Called to schedule an appointment for a full cut. Person who answered the phone was inquiring about my dog, breed, size, etc. I informed her my dog was an Australian Shepard weighing in at 45 pounds. She came back on the phone and said "yea, we're gonna pass on that one". Like WTF, must be nice to be just turning down business, and to handle it in those words was a bit absurd. I could understand if I told her I had a problem dog or she was aggressive, but that's not the case. Still a bit shocked. read more

For 80 dollars a SMALL dog you would think the cuts would be great. Both times they didn't follow our SIMPLE instructions. The cut looks like they just take clippers and do it all on one setting. Anal glands are extra. And last time they plucked my dog's ear hair with what MUST have been non sterile equipment because she got a horrible ear infection right after. Rude. They did a fantastic full-grooming job on my three small dogs (two Havanese boys and a Shih-poo girl). I was able to schedule an appointment for all three at the same time, which was so convenient for me. I only had to wait a week to get the appointment so they were accommodating and flexible. Took my dogs there for the first time after several recommendations. When picked up the dogs looked great but, after inspecting the dogs further I noticed that they nipped one of the dogs on both ears and her groin area looks raw and possible cut. She has been so shaken up and now wont let us pet her near her ears. She has never come back like this after going to the groomers. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back and proceed with caution for your fur babies! Also, so over priced! Paid 116 for both dogs! There are much better places for better prices! read more

I called to make an appointment due to a friend's referral and explained that my Shih Tzu/Maltese mix is a rescue and was formerly abused. He does not like his face groomed and he is squirmy, they told me that wouldn't be an issue because they are used to working with dogs with "behavioral issues". When I dropped him off I specifically told the woman I did not want him shaved AT ALL and she said that too wouldn't be a problem because he "looked great". She ran her hands through his fur and said there were only 2 little spots behind his ears that were matted that they would have to shave. Okay, so I get a call from the owner to inform me Sebastian was ready to be picked up. She instantly had an attitude with me on the phone so I asked if he gave anyone a hard time. She replied with "Oh yeah. He put up a good fight. He bit me multiple times, actually BIT not nipped at me, and he was very stubborn. He does this little trick where he pulls his back legs up and hangs himself so he has abrasions around his neck and I had to shave him." The rest of our conversation is not important but the entire time she was NOT customer friendly. I hung up and told my boyfriend he had to go with me to pick Sebastian up because I was worried what condition he was in...and I kept thinking ABRASIONS? WHAT? As we approached the store we saw Sebastian sitting in a kennel - they had asked me how he did in kennels and I told them he had once been left in a kennel for so long that when we got him his back legs were weak and the little-to-no-muscle he did have was damaged; so when they also said that wouldn't be an issue I assumed they would not be putting him in a kennel, I was sadly mistaken). Anyway, the abrasions on his neck were evident so my boyfriend said "Oh my god what happened to him! What in the hell" - we walked in the door and the owner had pulled him out of the kennel and said to the other woman working "Well I already heard dad flipping out about his neck. Hahaha". The owner said "I've been doing this for over 25 years and I've only had to send a few dogs home. I wasn't going to let him be one of them, I'm as stubborn as he is." I'm very upset that they were aware that he may not be totally compliant but took it upon themselves to give me back a physically and emotionally damaged dog instead of calling me to come get him simply because "she's only sent a few dogs home in her 25 years". I was in tears, she claimed he had been "matted everywhere so they HAD to shave him" which was 100% false - I bathe him once a week and I brush him twice a day. Needless to say she did a great job on his face, it looks wonderful but his chest and legs look like a 5 year old got ahold of their fathers electric shaver and buzzed my dog. Sebastian would not sit still long enough for me to take close up pictures of his neck but I have attached a few for reference. If your dog is easily groomed I'm sure they would do a great job as a good friend of mine swears by this place, but if your fur baby is a little harder than I would NEVER recommend taking them to this shop. read more

I have been going to a the same dog groomers for quite a while but my last couple visits were less than great. My dog was never ready when I got there and the cut was always uneven. I guess I kept going back because it was so close to home. Ginger's hair got to the point where she couldn't wait another day for a cut so we started calling around. You Dirty Dog was able to get us right in (although I always recommend calling for an apt ahead of time, i'm sure that was an unusual occurance) The hair cut was perfect, the staff was great and you could tell Ginger enjoyed her experience. I won't go any where else for my dog's grooming! read more

I have a rowdy, high-energy boxer who loves playing in whatever standing water or mud that's available to him at any given time. I would never even think of taking him anywhere else. I know what you're thinking, "boxer? Why don't you just throw him in the tub?" Well, it's not that simple. He's a total pain in the butt and hates getting his nails clipped and needs special allergy shampoo, so this is way better than fighting with him. Took my Goldendoodle there a few weeks ago and can't say I'll be a returning customer. I'll start with the good: my dog did look very handsome when I picked him up. Clean, blown out, well groomed. I am not saying he looked bad, because that certainly wouldn't be the truth. However, for the price I paid I was not a satisfied customer. I am new to my area and was looking for a local business to support. I called "You Dirty Dog" on the advice of a coworker. He never had anything but great things to say. When I called and spoke with the person on the phone, I explained that I wanted a scissors cut all over. My doodle is way more golden than poodle and having him shaved would look silly. No problem, I was told. $59-$69 depending on matting. I thought this was great so I made an appointment. Upon dropping him off, I went over what I wanted again and I was told they cannot scissors the whole body. If I wanted a full haircut, all they could do was shave him leaving a max of an inch and a quarter. The standard groom was scissors around face, tail, paws, wings and thinning the underbelly. For $59-$69 (including teeth, nails, anal glands, ears). I agreed figured that should be good. I was told he wasn't matted anywhere she could tell and he would be ready in a few hours. However, when I picked him up I'm don't think I received my money's worth. I was told by the girl working the desk that I owed $89. I was asked for payment PRIOR to seeing my dog. I figured maybe they did scissors him after all and paid, with a $15 tip for a total of $105. Like I said, he looked great, but here's were I feel we didn't get enough. His eyebrows, which were beginning to fall over his eyes before we took him are still the same length. His tail and wings also the same length. Beard or around the face was not cut from what My wife an I could tell. However, underbelly, paws, nails were great. Ears were cleaned, but hairs inside not plucked. Maybe I needed to specifically ask for that, so no biggy there. The groomer came out and told me that his paws were matted and she had to shave them in some places. I don't doubt they were, he's got long hair and it was his first cut since winter started so I had no doubts. However, I don't understand where the extra money I paid for came from. If I would've been charged on the higher end ($69) I would've been ok with it, but the extra $20? I'm not so sure. My wife also noticed a mysterious grey spot on his back, which lasted for about a week and I still don't know what it was. I've attached a picture. Maybe I should've brought it up at the time, but I was just so confused. I basically paid $105 for a bath and brush, nails, ears, teeth, anal gland, underbelly cut and paw cut - from what I could tell. This can be done elsewhere for much cheaper. We did not pay that much for a full scissors cut and all other grooming services elsewhere (including tip). I cannot say we will be back. For those who are thinking of going I urge you to fully understand what you're getting for your money. She was a nice lady and all the dogs looked great, but I'm not comfortable with her price point. We have 5 female dogs (3 large and 2 small) , and I would never trust anyone else to care for my pets' grooming needs other than You Dirty Dog. The owner, all the groomers, and the bather are professional and courteous. A couple of our dogs go long periods of time between grooms, and I pay more for my own neglect. But this, of course, is true anywhere, for any type of service. Every time the dogs come home from You Dirty Dog, they prance around and feel super pretty (until it rains and they mud themselves up again). Highly recommend! read more

I had been having issues with Pet Smart for a while and finally they said they couldn't see my miniature labradoodle, Santiago anymore because he was a danger to them and himself. They told me he needed to be sedated in order to be groomed and that didn't sit well with me. So I called called a few places and explained the story and Andrea from You Dirty Dog stayed on the phone with me for quite a few minutes discussing my concerns and told me to bring him on in and so I did. Turns out Pet Smart had been neglecting his ears and paws so he had an ear infection and so she was unable to give him a full grooming although she got the mats out of his paws and cleaned his sanitary areas free of charge, bless her, and said to come back once the infection was cleared. I did. I brought him back as a nervous mom because he's never had a good experience and when I picked him up, he was fully groomed, beautiful and happy! Today I took my miniature golden doodle to The Dirty Dog to be groomed. When the woman came to meet me I told her I just wanted a bath and brush out no trim. I told her that because I paid $98 in march for a trim! I thought that was a lot of money so I didn't want to spend that much again. She asked me if I've been brushing her and I said I've tried. She said well you have to do better than that! I felt like I got scolded by my mother. Later in the after I got a call saying my dog was ready. I asked how much and she said $85. I was shocked! I guess I should've got her cut too for that much money!!! She was matted. So when I went to pick her up I told her I was surprised at how much I owed. She said she was very matted and it took very long to brush her out. She asked why I didn't get her trimmed and I said I didn't want to spend that much money again!!! I said I probably should have for what I paid! I told her I just don't like the normal cuts for the golden doodles (even though I liked the one she got in March) So she showed me a book of groomed golden doodles. I explained my dog will look different with that type of cut because her legs are very skinny and her snout very long. She said she will not bath and blow her out again. It would be cruel to the dog. She had me sign the credit card slip as she stood there..... I tipped $10. So this trip was $95!!!!! Ridiculous! She made me feel like I was a horrible person and dog owner! I took my Samoyed there 8 months ago and it costs me $64. Other groomers in the $75 range, so not bad. I took him there again and they said it may be a FEW $ more. He wasn't heavily matted, and when I picked him up, they wanted $130. DOUBLE FROM LAST TIME. It was totally unexpected and shocking. My daughter took her part pyrenees to these idiots and they shaved her. They did not have permission to shave her nor is it a healthy thing to shave this type of dog. When they confronted the owner, she took the best option for a good defense is an offense and said they hadn't properly cared for her and she had matted hair. What this idiot did not know is that she had been under vet care for several months and about $2000 for a ruptured ear vessel. She was not allowed to groom her. Additionally, she has been caring for me, after a total hip replacement. This woman did not offer her money back which is good because now they will be taking her to court for damages. They were to lazy to cut and just took the easy way out. The poor dog shakes today when you go near her so we are convinced they hurt her. Too bad dogs can't talk or they's probably lose the business. Now I realize the name of the business is the name of the owner - a real dirty dog. read more
