    Depth Charge

Pizzelle's is an impressive little chocolate shop inside Lowe Mill. It's been around a while - I think they recently celebrated their 10 year anniversary - and for good reason. They have miniature cakes, ice cream/gelato, cookies, a few other confections like toffee, as well as coffee and tea...but the star of the show here is, no doubt, the chocolates. I've visited a couple times over the years but never felt comfy leaving a review because I hadn't had the chocolates - in the past, I've felt more snackish and chosen cookies or gelato. That's the reason for the 4 instead of a 5, honestly -- I wasn't super into either of those items in the past. The ice cream I had was better than the cookies (a mint chip flavor of some sort, a lil too heavy on the mint but otherwise tasty), but I've had cookies at least 3 times over the years and wasn't too taken with any of them. Perhaps I've just gotten unlucky. That aside...the chocolates are an easy 5/5. Yes, they are pricy, but they might as well be works of art. They really are just THAT beautiful. Each and every one is incredibly detailed, sculpted, and colored to perfection. They're all unique and all have thoughtful flavor combinations. You can order smaller bonbon type chocolates as well as a few signature candy bars. This time, I ordered four individual pieces as well as the Mommy Dearest candy bar. I enjoyed the smaller pieces over the next few days, but I was hungry and ate the candy bar right in the shop. It was delicious! Fluffy coconut, crunchy almonds, and gooey caramel with just enough salt. Fine fare! In order from least to most favorite (note: I liked all of these, just have my preferences like anyone): The Depth Charge. Tasty espresso zing, though I was missing the stout and nutmeg. It resembles a beer, though, with beautiful amber and brown ripples. Totally Tubular - reminds me of a 90s indoor skate park. Black and neon! Awesome colors. A very silky chocolate and almond praline. Nice! Nutty by Nature - definitely a favorite. Absolutely stunning swirls of blue, gold, and brown, and a strong nutty flavor and crunch. Not too much marshmallow, but just enough for some pillowy softness. Yum yum yum! Best for last: Give it to Me Baby!! A beautiful chocolate, though a bit more subtle and less flashy in design than the prior two. It's a little like a turtle candy -- absolutely delicious bourbon caramel (you really can taste the bourbon) and perfectly crunchy pecans. Can't lose with this one! Service is always friendly and polite. The quirky decor (lots of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory memorabilia) is fun and inviting. All in all, these chocolates would make a phenomenal gift for anyone in your life (including yourself!) who appreciates chocolate, art, or ideally both!

This is on my go to list weekly. The shot in the dark with machete and and whipped cream is awesome. It is the best coffee place in Huntsville hands-down. Most people don't even know they have coffee they go there for the chocolates. The depth charge is the best chocolate they have in my opinion. The ambience is great. They know everybody by name as you become a regular. You definitely want to try a cup of soup or a cocktail. There's a little bit of everything.

Absolutely amazing. The most stunning chocolates and mini cakes. I was impressed. We finally stopped and found this place to get our coffee trail stamp. We tried the drinking chocolate with espresso and their artisan chocolates. I will most definitely be back! I loved their adorable mini cakes! So much TLC in each one.

The selection is perfection and the quality is unmatched. If you need to give someone the perfect gift to make them happy or just want to feed yourself you can't do better than Pizelle's.

I came to Pizzelle's after having a nice lunch next door in Happy Tummy. My friend spent the whole afternoon talking about this place that makes delicious chocolates that are hand decorated so nicely that you don't even want to eat them because they look like art. So after lunch, I decided I didn't want dessert: I NEEDED dessert. As soon as I opened the door, I felt the nice gush of cool air and I smelled fresh chocolate. I don't know how, but the chocolate smelled like someone was swirling it in a big cauldron in the back with a massive instrument like a canoe ore. That wasn't actually the case, of course, but the point is the place is very inviting. Clean and pristine; the workers are happily mixing and molding and inventing behind the counter; the customers are eyeing their options and complimenting the ornamental treats; the cashier was giving Chocolate Education to the questioning patrons. It was really nice. I saw Drinking Chocolate (it deserves capital letters) on the menu so obviously I had to order something with that in it. One column over I saw a drink that had Drinking Chocolate with espresso--bingo! Once I ordered, the lovely lady behind the counter asked me what kind of marshmallow I wanted. "There's options?" Yup. I got a lavender marshmallow. My my my. The drink was rich and creamy. Rich. And. Creamy. Yum. I also got two pieces of dark chocolate: one that had rosemary caramel and one that had regular caramel. Both amazing, but the rosemary caramel one was so unique, I had to close my eyes and dwell on it for a moment. Really good. My friend ordered a scoop of coffee ice cream and a shot of espresso. She poured the espresso over the ice cream and raved about how good it was....FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS lol I offered her a sip of my Drinking Chocolate a while later and she didn't want to put anything else in her mouth because she was still enjoying the taste of the coffee-spresso treat. Oh, YOU CAN CREATE YOUR OWN ICE CREAM SANDWICH HERE!! Next time :)

Was very excited to visit this place , from looking at the pics online seemed like such a variety of choices. However store was much smaller in person and not a big variety to choose from. I decided to purchase 4 pieces of chocolate each being the size of a Twix bar. First of all I was shocked that the price of these 4 pieces was $30!!! Started to tell them to keep them but they had already packaged before i knew the price. Looking back i should have told them never mind. Not only was the price outrageous they weren't very good either. The only positive thing I have to say is that the chocolates were pretty. Will not return.

Pizelle's Confections is my favorite dessert spot in Huntsville, AL. They are located in Lowe Mill (an arts center in Huntsville that resides in an old cotton mill). I've been coming here for years to get their cleverly named artisan chocolates (the "sexy back" milk chocolate and caramel is a personal favorite, as is the Bill Effin' Murray chocolate bar). They also have ice cream, beautiful and delicious mini-cakes (pictured below), and house made marshmallows (their hot chocolate is also recommended). This is a great, woman-owned local business and I am excited to be able to support them for years to come. During covid-19, they limit the number of people in the store to five at a time. Lowe Mill also strictly enforces mask wearing. Now go get some chocolate for yourself or a special person in your life!

2 Drinking Chocolates, Moonwalker and Ch-Ch-Cherry Bomb truffles, a Duke and a Bill Effing Murray

What an adorable little shop! Some of the most beautiful l truffles I have ever seen, it's hard to make a decision as to what to buy! Being a dessert lover it was a tough decision! We were lucky to happen to stop by during restaurant week so they had a few specials running which was nice. We ended up ordering two different truffles the Ch-Ch-Cherry Bomb and the Moonwalker, as well as a Duke, a Bill Effing Murray, and two of the drinking chocolates. You can choose any of their ice creams to add to the drinking chocolates so we went with the Cherry Bourbon and the Mint Chocolate Chip. They were very decadent, but so delicious! No military discount here.

It is really on Spring street just prior to Jefferson. The experience starts with the service and atmosphere. Top notch'. Came in solo and they had options inside, bar, window or wine bar. I asked what they recommended and she said the wine bar. Denise is the host de jour in the wine bar. Perfect she was great and 70's classic light rock. So cool. Check out the pics. Great place to chill drink some wine. Even cooler on a date for a nice quiet time relaxing. Denise really knew the menu and chefs. I went with the canadian bakin baguette and farmers market plate with chicken. The baguette was warmed nicely and the garlic spice butter was really good. The farmers market plate was a great surprise. All the veggies melded together perfectly. The flavor profiles with tomatoes, watermelon radish, asparagus, brocolini.... was awesome. Add in a little salty spice with sweet potato mash at the bottom. Dayum great dish. I did get the chicken with the dish. Totally not needed, the veggies carried the day. Minor feedback for the chicken would be a char on the chicken to go with the dish. I forgot about the duck fat fries and ordered them. Almost perfect. They came out piping hot with great flavor. The curry catchup and garlic aioli were great. Minor feedback is the fries did not appear twice fried. They were good but that would be the additional touch. I will count the fries as dessert. They were delicious, definitely a shareable side, I did my best on my solo date. Service continued to be amazing. Denise replaced my water bottle not because it was empty but because she thought it may be warm. Great experience, great food, great atmosphere. Definitely recommend for party or date to relax. Thanks Domaine South. Another 5* for Huntsville.
