The staff was great. The environment was great everybody that we painted with was super friendly. I definitely recommended for anyone who is doing a date night or a birthday celebration.

I attended Painting with a Twist as part of a private group. it was fun to see how many versions of one painting could be created. this could spur a novice to begin a new creative path. The teacher was excellent and, if I may say so, kind to those of us who had no idea what they were doing.

I enjoyed it! Ebony and Cody were very kind and funny! They gave nice instructions and were kind about giving tips and answering questions. They made every step idiot proof. Nice vibe, great music. You pretty much make a lovely painting in 2 hours more or less. During painting I was kind of discouraged about how my painting turned out, but looking back at it I'm pretty happy with it since I don't really work with acrylics and prefer watercolors. I thought I was going to go home and fine-tune it, but I think I'll leave it alone. It was a nice experience overall. Definitely recommend if you're feeling creative. Even if you aren't, you'll be pretty proud of yourself afterwards. Even if the painting isn't what you'd expect, you can turn it into whatever you want!

We had so much fun with Cody in the paint your pet class this weekend. He was encouraging, and we kept painting till the paintings turned out like our pets! So much fun. Next time i bring my sister and husband!!!

My niece (11yrs) and I did the "pop in and paint" DYI experience! They gave us all the materials and instructions. It was different than the normal classes but really fun! We had a good time as we painted the heart tree! We definitely are not the best artist but we did our best and had fun doing it! The staff is friendly and helped when we got a bit confused! My niece and I recommend!

I love going to this place!! It's such a fun date night or going my mom and tias and little Cousin when it's a kids painting and all the painting are always so creative and they help so much with each step. The teachers are so funny and always leave with good experience

Painting with a twist is one of my favorite things to go do with my best friend for a fun girls night out! We love to stop and get some nice snacks a bottle of wine and join a class here. Both of the painting instructor Ebony & Cody have awesome vibes and both very helpful while making the class fun! Don't worry if you don't know how to paint or never painted before, by the time you leave here you with your masterpiece you will feel like a new found artist. Just relax, sip, snack, paint & have some fun: after all that is what this is all about just relaxing and having fun! Sometimes when my best friend can't go with me I even join a class and go alone: but I am never alone cus there is always a great bunch of people there and someone yo chat with. If your looking for a fun girls night out or a couples night out then find an event and book it and go paint and relax. It's definitely a lot of fun!

The Dude led an enjoyable evening painting and playing trivia games. We had a blast! It was "oversold" and a bit too close for comfort, so think twice if you're booking a Star Wars or other mainstream theme. I'd do it again, though. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Even though I was sitting in the back, I could watch the leader on tv. If I do it again, I will show up early and try to secure seat near the teacher.

Definitely come to PWAT McKinney! The Dude is such a great entertainer and teacher! We have been so many times and we only come to the classes Cody is instructing because he's amazing. All the other teachers are great as well but we are particular to Cody. Book a painting. You won't regret it!

I came here for a mothers and daughters Girl Scout event that my friend invited me to and had a great time. Snacks, wine and drinks were allowed, and both the grown ups and kids had a blast following along with the instructor (Cody, a.k.a., Dude or the more formal Mr. Dude) as he walked us through on how to paint a neon butterfly. Fun and relaxing atmosphere, the girls were singing along to all the songs, and the moms chatted along and tried to help but not get in the way of the girls' creative process. Hair dryers were provided on site to help speed up the paint drying process; the bathrooms were clean; and although this is a smaller PWAT location, it was easy to move around. Definitely coming back here on one of my next return visits to Dallas :)

Ashley's patience actually got beautiful art out of me! My friends and I had a lot of fun. You sign up and pay online then show up with snacks. All supplies are provided and you're guided through every step until you've created a brag piece to hang on your wall. It's not serious, it's fun. Ashley kept saying there are no mistakes. My friends and I made lots of mistakes! She just came over and told us how to alter them and, in the end, we all loved our paintings. You can book private parties if you want to choose a painting that is not already on the online calendar. There is a minimum commitment though and if you don't get enough people, you are still responsible for the additional costs. They have over 4,000 paintings in their database so they will email you a link then allow you to choose from those. You'll then be given a pass code to give to your friends so that they can go online and pay to join the class. If you really feel the need to have a painting designed just for you, you may call and talk to the artists at the shop and, for an additional fee, I'm told they'll create one! I definitely recommend Painting With a Twist for solo outings or groups. If you go alone, there are always friendly people to chat with. The cost is $35 for a 2 hour painting and $45 for a 3 hour (more advanced) painting. There is a punch card (I love punch cards!) and at the end they'll give you 2 punches if you check in with Facebook I got 2 for checking in on Yelp.

Final products that we took home. Fun night!

Below is a recommendation letter I wrote for the organization for a fund raising application that sums up why the residents of McKinney Texas with young children who love art should check out YOUNG AT ART CHILDREN'S CREATIVE CENTER (www.youngatartmckinney.org). Young at Art provides a very nurturing environment for artisitc experimentation and development. They provide access to various mediums and techniques that go beyond the simple art projects typically found in a children's art class. The staff at the center are very encouraging and caring and help children experiment beyond standard techniques and styles. Additionally, their philosophy and teaching practices encourage the children to participate in their commnity by hosting events that allow the children to participate in the local OB Christmas Parade and in art projets that become part of the community such as window murals and the mural at the OB Gas Station. The art school is a very special place for the students where they can feel at home and accepted, but get to make messes and create masterpieces. I believe that all children benefit from exposure to creating and experiencing art. With the reduction of art classes in public schools, outside community art schools provide an opportunity for children to experience the creativity and joy of art. Young at Art provides this opportunity to the local children of Ocean Beach and Point Loma. They offer scholarships for students who are unable to afford the cost of classes and bring together groups of children who might not otherwise interact. The staff at the school fosters caring and consideration of each child toward their classmates and encourages collaboration amoung the students. If you have a young child who would benefit from attending an art class or camp you should call and talk to Miss Kim the director! I'm sure you will be glad you did.
