While staying at the nearby Westin, which is walking distance, I popped into Yorktown Center for nothing more than wandering around a mall and maybe grabbing a quick bite from a mall food court. I was able to achieve both here! Yorktown Center and mall are the anchor of this area and have all the classic vibes of an interior mall while being surrounded by open-air shopping and eateries. Additionally, this complex also has a movie theater an a gym. So, multi-faceted and mixed used for sure. The mall has a lot of the standard mall store you expect, but they also have a good variety of smaller branded stores and even some local shops. Like any other mall right now, there were serval empty store fronts. While the shops were cool to wander through and by, I came for the food court, which is huge! Featured a solid selection of chain and local spots. The mall was clean and well kept. Worn in some places, but for the most part in good shape. Overall, solid spot to spend some time at, with or without purpose. read more

Another location I was torn between giving 4 or 5 stars. "Malls" in 2025 are hard to review as we're in such a weird space between in-person and online shopping but for what a traditional mall to me should be, I had to give 4 stars. Firstly, I appreciated that this mall is located walking distance from a big store-front shopping center, including a hotel and stores like Target and a bus stop. A circus was on tour in the parking lot the same weekend I arrived here, which I would assume would've brought more business to the mall. It seems to be a good spot for pop-up events like that. And secondly, service dogs are welcomed for those that need them. Overall I had a great experience with the stores that this mall does have, including the biggest highlight being at Victoria Secret's where the staff greeted me, gave me a post-weight loss bra fitting and great service when checking out with my new items! Vacancies are plenty-full in this mall unfortunately and specifically I want to mention Barbra's Bookstore - a small owned bookstore in the mall that I 1000000% wanted to support, mostly because they fullllllly advertised their banned book section and had tote bags for sale around the store branded with those same banned books *see pictures* , BUT - no one acknowledged me in the store & I don't appreciate that. Decent mall, decent stores, great food court (Burning Mouth being the best place) - with lounging, sitting area. There's also a family bathroom in this mall, located by the food court that is HUGE - and I'm sure helpful to mothers nursing. A family, small-oriented mall indeed! read more

05/28/25 - Yorktown Center located in Lombard IL. I went to my wife's eye doctor for a follow up after she had cataract surgery yesterday. It's been years since I've been out here but I use to work down the street in Oakbrook a lifetime ago. They have their anchor tenants like Von Maur & JC Pennys (for how long?). It's a nice spacious clean mall w/a limited number of stores but a nice selection. The thing that I found very appealing is the high volume space w/lots of natural lighting through skylights running down the center of the mall. The mall is super clean & well maintained. They also have a food court but like most malls the food options are somewhat limited Overall this mall is somewhere in the middle for me above malls like HIP or Golf Mill (sad), but behind the Fashion Outlet Mall or Woodfield read more

Two of the escalators are still out of order. The one outside of Penney's has been out since Christmas. I don't understand the problem. Older people need those escalators. Also, dogs are allowed in and you need to watch your step when walking around the mall. Most dog walkers are there to walk their dogs and are never seen shopping. Also, many do not even attempt to clean-up after their pets. Terrible!! Please fix the escalators and return to a 'no dogs' policy. Thank you. read more

This mall is really depressing. So many vacancies with mostly small businesses. A lot of them were selling funko pops and anime stuff. There was an overly aggressive woman working at a kiosk selling hair appliances that I had to duck into a store to escape. Businesses were pretty dead, with employees standing around looking bored. On a regular basis, I estimate that at least 50% of the stores in Yorktown Center (excluding the food court) close 30+ minutes earlier than the store-specific established hours of operation. In all, the failed shopping trip wasted about 40 minutes of my night. The close time for the majority of the stores is 9pm, which is the time Yorktown Center closes in general. Tonight, I arrived at Yorktown Center at 8:26pm, and upon entering the mall, I was met with dim lights and several businesses that had already pulled down the metal gate in front of the store entrance. I gulped and double timed my walking pace to my destination, Zumiez. As I approached the corner where the entrance to Zumiez is first visible, I gritted my teeth and leaned sideways, eager to see the store entrance. To my disappointment, they too had lowered The Gate of Displeasure. This is especially disappointing because I worked at that Zumiez when I was in high school for one summer, and I can't recall a single time we closed the gate early, nor did any of the other stores nearby. If business is slow, then you take that time (last 30 minutes) to begin inventory, clean, tidy up the shop and merchandise, etc. If there are no customers in the shop with only 5 minutes before close, then it is somewhat reasonable to drop the gate since any new shopper would likely be there past business hours. Contrarily, I don't think the gate should ever be down before the close time that is posted. If someone shows up minutes before close, you could instead kindly tell them you aren't accepting new customers due to the time. read more

I used to love this mall, but now it always smells and you have to watch out for dog poop because people don't clean up after their dogs. Von Maur smelled awful when we walked past. I also saw two piles of dog poop when we were walking around the mall. Horrible idea to have dogs in the mall!! read more

Maintenance is very poor. Two escalators out of 5 did not work for a long time. Finally, they fixed one. Other one is down for nearly a year. There is no real drinking water fountain in the mall. The one near washrooms is not working for nearly two years. You have to try very hard to get a decent gulp of water. I wonder ...whether management is aware of these problems?? read more

Yorktown is awesome. It might not have everything, but JC Penney and Von Maur are great to have. Yes, it is a bit tricky finding some stores here when Oak Brook is down the street, but it's great to walk around and I'm pretty sure you'll end up finding something here for you. ALL THE MALL THINGS Yorktown Center sure has changed a lot since I was a kid. Writing this review gets me all nostalgic and a bit teary-eyed. I came here a LOT growing up in the 1990's and early 2000's, with scores of memories formed while walking around the mall, visiting the various shops and engaging in some light mischief. JC Pennys and Von Maur remain the anchor stores, though over the years Yorktown has added a Marshalls and Forever 21 that each occupy a large space. Victoria Secret is still here, so are Yankee Candle, Lids, Hot Topic, Zumiez, and many others. Of course no mall would be complete without your one-stop shop for blacklight posters, sex toys and rubber dog poo.....the infamous Spencers. Hard to believe I once thought they were 'cool'. Back in '97 the corner of the 2nd floor foodcourt was home to the legendary Aladdin's Castle, an arcade chain that I pumped an insane number of tokens into. That place was awesome! These days the area is just additional seating & bathrooms, sadly. There IS a new age video arcade called The Game Show that's not technically inside the mall, but rather on the outskirts of it (admission is $15 for unlimited play). Seasonal displays were always a big draw for my family and I. Photo ops with the Easter Bunny and Santa became an annual tradition, and the gigantic tree lit up on the roof of the mall was more than just a symbol of the holidays, it was a beacon you could see for miles. Yorktown still decorates really well for Christmas, it's something definitely worth checking out in December. The foodcourt -- now called "The Eatery" -- has a mix of both old (Auntie Anne's, Panda Express, Sbarro, Sarku Japan, Cinnabon) and new (Burnin' Mouth Hot Chicken, Cilantro Taco Grill, Nori Sushi & Ramen, Charley's Philly Steaks). It's sleeker, brighter, and yes, modernized, but it's missing the eye-catching fountains and live trees of yore. Heck, a couple decades ago they had real birds flying around the atrium! I liked the old vibe way better, it felt much more alive than the sterilized dining space it is now. * TL;DR * Although it may be lacking the wide-open feel of Fox Valley Mall (Aurora) or Woodfield Mall (Schaumburg), Yorktown Center remains a solid place to walk around and do some casual shopping. It's true that the foodcourt's gotten the biggest facelift, but several other areas (including the façade out front) have received a makeover that makes this indoor mall look like it belongs the 21st century. I'll always remember the good ol' days, and that earns Yorktown some major points in my book. read more

Poor experience today!!!! Went to the mall with my family and handicapped father-in-law to go to the food court only to find an Escalator and Elevator out of order!!!!! Not a good experience am for a handicapped, elderly person. Really need to do a better job and possibly post signage at your front door to notify customers before they enter. Not very thoughtful and not very good for other businesses in the mall. read more

There are lots of stores here, and it seems to be busy no matter what time of day it is. Caution lots of entitled people here that will bump into you, not hold the door for you, or give you dirty looks in the parking lot. Other than that, large variety of stores to visit. Von Maur is way overpriced, and you can go 2 miles down the road to get it 30% cheaper. Very dog friendly mall, so beware if you're not a dog lover!! read more

My husband and I went to Yorktown Center to meet up with a friend for breakfast. We ate at Honey Berry Cafe. After we had breakfast, we decided to go to Gloria Jean's for coffee. On the way, we passed by the Eatery. After we had our coffee, we walked around the mall for a bit. On our walk, we passed by many Christmas decorations. We went to JCPenny, Last Chance, and Von Maur and did some Christmas shopping. I stopped at one bathroom near the big Christmas tree, and as soon as I opened the door, I was disgusted beyond belief. We frequent Yorktown for several reasons: 1) They have a small section with an artificial lawn in which they would freshen up according to the seasonal changes and holidays. So far, we've seen displays for Valentine's Day, spring, fall, Halloween, and Christmas. They would even have games such as connect the dots and faux bricks for toddlers to play with. We can easily spend half an hour in that section. 2) They have updated a few new and appealing additions to their food selections, such as Molly's Cupcakes. We're hoping to give Burning Mouth Nashville Hot Chicken a try! 3) They open early for people to walk. This is particularly beneficial for us with young toddlers so we can arrive early before shoppers and enjoy the play area without a crowd. read more

A lot of stores are closing here. There are a lot of vacant stores and a lot of mom and Pop no name unfamiliar name stores and I have a feeling that this might be heading the way of Stratford eventually they closed the Paul Mitchell beauty school in here. The gap closed in here sometime ago, of course Carson is gone. They're demolishing that part of it to make it apartments. Yeah they have a Dave & Buster's and some restaurants around there, but I don't think that's gonna save the mall. There's too many vacancies and too many no-name stores and that's exactly what happened to Stratford before it started going downhill and I have the same vibe here I'd gone to Stratford all the time and never there's no reason for me to go here besides Victoria's Secret store or maybe Marshall's I don't understand why it's so crowded. It's always a pleasure coming to the mall here. Great store selections, never overcrowded except when it's lunch and dinner time in the food court area, that can be quite hectic! Parking is plenty especially if you know where to park where not so many people enter through like the JCPenney side . The tree and Santa were already out, I fee its a little bit too early but it was nice to see. The only downfall is the mall is allowing people to bring their dogs, which I get in today's world people have emotional pets but it's getting out of hand. The dog right in front of me took a nice dump & I almost walked right into it, which would have been a problem if it had gotten on my shoes. People need to be more responsible with their dogs beforehand making sure they're going to the washroom before walking in the mall. This is now the second time this has occurred. read more

This was a very clean mall with a good selection of stores. It's pet friendly as I saw a number of pet owners walking with their dogs. There's a good assortment of restaurants in the food court and the surrounding area. It wasn't busy on a Sunday Boxing Week morning which made it a pleasant shopping experience. read more

Once you have kids, you live in a mall. JK but I do feel like I am definitely frequenting malls more than I ever have in life due to having a toddler living in a winter climate. Visited this mall on a Friday night. It was surprisingly empty (hello where are the teens? or do teens not hang at the mall anymore). Its a pretty big mall with two levels and that go in multiple directions. We hung out in the free kids play area in the center of the mall where there is a huge climbing area and cushy ground to fall. Great if you need an activity for kids. When the free area became filled with older kids, we hit up Funflatables, a paid activity with a bunch of bouncy houses based on kid age ranges. This one was a lot of fun and our daughter didn't want to go. Lastly - because any review of a mall without commenting on the food court would be lacking, we did hit up the food court. It's on the 2nd level , kind of a hidden gem, and had SO many options. I was kind of shocked. There are also floor to ceiling windows that provide a view of the western suburb landscape which kind of gave it an airport , relaxed feel. Overall - loved this mall, the spaciousness, stores, food court and of course kids activities. read more

I echo the sentiments of what other Yelpers have written about this mall. It's in a confusing spot as it's not super upscale, but it's not super discount either. It's quite large, but doesn't exactly exude that personality. The store selection is alright, but I prefer to mix seen in the Westfield malls instead. The most unique draw here is probably the food court. It covers all different styles of cuisine and offers better options than what I typically see in other malls. Prices are also surprisingly reasonable at these restaurants with big portion sizes offered. With JC Penny and Von Maur as the anchor stores, it's fewer than you'd expect from a mall this size. There is a Homegoods / Marshalls and Last Chance though to supplement these -- with a Target nearby. In doing this, the mall / shopping center appeals to everyone -- but for me it's not quite as good as the layout and choices of shopping centers in Vernon Hills. The style also doesn't appeal to me as much as the outlet malls in Pleasant Prarie, Aurora, or Rosemont. If I'm shopping nearby, I feel Oakbrook Center, Woodfield Mall, or Old Orchard provide a more interesting set of stores. Overall, large and covers all different varieties of shopping needs. But, I feel a modernization (outside of the food court) is needed to make this a more attractive shopping destination for me. read more

This used to be such a very nice mall many years ago. Now it seems to have turned into a pitiful skeleton of its former being. We were looking for certain types of stores and they were listed as being at the small plus it was convenient to where we were headed. I randomly pulled in near an entrance that was between two different places to work out. The entrance was at the second floor level but you walked into an escalator going down immediately. I don't remember that but I probably entered through a different entrance. The mall used to seem so big but now it just seems so small. What seems to make it so much worse was all the stories that were closed when we walked in and kept closing hours before the mall was supposed to close. We passed a couple stores when we got there that I thought I'll stop and then on the way back out and walking back by them an hour before close and the entire end of the mall was closed up. Every store except the anchor store at the end and a second hand shop on the first floor. On the plus side we did get to go to Hot Topic even though it was such a tiny one and found a few things at Spencer's. I had thought to stop in Kay Jewelers but went to grab a bite to eat first and they were closed when I finished eating. Several of the places in the food court were closed with the most disappointing to me being Billy Goat which is what I had really wanted to try. There were only a couple choices if I didn't want to eat junk food and I randomly chose one. The one I didn't choose was in Nashville hot chicken place that just sounded really good. I was trying to avoid deep fried foods though. I ended up at the Cilantro Taco Grill. I had some of the best tacos I have had in a long time there. I'm glad I stopped. The mall might have been disappointing but it did have just a couple of bright spots in the day. read more

Yorktown was a favorite place of mine to shop way back in my middle school and high school years. I hadn't been back in a long time since I no longer live in the area, but recently stopped by with family over the holidays. It was nice to see the mall is still alive without too many unoccupied stores. The holiday decorations were nice, and there seem to still be a good range of shops. They do seem to be struggling with staffing though like everywhere else. My dad needed a watch battery replaced and no one was around who could do that with no information available regarding when someone might be around. Anyway, it was nice to take a little nostalgic walk through this mall! read more

We specifically went to Yorktown Center for the play area for my son. The mall itself is a basic mall but it has all its anchor stores. The kids play area is on the ground floor near the movie theaters. I liked the play area because it is aimed at smaller children. My son was content to play there for over two hours. It was clean and it targeted actual skills. Since it was a younger crowd there was less rough play which I appreciated. When he had enough of the play area we went to the food court for dinner; standard pizza, Charley's (cheesesteak franchise), seafood, teriyaki options. There was also a Billy Goat Pub option but it was closed. I will definitely return specifically for the play area. read more

Been going to this mall since the 1990's. Vendors are professional. Management is very friendly and security is very great. So much nostalgia. Every time I see the Von Maur with the Christmas tree I feel I am in Upper-state Manhattan in the 1920s. So much tradition and timeless passion invested into the community of Lombard, Illinois. The added touch down memory lane was seeing the Marshall Field gift shop at the basement level. Terrific selection of food court, designer fashion, boutique and great value. Whenever you in the neighborhood visit here you wouldn't believe how amazing this place is and when you compare the value here versus other places this will strike an accord having you return. Cost is generally midrange some times there are deals but it's an investment to your happiness. read more

If you own a dog, this will be your favorite place. They have no restrictions on them, they can freely be at the stores. The playground for kids are very nice, so relaxing to spend time as a family at this place. read more

PET FRIENDLY! Love being able to bring our pup into an indoor mall. It's definitely a step down from Oakbrook's mall but I do really like this place. They have a good amount of stores and good quality. The stores themselves have a sticker/decal on the entrance to indicate if your pet is able to go into that specific store or not. There are more places that accept pets than don't so it doesn't both me much. And of course, they are not allowed in the food court section. It doesn't seem to get as busy so I really go make this my first stop when I got to hit a mall. read more

This is one of my favorite malls in the Chicagoland area. I really wouldn't go to any other malls besides the outlets. At Yorktown they always have pretty decent sales going on. They also have one of the best Food Courts also. If your in the area and need a quick moment to find a last minute gift I recommend you check them out. read more

Ah the mall experience of Sbarros when you thought that was great food as a kid and walking around aimlessly. This place doesn't dissappoint there. Then you can go to UFC gym and take it out in a fight if you are disappoint. Rear naked choke someone unconscious until they're a vegetable on life support, overhand right someone and give them permanent brain damage, or just TEAR off their limb with an armbar or legbar. Much like me, Yorktown's better looking days are distant and small in the rearview mirror. Also like myself, Yorktown gets a lot of shit. In my case it's mostly metaphorical though I do have one irresponsible neighbor who will not clean up after his dogs. In Yorktown's case, it's actual feces as they seem to allow dogs in but don't require owners to clean up after their dogs. So maybe less like me, and more like my front yard. I mean I would require everyone to clean after their dogs, but I don't have the power. Anyway, aside from the fecal problem, the mall has seen better days. This is, of course, a trend in the suburban mall across the continent, my last visit here was during the Pandemic and it just wasn't that hard to imagine the post-viral mall looking like the original "Dawn of the Dead" as the place seems already half dead. When I was young and living in Chicago it was oddly exciting to venture out to the lily-White suburbs for a foreign adventure and this mall was like the area code 708 mothership. It was like visiting the Marrakesh souk, a tourist must-see attraction in what amounted to a foreign country for actual Chicagoans. Today, it's still worth a visit as a tourist to a rapidly disappearing past. The lacuna that was once Carson Pirie Scott is especially melancholy. It's convenient if you need to buy something and you're staying in one of the many nearby hotels. It's still got a better than average food mall and although I'm not sure why, if you need to shop at a Von Maur's and JC Penney's in the same trip, these are the anchors (that are still in business). Cats and those allergic to dogs should avoid. Watch your step! read more

BUT this review is based on what happen on Saturday 4/08/2023 I work a lot to provide for my family as so I was on Saturday I rushed home to pick up my family to tske my Grandson to visit the Easter Bunny we arrived at 7:25 and they shut down an hour earlier then all advertized material stated even a sign right infront of the que said til 8pm mall closes at 9 there were about 12-15 people who were also there doing the same thing. The woman incharge of photo company was very rude saying they were done and told us if we had complaints to file them with the company when asked her name she refused. Then for no reason called security and asked that people be removed. Kids were crying and belueve me she put in such an effort with her attitude that was very unnecessary they could have just done the 12 photos rather than stand there upsetting people they still would have left at the sa.e time but she wasted it being rude and causing a scene that was very unprofessional snd in no way warrented. She just wanted to leave early. read more

Went to Panda Express, they were super rude. Got 2 entree plates & 1 fortune cookie. Went to the Dunkin' Donuts I asked for a caramel craze iced latte at 7:30 PM they told me they had no coffee & then I see someone holding an iced coffee 5 minutes later from there. Went to Dippin Dots & tried to pay with 3 CARDS the guys machine wasn't working! This is why I don't go out anymore. Poor service is everywhere and no one wants to work! Very sad. read more

I only go to Yorktown for two reasons: + When I need to pass some time before meeting someone at Flat Top for dinner. + When I need to pass some time after work before doing something else nearby. I swear, every single time I come here is only for one of those two reasons. Usually the former. Otherwise, I don't go here. Yorktown's anchor stores are decent (Von Maur, JC Penny, and Carson Pirie Scott), the restaurants around the center are fine (Flat Top is great!), and the stores inside aren't terrible (the Forever 21 is one of the best I've seen). However, add that all up with a rather empty mall (where is everyone?) and it's kind of a "meh" experience. On the plus side, Yorktown tries its best to look nice and pretty. Nearly every storefront is occupied and the mall seems pretty shiny & clean. I chalk that up to the immaculately organized stores (seriously, every single store I stepped into was incredibly organized), but on the other hand, no one is here to mess it up! Oh, and the food court is currently being renovated with plans to re-open within the next couple weeks (just in time for the holiday season). However, I can't help wonder if that's kind of a waste of money for this mall.... Oh well. Malls are malls. read more
