I'll admit they make me nostalgic and I usually have fairly high expectations for them, since (though I'm biased) I feel like I worked at a pretty good one. The reviews for Zen Beri weren't that great but I honestly thought it was pretty good. This shop is located in a large, somewhat labyrinthine shopping center and the signage is nondescript, but there's plenty of parking and it's accessible. The inside is small but clean and cute. The staff member greeted me politely. I went to the back of the shop to check out the froyo flavors. They didn't have a super extensive selection (maybe about 10 flavors), but many sounded tasty. Eventually, the staff member offered me some sample cups, which were self serve. I'm clearly out of practice; two of my three samples came out great but one of them splattered all over my arm. It's veryyyy sticky lol. I tried the butter pecan, a coffee flavor, and one other that I don't recall the name of but remember liking...something vaguely nutty, but it's gone from my memory now lol. Anyway, the butter pecan was quite yummy; the coffee had a slightly odd taste that I didn't care for. 2/3 isn't bad. I have what I think is a pretty perfect froyo combo that typically tastes great and fulfills the build your own fantasy without overloading the toppings and making the flavor weird. I got some chocolate yogurt, paired it with a little of the butter pecan, and then topped it with crumbled Reese's and Oreos and a dusting of pecan pieces. Ideally, this creation is completed with a generous drizzle of hot fudge, but their hot fudge dispenser was either clogged or empty and my attempts were fruitless. Other than this mishap, the topping selection had lots of good choices kept clean and topped off nicely, though it wasn't a crazy extensive number of different options. I honestly find that preferable in terms of waste and decision making, but YMMV depending on what you like with your froyo. The price per ounce seemed reasonable and the employee remained friendly and pleasant through the checkout process. My creation tasted as I remembered (I've had better chocolate froyo but this one was good enough and the butter pecan was quite yummy) and I enjoyed it overall. This is a solid froyo shop and I'm glad to have stopped in. TL;DR: clean shop with polite employees; relatively small selection of flavors and toppings but what's available is fairly high quality and presented well. Worth a try!

Located off the main drag of highway in Madison, this is a small chain offering rolled ice cream, milkshakes, cookies, and liege waffles with decadent toppings. It's been here a little while and so I thought I'd stop by for an afternoon treat while waiting to attend an event nearby. I entered into the smallish, narrow space and was immediately struck by how...dead it felt. There was one other customer (or perhaps an owner/manager, though if it was, that's kind of disappointing given my experience). It was kind of dark inside and it smelled weird -- not noxious or anything but a little musty and certainly not a yummy, sweet, ice cream, cookie, or waffle scent like you might expect. I wasn't greeted but I wandered up to the register where an employee was listlessly -- and I mean LISTLESSLY - pushing around a few sad ice cream rolls. They were bad enough that I started to feel concerned she was sick. These concerns were further worsened by the fact she wasn't wearing gloves. While that thought flickered through my mind, I abruptly heard her say, "I'm sorry." I assumed she was talking to me since I'd been waiting for a while, and so I reflexively said, "You're fine!" I quickly realized she wasn't speaking to me at all and was instead having a conversation on the phone through the headphones she was wearing. Nice. This went on for another minute or two -- it was a fairly personal conversation and she seemed to be consoling someone on the other end -- and I just decided it wasn't worth the hassle and frustration. Y'all know I try my best to be very forgiving of service and such but this was a bridge too far for me. I had read reviews prior to coming here about service being bad and I thought surely people were overreacting or being entitled but now I don't think so. Perhaps the product is good, but you'll be hard-pressed to sell much of it if employees aren't even willing to make it for customers.

This location only offers ice cream (soft serve) creations and hot dogs. Limited options if you want a real meal. On this visit, however, I just wanted a treat. They have soft serve in scoops or cones, milkshakes, and I believe soda floats. You walk up to counter and order while staff waits on you at a window. There isn't really any seating that I recall; I ate in my car. That said, service was supremely bubbly and nice -- the young woman who took my order was very friendly and warm. My order was prepared quickly. I got a cup of vanilla and chocolate soft serve swirl. I didn't want it to be completely plain so I got crumbled Reese's cups on top. The pricing is a little...confusing, I guess. A small cup of ice cream is $2.94, which given the size of the serving, is extremely generous. However, to add any toppings, it's $1.88 for each topping. This seems like a lot for crumbled Reese's. It was a LOT of crumbled Reese's, so I guess not completely incongruous pricing, but personally I'd prefer a small smattering for like .99 cents rather than a veritable candy bar on top of my ice cream for almost $2. Idk, maybe that's just personal preference. Anyway, my MASSIVE treat was decent! And it legitimately tasted like cereal milk. Thai tea is supposed to have a sweet milk-ish flavor to it, since it's often made with sweetened condensed milk, but this just...wasn't it.
