10/9/25 - Midweek usually means my daughter wants Chinese food. So tonight, I went to Chinese Delite in Sayreville, NJ which has been my go-to Chinese take-out place for several decades. It is my favorite area Chinese place for one main reason: in all that time, I have never had a bad meal here. Although I wouldn't recommend dining in-house, it's a great take-out spot. I grew up eating at Jade Island on Staten Island so if you know that place, you know the bar is set high. The dumplings at Chinese Delite are hand made on premise. They are meaty and flavorful. That can't be said often at some of the other local Chinese establishments. Tonight I ordered an Egg Roll and Chicken with Straw Mushrooms. Although the egg roll can't compare to Jade Island, it's darn respectable. The only knock I have on it is that it's a bit small. The main course was EXCELLENT. Tender strips of chicken are drenched in a delicious brown sauce. The dish is finished with straw mushrooms which cradle the sauce, bamboo strips and crunchy carrots. I like to tell myself the dish is healthy because of all the veggies, but I know better. The Pepè Factor: What is this your ask? I don't know how this started, but one of the staff guys started calling me Pepè. Even typing this now , I am giggling. No one has ever called me Pepè! And every time he does, I literally have to bite my lip to keep from laughing! At first I was going to tell him that wasn't my name, but now it's been years and I dont have the heart to tell him. This is a great local Chinese restaurant that offers takeout, small dining area and free delivery. The people that work here are so nice and friendly. They offer a great selection of tasty food from lunch, combos and pint or quart portion sizes. At times they'll even include a pint of extra food for their customers to sample, plus a free full bottle of soda. read more

This place is Chinese food like Panda Express- cheap, fast, and no frills. I didn't know that, but once I accepted it, I really enjoyed my meal from here. The chicken in the general taso's was all the same size, fried crispy, with a very sweet bright orange sauce. Nothing special at all, but not bad. The cheese wontons and egg roll were both fried very well and super crunchy. Rib tips were cheap and tasty, but a bit rubbery. Lots of veggies in the veg lo mein, which I liked, and the dumplings had a lot of meat in them. The dipping sauce was a little spicy, which was different, but not bad. Came back for takeout. The food is consistently good even after all these years. The chicken wings are generously sized, the beef lo mein is saucy but not greasy, and the pork fried rice is a guilty pleasure. This is my go to for comfort food in Sayreville still. read more

My number one Chinese take out in Sayreville. Been eating there since I was a kid since it's right near my school. The food and the taste remains the same since then. I recommend to anyone new to the town or visiting. read more

Love this place -- never had an issue here. Always get the sesame chicken, fried rice (any variety), and egg rolls from here, so good!

good food. crappy service. over 1.5 hours for delivery. told 40 minutes. I called and offered to pick up, girl lied and said food was on way. now, 20 minutes later, sweats it was just picked up. annoying!!! read more

Pretty disappointed in my one experience with them. They didn't have Chicken Teriyaki stick appetizers like most similar places. And the Sesame Chicken Combo's sauce had more of a Ketchup taste than a traditional Chinese food taste. Portion size on the combos were good. And the Lo Mein was overflowing from the box. Ordered lo mein- came out as almost soup. Literally- there was enough liquid that it could have passed as soup. Not the tastiest. Only went once, never again. And I literally live a block away. read more

I used to order from here when I first moved to the area but that stopped after they continually forgot parts of take out order. Then it completely ended when I went inside to pick my food up one day. The inside is not very clean and I wasn't too thrilled as I watched how the cooks were prepping other food as they sat there eating. I will not be back here again. This is a bad place to get Chinese food, considering that there are several better Chinese restaurants within 5 miles. It's easy to tell that the ingredients used here are of low quality, and is the same price as the higher quality restaurants in the area. The chicken is usually very fatty and chewy, and the rice is usually dry. The restaurant itself is pretty filthy. If you want my advice, drive a few minutes in any direction and there will be a better Chinese restaurant. read more

Its not flushing queens ny, but its pretty good for Chinese... The portions are good and i usually like to get the ribs. The lunch specials are great selection and a great price for its size and the soup size.. My guy friend family been coming here for 20 years it a good local neighborhood place... Went here a couple of times and didn't really like any of the dishes I'm familiar with from other Asian restaurants as they didn't taste remotely similar. I never suspected anything shady with the place just there own spin on the food that wasn't to my liking. I prefer lam's down the street. read more

Watched "chef" drop a piece of chicken on the floor and then pick it up and put it into the fryer. I would NEVER eat here again!!!
