I've been wanting to try their breakfast for a while because I'd heard great things. I originally wanted the croissant French toast, but they were out of the cream that goes in it. I asked if it made a difference, and she said it definitely does, so I decided to get the sweet retreat crepes instead. They were pretty good! I was excited to try this place when I saw they had panini's on this cold snowy evening. I ordered the Turkey Pepper jack Panini: Turkey, pepper jack cheese, russets red peppers, chipotle aioli, sun-dried tomatoes mayo on sourdough. It was cold, and the bread mushy. I was so disappointed. The waffle fries were excellent tho, My husband ordered the Avenue Cheesesteak: Steak, mushrooms, onions, red peppers, and provolone on ciabatta bread. My husband also said his wasn't warm and I noticed it was a roll not ciabatta. He said the roll tho tasted fresh and was really good, his order came with Lay's chips. Bought some fresh bread and macaroons. Te macaroons were really tasty. The cashier was friendly. The restaurant is cute with several kinds of donuts, yummy tasty desserts, fresh bread, cinnamon rolls and cookies as well as some cute retail purchases like towels, hats, postcards etc, At 7pm I was quite surprised how many donuts were still left on the shelf in an open shelf system behind the counter. Another thing that was a huge turnoff was as the amount of gnats flying around. My guess is there is rotting food near the booths we were sitting in. Upon seeing Avenue Bakery's gluten free options we had to check them out for lunch and we're glad we did. We each had sandwiches I opted for a simple turkey, bacon and avocado. The GF bread was superb making for a great sandwich. We also bought a log of GF sourdough, GF dinner rolls and four cinnamon rolls. Super clean and nice bakery very safe spot for celiacs. read more

The actual food is pretty good with lots of gluten free options. Paninis, soups, salads. The desserts aren't amazing however and I wouldn't really recommend them. Service is fast and friendly and the restaurant is quiet for a nice lunch. Overall, it's alright but not amazing. read more

Bakeries have a tough business model and few make. This bakery has been a standout for years. The regular pastry items are incredible in terms of taste and presentation. They sell out of donuts all the time so I have to get there early if if want my first choices. What fun little place, we came here on a whim not really knowing what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised. First off they have a lounging cool area for the cooler young crowd and then booth and table seating for the family's so they have accommodations for everyone. We tried some of their desserts. I had a donut and my wife tried the chocolate dome. We both enjoyed them to the last bite. The chocolate dome did taste like it had been sitting out for a long time but that's probably because it was because we came after dinner so there is a good chance it had been there all day but it still tasted great. Drive slowly when you're close because I totally missed it and ended up in a lot full of rental cars or something. This place does have a parking lot with enough spaces which is awesome. I walked in and was so impressed with the gluten free selection although I was looking to buy a loaf of bread and they didn't have any so I think it varies throughout the day. I got the gluten free cheesesteak sandwich and WOW that bread is so fluffy and big and thick!! I really enjoyed it. The sweet potato fries were good too. My friend got the regular cheesesteak sandwich and he said it was decent. I have to agree there are much better gluten-FULL cheesesteak sandwiches out there but all the standards change when you can't eat gluten anymore. I have driven by this place many times, so many times, eyeing it off to my right, mentally making a note I'd really like to try it at some point, but never having the stars quite align to put me in vicinity at a time where I'd want to sample what I hoped were their luscious, luscious wares...then one day, the clouds did part, the sun did shine and I managed to figure out their...curious parking situation enough to stop. I'm glad I did. It's important to scratch these itches when and where you can and after checking out the coolers (no idea what's going on there...something with soups, possibly?) and the pre-packaged stuff, most of which looked good and some of it even tempting, I opted to head for the display cases. Now, every bakery should be a French-style bakery and this is not even my opinion, but rock hard solid fact. I was thus somewhat disappointed, though they had many intriguing things, such as a chocolate tart with what looked like thinly stamped gold on it, when I saw donuts and more "normal" stuff. Silently cursing my lust for all things French bakery, I started looking for stuff to settle on when my eyes lit on it. Could this truly be what I beheld? Indeed, it was, the much vaunted Kouign Amann and their very own version. Well, say no more, and I had to get me one of those (and a tart) and I didn't make it too far down the street before greedily tearing into it, as I was past due, oh so very past due. Their version was solid and hit the spot, but was not what I would say is among the best I've had. To be fair, that is very rarified air, though. The chocolate tart I liked a lot less well. It was overly sweet for me, though I did rather love the raspberries, which were probably the best thing I had overall. Definitely want to stop by again when they have more selection and dig in a bit further, but there is a lot to like here and well worth a visit. read more

This has become one of our top breakfast spots and given that it's almost a 30 minute drive depending on the time of day, I take that as a good sign. For breakfast our go-to now is the bacon avocado omelette. You might like the French toast if you're into denser bread, the skillet is pretty good, and we thought the panini was alright. Our friends loved their crepe. Whatever you get though, their donut selection and quality are pretty amazing. It's super hard to leave there without getting a few to go. We recently puchased a 4 pack of gluten free cinnamon rolls at Avenue Bakery. We will not be returning to this location!! The Cinnamon rolls that we purchased were stale/hard and soggy on the bottom, obviously they had been sitting out for a few days. For the 4 rolls we paid $16 (with tax). That is a lot of money for stale cinnamon rolls. When we called the location and told the girl about this her response was "uh huh." She then told us that those items in packages are the older items and are usually 2-3 days old. Beware of their packaged items. They are not fresh and you pay a lot of money for them!! read more

Cute little bakery with AMAZING looking deserts. We will be back to try some more out. Our baked mac and cheese was delicious but in my opinion the French onion soup was definitely lacking. I was envisioning hot melty cheese on top and was disappointed when it came out just a plain broth ‍. The main reason I'm giving 3/5 stars is because the wait was OVER 20 minutes for our simple 2 items to come out even though there were only 2 other tables eating at the time. Let's start with the face of the bakery! The service is excellent. They are knowledgable and convey a vibe that they truly love working there. That speaks volumes about the dedication to the bakery and the food! This place is fantastic for those that are Gluten Free! We stopped to get some GF cinnamon rolls and decided to stay for lunch. My wife and I both had the Tuscan Chicken panini. Her's was GF with sweet potato fries. Mine was normal with waffle fries. Both were excellent! I love the down home feel and witnessed one patron setting up work on his laptop during lunch. It's like an awesome, unpretentious version of that well known Seattle coffee company. I don't usually give into the temptation of donuts but Avenue Bakery has been calling my name for weeks now and I finally gave in. It appeared to be a popular spot, so I had high expectations going in and I was still impressed. I love that they even have a mural on their exterior from Sarah Meitler, a popular local muralist, which I think helps the building look more fresh and new. They have much more seating than I guessed and while some of their seats look a little old, they are still plenty comfortable and match the aesthetic of a bakery/cafe. They have a great breakfast menu that ends at around 11:20 am and then it switches to a lunch/dinner menu. I snagged a Breakfast Panini right before the menu switched, a white sprinkle donut (my personal favorite), and a cappuccino. I absolutely loved the chipotle aioli and it was large enough that I really didn't need the donut, especially since it was plated with a few orange slices which was the perfect amount of sweet after my savory panini. The white sprinkle donut was the best donut I've had in Utah. I'm not a huge donut fanatic but I've tried my fair share and the dough at Avenue Bakery completely blew me away. I imagine all of their donuts are top notch and I can't wait to go back again. While the food was stellar, the cappuccino left me wanting, it was very hot and pretty regular. That being said, it wasn't below average and wasn't a deal breaker for me. I'm happy to give them a pass on average coffee since it's not their primary focus. I love this bakery, so quaint, lovely, a great place to meet a friend and get baked goods with hot chocolate. We are HUGE fans of their glazed donuts, they are PERFECTION. Chocolate-raised ones are also good, as well as their glazed twists. I try not to come here too often because I'm seriously addicted to their glazed donuts. The tiramisu is pretty great as well. The chocolate eclairs, I've had better so skip those and get a glazed donut in its place. Looks like they also sell birthday cakes, ice cream cones, mini cheesecakes, fruit tarts, and cupcakes. In addition, they sell bread, bagels, and a "grab and go" drink section which contains chocolate milk, milk, and orange juice. The restaurant decor is well kept and modern. read more

This place is adorable and you can tell it's a spot for the locals. They have comfort food by way of breakfast and have a wide variety of baked goods to please everyone. Their coffee menu is a bit basic, but that is probably due to their larger food menu. I had a cappuccino and the breakfast panini which were both pretty solid. The wait staff were all friendly and kept the place clean, with a warm atmosphere. The only small downside was waiting a bit longer than expected for the basic food, but it was also a busy Saturday morning. As soon as I walked in, I knew I was in love. The delicious scent of pastries hit me hard. My knees nearly wobbled as I made my way to the counter to order. Then I remembered-I had a box full of treats in my car and was here for savory. Darn. Next time I'll get a donut. Or two. Instead of giving in to my craving for sweets, I stuck with the cashier's recommendation-the white chicken chili. After all, it was cold outside and a warm soup sounded like a good idea. She took my order, gave me a number and told me to take a seat and my soup would be out shortly. While I waited, I observed the bakery. There's an area with ready-made goodies packaged and available to take home. There was a wall of shelves to hold gluten-free items, although most of the shelves were empty. (Perhaps these are custom orders that people call in ahead and I just happened to be there when there were not many orders?) There are also tables around the place for you to dine in and enjoy your food. It's cozy and comfortable. A My soup came out in a few minutes and I dove right in. I could tell that it was fresh and made locally-not heated up in a microwave. Unfortunately, the taste of cream was a bit strong for me and I was not able to finish it. I chalked it up to my weird taste buds, since I know this is the biggest hit here and everyone else seems to like it. I'll just try something different next time. Probably a dessert. read more

For a gluten friendly bakery, it is incredibly cautionary that their staff is not trained to protect their customers with gluten sensitivity. I was given normal bread after requesting gluten free and after triple checking and told otherwise I was not comped or even offered an apology.
