The donuts themselves here aren't that good. Their texture is quite stale. However, the unique flavors are cool! Also, I like how they have mini versions of each donut. That's super considerate when one wants to try multiple flavors. The thing that is a must try here is their smashed donut. It is a donut with ice cream sealed inside by a warmer, cut in half, then topped off with yummy toppings, varying on which flavor is chosen. I REALLY like the biscoff one. The contract between a hot heated donut and cold sweet ice cream is awesome. Fortunately for me, my donut ice cream sandwiches came out quickly after ordering. Though, it did take some time for the servers to have a moment to take my order. The team here is really kind. As far as I know, this place is a locally own location, based on what the owner said when their first opened. I love supporting my community so I will be returning for those yummy smashed donuts! I will say that I've been to Yonutz a few times now and each time my experience has been slightly better. I've been to this location twice and the Orem one once. The two times I've been here we were met by the owner of the Franchise and he was very kind and helpful making our menu choices. We tried both the smashed ice cream and the smashed donut and I definitely feel like the smashed donuts are the way to go and as far as the flavor to pick I don't think you can go wrong. The one consistent thing I have noticed about Yonutz in general is the use of cheap frosting, they use it on their donuts and their specialty items well. It's not good and they need to change it if they want to be known as a good donut shop. read more

I'm actually really impressed by Yonutz! The prices were really great, especially for the shakes. I swear you can't get desserts anymore that aren't 10 dollars per person. And the freaking decor? Get out of town! It's adorable and so family friendly. The girls who served us were so nice and friendly and the service was quick, too, which I loved. My only criticism is the lack of ice cream choices, but I realize it's more about the whole experience than just the ice cream. I got the key lime donut and it was so yummy! My husband got the simply smashed donut with strawberry cheesecake ice cream and said, "wow, that's cool" when he took his first bite! There was enough seating for everyone who came in and it was a Friday night, but it was mostly couples, so take that into consideration if you're bringing your whole family. Yonutz is a specialty type dessert restaurant where you can buy Instagram worthy treats for some great pictures. However, it feels like it's just that. The main advertised item the smashed donut is not good. The frosting used tastes like cheap store bought jars and the donuts are stale and gross. Which is sad since it's the item they are most known for. So you might be confused by my rating. But the smash icecream was actually not that bad. I really wanted to like this place. I saw an ad for it on Facebook and I was so excited to try the smashed doughnut. First impressions - super cute presentation. The store is adorable. Lots of Instagram photo opportunities. Fun vibe. But the staff never welcomed me when I came in the store. In fact, after they were done serving the person in front of me, they turned away and started scrolling on their cell phone. I had to then ask them if they could serve me. Maybe this is just my personal preference, but I like a "hello! Let me know what I can do for you when you're ready..." or a "Welcome in! I'll be right with you" type of greeting. We got our pickup order which was a Cookie Dough SMASHED donut and a Nutella Crunch SMASHED donut. I paid $21.30 ($17.90 plus tax and tip). The donut itself is OK. It threw me off that the donut was not glazed. It was just plain, and that made it feel a little dry. The ice cream is not high-quality just middle of the road. The toppings are just OK. The portion size is on the smaller side for the price of $8.95 before tax and tip. I would expect this size/quality of dessert to be priced around $4.95 - $5.95. Overall, it's just okay. This store is so cute with tons of fun colors. The staff was very helpful with all our questions and helping us choose what menu items we wanted. We got a smash donut and it was really interesting. I would have never thought to fill a donut with ice cream but it totally works. Very messy but oh so yummy. We also got a few donuts. My husband loves filled donuts and said every one he tried was really yummy. I shared the strawberry sprinkles with my son and we both loved it. We were looking for a sweet treat and the Yelp search led us here. It wasn't too busy at 5 pm on a weekday. The line of two people didn't seem too daunting, so we joined. I don't think the girls being the counter had too much training, they were taking a long time to get to us. Waiting patiently, a family of five joined the line behind my wife and myself. While waiting to order, the girl at the front skipped us and started taking the order of the family. No big deal, I flagged her down after and told her we were skipped. She was nice about it and took our order but put in the family order first. These smashed donuts take a while to make, so we were waiting for over thirty minutes at this point. When we did get our smashed donuts, they were pretty scrumptious. I think they could use a higher quality donut but it was still pretty good.
