Instead of 2 eggs rolls, it came with one but was still delicious. Pick up was seamless inside the store other than finding parking on the Main Street. Couldn't get a feel for the ambiance in that time but there were some people dining in and many takeout orders. Service was quick and my order was ready to go as soon as I walked in the door. It is my favorite area Chinese place for one main reason: in all that time, I have never had a bad meal here. Although I wouldn't recommend dining in-house, it's a great take-out spot. I grew up eating at Jade Island on Staten Island so if you know that place, you know the bar is set high. The dumplings at Chinese Delite are hand made on premise. They are meaty and flavorful. That can't be said often at some of the other local Chinese establishments. Tonight I ordered an Egg Roll and Chicken with Straw Mushrooms. Although the egg roll can't compare to Jade Island, it's darn respectable. The only knock I have on it is that it's a bit small. The main course was EXCELLENT. Tender strips of chicken are drenched in a delicious brown sauce. The dish is finished with straw mushrooms which cradle the sauce, bamboo strips and crunchy carrots. I like to tell myself the dish is healthy because of all the veggies, but I know better. The Pepè Factor: What is this your ask? I don't know how this started, but one of the staff guys started calling me Pepè. Even typing this now , I am giggling. No one has ever called me Pepè! And every time he does, I literally have to bite my lip to keep from laughing! At first I was going to tell him that wasn't my name, but now it's been years and I dont have the heart to tell him. As a child took my order and payment, this is clearly a family business. So I've only had one dish at this place. I can say for freshness of ingredients, it's excellent. For amount of meat added, average. Unfortunately my dish was extremely bland. I had to add 7 packets of various sauce and that was still not enough. As I make this dish at home, the main sauce is soy. I wish I had grabbed more. Speaking of sauce, no sauce, forks, chopsticks or napkins were added or offered. I'm glad I checked and added on my own.
