We came out to Aurora on September 4th because we hadn't traveled since our big trip out to Yellowstone at the beginning of August. This was just a day trip compared to a full week vacation, but it was still something I had been looking forward to since the idea was first mentioned about a week ago. We ended up spending most of our day here at the Fox Valley Mall. My husband, as well as myself, enjoyed some eats at the food court and being able to visit loads of stores under one roof. There are 2 shopping floors and the bottom floor (labeled FC on the elevator) is the food court, although there is some food on the shopping floors like the 2 different Auntie Anne's storefronts, one on the upper level and one on the lower level. Bathrooms were abundant and clean. The floors were also well kept up without being slippery. If I lived nearby I could see myself being a mall walker here because there is tons of space. read more

I enjoyed Fox Valley Mall a lot. It was spacious and good for walking around. They had a store where you could pet dogs, which stood out as unique from other malls. I knew someone who really enjoyed this. The mall had a family-oriented aura. One of the most pleasant encounters I have had in years was at this mall. The food court had good food options. Checked out this long time mall that's in Aurora. Fox Valley Mall is one of the main places to shop in the city even though others have better prices and quality. It has a lot of the typical mall stores. A lot of these have come and gone. There's still plenty to see but there's not quite a whole lot of things going on, a lot of big space takeovers. Big mall that has had lots of changes. It's been around here since 1975, with several anchors that it began with, and a couple more newer ones. The original anchors were J.C. Penney, Lord & Taylor, Marshall Field's, and Sears. A couple shopping centers opened outside it beginning in the 1980s and brought even more people. There was a lot more competition than there was. Lord & Taylor closed in 1996 and was replaced by Carson's. The mall had gardens and plants until it was purchased by Westfield. In 2002 there was a significant renovation for the first time since it opened. The mall was purchased by Centennial Real Estate in 2015, and the mall went back to being known as Fox Valley. In recent years there have been many changes. The Marshall Field's changed to Macy's in 2006, and the Carson's and Sears closed in 2018. A Round One entertainment is in the former Sears, and there's other large stores that are still hanging on. There's also plenty of smaller local places selling jewelry and other stuff. Going shopping isn't as great as it used to be. It's got a lot vacant places inside rather than the big corporate chain stores. There's still quite a few things but whatever. read more

IT'S A MALL, MALL WORLD Fox Valley in Aurora remains a solid place to shop, eat, and hang out. Malls might be a dying breed these days (honestly, who can afford to BUY sh*t anymore?) but I'm happy to see the improvements they've made to this place. Recent renovations in the last 3-5 years have really made this mall pop, notably the additions of Round 1 (a massive two-story arcade), a family restroom area on the lower level (complete with private nursing spots), and a revamped main atrium. For shopping needs, JC Penny & Macy's are the anchor stores, supplemented by Forever 21, H&M, a big Victoria Secret where an ex-girlfriend of mine used to work at, Hollister, Aeropostale, an FYE electronics store, the obligatory Spencer's, Hot Topic, Bath & Body Works, etc. For dining, the large food court on the lower level has 12 places to pick from, including stalwarts like Sbarro, Panda Express, Subway, Great Steak Co, Mochi Donut, 4x4 Extreme Burgers, Burrito Los Azaderos, #Fries, Cajun Café Grill, Moo's Rolled Ice Cream, and several others. Check out the candy store near the escalators for some unusual sweets. Elsewhere in the mall, there's 2 Auntie Anne's locations, plus a Cinnabon (woo!) and a place selling banana pudding in jars. They're getting a Molly's Cupcakes in the near future, too. A new addition near the food court is a cotton candy machine straight outta Harajuku that makes complex flower designs before your very eyes ($7 for a regular, $10 for a deluxe). Tapville Social is a self-serve kiosk where you can tap your own beer/wine/seltzer and take it with you as you saunter around the mall. Just don't get too drunk and leave your pint glass in the changing room at Macy's (I have to imagine staff are retrieving glassware from every nook & cranny all year-long). The focal point of the mall is undoubtedly the large double-decker carousel, located on the lower level. It's $7 per ride and there's a variety of horses, mermaids, dragons and other animalia to sit on, plus seashells that gently rock back-and-forth. They have teacups, but their "spinning" function has sadly been disabled, likely due to overzealous teens. On the first floor, the wide open faux-grassy area has wonderful natural light plus a fake tree with walkable canopy. This gathering space is host to small events, and when we visited on a weekend in mid-August there was a woman playing (using?) singing bowls which made for some relaxing vibes. * TL;DR * A decade ago, Fox Valley would probably earn 3* from me, but thanks to some tasteful 21st century remodeling I'm happy to give them a higher rating. I'd consider Aurora's Fox Valley Mall and Lombard's Yorktown Mall as equals, maybe a half-step down from Woodfield (Schaumburg) in terms of overall impression. The ritzy Oak Brook Mall is in a league of its own, plus it's all outdoors, so a comparison shouldn't be made there. Nevertheless, I like Fox Valley Mall and what it has to offer. And hey, how 'bout that carousel, huh? Always brings a smile to my face. read more

The only stores I shop here are Victoria's Secret for me and H&M if my daughter is with me. Maaaybe Macy's for picking up perfume or makeup. Out of an entire mall of stores, that's it. Most of the stores have atrocious clothing. I haven't eaten food in the food court in a decade. The ceiling is really low and it feels like I'm walking down into a cave. They've remodeled almost the entire mall. Except for the food court. -It needs a complete overhaul. They have 2 Auntie Anne's, which is kinda funny considering the mall isn't that big. No complaints though. I'm not above eating a pretzel. I walk 5 miles every day and when the weather is bad, I come here. During the winter, I'm here at some point almost every day. There's a lot of moms with strollers. A lot of toddlers. The remodeling they did was a good improvement. There are wide open spaces that would be perfect for a small person to run and play. I sometimes wonder how they're managing to stay open. Macy's is the only true anchor store in this mall. Do people still shop at JC Penney? BUYER BEWARE of the Pop Mart Kiosk outside of Claire's in Fox Valley Mall. We purchased a La Boo Boo for $30. Opened it up to find it ripped, stuffing falling out. Seems poorly made. The line on smile has dash (line does not go all the way across). Seems he has real examples on display, but item in box is fake. It is missing the ultraviolet stamp. See pics. Plenty of parking! Lots of variety of stores (including a comedy place and Round 1). I particularly love their pet store called Furry Babies because they have so many cute dogs in there to see. It's unique cause I don't find many stores like that. It does smell in there but that is the cost of getting to see live puppies! Round 1 has fun photo booths (you do have to purchase a ticket with them to use it though). I would def come back to this mall with the selection of stores and entertainment! read more

I'm not gonna lie - I'm one of those people with a baby and a stroller doing the mall walk ;0 I come here about 1-2 times a week, I thought my mall days were over, but apparently I'm back. I love this location, love the vibe and love the size. There are multiple parking lots, it doesn't ever seem to get too crowded and there are wonderful stores, arcades, food, AND a ton of kid stuff to choose from. I'm going to speak mainly on the kid stuff - they have multiple things for multiple ages. Near the JC Penney entrance, there is a free, enclosed climbing area for younger kids with a few climbing logs and small slides (probably for ages 1-5). Next to it, there's a jumping/trampoline thing for older kids - I haven't done this but you do have to pay. If you go further into the mall, there's a huge, fake tree that doubles as a stair case and then some fake grass where you can sit at tables and kids run around. This is super random but once a month they've been doing free concerts for kids with 'Miss Jamie,' also at this tree. 10 years ago I nevver would have been excited writing that LOL. I come here to walk around, get some coffee and have my daughter do some of this stuff. The staff are friendly, the mall is free, ample parking and most of the general public are kind. Overall a fan of this mall for have a very wide variety of shops between upscale-ish, practical, trendy, and fun experiences. Fortunately, this mall is large enough to have enough options to satisfy a group of visitors. With that said, this is also a somewhat confusing mall with more modern spots seamlessly blending into walls, floors, tiles, that seem a bit outdated. So, while there's beautiful common areas -- the experience can be somewhat ruined by walking into areas that look like they haven't seem an update in decades. The food court has one of the most eclectic selections of different cuisines I've seen from a fries specialist to rolled ice cream. While this mall doesn't have interesting upscale options that you'd find in Oakbrook or Woodfield, it still has some specialty options sprinkled throughout the mall - and a Gloria Jean's coffee. While the anchor stores aren't really a draw for me now, I do like the selection of fun experiences available like Round 1 and Mish Mash. I would love to see more interesting entertainment options here as over time, I'd expect that and special events (like holiday decorations) to be a bigger draw for a visit than any particular store. Overall, interesting mall that helps to satisfy a wide variety of interests. read more

This mall is trying gamely to stay relevant with new art (see the new mural outside and low poly fox sculptures by the fountains inside), attempting to keep those storefronts filled (hard when the department stores go out of business), and keeping the place in decent shape. There's a security presence, and the maintenance folks were tidying the entire time we were eating in the food court. Lots of services here like nails, threading, shoe repair, etc. Just wish there was more shopping. read more

Fox valley mall has probably more interactive, more leisure, and more ways of entertaining shoppers than any other shopping mall I've seen in a long time. This is an especially great location to bring teenagers and young children as there are many ways of entertaining them from arcades, breakout rooms, and other entertaining mall features. This is the way shopping malls used to be, a destination, not just a place to spend money. Most shopping malls have done away with gardens, fountains, relaxing seating area. Most of them just want you to spend money and when your feet get tired, leave. That makes this place extremely enjoyable for the older individuals and people with disabilities who can enjoy the artistry and scenery that changes from one point to the mall to another. My family and I came through a JCPENNEYS entrance as it was closer to the store we needed to go to. The store was quite empty, and we overheard a store associate telling another customer, all other stores were closed due to threats in the build, and that they would soon reopen. The only stores that were open were the stores with an exit to the outside. What a terrible way to handle such a serious situation, not a single officer in sight, and we were just let into a building that wasn't deemed safe to enter. I actually did not like Fox valley am more oak Brook lady. I was surprised that they remodeled and Open more stores. Stratford square mall 80% of the stores are Closed down. I am glad they even fixing the parking lot. The economy needs more indoor malls for all group ages to come And walk, eat mingle shop or just hang out. I loved the merry go round and the puppy store. I want to preface that Stratford was my preferred mall all the time I don't like overcrowded malls that are almost impossible to park at sadly Stratford is due to close in two weeks and has no stores left. Unfortunately, I had to go here today and boy do I regret it, first of all it was pouring rain out when I got here you had lines of cars with nowhere to park and WAITING because they're building apartment buildings all around the place so over 50% of the parking is gone that used to be there and it was already hard to park there before that so imagine what it's like now?!? I literally went to get the items at the store I had to go to and I will never come back here. This is why I preferred Stratford over any other mall. read more

This mall has all my favorite teenage girl stores: Spencer's, Torrid & Hot Topic, book store, Forever 21, Charming Charlie's, Claire's, Hello Kitty, etc. There is always some nonsense cr@p to buy. Also, it is inside and has free wi-fi. And it has Sbarro . I will give Fox Valley a shout-out for hosting lots of fun Princess Parties and other photo opps in the main hall. Yikes. Considering the location I expected better. The mall was packed but most of the stores weren't known chains, and they were mostly selling tacky clothing or knockoff nerdy stuff. Strange food options, like a shop that only sells pudding?? I didn't see people buying much, just wandering around. Nearly everyone had small kids running around and screaming. The Food Court felt like a free-for-all. Saw a bunch of teens vaping. I only saw TWO sets of bathrooms in the entire place, which feels crazy. read more

First time coming back to this mall during the post apocalyptic Covid-19 pandemic. As impressed as I was the last time I was here. This mall still never fails to impress. This mall is still alive and well. It's also doing some very innovative things I've never seen a mall do such as installing a comedy club. Security here is top notch! I saw them first hand take down a guy that tried shoplifting at a store and apprehend them. Great work Security! The best part about this mall is the variety of stores, the layout, the lighting as well and the malls implementation of newer things to draw in customers in an era where malls are dying. I have been shopping at FV mall for as long as I have lived in the area-- nearly 20 years. While it has gone through changes, I still enjoy shopping there. The current management has its customers in mind. I am looking forward to seeing what the mall is going to do with the old Sears and Carsons spaces. I am sure it will be exciting. I always go here if I wanna just shop and walk, I love the food court but I wish there were some more shops that were more mainstream. I've been going to this mall pretty much all my life, but it's changed a lot over the years. Teenage Jacqueline probably would have given this place 5 stars for being my favorite hangout and having all the coolest stores, but 30-year old mom Jacqueline thinks Fox Valley is just 3-star worthy these days. I will say that it is pretty awesome having an indoor mall less than 5 minutes from my house. If at all possible I try to visit during the week if I have some shopping to do, otherwise the weekends at Fox Valley mall are a zoo. SO many people come here to just "hang out" on Friday nights and Saturdays -- and I'm not talking just teenagers. Like full blown families with all of their children just running around. It's a mad house if you're trying to leisurely shop or run an errand. My favorite stores here these days are Macy's, Francesca's, and Dry Goods. I feel like I'm in that weird in-between age where I'm no longer shopping at Forever 21, but also don't want to shop at old lady stores either. Makes things difficult. Most recently, I was here shopping for my 7 month old son and was surprised to find that there really aren't many options for children's clothing! The Children's Place was really the best option, but the store is pretty hard to shop. It's small and all the racks are close together which made bringing a stroller in difficult. I did find some pajamas for him on sale and a super cute outfit for him for our family pictures though which was great. I also realized they recently updated the H&M and it looks really nice! Although they no longer seem to offer children's clothes either which is a bummer. The food court at Fox Valley has some pretty good options, but truthfully I usually stick to Panera. Cinnabon and Aunt Annie's gets me every time too. They now have a Bowlero inside the mall which is pretty weird, but if you're looking for bowling and entertainment, have at it! I'm more of an Amazon shopping kind of gal these days or I find myself at the downtown Naperville shops, but this will continue to be a convenient mall option for us especially when the weather is bad. read more

I am optimistic for this mall. I think they are playing the long game for keeping this place relevant in a time when physical retail is done. There are tons of store front spaces being cleverly repurposed as kids play areas and wifi lounges. The kinds of spaces I want to be during northern Illinois fall, winter's, and spring. read more

Keep in mind there was only one of us with a cell phone and everyone else were children. They forced us to split up and had no regard to our safety or security. 2nd saddest mall I have ever been to. Walking around is ok, many different stores to browse. But it needs to be a bit nicer. Floors are old, discolored and warped. Eating area looks like a dungeon. My husband can touch the ceiling it's so low in the eating areas. I've seen nice malls so maybe my expectations were high but overall, meh. Updates are being made outside the mall for apparent luxury apartments directly outside the mall but why luxury when you're mall is less than mediocre. Just sayin'! read more

Same mall - new/old name? Westfield apparently sold this mall and now there are signs everywhere saying it is Fox Valley Mall. I've always called it Fox Valley Mall so I guess it doesn't really matter much to me. Otherwise the shops are the same, kid play area is the same... just new signage. I checked out the website and looks like they have an events calendar (currently empty) so I look forward to what new things they will do! read more

Fox Valley Mall is a staple in our local community. In Chicagoland there are no shortage of retail options but this mall is always a reliable source for the latest in fashion! Today my sorority sisters and I were happy to have a dry place for our annual "Walk To Remember" on the Longest Day (#EndALZ) of the year. We usually walk on a local trail but due to rain we were forced to seek a last-minute venue to accommodate our activity. Of course when you are at the mall you can't help a little window shopping along with your fitness & fun! We knocked out our steps, met a few business owners and grabbed a few gifts for our upcoming conference. The mall is well maintained and offers clean restrooms for patrons. I was also impressed with the safety patrol that was visible throughout our visit. If you are in the area make Fox Valley a part of your itinerary! read more

Mall walkers headquarters... About all it is good for Not a lot of good shopping, but popular with mall walkers. All the kiddie rides are in operational, they take your money and don't work. Mall security is good and can help find phone numbers of vending companies to call for machine service and initiate refund. I took my daughter there to ride the Merry go round for $3 a ride, but the attendant was not there at the advertised 10 am opening. I will write a review for the company that owns/operates the ride called "Indoor Entertainment" ( based out of Laguna Beach) , as I called them to see what time someone may be there and ask for a refund since nobody was there to operate. Got an answering machine and no call back. Called Mall Management who called security to see what was going on. Finally at 10:20 got my kid on the ride. It was my first time going to this mall and I was very impressed. From the outside, it didn't look much and looked outdated, but stepping foot inside, it was huge! I always went to Woodfield Mall since it's closer to me but I would compare these two together. They had lots of similar stores that Woodfield has. They had lots of shopping selections and a huge bowling/arcade place, pretty fun! I liked the store selection, lots of stores for me at least and lots of choices for food/drinks! I really didn't expect a lot of people and a lot of stores, I could definitely see myself coming back here if I'm around. read more

This mall is like a suburban heaven/hell, which doubles as part nightmare and part comedy of errors. It has all of the goofy stuff as any conventional mall, and the common denominator is that every employee would rather be somewhere else while every customer is kind of forced to go here. Talk about a symbiotic relationship based on pure dumpery. Yes, I just invented the word "dumpery" while writing a review. I came to these conclusions while I was employed at this mall 16 years go (my assessment of this mall still holds true to this day...in fact, it's probably much worse), and it was the best-worst time of my life. It was like going to a really bad camp, and then fondly reflecting on how awful it was. Does that even make sense? The only redeeming quality of this place was all the people watching. As an employee, it's totally fun to watch customers fumble and bumble around. As a shopper, it's totally fun to watch the employees fumble and bumble around. It's incredible...I love it. One of the greatest moments of my life was watching the Abercrombie employees get into a fight with the Hot Topic employees. I sat there in complete awe, with pretzel and lemonade in hand, as two very distinct groups of people decided to confront each other. It was Team Furry Pink Pants vs. Team Cargo Pants. Both sides made amazing arguments during said altercation, and to this day I am still on the fence as to who won. I wonder what happened to those people. I am in the middle of predicament right now. Do I give this place 5 stars, because I am so ridiculously amused by it? OR Do I give this place 1 star, because of how much of a disaster it is?
