Being in a beautiful home away from the city is what I needed (and the great sleep I had showed that)! We just spent a perfect 2 days at the Yosemite Rose Bed and Breakfast.. We rented the caretakers cabin, and it was so cozy and comfortable. The place is super dog friendly, they even have a ranch dog on site to welcome your puppy. The main house is the bed and breakfast, and is decorated expertly to invite all who enter a charming and warm welcome. And while the trip into Yosemite National Park, with our reservation and $20 was a complete and total disaster, the time we spent in Groveland more than made up for it. The caretakers cabin does not offer the breakfast part of bed and breakfast, but we were still treated to home made cheese cake prepared by our hosts and it was just ever so tasty. While we were enjoying a lovely cross breeze threw the cottage, a guest puppy found us and invited himself in for a bit of a quick sniff before his mom found him with his new friend Bernie(that's our dog). Our stay was just wonderful. Just a thought, the upstairs bedroom with its queen and 2 twin beds (all done in very comfortable and warm décor) does have steep steps on the outside of the house, not a problem for us, but could be an issue for anyone who is mobility challenged. We were also entertain by the abundance of non-human entertainers, there were horses, a pig, and some turkeys tending to there newly hatched babies. The morning song birds announcing the day were music to my ears, and the abundance of bees and butterflies gave me hope for our planet that all is not lost. after the past year and the pandemic, this little gem did the trick at changing my perspective back to a place of hope and goodwill. My son and I were desperate to find a place near Yosemite where we could reasonably reach the entrance before the 5AM cutoff for those without park reservations. Yosemite Rose Bed and Breakfast was perfect. The hospitality started even before we hit the road when I received a phone call from them. They asked when we might be arriving, and when I said between 9 and 10 PM depending on traffic, they said no problem and explained how we'd find instructions directing us to our room when we arrived. Further, they said they saw the note I made when I booked that we'd be leaving early in the morning, so they would pack our breakfast in a bag with our name on it and leave it in the refrigerator. Everything was exactly as they said it would be. We arrived at 9:30 and followed the instructions to our room without having to disturb anyone. The room was very comfortable with its own bathroom, outlets for charging, and good wi-fi. In the morning we had no trouble finding the bag with ample breakfast and lunch items and left without disturbing anyone. That evening the power went out in Groveland, but the staff had a backup power source kick in within the hour, and wi-fi never even went down. The shower felt so good after a long day of hiking. The next morning was similar to the first morning except we left our key in the room signifying our checkout (no need to wait in a hotel lobby line to close anything out). We loved our stay but lamented that we hadn't even begun to scratch the surface of all of the amenities, including a great breakfast if you stick around in the morning, coffee and tea and brandy available anytime, chess, pool, and piano options, great books and reading nooks, and a moving tribute to family devoted to each other and our wonderful country. I can't thank the proprietors enough for a weekend that my son and I will never forget. Someday I hope to return. read more

By far thee BEST B&B/hotel stay experience i've had EVER!! :) I felt at home in this cute 19th century style home. The ambiance is welcoming and host family is informative and pleasant. We stayed in the Brenda room during the Labor Day weekend. We throughly enjoyed our breakfast here- every morning the house chef creates beautifully presented and delicious home recipes. My husband loved the quish so much that we requested the recipe (although I doubt being able to recreate it). You get to enjoy classical music during breakfast and during the mid-afternoon tea or wine with home baked pastries (we were out hiking so didn't get to try their fab baking). The horses and doggies in the property are charming. You can book rides with the horse; they have a entertainment room with a pool table, chess, a library room and a piano room. Truly a great experience. Will def be coming back whenever in Yosemite. read more

Weird... Creepy... can't decide which adjective is better. But it definitely wasn't "cute" or "the best"! Keep on reading, I have helpful details... My husband, my in-laws and myself stayed at the separate cottage to the left. We saw it from the outside and we said: "is this the same place?" The photos on here and on the website are inaccurate - the place needs a whole lot of grooming from the outside. Once you go in, the place has a weird "old closet" smell and everything looks old... I understand this is supposed to have a 19th century feel to it, but all I felt were goosebumps from the creepiness, and in THIS century, we use cleaners to make the place smell good. Also, what's the point of having a photo of an owl and a collection of scary DVDs and Videotapes? Oh yeah, very welcoming! It gets worse as you go to the upstairs sleeping area with all the spider webs on the steps- the AC is not working, so you immediately feel like you're in a sauna. Also, why is there a photo of a dead grandpa military guy, and another photo with kids in clown faces? CREEPY! Nobody cares to see photos of people we do not know - dead or alive! With this said, this room was left untouched and we all decided to sleep downstairs. We pulled out the sofa bed, which had the oldest and dirtiest fitted sheet... so we went back upstairs to pull out a sheet and some blankets from the other beds. We start winding down and my husband decides to watch a movie - there is no cable and the DVD player isn't set up. So my husband patiently sets it up but by the time he's done, it has gotten late that we don't even get halfway. Time for bed! The next morning we find out that breakfast is $17 pp! We've stayed at other B&B where breakfast is included - nonsense! So we drive into town to find a delicious and inexpensive breakfast spot (Iron Door Grill - check out my review). Oh and by the way, Yosemite National Park is FORTY-FIVE minutes away, how is that even close? And my father-in-law drove fast too! Such inaccuracies! Therefore, since we feel like our visit was not worth our money, we didn't stay the extra night (2+ nights required to book) and since we're surely not getting our money back since you have NO cell phone reception to call anyone, might as well write this review to help others from wasting their money. I love this beautiful home. It is full of antiques and very comfortable. We stayed in the Cynthia Room, which is right above the parlor, both times we stayed here. There is no television, they do have WiFi, so you can use your phone for the internet. No Cell service in the area, but hey we are on vacation, time to wind down from all of that. We walked on the property to see the horses and cows, there is another route to the canyon rim where you can view half dome in the distance. Obviously Marilyn H. does not appreciate antiques or old photos, what an insult to the owners and their family. She probably thinks her ancestors are creepy too! I think most people like looking at old photos and using their imagination to think about what life was like back in the day. I found the house charming and from my understanding people usually rent the cottage to use the kitchen and cook for themselves, and to have more privacy. We arrived right at check in time, and were able to view most of the rooms that were not inhabited at the time, they were all darling. The breakfasts came with the rooms in the house. We enjoyed talking to the people who were visiting at the same time as were. We came to visit in the summer the first time then decided it would be fun to come in October to see the leaves change, and hike in the park. We did get to see the cottage during the summer trip and it was very nice. I would highly recommend staying here, the food was excellent at breakfast, and they are looking into serving a dinner menu as well. read more

This was our first B&B and I must say, the bar has been set pretty high. Not only was the house charming and clean, but the hospitality was exceptional and breakfast was scrumptious. The individual bathroom in our room was also a big win because the thought of sharing one with other guests was off-putting. We had a great stay here over the New Year holiday. Yosemite is a wonderful place to go in the winter if you can stand the cold. :) The place was pretty quiet as several other guests had canceled due to some potentially poor weather concerns. This is the perfect B&B for a couple. I am very picky especially in terms of cleanliness, and this B&B was spotless. Beyond that the staff was above and beyond friendly and super welcoming. This place is/was simply charming. My boyfriend did very well picking this romantic Yosemite getaway! Breakfast was wonderfully cooked and prepared, and equine adventure tour was amazing! The sights of the mountains coupled with the fresh crisp air and the uber friendly tour guide added to our wonderful weekend. This place is a lady's B&B dream come true! what a beautiful, relaxing place to stay - we rented The Cottage and we loved every minute of our stay - the grounds were so beautiful, we didn't even bother driving into Yosemite on our last day and decided to just roam the grounds - beautiful, serene meadows full of wildflowers, and did I mention peace and quiet?! Katherine was an absolute joy - such hospitality is rare indeed. We are already thinking of going back. There was no cell signal here which was an absolute JOY - sometimes you need to get away from all of that and just be real with the people you came with. read more

We've stayed at Yosemite Rose twice now and it is an amazing property with really nice owners! We stay in the cottage which I think can sleep up to 6 if you include the upstairs which we have never been in because there is just the two of us. The cottage has a full kitchen, living room, and bathroom which is perfect for us! We like to bring most of our own food and prep our sandwiches and snacks fro the day and make dinner back at the B&B. The location is maybe 20 mins from the entrance but there is another 20 or so minutes from the entrance of the park until you reach the visitor center/Yosemite Village. It is also 15 mins from the town of Groveland which has restaurants and a grocery store. The main house is BEAUTIFUL! It is so cute and vintage with a pool table and a self-playing piano. The food is also delicious. They make their own brioche, YUM and both stays we've had a sausage quiche with hollandaise. Disclaimer breakfast is not included with the cottage though. We will be back again next year as it is going to become a tradition! One last thing, agreed that wifi is spotty at best but you should be coming here for the outdoors and not for your phone/computer. :) read more

We visited Yosemite Rose this past weekend to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary and were joined by my cousin Regina was on her Honeymoon with her new Husband Tim and his daughter. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the cooked to order breakfast that took into account our dietary restrictions. Katherine and Don were as gracious as always and we were served breakfast by their charming grand daughter Katie. So once again I have to say we enjoyed our stay. Unfortunately their Chow Tuffy past away recent so he was not there to greet us but their cat was. We really enjoyed the Katherine room with the whirlpool tub which provided welcome relief after a day of hiking in Yosemite. read more

We spent one night here on our way to Yosemite. Scelestia had upgraded our reservation to a larger room on the first floor. The room was adjacent to the screened porch where we relaxed before going to dinner. We happened to be the only guests on Monday night, so we had the entire house to ourselves. The rooms are all lovely and breakfast superb. Gary prepared French toast with blueberry compote and chicken apple sausage. It was a wonderful experience staying here, and we will definitely stay here again. read more

My hubby and I wanted to visit Yosemite and stay in a B & B close by. Yosemite Rose fit the bill. As soon as we came in, we were welcomed by the housekeeper. I really appreciated the offer of bringing our bags up before, paying. After a 4 hour drive, we really appreciated it. We were given a tour and met another host, he was friendly and welcomed us immediately. The Cynthia Room, was exactly like the picture. My hubby and I loved the pillows! There are 2 restaurants that were about 7 miles away. The grill and two guys pizza are worth the drive. When my hubby and I came back , our bed was turned down. It was such a nice gesture. The host, hostess and young daughter, were obliging with additional requests, more towels, ice and hot chocolate in the morning. I can't forget to mention the breakfast. yummy yummy in my tummy. It was delicious. The drive to Yosemite was about 25 minutes away. This stay really worked for us. Thanks Yosemite Rose! read more

Unfortunately I cant agree with the others who reviewed this place and gave it 5 stars. We rented the guest ranch house and while it was quaint - it didnt have a working tv, some of the a/c didnt work and the owner didnt return an email I sent regarding a discrepancy in pricing. In addition, we came late at night and it was almost impossible to find. If there is no cell service nearby, you need to do a better job on signage so your guests know where they are going. read more

My one complaint is with the very limited satellite Internet connection - don't plan on streaming videos while you're here (but that's not why you're going to Yosemite, right?) Stayed here this past summer for a couple of nights. Beautiful house and comfortable rooms. Innkeepers were very helpful with food suggestions and sights/trail recommendations in Yosemite. The breakfasts were excellent. I've stayed at many B&Bs and the breakfasts served here were one of the best I've ever had. Food was made with fresh ingredients and they had a varying menu from day to day. The only "heads up" I would give for other travelers is about connectivity and wifi at the house. It gets pretty jammed up and busy at night when all the guests are trying to use it. There's no cellular connectivity on your phones for the most part when you are in Yosemite and surrounding areas. So be prepared. I had a hard time downloading a Kindle book one evening but was able to do so early next morning. Overall, this is a great place to stay and I would recommend it to any traveler. read more

We quite enjoyed staying here. The family that runs this bed and breakfast is very, very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. Facilities are very clean, quiet and comfortable. It's close to the entrance of Yosemite. Price is right. The breakfast that they offer is delicious and portioned perfectly. The only reason they get four stars is because there's no cell phone signal. Which, I know is not their fault, but it was an inconvenience of a sort, unless you'e trying to get away from your cell phone, then please consider this a five star rating. We very recently stayed at the Yosemite Rose. Our experience was nothing short of delightful. We arrived early and were graciously greeted by both innkeepers, Donald and Katherine. The B&B was clean and well appointed and our room was the same. Our favorite aspects of the B&B were: 1) Very very quiet and relaxing atmosphere, 3) wonderful innkeepers always available and ready with recommendations, 4) the breakfast was amazing. Stayed here for two nights while enjoying Yosemite and we absolutely loved it! We plan on visiting again just to spend time at this B&B. The food was fantastic and the room was warm, comfy, and well-decorated. The main floor is open for your use, which includes a well-stocked library, music room with piano, and pool/game room. Two years ago in March my wife and I stayed in at the Yosemite Rose and were very pleased with the accommodations. We stayed there for our honeymoon while we were married in Yosemite. This place is clean, quiet, relaxing, and stock full of amenities. I personally enjoyed the pool table and the family history with wich they have decorated their place. My wife was taken by the victorian ranch style house. I have to also say, that the owners were very friendly and very attentive to our needs and went out of their way to make sure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. We strongly recommend this place for anyone on a stop over to Yosemite. It's much cheaper than staying at the Ahwahnee and the experience much, much more rewarding. read more

We enjoyed every minute of our stay here! Celestia and staff were so accommodating. Freddy and Matilda (their dogs) greeted us as friendly bookends to the front entrance. We had the pleasure of staying in the Katherine Room with comfortable bedding, great natural light, and a large jacuzzi tub! They went above and beyond for breakfast service. The young girl serving us was professional and adorable! And kudos to the chef who cooked delicious crepes and hashbrowns! At night, we enjoyed some guitar playing and light reading in the piano room with a lovely glass of complimentary port. We ventured out to the back patio for a view of stargazing that we don't see on such a clear and vast level at home. We are from New Orleans and this was our first visit to the Yosemite area. We stayed here for 3 days to visit Yosemite National Park. It was a reasonable driving distance (between 20-30 mins). The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The whole family got involved in making sure we were well cared for. We were in the "Brenda" room and it was beautifully decorated. The bed was pretty comfortable. The room had a nice private bath. The weather cooperated so we were served breakfast on the back screened porch. Lovely setting. All breakfasts were very good but the blue berry French toast was awesome! Gary's quiche was also very good (We had a different cook each day we were there.) The only drawback to the B&B was very bad wireless connection. (The whole area lacks cell phone service so be aware of that.) But new services are becoming available and they are already scheduled for installation so I give them credit for that and give them 5 stars. read more

Our family of 12 people stayed at the farm house. I would like to start with saying this house was not safe for our family and that in itself is a huge issue. Let's start with no smoke detectors, no carbon monoxide detector and no fire extinguishers; I believe there are laws in the state of California that require these items. The night everyone was there we had a BBQ and, to our family's surprise, when starting the grill there were flames coming out of the back of the BBQ which could have caught the house on fire do to the dis-repair of this house. My husband had to remove the food and totally take this BBQ apart and clean it or it would have started something on fire. The foundation of the house is held up by cinder blocks you can see this from the back patio because the siding has been eaten away. Not to mention the 3 balconies are not safe the wood is aged and my guess is that someone will go out on them and you will have an accident. These are the biggest concerns as these are major safety issues. The photos on your website by no means show the condition of this house and should be updated to reflect the actual condition so people have a clear understanding of what you are really renting. When we arrived you were not ready for us, all of the beds were not made, no kitchen or bath towels, paper towels, toilet paper, never had dishwasher soap, etc. It was 80 degrees and you had not placed the air conditioners in the rooms but did upon our arrival, interesting installation as the boards to close the rest of the windows were not large enough and we had major bugs joining us for dinner (photo attached on what my husband did to try and keep the bugs out). When renting a location everything should be ready upon arrival and with that said we did not even arrive until 5 pm when you advertise check in at 3 pm. The kitchen is an absolute disgrace; I went out and purchased 2 frying pans since the pans provided had the non-stick coating peeling off which is hazardous for people to ingest. The kitchen cabinet doors were falling off and inside all of the doors it was filthy and disgusting. We took some dishes out of the cabinets only to find baked on oatmeal and dirty dishes. I did review Yelp and you had 4 stars now I know this is because of your B&B house certainly not the Ranch house. If we could give it 0 stars we would..... read more

We stayed 2 nights in Mary room. Cute & clean. Worth the price for many reasons but most importantly it's only 30 mins to Yosemite entrance. Then 45mins to the valley depending on traffic. Everyone knows that. Love the place! Everywhere is nice & clean. Old style but in good shape & good taste. Great hospitality & yummy breakfast. Pool table, chess, piano, books & oldies vinyl records for you to entertaining yourself at night. A family owned and operated B & B, Yosemite Rose is the perfect distance off the beaten path, and only about 20 minutes to Yosemite National Park gate. The proprietor's, Scelestia and Gary are THE BEST, friendly, accommodating and just all around the perfect hosts. Besides an amazing gourmet breakfast every morning, either in the plush Dining Room (check out the Yosemite Mural on the wall) or outside on the restful screened verandah, weather permitting, there is wine in the afternoon and evening and usually a little sweet treat. The rooms are impeccable, perfectly decorated and there is even turn down service. If you are looking for "peaceful, and invitingl" after a busy day in Yosemite Valley this IS the place, we will never stay anywhere else in the Yosemite, Groveland Area. read more

I have stayed at a number of bed and breakfasts over the years and I have to say that this one was the best so far. The rooms are really immaculate and the entire house is just so beautiful. Katherine was incredibly helpful in suggesting places to eat dinner in Groveland or places to visit in Yosemite and the surrounding areas. The breakfast was fabulous--home grown bacon and scrambled eggs and delicious light and fluffy french toast. There was also a fruit bowl and orange juice, along with the coffee and tea options. My husband and I took a little trek down to meet the Yosemite Rose horses, and rested in the back yard near the rose and wisteria trellis. We also had fun playing my mom a game of billiards and looking over the family's military history in the game room. I would totally recommend this as a fabulous place to stay if you're in the area. Also, the Mexican restaurant downtown was an excellent place to pick up a very reasonable dinner. Great enchiladas! read more

Ahhh... Finally, a B&B within our price range we can refer to all our friends, family, and coworkers!! We LOVED our time, and were only sad that since we spent nearly all daylight into the evening galavanting the Yosemite countryside we didn't enjoy the amenities like we'd thought... We hope to go back soon and spend a little more time relaxing at Yosemite Rose. We did enjoy a nice quiet game of pool and some strolling with Bob Dylan. Stay there, and you'll know what I mean. Although the location doesn't receive solid cell phone coverage, you can take your laptop for internet use. It is definitely a plus to stay at a place that is family run. Our hostess was delightful and down to earth with excellent local restaurant recommendations. Breakfast was healthy and delicious. Makes me hungry to think of it! We enjoyed staying at the Yosemite Rose Ranch House in September. The Ranch House is rustic, nothing fancy, but it's large and priced right. We especially enjoyed the back deck, drinking our coffee in the quiet countryside while watching the animals before we head to Yosemite Park for the day. The Ranch House is a great place especially for a large group with kids, and especially in the warmer months. read more
