When you are a long time resident of the midwest, cold weather doesn't bother you too much if you just accept it as a natural part of life. I was In broadripple for a book club at the alley cat, and decided that I wanted a bubble tea after. Don't ask me why I just had a craving for it. I had never been to bubble tea and youmi crepes but decided to walk and give it a try. I'm glad I did! Its located next to insominas cookies, its a brigh, colorful, inviting place. They have an autographed wall, and then on the other side they have small polaroid pictures. Seems like they have a lot of options, but I came in with a one track mind bubble tea! I love the stuff! Partial to citrus fruits I got a mango banana bubble tea with mango pearls! It was delicious! The staff was very friendly as well which is an added perk

Stopped in with my wife craving a bubble tea and new to town this was the first place that popped up. $22 plus a 20% tip. The tea itself wasn't terrible but the boba tasted so strongly of cleaner or perfume that they were thrown away before we made it back to our car. I'm only guessing whatever it is made in wasn't rinsed well after washing, $14 literally in the trash. Got home split the crepe. Tasted fine like anything covered in Nutella and banana but the crepe was paper thin and tough as leather, could not cut with a fork....now we know

My perfect threesome on our first date: You-mi-bubbletea. Actually any threesome on a first date sounds pretty amazing. MMF, MFF, idc. MMM, not as fun unless I'm dressed F. Anyway. By Indianapolis bubble tea standards, Youmi is really good. By general standards, it would only score a 4 - or less. But the service is really friendly, the prices are really good, and they have aloe vera as a topping which tastes good. The milk tea is nice, but not spectacular. The lemon tea is a little bland, not sweet enough, but interesting. The aloe vera topping makes it better. Overall I appreciate Youmi's in a city of little Bubble Tea (and nothing worth shouting about at all). It's a really nice little shop with cute decor. Better than any of the St. Louis or Detroit-Ann Arbor Bubble Tea shops I tried. Comparable to the best of Cleveland. Which isn't saying much but still. 5 stars.

Nasty. Cute place but our drinks were not good and we ended up throwing them away. Half the tapioca were uncooked (hard). I didn't like the consistency of the lychee milk tea (chalky) and my boyfriend's mango strawberry smoothie had spots that were straight up sugar. The quality has definitely dropped over time so I'm not sure what happened but we won't be back unfortunately.

To be completely honest.. terrible. One of the worst feelings is being hungry, or thirsty and having high expectations for something to be delicious and it turns out to be disgusting. I was eating outside and saw people coming out of a spot with pretty drinks. So I decided to go in and explore the menu. I opted for a ginger tea & honey bubbles. They didn't bother to ask what size I wanted so I had to get their attention and request a larger cup. The tea looked murky so I knew right away it was artificial flavoring.. but decided to give it a few tries, even asking a friend to take a gulp. We both agreed my tea was disgusting. I'm sad for my $8 I spent. I'm sad for my tongue. I'm sad for my belly. I'm sad for my salad that accompanied the tea :(

Let me preface that this review is about my most recent experience at Youmi. I had gone a few times the previous year and absolutely loved their milk tea. However when I visited in mid-August, I was definitely disappointed. I am hoping it was a fluke, so the 3 stars combines my previous awesome experiences but the review below is an alert to the owners that changes are needed. So I am a boba fiend. There I have admitted it. That's the first step, right? Anyway, I love milk tea and I love traditional boba. When they bury me, may they do so with an cold boba milk tea in my hand so that I may enjoy it in whatever is next. Youmi used to be my go-to spot in Indy when the urge struck and I was in the Broad Ripple area. Their milktea was everything a boba-addict wanted. Perfectly cooked and fresh tea taste. Unfortunately on 8/15/18 at 12:27pm (a day that will live in infamy) my taste buds wept. I was wrapping up an appointment in the area when my stomach rumbled. Seeing I was in the Broad Ripple area, my thoughts immediately went to milk tea with boba which then lead to Youmi. I bee-lined my way to the establishment and entered. It was absolutely empty, but I didn't mind since it was a Wednesday afternoon. The sweet smell of crepes filled my nostrils and my taste buds danced in anticipation. I approached the counterto order a nutella custard strawberry hot crepe and traditional milk tea with boba. No sooner did these words leave my mouth when the darkness fell. Apparently they were out of traditional boba because the previous shift failed to make it. I was in shock. They had been open for 1.5 hours and didn't think to make more boba????? The guy behind the counter said it would be at least 30 minutes before the boba was done. I'm a patient person, but that is a stretch. My mind spun. The guy pointed out that they had popping boba and rainbow jelly instead. I am not a big fan of popping boba in drinks, only in fro-yo, so that was out. I hadn't had the rainbow jelly before so the guy gave me a sample. It had a similar texture to boba, but had a faint fruit taste to it. He recommended it to be the best alternative to boba for my drink. Taking his "expert" advice, I agreed to the switch. My order was completed quickly and the crepe smelled amazing when it came out. I received my tea shortly after and left, having to do more errands that afternoon. When I got back to my car, I tasted the tea and almost felt sick. There was definitely something off about it. I couldn't tell if it was the tea itself or the rainbow jellies. It was off-putting and truly discouraged further drinking. I did give it a few more sips to confirm the tears my taste buds shed. At this point in time, it was pouring outside so I did not wish to sprint back to the shop. The only redeeming element of the visit was the crepe. It was made well and certainly hit the spot. Unfortunately after that terrible milk tea, I don't think I will be back. I will stick with Yoya on 86th street instead. Save your taste-buds!

This was a fun stop along the quaint walk along Broad Ripple Ave. A small shoo with a wide variety of teas and smoothies and crepe desserts filled fruit and ice cream of choice! The passion fruit smoothie we bought had a wonderful flavor with perfect taste of tapioca and the Taro tea had a smooth taste of Taro! The crepe dessert had ample amount of freshly cut fruits along with my choice of ice cream to accompany the fruit. Luckily, it all sits in a cone-shaped plastic bag as the crepe got soft and soggy by the time i reached the bottom and it started dripping. Overall, the visit was fun as we sat and ate while.reading the graffiti on the walls, written by previous visitors over the years. The service was frie fly and quick, or at least as quick as the crepe takes to cook. Come and have a fun taste of bubble tea just off the beaten path of the Monon Trail!!

Or maybe a slice of toast with avocado and smoked salmon on it (they have that, too). You can get breakfast foods here that are nutritious and delicious. But I was here for lunch. And I felt like I needed to replenish my vitamin K reserves, so I got the sesame kale salad, which is kale, thinly sliced radish, red onion, cilantro, jalapeño slices, a sunflower and sesame seed crumble, and a sesame-ginger vinaigrette. It was delicious! You can add an egg or chicken or salmon, but I don't think it needs any of those. If I had to do it all again, I'd ask for light dressing, because they were a little heavy-handed with the dressing on this salad. Isn't that always the way?! Restaurants need to cool it with the dressing, in my opinion. To be honest, the booze situation at Rize is a little anemic, but I don't think Rize is really the place to order anything alcoholic beyond a mimosa or bloody Mary. I got a screwdriver: freshly squeezed orange juice and vodka, and I'm still wondering where the vodka went. It did not visit my screwdriver, I tell you what. The seating inside Rize feels like it's at a premium, because depending on when you visit, there is very little of it. When I visited, almost every table was occupied, and the place was echoing with conversation. I chose to sit outside, which I'd recommend, if you can! It's so nice to sit and eat a good meal outdoors. How many times do we get to eat outdoors in Indiana? Just go outside, if you can.

While picking up an order recently, I had the most amazing conversation with one of the associates. You know how sometimes a quick interaction can completely shift your day? It felt like such a small but meaningful connection. As we finalized the order exchange, she generously handed me one of their healthy juices! However the last three visits I have had three different dishes (including ones I had order previously) and all three have tasted like cooking oil. Today I had the caprese toast. I decided to add salmon for added protein. Ya'll, when you see the word 'caprese', you think fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and basil, right? Not cooked, right? Well every item except some mint was cooked. Mushy apples, mushy tomatoes.... coated in a fowl smelling oil. The mushy-ness of it all got to the bread underneath. Then the salmon on top.... it was salmon but it was very, very smoky and it was shredded to appear like.... hate to say it.... cat food. Cat food instantly popped in my mind when I saw my plate. The item I used to love the sweet potato hash but it now has the same problem as the caprese toast. No flavor except that of cooking oil. I also ordered a kids plate with scrambled eggs. Eggs arrived with obvious signs of being over cooked with brown burn marks. Fine for a fried rice at a Chinese restaurant, maybe. But really? This is a brunch place that is supposedly 'health minded'. Eggs shouldn't be dry. I'm sure they also tasted like cooking oil but I didn't try them. I agree with another reviewer that the descriptions of dishes could be better. A cooked caprese??? I wouldn't have ordered it. Two stars are only beause the service here is decent.
