Unprofessional behavior from movers This was a terrible and traumatic experience! I hired this company's service on October 22, the last week. I moved from Ballantyne, NC, to South Park, NC. They didn't complete the move until the next day. They had to return to the residence because they lost the hardware from one bed. Also, they left items without wrapping. The next day, when they came back, once they had installed it, one of the guys asked for pay, and my card was declined because of my change in the zip code. There were three workers here, and there was no supervisor. Ok. So, when my card was declined, I called my husband, and he tried to give them a credit card number over the phone. They could not take that, and they became hostile. The guy insisted that he wanted the card physically. So, they said my husband needed to come here and give them the card. He was at a job site and could not leave. So, the guy started yelling at me and threatened to take my stuff. He walked room by room, looking at what he could take. They were three guys against two women. I said to the guy to leave my house. He refused to leave because he wanted to take my stuff, so I ran to the door to stop him from taking my belongings. My cousin called my husband, crying and looking at the situation. The guy was trying to intimidate me, so I called the police, and he decided to leave, but I stopped him because he had taken my stuff and was waiting for the police. The guy was out of control. My husband talked to the owner, and he told him to leave. We paid the bill for the move on Saturday morning, which was over $5000. I feel now traumatized by the situation. I feel like I was assaulted in my own house. You know how much stress it is to move from one place to another and care about your belongings. That's because we hired a service that says it is " professional." That was a big mistake; they are not what they say. For this horrible experience, I never recommend this company. After using You Move Me for multiple moves over the years I hate to do this, but this most recent move (within 15 minutes of each home) was one of the worst I have experienced. And, too be honest I was going with a two, but going to average my previous 5 star review hence the 3 stars. Scheduling went well, boxes were delivered for me to pack, but the day of the delivery is inexcusable. Three gentlemen showed up, one lead man, and when I walked him to my 1 bedroom apartment and showed them what I was moving, including the boxes "I" packed, not them, dining room table, couch, one chair, bed and dresser and a chair. Pretty simple. The lead laughed and said "I love when they give me two guys for a simple job". From there, they took their sweet time, almost 3 hours or more. Crazy! We continued to ask what was taking so long and nothing, in turn I reached out to the Owner, who somewhat listened, but was not in the apartment to know how long things were taking. Needless to say they were not too happy that I called the boss and things went downhill from there. When we arrived at my new home, they damaged walls, floor, broke a mirror and had slashed two of my boxes with a knife, all over. Not acceptable. And, they had the audacity to say the box was like that. Ah, no it wasn't because I packed the boxes. I will never recommend this company for moving. They damaged my console table and placed soiled pads on my furniture which caused some staining. The movers took photos of damage and sssured me the owner would be in contact. I hate moving. Each time I have moved I swore it would be my last time. I hated the move I just did with You Move Me Charlotte. But here is why I am posting this 5-star review. The men who served as my moving crew worked hard and were completely professional and capable. A couple of things went wrong, neither of which I could blame on the crew. I called the office the next day to complain about those things, and the response was a perfect example of customer service done right. I am not going to arouse suspicion by describing what went wrong and I am not going to create expectations by describing how they offered to make up for what went wrong. But if you hate moving half as much as I do, you need the professionalism of these good folks. read more

Moving with "you move me" has been the worst experience of my life and a months long dispute. I initially signed up for them based on their good reviews. My initial estimate included an hourly rate, and I was only moving within the SAME building. When I spoke to someone the Monday before my move I confirmed I wanted a full packing and yet that conversation has been "lost" When the two movers came for my two bedroom apartment, they initially moved my furniture and then asked if there was anything else, we said yes everything. They said they weren't told this but they've done this before when the boss has given them misinformation. Over eight hours later, my items had been moved in one giant box just thrown on top of each other. Everything was laid out in piles on the floor, on surfaces etc. There were scissors and knives left in my small 4 month old puppies bed. Spices and kitchen supplies were mixed with laundry detergents. I have never in my life seen destruction like this before. After 8 hours and $1800 later, they left. I moved from boston to Charlotte with a full packing and unpacking and this only cost me $3000 yet moving floors with an elevator and no service cost me $1800 I tried speaking with the owner several times who offered for them to box my stuff. How can you box stuff that has been thrown everywhere and completely mixed up? If you were moving in an organized way you could unpack one box at a time, but to unpack a disaster makes no sense I have been disputing this for months now, and the owner seems to have lost all conversations of me saying I wanted a full packing. Yet I was standing in Trader Joe's when I was on the phone and know exactly when and where this conversation was held. He says I got the services I was offered. I tell you, I have legitimately never seen anything like this in my life. I beg of you not to trust this company. This has been a months long headache and it is still going on. YouMoveMe moved my 81-year-old Mother from Charlotte to Atlanta over Thanksgiving weekend and they were AWESOME! Everything was carefully wrapped and cared for as if it was their own. They even took down a hanging Grandfather clock and carefully packed it so it would not have any damage. Her antique desk and glassware were also treated with the utmost care. Once it all arrived (right on schedule) her items were moved in and placed perfectly. The entire time, our movers were friendly, helpful, and informative. I've helped other people move and have seen some of the moving companies at work and have never been impressed. This time, I'm very impressed! My first experience with You Move Me was with Curtis, who came to my house to give me a quote. He was very professional and just gave me a good feeling about his company. I decided right then to hire him and his team. Jeremy, Tywan and Jordan showed up on the day of the move and worked non stop with great attitudes. They were very efficient and careful with each piece they wrapped and moved. They all went out of their way to please me and my family. The price of the move was very reasonable and well worth it. Let's start out by saying that moving is the worst. It just is. Doesn't matter if you're going up the block or over a few states, it sucks. You Move Me Charlotte makes it much much more tolerable. Curtis and Kimi moved me last Friday - I am still completely thankful and impressed. They were amazing! I will call this company each and every time - and recommend them to everyone. My 3rd floor apartment flooded two weeks ago, and You Move Me came to the rescue. I finally found a new apartment as mine was too water damaged to move back into it after spending 2 weeks in a hotel. I submitted an inquiry on their website, and within 3 hours, Curtis called me to see if they would be a good fit. We went over the number of boxes, furniture pieces, and details of the new apartment. Curtis was so friendly and courteous on the phone. He explained that as a company they focus on moving people, and not just their boxes. He also asked me how I liked my coffee. I was impressed right from the start, and he quoted me $350 lower than other moving companies. Between my inquiry and moving day, Curtis called me 3 or 4 times to see how I was doing and to make sure my move was still on track. I got Curtis and Kimi for 5 hours, and they were incredible. I was moving out of my 3rd floor, down the block to another 3rd floor apartment. On moving day, they called me exactly when they said they would call, and showed up on time, with my Starbucks coffee in hand. Honestly, my apartment steps are pretty beastly, and they didn't complain once. So sweet, friendly, and even took things out of my hands as I started moving things. My second bedroom is used as an art room, so I had a lot of loose canvases that don't wrap up well. They took such care with every item, and kept checking in with me to make sure I was doing ok. They also checked with me as they unloaded the truck to make sure they were putting things in the right place, even the couch at the right angle. We're talking like following me around with things in their arms, to make sure it went in the right room. I loved it. We used You Move Me Charlotte after a clever box was left on our doorstep. We decided to cancel our existing appointment with a large moving company and go with this one instead after reading some reviews and finding the rates very competitive. We had booked 3 movers with Curtis but on the day of our move, only 2 showed up. They reduced our rate and started working. The two movers we had - Kimi and Darius - worked the equivalent of 4 men. They were friendly and courteous after 10+ hours of heat and humidity and countless flights of stairs and multiple refrigerator moves. I was so impressed with these guys, they kept at it until it was finished. I can't say enough about how lucky we were to have Kimi and Darius. They are great ambassadors of your company and brand. I will definitely use You Move Me again and will suggest this company to my friends. I was combining two small offices in to one. My move was organized into four stops. Kimi, Dustin and Mook took this all in stride and cheerfully executed my plan. One of the most difficult pieces was a four drawer lateral fire safe. HEAVY. Those guys dealt with it and got it up the truck ramp without damaging themselves! All three moved fast, were pleasant, had humor, were courteous and did a good job. The reason I did not give five stars had NOTHING to do with the moving crew. There was some miscommunication from the person who took my reservation about arrival time. He told me they would arrive at 8:00 AM but what that meant was between 8:00 - 10:00. They arrived at 9:15. Once the crew got going, everything was fine. read more

You Move Me was recommended by a co-worker. We got three bids for our move . . . YMM was in the middle of the pack. Curtis came to the house, went through all logistics, very polite! Because of the recommendation, we waited five days for an estimate because Curtis was on vacation. We chose YMM. We were scheduled for a four man move. We got 5, two of them were in training. It took two trainees (both of them) 2 hours to take apart our bed frame. WHAT!! Eight screws!! The rest of the crew thought that was pretty funny! Who is paying this bill by the hour? We had to have two trucks to move our things. When the first truck was full and went to pull out of the driveway, our bed frame and dresser mirror was leaning on the truck. The driver pulled out of the driveway and needless to say, the bed frame and mirror crached to the ground. Dents and scratches in the walls, left things in the garage, scratches and dings to almost every piece of furniture we have. $350 to store our things in their truck overnight in their secure locked up facility. Then the move-in - They put the same guy (Only one this time) on bed detail!! Another two hours to put the bed frame back together. At $206 per hour, I had to say something. Again, they seemed to think this was pretty funny. I asked if they put him there to keep him out of their way. We have no idea what he did, but we had to take the headboard and the footboard off the frame because they moved so bad. We have a very large presidents desk in our office. They put a scratch on the top of it right in the middle of the desk. Colored it with a marker and said "The excess will wipe off and you will never notice the scratch" - - wrong! It is very obvious! Our very large mirror was put on the dining room table before they left. I went to hang the mirror on the wall a couple days after the move and low and behold, there was about three inch gash on the table top, along with two other smaller scratches. A picture frame came apart. Glass, picture, frame were stuffed in a back closet in the basement. Well . . . I found it! This is also where I found another piece of the baby bed. Now I just have to find the rest of the bed. All in All, the move took quite a bit longer than anticipated. I had moved about half the boxes across town to the new place prior to moving day thinking i could save time. NOPE Moving is stressful, and your mover is suppose to be the one who takes some of the burdens away for you. We have moved several times with my husband's company so we know the professionalism of movers. This company is definitly NOT professional. A courtesy call asking about the move never happened. Maybe I should have paid my bill after damage control!! As for a star rating, I would not even give a star. To schedule the move, there was no upfront deposit required, Curtis came out prior to my move and inspected the property I was moving from, the contents I needed moved and went over all of the services You Move Me offered to make it a perfect move experience. Moving day: On the day of my move, Curtis called to make sure everything was set, provided me with an estimated time the movers would arrive and made sure I had no last minute requests or changes. The movers were scheduled to arrive between 12 - 2:00PM and were there at 12:15. They called before their arrival and got instructions on where to park and how to access my building. I was moving from a high rise apartment unit so my move required careful planning since it involved scheduling use of the elevator and loading dock. The movers wrapped and secured my furniture before they began, ensuring there would be no damage to my furniture and belongings. The team that moved me was very professional, courteous, respectful and quickly got my move completed. Overall experience: First, do not eliminate You Move Me if you do the estimate tool through the website. Remember it is a program that calculates your move based on the information you submit. The cost of my move was based on a flat hourly rate and the total number of hours it took to load and unload my belongings. You Move Me did it again. Over the past two years since our last move with You Move Me, we've accumulated more stuff and become more settled, which both things contribute to a more difficult move. We also were really lazy with the whole packing process - don't do this. However, from You Move Me's promptness, guidance, and communication, we were able to move my entire place in about 3 hours, including load in and set up. It all started with a box...in a genius marketing move, You Move Me left a moving box at my door and that prompted me to call them. I am so glad I did! After getting a very reasonable quote, I hired them not only for the move but also to pack the kitchen. Matthew & Tyquell came the day before the move for the kitchen pack and knocked it out about 2 hours (it would have taken us all day to do it ourselves!). The day of the move we had 6 guys: Malik, Jordan, Noah, Mike, Chris, and Andrew. We were awed at what a well oiled machine they were! Just like Matthew & Tyquell took great care in packing the kitchen (not a single thing broke during the move!), the move crew took that same care with my furniture. Every piece was meticulously padded and wrapped. Once we got to the new house, they reassembled the furniture and helped place it exactly where I wanted it. Overall, we were so impressed with the entire process and the professionalism of their team. Everyone was so nice, patient, and helpful. Found them on yelp and went off the reviews and that was a big mistake. Scheduled them to move Us, they quoted me a completely different price on what I was actually charged at the end. They are extremely overpriced for what you get. The movers that came to help move my stuff seem to be moving my furniture very slow than what they should've. They took forever to get all my furniture to my new location, had to wait for them because they took a lunch break. And also to this day some of furniture of my is still not put together so now I have to hire another company to put it together. I even still tipped them! They rushed out of here after I tipped them. I don't submit many online reviews but I was so impressed with the service provided by the crew from You Move Me Charlotte (YMMC) today that I had to post something to show my appreciation. Moving can be stressful and YMMC did an excellent job minimizing my stress. I had a short reservation period for the freight elevator in my apartment building and was quite concerned about the crew showing up late or exceeding the reservation period for the freight elevator. Cam called me 45 minutes prior to his schedule arrival time to confirm his arrival time and he and his teammates Dashaun and DaKuaun showed up several minutes early and ready to go. Cam was familiar with my building and took the initiative to work directly with my building concierge to lock out the freight elevator. After minimal paperwork, which Cam knew inside and out, the YMMC crew were ready to work. Once the YMMC crew went to work I was truly amazed by the experience, care, strength, work ethic and team work they demonstrated. My furnishings were treated with care and moved expediently. The YMMC crew made a mockery of my three hour freight elevator reservation by emptying my apartment in less than an hour and a half. All with no damage to my furnishings or my home. The YMMC crew was also very friendly and easy to work with. I have moved many times and more often than not have felt that the movers had any interest in interacting with or seeking direction from me. The YMMC crew was a welcome departure from my prior experience. By the end of my move, I really liked all of the guys on the crew. In short, YMMC delivered everything that I could have wanted from them for a reasonable fee that was significantly less than the fee that I was quoted. read more

Had to call this company last minute (two days before they moved me) because another moving company broke several commitments and was unable to do basic things like call me when a they where canceling my move but I've written my review of them. Anyway needless to say me and my fiancé had to get her moved out of her apartment quickly and with no room for error. My fiancé asked for a quote Saturday morning and we received a phone call a few hours later. They were able to schedule us for the following Monday and gave us a quote that was cheaper than their competitor. Move in Day comes and I get a call telling me that they will be there towards the end of the expected window. This call should be standard service but coming from the situation we just dealt with this was excellent. Dre and Earl, our movers showed up on time. They moved things very quickly from the apartment and into our new home. A few minor scratches but my staircase is so small it's impossible to not give a little scratch. Not only did they help me out of jam when another big local mover dropped the ball, but they came out next day and gave me an estimate. I appreciate that they gave me a conservative estimate so my expectations were set correctly. Everyone on their team is professional AND happy to be doing what they are doing (or at least they act that way). They took extra care in wrapping and handling things. After reading reviews on yelp I decided to give them a call. Curtis came out to give us an estimate. We were very impressed with him and how professional he was. They are always on time or slightly ahead of scheduled time. Cam and Jason were very friendly and super conscientious. All the crew was very polite and friendly. Even though I had some very heavy furniture they never complained. Thanks Jerry for taking apart my desk so it would fit thru the door. UPDATE: Curtis called me to follow up on the review and was much more concerned with the bedbug issue. He ensured me they'd be spraying down the trucks and bringing in an exterminator. I've raised my review to three stars because after I had an exterminator come out to inspect, he thinks it was just one hitchhiking bed bug that found its way in. Since these bugs can sneak in from anywhere, I don't hold the company responsible at all. Curtis was incredibly understanding and professional and kept me updating with his findings (which were that they found zero evidence of bed bugs on their trucks). All this appears to be an unfortunate coincidence. Given how accommodating Curtis has been, I'd be willing to use this company again should I make another local move. I'll just be sure to pack my boxes better. ORIGINAL POST: I keep going back and forth between giving a one and two-star review. On the one hand, the movers were prompt and arrived a few minutes before my scheduled move. They were quick at loading the truck and were willing to take everything: suitcases, floor lamps, whole nine yards (I was only moving around the corner from my current apartment and staying within the complex). However, once my move was completed, I noticed a number of boxes were broken or folding in on the sides. I have at least three boxes with huge gashes in the sides that cut all the way through. Thankfully, none of my belongings were damaged but it does raise some concern since they make you sign a waiver that they are not responsible for damages in the boxes you pack yourself. I also just found a bedbug that I did not have before the move. I had lived in my old apartment for 3+ years and only in the three weeks since I moved was I bit and actually saw the bug. There's no TRUE way of knowing where it came from. The apartment complex insists the apartment was clean before I moved in. However, when I called You Move Me, the person I spoke to refused to even entertain the idea it came from their truck and did not offer to take down any of my information to even look into the truck/supplies that were used for my move. She insisted they sweep out the trucks after every move. This lack of apparent willingness to even look into the issue to possibly prevent a larger bedbug spread is concerning. read more

This was actually the first time I've ever hired movers but I've been taught from a young age that all movers are out to ruin your life. Fortunately I can say that You Move Me actually made my life a lot better. My wife, son, and I were moving 30 minutes across town and we had about 2100 sq. ft. of space (6 rooms) filled with heavy furniture and two flights of stairs to get it all out. I called 4-5 local moving companies and each of them told me over the phone that I'd need 4 guys at anywhere between 160-220/hr. One company even told me I'd need two trucks. Curtis with You Move Me was the only one who insisted on seeing the unit before giving me an estimate, and because he did, he was able to get my rate down to just 3 guys at 125/hr. I locked in a moving date before he even left the house. I called Curtis the week of the move to confirm and I received an additional confirmation call the day before. The movers showed up right on time and just as promised, they came with two Starbucks beverages (custom ordered) that we sipped whilst standing around, watching them move our stuff. We had Kimi, Darius, and Will pack up our entire place in 3:30 hours and the truck was packed so well, they probably could've fit our car in the back. I was incredibly impressed with how securely they wrapped our couches, tables, etc. and how there was no way anything was going to be damaged during the move. I also can't say enough how courteous everybody was throughout the entire process. I was happy to buy them lunch and give them a break halfway through. The unload process seemed to go even quicker and the guys insisted on making sure all of our stuff ended up in the right rooms. They were done shortly after 3pm and our bill was rounded down to the nearest 15 minutes. I was surprised at how accurate the price was compared to my original estimate and even more surprised that it came out to be $50 less. They take credit cards, which was important so that I could get airline miles and also because having a cashier's check on hand was probably the last thing on my mind that day. Based on Yelp I'm sure a number of companies would have done the job well, and possibly at a similar rate, but You Move Me went above and beyond in all categories. read more

My main complaint with this company is that they were sent to the wrong location and after giving them new directions over the phone, they arrived an hour and a half late. Once I parked the truck I started my stopwatch and after 45 minutes of actual work they informed me they need to leave in 20 minutes because the two hours they were booked for was almost up. I convinced them to stay for an extra 30 minutes and was charged 2.5 hours for 1.5 hours worth of true work. I used another company in Wilmington to unpack what these guys packed. They were more professional and took 1.5 hours to set up everything in the new unit, unpack the truck, and organized everything within the new unit. AMAZING! Finally an impressive, classy and honest moving company. I had called some really sketchy local companies...I was discouraged...until I found an Ad for "YOU MOVE ME". The young lady worked out a great quote. Curtis is such a nice man who runs You Move Me...he made sure I had his number in case I had any concerns. The morning of the move Robert and Kimi called 30 minutes out to give me a heads up... They even asked if I would like some coffee or tea! They were so kind and so careful and PROFESSIONAL. I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about, or maybe they just got lucky. The worst moving company to go with. These people helped me move in the end of last month. Up onto the move day everything was very nice they were very polite, phone queries weee answered on time. There was never any issue. But that's where all the niceness ends. They were very slow with packing, has to ask them multiple times to get stuff done. However they left many things behind which I had to pack myself later. They scratched the walls of my brand new house and The wood floor. When I pointed out to them what they had done one of the guys brought in a magic eraser and started rubbing the wall. First of all I got upset at him for using that and secondly didn't even have that much since to wet it before using it. When I I was time to pay them, the gentleman who was like the one in charge was having issues getting signals on his iPad and he goes WHAT THE F*** IS WRONG WITH THIS right in front of my two year old. The nightmare didn't end there the next day when I opened up my boxes that was another disaster. It was like I had my toddler dumping in things for me. Things were leaking everything was a mess. I have been trying to get in touch with the company for the longest time now regarding my damages as I had signed up for full damage insurance but I never hear back from anyone.
