Re: Beeline service for wheelchairs. Good: Driver v professional & courteous, even walking passenger to door at destination and opening the door. While my friends and I were waiting for the bus we saw our bus driving towards us. We literally were waving our hands and THEY DIDNT EVEN STOP. We were about to suffer a heat stroke from standing in heat for so long with no shade. We decided to go to the bus stop across the street and they didn't stop AGAIN. Note there were 3 of us and it isn't that hard to see us. I don't understand why these drivers don't stop at all the main stops. We were all around the pole holding hands like a cult- my friend is gay this might be homophobic. I feel this as a hate crime against us- also two of the three of us are Mexicans. Racist and homophobic. While I'm writing this the driver passed again and I joke you not they flipped us off. read more

It's June 20,2024 im was riding bus 42a bus number 743 to Sacramento with an extremely rude bus driver a lady with a cap and mirror type sunglasses was elderly abusing an older man with a walker telling him "don't act like you didn't see the ramp there .then she starts pulling the bus away before he could sit down making him stumble and almost falling. If you don't have patience with the public especially the elderly that pays your salary then maybe your in the wrong line of work totally unexceptionable she even commented at him when the wheel to his walker got stuck while he was getting off the bus. Better Service - Later Airport Hours SITREP As much as I rail against Sacramento Regional Transit (SacRT) and the myriad of problems associated with that service, I have to give some well-deserved props to Yolobus. THE SETUP It's IRONIC that SacRT does not have any transit out to Sacramento Airport at this time (STILL) even though it's been talked about for decades. So props for Yolobus for filling this tremendous need to we travelers would prefer to pay only $2 rather than a $40 cab ride or $25 shuttle to get to the airport. And also by honoring the SacRT monthly pass (if you have one). * Sure it's not private * Yes, it's only an hourly service * Of course, it's only available to you if you catch the stops along L Street & Capitol Mall from 15th to 4th.... But hey, I call that a win for me, even if I have to walk 11 blocks from my place to 13th & L Street to catch it. UPDATE I've also *bumped* up the overall rating to 4-Stars because they have expanded their hours - they pick up earlier in the morning and now also at night, instead of the last bus leaving from the airport to downtown at 8:27pm, it's now 10:27pm - sometimes that makes all the difference for me to get home at $2 rather than $40. There aren't any Sacramento Regional Transit (SACRT) buses that stop at Sacramento International Airport. So if you decide that you want to take public transportation instead of renting a car, you will need to take Yolobus. Yolobus routes 42A and 42B serve the airport. These were the only Yolobus routes that I took and for that matter the only bus service that I took when I visited Sacramento last weekend. Both routes basically have the same route, except that they go in opposite directions in serving Downtown Sacramento, Sacramento Airport, Woodland, Davis and West Sacramento. The two buses run hourly and this is on weekdays and weekends. So if your flight arrives just before the bus leaves, you might have to spend almost a hour at the bus stop waiting for the next one. Also make sure to take the right bus. 42A should be taken if you are headed to downtown Sacramento and 42B should be taken if you are headed to Sacramento Airport. The buses depart at different times from 13th & L in downtown Sacramento across from the California State Capitol. But the buses arrive at about the same time at the airport. Make sure to take the right one. Cause if you take the bus going in the other direction and decide to ride it to the end, it will be almost 2 hours since you got on. The Yolobus fare is quite reasonable as it is just $2. Huge savings compared with taking a taxi to downtown Sacramento. If you bought a SACRT day pass, they are accepted as a fare for Yolobus. And vice versa on SACRT if you bought a Regional Transit day pass. As for the buses themselves, they were as expected. The bus I took into downtown was a regular city bus. But I took a Greyhound/BoltBus style big bus back to the airport. If you can make the bus schedules work for you, I would recommend taking Yolobus to and from the airport. Otherwise, I would just suggest renting a car to get around Sacramento. read more

I've been riding yolobus for a year now and can say without a doubt that something is terribly wrong with this organisation. I guess it is a product of not having competition-- they can provide shitty service and be consistently late, but people that want to take the bus have no other option. I take the 230 and 43 express to downtown sac and both busses are consistently late. Drivers blame it on traffic, bit, hey here's a thought, either change your time schedule or have busses leave from a spot where you know they won't hit westbound 80 traffic in the mornings. For example, the last 43am bus is almost always 20 minutes late. On top of that some drivers are very unprofessional. I've seen drivers give the finger to other cars, curse, pick fights with riders, even stop for 10 minutes at a Carl's Junior in the middle of a route to take a dump! Maybe more people would want to take the bus if y'all were more on top of your game, yolobus. read more

I've been riding this bus for about 10 years now and there's not a single day that the bus is not late or missing or completely untrackable even though the company provides a tracking ability on their website. It's not really worth giving your money to a company that can't even adhere to a schedule that they have written for themselves if they know that their buses are always going to be late maybe they should introduce a third bus into rotation or they should just change the times. read more

I was thrown out of a bus and left in a busy stop between Sacramento and Davis after the driver kicked me out and threatened to call the police on me. I was not acting in a wrong manner, I had simply bought my ticket while boarding and the driver refused to let me stay in the bus despite buying the ticket. This driver cause emotional distress to me and I'm writing this because I truly have never felt so disrespected by a public service, but allas I have to warn others of the bad service and lack of good conduct displayed by the employees. Hopefully the driver of 42A is given what she deserves. read more

If there were any other alternate transportation I would use it. It's 2019 and this organization still doesn't have a current app with real time bus update information. Be prepared to stand outside in the heat or bad weather waiting as the routes are often delayed in the afternoon. The only way to get updated information is very antiquated. You'll need to call And get routed through their phone system in the hopes that someone picks up the phone in a timely manne. Then you have to hope they have current information twice when I've used this process I was given wrong information. If you have any issues or a disability I do not recommend this service read more

With a new arena in Downtown Sacramento, I had to find a way to avoid the traffic and expensive parking rates downtown to get to Kings games. I've tried parking at a lot near my work that I already pay for and get in and out access, but I also wanted to find another alternative. That lead me to Yolobus and their Y shuttle. Being a West Sac resident, I found out that they offer free shuttles that take you to and back from downtown during major events at the Golden 1 Center. They consider major events when the event draws a crowd of 10,000 or more. We can park our car for FREE near the West Sac Transit Center (where the Sacramento City College West Sac satellite campus is) and that's where the bus will pick you up. For a 7:30 tip off game, the first shuttle came at 6 p.m., and they run in 15 minute intervals. The bus dropped us off at 7th and Capitol where they also picked us back up after the game to take us back to our car. The total ride to and from spanned no more than 15 minutes. After the game, they start back the shuttles 5 minutes after the game ends and also comes in 15 minute intervals for an hour after the game. We took the first bus back and it was packed. And a thing to note was that it came MORE than 5 minutes after the game had ended, hence the packed bus. One of the many perks of taking this bus is that while the Capitol Mall streets were blocked during Kings games and other big events at the G1C, Sac PD allowed the Yolobus to pass through the closed street. I guess they worked out some deal with some folks way above my pay scale, which allows them to do that during these events. Totally felt like a VIP being in a ride where the cops moved barricades so your ride can get through! Now that I've discovered and experimented with this option in getting to the arena, I will now be using it more. For some reason, Sacramento Regional Transit buses don't go to the airport. Yolobus routes 42A and 42B, however, will get you from downtown Sacramento to the airport for just $2. The bus is basically an express with no stops between downtown and the airport. This is a tremendous value as cab fare is $30+. The only problem with Yolobus is it comes so infrequently (just once an hour) so it may not work with your schedule. Otherwise, this would be a five star experience. read more

Yikes. The only benefit is that they are really cheap. However, the bus drivers are rude, give you lectures about how you chose the wrong route, and don't even go the right route themselves. I was trying to go to the airport from UC Davis and they sent me to downtown Sacramento and back without taking the route on the map, which is a loop that includes the airport. The bus drivers just drive where they please, so no guarantee you'll get anywhere. read more

This bus the 42A is late every single day night. They don't care if you got work or not. The drivers show up rude as if they're not already more than 30 mins late. All they say is well it's traffic. It's like ok then why does the scheduled time show 7:33 if the bus doesn't get here until 8 or later every night? Why not just change the time so folks can plan better. No restrooms. No way to charge your phone. It's like without riders these drivers would not have jobs. They need to do better with public transportation instead of basically saying oh well you chose to ride the bus. Then when I asked to be transferred to the suggestion line the operator hung up with an attitude. read more

(I'm sitting at the airport while I write this) What I do when I take a trip is PLAN. I was driving up to Downtown Sacramento and flying back down to LAX (Los Angeles) and I'm on a budget so I figured "Hey instead of renting a car or taking a taxi I'm going to take bus to the Sac. airport". Compared to $40 for a taxi I was going to pay a couple bucks to ride the bus. I double, triple checked the bus route and where it stops etc... I wanted to be prepare because I rarely take public transit. My route to get to the airport was (Sunday Sept. 19 at 7:08) to wait on L Street off 4th. The schedule looks like the bus was just going up L street stopping at 13th 6th 5th 4th etc... (look it up Route 42B) so I figure Easy... The bus is stopping at each stop up the street. I waited... Here it comes. The driver moves to the far lane while moving closer to me... I'm Waving... And waving and the driver didn't look like s/he (?) to even look at me. I was thinking... "What the Heck!!!". Am I wrong? I checked the route but No I was reading it right. I called the Yolobus number as soon as I figured I was right. A lady picked up the phone and I told her what happened. "Oh my goodness I'm sorry about that. We were just talking about that right now". It sounded like the driver called it in as soon as s/he passed me. The drivers excuse was "I was not trained to stop there". Anyways, I'm really upset but I was claim with the lady on the phone. She took my name, number, and address. So I'm expecting a letter or at least a phone call. So what happened? I ended up having to pull money from the ATM to get a taxi because I didn't want to be late for my flight. A simple $2-$4 bus cost ended up costing me $40 for a taxi (well more like $35.20) but I let the driver keep the change. read more

I've been a frequent Yolobus rider since I was in college at UCDavis. The young me back in the day used it to go shopping at Downtown Plaza on the weekends (I know, lame) and back home to Davis from my internships during the mid-day on weekdays. It was my only mode of transportation and I was grateful that there was a bus that could get me from Sac to Davis. After college, I lived in West Sacramento for three years and became a commuter rider on the 39 route (Southport commute). Yolobus offered 4 buses in the morning and 4 buses in the evening. These buses were on time almost every day. It got me to work at 8 and was available to take me home after 5. During my last year living in West Sac, I no longer had a car to drive and became a regular rider on both the 35 (Southport regular) and 39 routes. And that's when it became very apparent what was lacking. For a young person like me, I'd like to hangout in downtown/midtown Sac on the weekends, maybe to even grab dinner. But the 35 didn't run pass 6:40 in the evenings on weekends. Crazy I tell you! Then, when I took evening classes at City, there were several occasions where the driver of my transfer bus in West Sac didn't even bother to try to radio my bus to let them know the transfer was going to be late. So inconsiderate! With the bus running only once an hour, when I missed a transfer, I stood at the ghetto bus stop on West Capitol and waited a freakin' hour at night. That was so uncool. The only reason why I'm giving Yolobus two stars instead of one is because it's an option to get home, whether or not I like it. But thank goodness I no longer have to take this bus much anymore (I only take it to the airport or to Davis once in awhile)! Public transportation isn't meant for the suburbs! read more

The absolute worst! If you have a car, drive it. If you want to be on time to wherever you're going, drive your car. If you don't want to wait 10 minutes for a bus that is later even though it says it should arrive at 6 after every hour, drive your car. It's not worth it. I'm not a regular Yolobus rider, but they've been the most convenient and cheapest form of transit for me to get to the Sacramento Airport. I hop on at 5th & E Street in Downtown Davis, where the bus has always been on time and waiting for me. The ride is about 45 minutes, which isn't too bad since it takes about half an hour to drive to the airport from where I live. The busses are clean, surprisingly quiet, and the bus drivers are nice. The ride is only $2 (or free if you hit spare the air day, like I did once!). Although I normally drive or bike to get to places, 42A and 42B are a super cheap, convenient way to get to the airport that don't require paying for an expensive cab or airport parking. read more

They could really clean their buses but the service is not the worst it's actually pretty nice plus it's only $2.25 to ride and it can take you anywhere so it's not that bad. It's good if you don't have a car and like to move around. read more

I take paratransit to and from dialysis, Davis to West Sacramento and back. The return trip is routinely late. The dispatcher has no idea how long it takes to get anywhere and fails to allot the necessary time. They ALSO routinely schedule rides going in opposite directions. read more

It's nice to have access to a bus that takes you around parts of Davis, Woodland, and Sacramento for a low fare price of $2.00 as well as request for a transfer ticket. I don't have to tip the driver like I would the airport bus drivers and taxis. Heck of a deal. read more

Absolutely adore the young fashionable Bus Driver on the 42! He is always the consummate professional, his driving skills are beyond his years, he doesn't let any passengers get harassed or messed with either ! Yolo Bus , you need to know that you got a really good one in him ! I appreciate feeling safe on your bus because of him , so many others let crap go because it's probably the course of least resistance, more should be like the young one (wish I knew his name he has reddish hair with blonde streaks and always has a smile) read more

Horrible. Schedule said last bus.of the evening gets there at a certajn time, friver flies by the stop 7 mins early. I call customer service and am tols driver sat for 2 mins wich is irrelavant if still leaves 5 mins early. Yea drivers wanna get home, so do those of us who take.the bus. read more

Bad news: You get what you get with drivers: friendly, rude, silent, chatty. Big issue is when they do not stop the riders from radio playing, pot smoking, cursing, bringing non-service dogs on bus, loud conversations, usually of an inappropriate nature, people blocking aisles or taking up seats with bags and carts. Really do not understand why they don't refill bus schedule rack before leaving depot in the morning. Annoying when drivers 'visit' with a rider and don't pay full attention to the road. Some give free rides to their friends and others ask for senior/disabled/student i,d, twice a day, 5 days a week...same driver. Good news is buses are usually clean (windows are filthy!), most buses show up within 15 mins of scheduled time (except the 41-gave up on Bus 41), the bus company does answer phones promptly, That said,occasionally a driver will say :hello, goodbye, thank you, your welcome or wait until you are seated before taking off. I agree this is a good deal, financially. That said, there's plenty of room for improvement. (This review refers to the 42 lines.) I think SOME drivers need to consider another field since they appear to hate customer service. Last time I took the bus, the driver had the radio volume up so it was audible to all the passengers, which was fine, BUT another driver was smack-talking one of her customers for all of us to hear! Rude. My teenaged kids have had multiple bad experiences with the bus passing them by or being WAY off schedule when they're coming back to Woodland from Davis in the afternoons. Mornings are not usually a problem, except that the busiest time often has more people wanting to bring bikes than the three slots they have for bikes, so you might have to lock your bike at the mall for the day. read more

If you have options to take either a lyft, Uber, sidecar, or taxi, choose those options. Because if you pick the yolobus as your method of transportation YOU WILL BE LATE. This bus only mainly only runs once every hour from 5am-10am and then doesn't resume again until 1pm. Then it only runs until 6pm and picks up again at 9pm-1am. They have a schedule for when the bus stops at the varies stops but for some odd reason IT IS NEVER THERE at those times. The dispatch will tell you to arrive ten minutes early before the scheduled time, but unless you're the first stop of that schedule, show up on time because you will be waiting 10+ minutes after the scheduled time. You would think they would take steps to ensure that drivers were at stops on time or at least put more buses on the road for all times and days. The drivers with exception of maybe four are extremely rude and have no qualms about arguing with you. Dispatch is a little nicer, but sometimes will tell you a bus is late and then when that bus doesn't show up and you call back, they will then tell you is passed and no one told you that it was late. So ask for their names if you ever have to call. So I'm rating this business, one star for poor customer service, no sense of time or punctuality, and rude drivers. read more

terrible bus...my husband's car had some problem and so he had to take yolobus to work for 3 weeks. The bus was never on time sometimes he waits for hours to find out that the bus skipped his stop. terrible customer service...terrible drivers. They are unfriendly. When I took this bus with my baby in the stroller...the driver was lowering the ramp to walk in the stroller without even warning me move out of way...I was badly hurt and he seemed not even to care. I started riding public transit back in 1970 when I was 12 years old. I watched MTA change to RTD and back to MTA and not get really good until the 2000's. I even tried driving for them in 1996. Didn't like it and switched to school bus driver in 1998. I'm saying this to illustrate my perspective on the profession. I know what hectic scheduling, traffic management and looney patrons can be like. After moving to Sacramento in 2003 and experiencing the grouchy operators, ridiculous routing and haphazard direction of Regional Transit, I wondered what the YoloBus might be like because from a few times riding it over a 10 year span, and working recently in Broderick, I presumed that the operators were less stressed and therefore mellower. After some recent riding chats with a few operators, I discovered that they actually are not so easy going. Even with less ridership, traffic and really slow schedules (one hour frequency), many are just as irritable less patient as the RT drivers. And I do know what burn-out is. Dealing with traffic and malicious rude patrons and traffic daily can wear your nerves out. But then, like blood and gore is to an EMT or ambulance driver, it all comes with the job and you may as well man up to it. read more
