we have been planning to stay here for almost a year now. Finally had opportunity to do so. It was a pleasant experience from checking in, using amenities, food options, room service to check out. The rooms are well lit which is usually very rare. The bathrooms are clean and the. Shower head with mobile shower head was very helpful to give bath to our toddler There is plenty of parking but you may have to park a bit farther depending upon time of year and day. The pool was full but we still enjoyed in it as well as splash zone. The jenga, corn in the hole, checkers, chess board, cards, gaming arcade, indoor pool with movies playing on the projector- they have perfect vacation package. The star of the first night was shuttle service to the pizzeria and back. Our kid loved the ride in the golf cart. The star of the second night was telescope pointing to moon, open for all the guests. But highlight definitely is marshmallow roasting and s'mores. Everyone enjoyed it thoroughly. We didn't have an opportunity to eat at embers or Deli but both pizzeria and jackalope offered delicious meals. We will definitely be back during Christmas or winter time. The facility is kept clean. The interiors are majestic and inviting. The paintings/ photos are stunning, almost a mini museum walls all around. Tip-There are showers inside the arcade restrooms which I found next day. Four stars only because we found either one of the elevators to be in maintenance mode throughout the stay. Also, the pool gates were left unlocked risking outsiders using the facility. read more

First time going to Yosemite and not camping, so the hour drive ( 55 minutes to Tunnel View without traffic) was a major negative to me...but got the day trippers a good thing. Stayed in one of the cottages, so a short walk to the Lodge. Beautiful! Heighten ceiling and rafters lobby complete with active fireplace , piano and singer upon our check in. Some restaurants and shops, beautiful artwork of Yosemite, and lots of conference rooms ... Had 2 meals at Jackalopes bar and grill, had fantastic service by Greg ( Wednesday night) and Devon ( Thursday morning), and excellent ancillary service as well. Great location for a wedding. Beautiful pool outside as as one indoors, Several fire pits surround the property as well, with opportunities to roast marshmallows. Well supplied hotel just shop- purchased some books, pins, ornaments, stuffies, etc but they also have lots of other Yosemite merch/ clothes/etc.. Our cottage to queen beds and a lovely fireplace, refrigerator, safe and microwave. Thank you to whomever installed the shower head: finally one I can reach!! ( just over 5 feet high). Also loved the shampoo/ conditioner/ shower gel scents, as I am usually pretty particular to hotel offerings and usually don't like them . Unfortunately, the AC did not work very well. Probably should've called maintenance for repairs, but we were out all day. Would definitely stay here again. read more

We stopped at Tenaya Lodge for dinner after spending the day in Yosemite National Park, and it really hit the spot. There honestly aren't a ton of nicer restaurant options nearby unless you want to drive farther out, so this ended up being a great choice. The ambiance was fantastic, the service was good overall, and the food was solid. I especially recommend the poke bowl -- really enjoyed that. Prices were about what you'd expect for the area and the type of restaurant. Our waiter did forget to come back a couple of times after we asked for Diet Pepsi refills, but aside from that, it was a really pleasant experience. We weren't staying at the lodge itself, just visiting after a Yosemite day trip, and I'd definitely recommend it if you're in the area and looking for a nice place to eat. read more

The hotel is located right by the gate to Yosemite. It's got that quintessential mountain lodge charm, with organic wood elements and tall grand design. My buddy and I came few days post Christmas and they still celebrated in the main lobby with classic Christmas music a pianist and singer. They also had complementary s'mores you can burn up by the fireside right outdoors. It was definitely an experience that warmed our holiday spirits with much joy. The room itself was definitely quite spacious, clean and inviting. I think we had a very lovely and cozy stay at the lodge. It's really a shame that the STAFF EVERYWHERE is the problem. I booked this hotel for the weekend about 2 months in advance to my trip. Everytime I called the hotel was a problem. At first I asked to bring a dog since they advertise dog friendly rooms. I had called and the man on the phone said I had to cancel my reservation and book again a different type of room , on Expedia however it does not say which rooms are dog friendly and he confirmed that. I also asked him how much the doggy daycare was and he said that was a question from the front desk not for him. When I messaged the hotel directly they said they would add a dog to the booking, so why is there such big miscommunication? SECONDLY... as we booked this online months in advance and we have a family member with brain cancer, they were finally able to get their radiation done the week of the trip so we asked to move the dates. Expedia contacted them to which the hotel denied the change , when I contacted them through messages they said we could move it but they kept denying it. Ultimately, said family member couldn't come with us. When we arrived, we arrived around 3am and the man who checked us in was friendly, he would be the only friendly face we see. We went to the Deli while staying here to get coffee and I ordered an iced americano with milk, when I saw a coffee at the bar waiting with no milk and just a gallon of milk to the side I asked the man if it was mine and he ignored me, every coffee experience at this place was bad because of the male barista. Dinner at the jackalopes was completely horrible. CLAUDIA was her name, we had a reservation at 9pm on the patio, we arrived early and were seated but an hour passed and no food in sight. We asked Claudia if we could sit inside since we were freezing and she said that there were no seats and that there was a line out the door of reservations waiting to be seated inside. Which is wrong- they close at 10pm and it was 9:30pm. I got this picture of the inside showing that there were many seats available. She suggested if we were staying at the hotel to go get a jacket. The lady at the spa was also horrible! I was waiting for my cousin to get done with her massage and went to the store to smell the lotions. I opened a bottle to smell it and the front desk lady YELLED for me to not open the bottles , I asked how am I supposed to know what they smell like? There's no sign that says "do not open" and the testers are not in visible eyesight. She runs over saying now she has to throw the bottles away. She then says she has testers by her desk , which she didn't inform us of when we walked in. The testers ARE NOT visible if you are there to smell the products. When I was smelling the testers , she was staring at me and promptly went to rearrange them after I smelled them. The resort is nice but it's not worth the horrible guest customer experience. I would never return here. The beds are uncomfortable and are on platforms as well, none of the food is good, the stores close at 10pm and there's no vending machines for drinks. We currently stayed at the Waybound Cabins at Tenaya Lodge. This review will be based on our experience with Waybound Cabins and not necessarily with the lodge itself as we spent about 90% of our time at the cabin area where we stayed at. Let me start by saying that our experience here was amazing, Deb and her team are outstanding. They definitely set the bar up high when it comes to customer service and making guest feel welcomed. The cabins are very pleasant, cozy and clean. The location is great, you're in the middle of nature enjoying a pleasant, relaxed vacation. The clubhouse at Waybound Cabins recently opened, you can enjoy a nice meal (dinner atmosphere is amazing). We tried multiple dishes here and have nothing but high recommendations for the food at the clubhouse. The clubhouse also has a pool which our kids loved, it was a pleasant to have a swimming pool in our area and not have to travel to the lodge to use the swimming pool. They offer a shuttle service (onsite golfcarts) to take you from the cabins to the main lodge if you desire. It's a quick 3-5 min ride. They have multiple seating areas around the clubhouse, pool, and cabin areas to enjoy some family time. They also offer free smore items for you to use and make your own smores around one of the multiple campfires. The main lodge offers multiple activities and restaurants. Some of the activities are free and some have an additional cost. The pizzeria near the cottages is ok, if you have kids its worth a try. I would recommend anyone to give this place a try. read more

This is a very nice and clean hotel. The entire staff is really friendly and accommodating. We had a concern with a fear my wife had and they immediately made changes for us. They have an indoor and outdoor pool as well as an indoor and outdoor spa. The restaurant is good, but if you are on the go, they have a small deli with premade sandwiches and other snacks and drinks. They also serve Starbucks drinks. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Right next to the hotel, there is an easy and scenic hiking trail that takes you to a small waterfall. It's a beautiful trail, Big Sandy Road Trail. There is no doubt we will stay here again. read more

After three nights of camping in Yosemite, we were looking forward to a little hotel luxury. It was definitely nice to have a bed, walls, and convenient restaurants to serve dinner. We did not have to cook our dinner over a campfire. So that was a plus. The food at Jackalope was pretty good. We ate there two nights. And in many instances, the people working there were absolutely lovely, helpful, and professional. One night there was a wait for dinner, and the woman at the front desk delivered an armful of games for us to play in the lobby while we waited. The place is a maze, and staff were very helpful the many times I lost my way. However, the quality of service was inconsistent and we found so many little frustrations throughout our time there that I don't think we will be coming back. For example: we did the climbing wall, which was fine. But nobody was cleaning out the helmets that kept being used by multiple kids. In one of the handouts, we read that there was Pickleball, but when we went to do Pickleball, there was no Pickleball. I went down to the spa and was excited to read about yoga classes, but then learned that there were no yoga classes. Beds were comfortable enough, but the hotel was kind of loud, with kids running up and down the hallway. That said, this is a decent enough place if you're looking for a hotel near Yosemite, there aren't that many to choose from. read more

Such a nice place and we really wanted to love it, but at our age sleep is so precious, and a comfortable bed is a must in a resort of this caliber. You are quite secluded and without a car you can't get around besides the resort. Just something to keep in mind. The bed is awful. If you are staying in room 310 on the West Wing, don't be surprised that the bed is sinking on both sides and like a rigid mountain in the middle. That being said here are the good things: The staff is very nice and it's nice having four restaurants to choose from. We appreciated several different hot tub opportunities, and a good gym steam room and sauna included. The pizza place has the best food and Jacklope's as well. 15 minutes from the Yosemite South entrance. it's definitely a family friend resort with s'mores included and board games in the lobby as well as a game room, which is great for kids. read more

We came in from Oakhurst to enjoy some drinks and appetizers at the Jackalopes bar... was great! Then sat by the patio at the fire just outside the bar. The service was great too! While we haven't stayed here we've heard only wonder things about it! We came into the lobby, this place was bustling with lots of people, families with kids and a pianist was playing beautiful music! The place is amazing! They have a couple of fantastic gift shops, a little grocery nook as well as a very upscale restaurant... Snow everywhere and lots of self parking available but it was packed and we got lucky with a great spot! Maybe we will get a chance to stay here some day :o) read more

The room was clean, view left something to be desired - roof top of all the dishes for the cable, The bed is like a futon, yet nicer. Wow pure beauty every where I looked! A beautiful hotel nestled in majestic nature & beauty. I stayed 2 nights. Such a lovely place when I walked in, there was guitarist at the entrance playing beautiful it made the place seem so soothing even at the busy check-in! The staff at registration made us feel like very valued customers. We had the morning buffet, they had such a nice variety, I don't see how they could make it better! Everything was flawless at this lodge, in my opinion. They had an any time smores bar with all you needed to make smores on the open fire pit, which was so fun for our tour group! The air was crisp my lungs were enjoying the fresh air! I will be back! I loved Yosemite so close by, absolutely perfect every thing in that whole area I can't wait to get back there & take my Son one day! That was a very enchanting tour. The Tenaya Lodge is probably the best place I have ever stayed. The Valettes and Bell hops were very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was amazing. They made our room clean and inviting everyone day. I loved the elegant yet quietly comfortable vibe Unfortunately I cant give a five star review. I had a question for concierge. She was on the phone on what sounded like a personal call. As I approached the desk she turned her back on me and never acknowledged me after 2 min I left. Also, the host staff at Jackalope were rude refusing to seat us in spots we were we interested in. The food and the wait staff were on point!! read more

Just ok. Not what I would consider a AAA 4 diamond property as advertised. Not all amenities and restaurants available during stay. We moved from a pet allowed cottage to a cabin. Cottage isn't a free standing individual stay as implied. They are buildings with several rooms within similar to a motel. The courtyard was unkempt and littered with old items and broken fencing. After moving to a cabin we experienced an ant problem. They came and sprayed but the issue persisted. All staff encountered were friendly and tried to be accommodating. read more

Pros: Stayed for 3 nights. Very clean cabin. Enjoyed the amenities. My youngest enjoyed doing the glass blowing and the movie in the pool. We enjoyed our dinner at Embers. Service was fantastic and food was delicious. Con: The clubhouse is currently closed for renovations. Typically guests staying in cabins are offered a complimentary breakfast at the clubhouse. With it being closed they offer each guest a free breakfast option up at the lodge at their Grab and Go Deli. First day we went up as family and got our food no problem. The next day, my husband and youngest went and grabbed theirs and went for a hike. My oldest and I went up a bit later. We were informed we could not get it. They informed us we had to be all together and being my husband and daughter had already been we could not receive ours. Spoke to two different people. Front desk said yes of course you can and deli was saying no. Asked to speak to a manager and told her we were never informed that we had to be all together when we checked in. She said well it's "difficult" to keep track of 900 guests and said going forward they would inform guests but we could not get the breakfast. She did offer a shuttle back to the cabin though lol. Which we proudly decline because it was basically a slap in the face. Figure out a better system, you are running a resort. Maybe give each registered guest a voucher at check in. At minimum at least inform your guests at check of the requirement. In the end it wasn't even about the bottle of juice and cereal cup, it was the point of it all. Price wise, it is a comparable to any five star hotel range with amenities such as full body spa, 2 outdoor swimming pools, 1 indoor swimming pool, arcade game room, many fire pits for bbqing marshmallow at night, proper size gym, a few event rooms, mountain bikes rental, 2 restaurants, 1 trinket store, 1 clothing store, and many (I didn't really counted) elevators throughout its 2 wings. There are 8 Tesla chargers and 2 non-Tesla chargers available in the parking lots. Breakfast buffet is available for guest which we opted. Very close by is a pizzeria for alternative choice of meals and a general store for things you may forget to bring. Hospitality wise, personnel are terrific and very welcoming! The room is extremely clean (perhaps, it may have been recently renovated)! I shall say spit-clean! The room we have has 70+ inch TV & out door sitting area with 2 red seats for lounging. In-room microwave can be ordered with additional charge, If you must warm your food, there is a communal microwave available on 2nd floor of the end of east wing. We came here for the close location to Yosemite and the ability to bring our dogs. When we got here, they informed us that the dogs can't stay in the room unattended. At ALL. Not for dinner, not if you are doing resort activities, and definitely not if you are at Yosemite. But, they do have a kennel. For $20 per dog, per hour..... And you have to have their vaccination record with Bordatella and Parvo vaccines. So, we didn't get to do a lot of the activities because we weren't able to leave our dogs, and didn't want to pay $40 per hour extra for any activity we wanted to do. read more

What a great place! We were debating on a cabin or staying in the main lodge. We made the right decision. Our Contemporary suite, was nicely decorated and comfortable for the three of us. The fireplace completed the seating area, making it nice and cozy. We liked how there was a closet area by the front entry. The king bed was super comfy and the outdoor patio was perfect to get some fresh air. The only con was the loud, white noise when the heater ran. It would shut off (since it was on auto) but at times it woke me up when it turned on. We liked how there was a side door right outside of our entrance that spit us out to the front area, to the right of valet/main entrance.l so we were able to walk over to check out the cottages, bike rental area, etc. It's a nice getaway! read more

We had been going to Tenaya Lodge for the last 10 years making it a family tradition to make a trip over the winter break. Evidence of these nostalgic memories are always present in our photographs of the gingerbread houses and with the handmade christmas ornaments that our kids made and which still decorate our tree. We especially loved their New Years parties. We broke the tradition over the Covid period and haven't been back for a few years after that and decided that 2025 was the year we would rekindle our family tradition. We booked the room and bought tickets to the New years eve party and went there with high expectations only to find a very different hotel and experience. The first clue should have been the complete lack of diversity but we ignored that as we were swept up in the excitement of seeing the familiar christmas tree and the lure of free hot chocolate. The night of the New years party, my husband and I went downstairs to collect the wristbands for ourselves and our two kids. After standing in line for 20 mins, we were told curtly by the hostesses that we could not get our wristbands because all members of the party needed to be there and also to please note that there would be no dinner included. They said this in a dismissive, exasperated way and immediately moved on to the next guests, like we didn't matter. The email had said that the doors would open at 8:00 PM. We arrived at 8:05 PM and when we went inside every single table was occupied. A lady just in front of us came over with the same complaint and the hostesses went hunting for 10 mins to find her family a table, when we told them the same thing, we were told that we should try to find a table in one of the smaller adjacent rooms in a completely different part of the venue and that there was nothing they could do for us. They said it was our fault for getting there 5 mins later than when the doors opened!! I asked them point blank if their suggestion was that if the main ballroom had the entertainment, the stage, the music and the food, they want us to go to a different corner where none of the other guests or music were and they shrugged their shoulders like - yes, that's what I just said. Needless to say, we asked for our money back politely and even with that, there was no apology, just a casual, "ok, have it your way, we don't really care" attitude with which they gave us the money back. Should we have asked for our entire week's stay back, because the New Years party was the main reason we went there? We took the high road and decided not to make a scene but I did want to warn other guests about the very different vibe and the not so subtle racist behaviour that we encountered. In addition, half the games in the family room were broken, the pool smelled like pee and there was no life guard, piles of used towels and not to mention the lackluster food in the restaurant. Came here with the hubs to celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary. Tristina checked us in and went above and beyond to make our stay special. We enjoyed a king suite with garden view. The room is very modern and feels comfy and cozy. Love the extra perks like free ice skating, s'mores and an indoor pool with a pool movie night! I noticed a lot of the bad reviews were for the restaurant which really should be rated separately. The only bad thing I have to say which is very minor is that for all the nice ways the hotel feels luxurious, they really need better toilet paper and tissue lol. If that's my only complaint, then I'd have to say this is a very sweet property! read more

It was our first time staying in the cabin. We came around 12 noon just so that we can start enjoying the amenities with the kids. As soon as you drive in the traffic was a mess. There's no one regulating traffic. People are parking everywhere who are not staying at Tanaya to play in the snow by the archery. Everyone is blocking the driveway of the main entrance with no one directing people to use a diff route due to the traffic jam. The cabin... our phone didn't work in the living room area, there were supposed to be a set of s'mores kit in our cabin, but there was none. The fire pit right beside our cabin was never turned on. The cleanliness of the cabin could be better. There was some sticky stuff on the floor. And I understand after the winter storm, everyone wants to come up to the mountain to play in the snow, but the parking spaces by the cabin area is very limited and non-guest are taking spots to play in the snow by the cabins. You'd think with the amount you're paying to stay that there would be some regulations so that guests can have priority parking. Amenities....skating area was pretty busy, would've been prob be better if there was more than one person working the booth. Pool...water seemed so cloudy and dirty, the pool night movie time posted at the lobby didn't match when they actually played the movie. In the lobby it was posted at 6:30, instead the movie was played at 8pm. Front desk, there seemed to only be one person there most of the time and the line to speak to someone took so long, and it didn't help when people would just cut and come up to speak to them so then you'd loose you're turn. It just seemed there was a lack of staff. Pros...cabin was cozy, our server at the restaurant was great. We dined for lunch at 2pm and dinner at 8pm and has our food our fairly quickly, which was a major plus with little hungry kids. Loved how dog friendly they are. We ordered plain burger patty and carrots for our pup and was served in a dog bowl. Lady at the gift shop was so kind, loved her. read more

We booked a one night stay July 3 at tenaya lodge. The experience wasn't the greatest and I was expecting a good experience due to the price of $600 a night, first off the spa faucet was broken and we couldn't use it, also we were missing a bath robe. Then I was looking for dining options in the lodge and they had a few spots, and decided on the pizza we didn't know they had shuttles running to the restaurant nobody informed us of the shuttles so I was given walking directions to the pizza place and was told to walk down the main road which is very dangerous since I had two young children and cars were driving by fast. We decided it wasn't safe anymore and walked back. Also the balcony was not safe and the rail was very wobbly and moved a lot, I didn't let my kids out on the balcony because the rails were so loose that I was scared they would fall. For the money I expected a better experience but it was no better than a local hotel. Save your money and don't come here. read more

What a difference a year makes. We stayed last year and had some issues but this year was absolutely perfect. The customer service at the Tenaya lodge is outstanding. From the bell man to the seating hostess to the telephone operator they are all super friendly. We stayed in an Explorer cabin which was like having your own cozy cabin in the woods. The cabin has a microwave and and coffee maker and toaster and a full size fridge so you can heat up meals and make popcorn. There are two bar stools and a leather couch and chair. There are two bedrooms with nice beddings and a bathroom and a balcony off the back bedroom. One bedroom has a king bed and the other one has either bunk beds or a queen bed. Take a couple of coffee mugs for your coffee. They give you a few paper plates and paper coffee cups and two servings of flatware. They have great walking trails and have fire pits scattered around. There is a reception center where you can pick up the chocolate and graham crackers and marshmallows to sit around the camp fire and roast. They also have a Starbucks coffee machine which my husband loved. They also have ice cream and drinks you can buy. There are deer outside on the trails which I loved. Our stay was first class and comfortable and they have a restaurant so you never have to leave to get good food. We will definitely be back real soon. We had a wonderful time. read more

The food quality at the restaurant downstairs "Jackalopes" is not good. You pay $25 for a breakfast buffet when the eggs taste watery and the bacon is chewy. The veggies for a family of 6 all came out cold. They also mixed up our steaks and made things very confusing. The customer service was okay. We had a couple nice servers but the manager was a bit rude. I asked him for a high chair and he acted like he had no time to help me. He rudely looked at one of his employees and said "deal with this. He needs a high chair." As for the hotel itself, it seems a bit run down. The check in process was confusing. On Christmas Day, we weren't told by front desk about the special Christmas dinner so we had to settle for Jackelopes. The pool was gross and didn't look like it was being cleaned throughout the day. One of the jacuzzis was splashing from the jets for 3 days straight (looked too low). We had no hot water in our shower for a couple to hours. For a place that charges $500+ for a room per night, this place is way over priced for what it is. If you think you're saving time because you stay here, the time it took us from the Tenaya, to the entrance of Yosemite, took 2 hours...I'd rather stay somewhere else next time! read more

Shit show. Visited with family (13 people) for Christmas. Half of us were shitting out of both ends by day two. They have one kitchen that you are forced to eat out of due to #1: distance, and possibly #2: weather. Forced food poisoning & forced high prices, lovely. Many areas are also due for maintenance, found leaks in our rooms & pool area is grimy and stuffy... many of the community rooms smell bad. A tiny bag of nuts, like ones given out for free on plane rides, will cost $4 each. Thinking about dinner? A half can of soup? $14. Firstly, the property was gorgeous and had so many amenities. We enjoyed the night flashlight hike with our very knowledgable guide Peter who became a friendly face for the rest of our stay. The hike itself was a great introduction to the trees and wildlife in the area, and looking at the stars quickly became the highlight of the hike. We also enjoyed the free ice skating the following day, and dinner at Jackelopes bar and grill was delicious. The bartender, Daniel, was very charismatic and made great drinks that we both enjoyed. The resort itself is a short distance away from the park, but regardless, the staff made the visit above and beyond. I can't wait for my next visit here! read more

We visited Tenaya 2 years ago, and this time we stayed in a Premium Explorer Cabin. Explorer Cabin (highly recommended!) + spacious (our cabin had a king, queen and sofa bed) + cozy gas fireplace + coffee maker, electric kettle and toaster provided + good size fridge/freezer, complete with ice maker + good water pressure + mounted TVs in each room + cute patio + clubhouse: included continental breakfast (7-9am), wine (5-6pm) and s'mores (6-9pm) + little store inside the clubhouse with items for purchase + multiple cute fire pits for s'mores and hanging out + on-call shuttle van to Tenaya Tenaya Lodge + Jackalope's was better than expected. Great service and the food was yummy + it has such a family-friendly ambiance + every staff member was so friendly + the complimentary yoga class was amazing! + love the gift shops and deli (perfect for grab and go items like snacks, drinks and sweets) + lobby has lemon water, cucumber water, snacks & s'mores in the evening + just over an hour drive from popular destinations like Tunnel View, Bridalveil Fall, Yosemite Village, etc. Room for improvement - I was so looking forward to using the spa, but it unexpectedly closed early at 6pm the night I stopped in - indoor pool/hot tub was fun, but definitely over-chlorinated and has seen better days. The nightly movie is a nice touch and so grateful that towels are provided. - Game room was fun, but outdated and missing equipment (e.g. air hockey puck) - Ice skating was fun (love that it is included now!) but the ice was really choppy and extremely hard to really skate on (even after the Zamboni) Overall, Tenaya is in a prime location and an ultimate vacation spot (especially while staying in the cabins!) We stayed in the cabins this most recent time. We've stayed in the hotel before. And our friends have stayed at the cottages. It's all beautiful. The main lodge was still decorated with Christmas decor. There was live music every evening in the lodge lobby, Saturday night there was star gazing with telescopes managed by an astronomer, and s'mores kits offered every night. One restaurant open and the convenient store. Good thing as it's always helpful to have access to food and snacks without needing to leave the premises. Shuttle to and from the cabins were very supportive. read more

Gosh, we came here pretty excited, as it looks so kid friendly on the site. While it is fairly kid friendly, it has so many shortcomings that I absolutely would not stay again. - The restaurant is truly forgettable. And they are so slow. Brutally slow. - they didn't clean our room the first day. Second day they came in and emptied the trash (and missed one...) and removed a few towels. They didn't make the bed. They didn't clean the table. At first I didn't even think they came in. - the front desk and concierge says "I don't know" to most questions. - despite the website showing archery in the snow, and it not actively snowing for multiple days, they canceled archery due to snow... - they were supposed to have free snores every night. Yet Friday night they decided they weren't doing it. I asked and they rudely said "there's no snores tonight." Why explain, right? - you literally cannot display the extremely loud heater. When you turn it off, it automatically turns back on some time later. I had a tech come in and he confirmed this was by design. - it's nice that you can borrow sleds. But when I went to return them the booth was mysteriously closed. - the layout of this place is strange. Getting from the rooms the pool requires a series of elevators and stairs. - half of the elevators were broken - a bucket sat collecting water in the stairwell - the power went out in the city and the back up generator failed, so there was no power for almost a full day - the "heated" pool is barely heated. And it's portly ventilated. - a single 12oz can of sparkling water is 4.75. They know they have you so they really make you pay. - As a positive, the massages were great. read more

I usually prefer to stay inside the valley when visiting Yosemite (which I do around once a year) because it's so nice to just be able to go back to your room to rest more easily after a day of hiking, this is my go-to when I either can't get a room at the Yosemite Lodge or want a more premium experience without having to pay Ahwahnee prices. Our recent stay, we were visiting with friends over a *very* hot August weekend (not my choice) and it was sweltering in the valley so much that we barely ended up staying for a few hours of short walks in between air conditioned buildings. We retreated back up to Tenaya and had a great time there instead. The pools are great -- one outdoor, one indoor, both with hot tubs. So you can decide whether you want to care about sunscreen or not. The indoor one shows movies on the wall in the evening. There's a game room next to the pool with a few retro arcade machines, foosball, skee ball, and an air hockey table -- when we came in, the air hockey table was missing its puck, but someone from the hotel staff came very quickly to fix the issue when another guest called about it. There are several shops, selling gifts, necessities, and food. Water bottle refills in the lobby as well as a Bevy machine with flavored water as well. Choices of restaurants, with a nicer sitdown restaurant near the lobby (absolutely delicious), a small cafe with a Starbucks, a BBQ outside, and a pizza place just down the street near the cabins. And plenty of activities to do while you're there! The kids loved learning archery in the morning and glassblowing in the evening before and after we went down into the valley, but we honestly could have just stayed in Tenaya on our whole trip and done the walks and tours they do during the day as well. Especially with the Sugar Pine Railroad just a couple of miles away, there's so much to do. Even more if you're into the spa they have there as well. read more

As a word of caution, I would be wary of staying here if you are a minority. While the people at the BBQ place, valet, and Zach at glassblowing class (not hired by the hotel but a recreation activity on property) are excellent, everyone was either bad at their job, if you give them the benefit of the doubt, or racist. The front desk was less than enthusiastic on multiple occasions- I heard the person next to us explaining about housekeeping but our host never said a word. The first day of our trip, we were gone for the 360 tour for the entire day and our trash was never emptied or towels refreshed (apparently this is the routine daily service here). The next day we call down first thing in the morning for service. At 3pm when it was time for kids to nap, no one came so that required another call. Had to ask specifically for full turndown and was told it has to be requested the day in advance. We had to leave two days of trash and dirty towels outside the room. Spoiler alert- no housekeeping the next day either. It really feels like the hotel is trying to save on house keeping by not informing guests. At very minimum the trash should be cleared and coffee bar restocked. The front desk also do not have the activity paper so had to wait for concierge desk for a long time to get handed a piece of paper with activity times. The activities are not well marked- there is a sign for archery behind the hotel but you have to go down the trail to the "gold"/rock panning and further for the archery. There is also smores at night but it is not listed on paper or chalk board. While the activiities are mostly free and pretty fun- the staff there ruined the experience. Our kids would wait in line while the staff would tend to the non minority kids. I had to ask after 5-10 minutes to get someone to help us when two staff members had been standing around looking right past us. The rock panning person also didn't restock the rocks on our side but went back several times to restock the rocks of the white guests even helping them look for rocks. The same at the concierge desk where we were waiting patiently- when one person was free she walked away and then started talking to a white guest about it pine cones instead of helping us. It's very disheartening to be spending money at an establishment that would treat people this way in this day and age. The room, indoor pool, and outdoor pools otherwise were great. Location is close to the train station and entrance of Yosemite park. The parking is free and ample. The lobby also has flavored water, snacks, and salt water taffy. All this did not make up for the poor experience. There are other reviews accusing this establishment of racism and interestingly found an artictle where the hotel canceled a meeting of white suprematists in 2017 after backlash. It would be nice to see some positive changes especially as a hotel/vacation spot where people are spending money. We loved our stay at Tenaya Lodge. It's a wonderful destination for families. Check-in was smooth, and we really appreciated the process to request early check-in via their website, especially during a holiday weekend. There were so many great amenities for kids -- they especially enjoyed the different pools, the arcade room, and fun activities like the s'mores bar and movie night by the pool. The staff was amazing. Very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious. The dinner at Jackelope was a hit or miss, breakfast buffet was awful. It's located in close proximity to Yosemite but if you're going to go to Yosemite, make sure you make a reservation. If you don't make it to Yosemite, the lodge has plenty of activities. It's very family, friendly and pet friendly. I just read a review that stated the s'mores are complimentary and another review read breakfast is complimentary. We were never informed of this. I suggest checking with the hotel before hand to verify this information. We also were directed to the pickleball court by the concierge. We followed directions and ended up back at the entrance to the hotel. I went to the front desk for clearer directions and was told the pickleball court was closed for renovations. We were given directions to the Archery area. We had to pass through pickleball to get to Archery and found guests playing pickleball!!!!That had been the only activity my grandson requested to do and was disappointed to see guests playing when we were told it was closed???Unfortunately on our last day we were awakened by the fire alarm going off. Everyone left their rooms and kinda just hung around waiting for the staff to direct us. They never did. The alarm was turned off we packed and checked out at 7:00 am. No explanation was given at check out other than front desk saying "Oh yay that must have been annoying". I hope in the future the hotel provides the staff with communication skills so they are able to communicate with the guests. read more

I really don't understand the bad reviews of this hotel. It's a great hotel just under an hour away from Yosemite village. Great location close to many hiking trails, the Mariposa grove, bass lake etc... staff is friendly and helpful. During the Christmas season the hotel looks magical. A huge beautiful tree in the middle of the lobby right by the fireplace makes this place so magical. Imagine a glass of wine or a cup of tea sitting by the fire and enjoying the beautiful. The whole ambiance is great here during the holidays. Lots of fun activities for the whole family including ice skating, snores by the fire... guided tours, activities and more. The restaurant serves delicious meals, the bar has a cozy atmosphere that serves yummy drinks, the gift shops are filled with cutest Christmas merchandise which I took advantage of 50%off after Christmas Day. A very nice place to spend a few days with family or just as couples, check them out. read more
