everyone ESPECIALLY the little children or a mother with a sleeping infant whom his Father just miraculously and graciously healed? Please run far in the other direction if you ever walk into a place to worship God and hear His world but are turned away because you have a child with you. This is not what God would want for his church. The usher was extremely nice, he stated it wasn't his policy. It was nothing against the usher simply doing what he was instructed to do... but we could tell he had hurt in his eyes to do it, we could tell he knew it wasn't right especially when I asked him "Would Jesus ever turn away a mother and her child?" He asked if we wanted to speak to a pastor and see if they would "make an exception just one time." We said no thank you. It wasn't the church for us. If I wasn't already a Christian, I would never step foot in a church again if that were my experience. It was also embarrassing being asked to leave as the people in front of us turned around to see what was happening. Jesus would not humiliate, He would not segregate and He would not turn away children. read more

My first time in a church in at least 10 years was on an invite from a friend today. Walking into a former business converted into a house of worship, I was astonished to see all the commerce going on as we enter the building. I read somewhere that Jesus didn't like money changers in the temple. Did I miss something? It was extremely troubling to have my purse inspected at the door to the "warehouse of praise". The full band with singers was so loud I had to plug my ears and then go wait in the hall till the music was finished. When I re-enter to join my friend inside, the same woman that checked my purse the fist time chased after me to inspect it again! Huge HD screens made it easier to see the pastor in the distance as he delivered a message of the battle we inherit when choosing to be a Christian. The emphasis was on your shield of armor, fighting, conquering and overcoming our enemies including ISIS (Muslims) and Atheists. When the pastor said we have tools as Christians to WIN this battle I held my breath begging in my heart for the message to be what Jesus wants us to do as followers of him. I had written the word on my hand with a pen I borrowed from a woman sitting next to me who was taking copious notes. After admonishing the congregation to register and vote so as to place Christian leaders in political positions of power to steer this country in the Christian theology, he shared the two tools we are armed with; prayer and preaching. Surely he would speak this other word. I wait and hope he will because it's too important when encouraging so many followers of Christ our lord and savior to leave it out. I am waiting for the word and it was finally used - I counted 17 times. Not once as a verb to the congregation as a call to action, only that they were by God. It was used several other times in a form that made it a noun in place of the name Jesus, or the congregates. The service ended with a call to accept Jesus and a gift of a book offered to those that do. When the loud music resumed, I went back out int the hallway to wait for my friend. As the congregation filed out, I was struck by the absence of joy. I saw very few smiles. There seemed to be no connection between worshippers walking in stride with each other towards the cafe, the bookstore, the boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts and the Mexican food stand just outside the back door in a courtyard. I kept looking at the word on my hand throughout the day and realize in this political climate that this church is pandering to the fear that has Christians using hate to fight hate. Jesus said, as I have loved you, love one another. This is a commandment. Love your enemy! It was what Jesus showed us time and time again. Love. I will use this day as a sad reminder of why I do not worship in a community. My God is love. I will praise nothing above love. I will pray and preach love over everything, especially fear and hate. read more

What Can I say about Harvest and Pastor Greg Laurie besides blessed and a huge heart for evangelism!!! This place is excellent for leaning the word of God. Me and my spouse were able to accept Jesus as our Lord and savior right at this place because pastor Greg had extended the invitation to us in one of his messages. I love the heart and mission of Harvest church " knowing God and making him known" this is exactly what they stand! One of the best churches I've been to. This is where He changed my life. I've taken a step of faith and I pray and hope I don't ever go back. It's been one year since I've turned my life around and I'm still walking in The Way. There are a few minor slips and falls but step by step I will reach perfection. He will perfect me or I hope to die trying. I've never walked this far with Him before. God knows I've walked a long time without Him. It was always one or two months and I go back. Hopefully I don't fall as hard as before. We'll see what He has in store for us. read more

Pastor Greg Laurie is a wonderful pastor- very smart and humble in the Lord. I have gone to many different churches but none are like Harvest. The church is big but everyone is friendly and you get to know everyone really quickly. I joined the bible study and they place you into smaller groups where you meet even more people. The worship band is fantastic. There are often guest pastors which makes things different and new all the time. There is a coffee shop and bookstore on site. The children's ministry is great and they even have a special needs ministry. You can get involved in many different things there so there is a place for everyone.
