I worked in the Information Center (IC). I barely learned anything about social work. Making phone calls and providing people resources for shelter is the ONLY thing I learned. I spent all of my time in the IC giving clients their mail, badges, unclogging toilets, toilet paper, baby products, hair care products, cleaning products, and over the counter meds which has nothing to do with social work. My field supervisor (Brandy) told me and my field liaison that I was going to learn about intakes in March, and then she turned around and said that I will be learning about intakes starting in June. My field supervisor terminated me in April and claimed that I was not upbeat, had poor social skills, and depressed. I regret discussing my depression and what I was going through at home to employees, and I had no idea that you could get terminated for that. But see, I never worked before, and so I am new to the workplace. I regret telling people who I don't know about my personal life, and oftentimes, I have a habit of ranting and getting things off of my chest, but I still believe that I shouldn't have gotten fired over that. It's whatever, I guess! My positive attitude and work ethic are what matters. I also noticed that I was the only social work intern who did not get a chance to learn about case management, and I believe it's due to the fact that I am Black. One of the directors (Misty) said that I looked depressing and intimidating. I should have reported her for saying that to me because her comment about me was very disrespectful and bigoted. Employees and interns in the IC should NOT be handling client's prescribed medications. Samaritan Inn needs to be reported! I was kind, respectful, and worked hard. I worked so hard there for no pay, and what did I get? Nothing, but a stupid thank you card in the mail. Ridiculous! Please DO NOT come to this place. You'll definitely regret it.

Reached out to them in desperation as I was living in my car and they reached out next morning asap eager to provide any assistance they could. I had been calling 20-30 homeless shelters and organizations a day trying to seek immediate shelter, and this ranch is the only place that stepped up to take me in . The owners are generous beyond words, just unconditional love and support every step of the way. Their cause is noble, their hearts are boundless, and they truly live by example. Could gush over them for days for all the help they've given me. Amazing housing accommodations- literally fully stocked cottage with the most tasteful decor and well thought out necessities already provided. If something wasn't there, they were eager to provide it asap. The farm is just adorable; all the animals are well taken care of and are such a pleasure to visit. It's quiet, comfortable, peaceful, and you can tell how much care was poured into putting these places together. Just all the little touches they've added. There's a full-sized oven/stove, refrigerator and freezer, microwave, washer and dryer provided, a place to shower, storage embedded for me to squirrel away belongings as needed, too lol. Roku TV was installed in my current unit today. Free and good Wi-Fi. Keurig for coffee. Even a water purifier! O_O Seriously what homeless shelter does that?? None. None I tell you. I've been there, lived in a shelter for 6 months, and this ranch blows every other place out of the water. We learned that Hugs Cafe is a nonprofit that employs adults with disabilities, which made us want to support them even more. We had the Reuben, the Peach Gobbler, and the potato salad and everything was absolutely amazing. The jams used on the sandwiches were so unique and sweet, and they paired extremely well with the meat on each sandwich. Every bite was flavorful and clearly made with care. The potato salad was also delicious and the perfect side to our meal. Beyond the incredible food, the service was warm and welcoming, and you could truly feel the heart behind this place. If you're in the area, this is definitely a spot worth visiting as it has great food and an even greater purpose behind it!

By the pure grace of the sweet Lord above, I was introduced to Emily's Place - at which my son and I are blessed beyond measure's to now be current residents of this AMAZING PROGRAM - I'm not going to lie, I was aprehencable because of the long-term commitment & because of past reviews I had read online, but realistically - I was broken hearted and afraid, and my options were NO BETTER than my fear itself.... After…read morecarefulll consideration Something in my heart compelled me to write about my experience as it could possible help another young women and children. About 3 weeks ago me and my 2 YO son was exited from the program after a a month stay (which I was more than happy to do) Although the facility is nice it's definitely not for any domestic violence victims And I strongly urge you to stay far away. Not only is the staff aggressive and tempromental but extremely controlling. Controlling over your whereabouts every second of the day, Every dime you make, what you can spend (if they allow it) where you can go, where you can work, where your kids go to school ect. The manipulation and re victimizing is completely beyond me. I was mortified when I found out they kept tabs and cameras on when I was eating and if I "ate too late" or if I didn't do something according to detailed description. I honestly feel this place should be shut down because the way its being ran is ineffective. And in the beginning they give women a false sense of security to make things look good for the donors, it's completely sad... . My lawyer was completed to sue but due to clause in the agreement you have to sign, it would be difficult.... Just do yourself a favor stay on the street or stay away.I fell bad for anyone who comes in contact with the current staff and I feel horrible for the founder who I'm sure started this non profit in "good faith"
