My sister Christina took me here for my birthday. I've never really painted anything before. Our coach, Cody, helped with everything that we needed to be successful with our paintings. It was such a great experience. There's different paintings on different days, but the day we went it was to paint your own personal pet. And we would just send the picture over to them, and then when we got there, each of our pictures were sketched out somewhat so we can start the painting process. I highly recommend it. I enjoyed it! Ebony and Cody were very kind and funny! They gave nice instructions and were kind about giving tips and answering questions. They made every step idiot proof. Nice vibe, great music. You pretty much make a lovely painting in 2 hours more or less. During painting I was kind of discouraged about how my painting turned out, but looking back at it I'm pretty happy with it since I don't really work with acrylics and prefer watercolors. I thought I was going to go home and fine-tune it, but I think I'll leave it alone. It was a nice experience overall. Definitely recommend if you're feeling creative. I decided to plan a girls night at this location and overall the painting experience was good and the painting instructor was amazing! So fun. What was very uncomfortable was the (possibly manager not sure) man that came into the room and proceeded to talk about politics in relation to a comedy skit (about Trump specifically) and said "trump can lick my ta*nt." I was applauded not only by the crude language but also discussing politics with customers, no matter your views this is so inappropriate. This ruined my view of this specific location (and their business as a whole) and brought a sense of uncomfortably to the entire experience. It was "oversold" and a bit too close for comfort, so think twice if you're booking a Star Wars or other mainstream theme. I'd do it again, though. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I came here for a mothers and daughters Girl Scout event that my friend invited me to and had a great time. Snacks, wine and drinks were allowed, and both the grown ups and kids had a blast following along with the instructor (Cody, a.k.a., Dude or the more formal Mr. Dude) as he walked us through on how to paint a neon butterfly. Fun and relaxing atmosphere, the girls were singing along to all the songs, and the moms chatted along and tried to help but not get in the way of the girls' creative process. Hair dryers were provided on site to help speed up the paint drying process; the bathrooms were clean; and although this is a smaller PWAT location, it was easy to move around. Definitely coming back here on one of my next return visits to Dallas :) read more

So, I was one of the people in the world who heard of this and thought that there was no way I would enjoy it because I am SO terrible at art (drawing/painting/etc). However when my mom's night out group scheduled a night here I figured since wine would be involved (because I was bringing it, this place is BYOB) and many of my favorite ladies would be there, I'd at least enjoy that aspect. Seriously? This is awesome! No matter how bad you are at painting the teacher takes everything step by step, they pre-portion out the colors you need and the brushes you need. Yes, your painting isn't going to look like a perfect replica, but it's going to look close enough and you'll have the great memories. All of the people here were so nice, the owner is VERY supportive of local organizations, and you will have a blast! Ashley's patience actually got beautiful art out of me! My friends and I had a lot of fun. You sign up and pay online then show up with snacks. All supplies are provided and you're guided through every step until you've created a brag piece to hang on your wall. It's not serious, it's fun. Ashley kept saying there are no mistakes. My friends and I made lots of mistakes! She just came over and told us how to alter them and, in the end, we all loved our paintings. You can book private parties if you want to choose a painting that is not already on the online calendar. There is a minimum commitment though and if you don't get enough people, you are still responsible for the additional costs. They have over 4,000 paintings in their database so they will email you a link then allow you to choose from those. You'll then be given a pass code to give to your friends so that they can go online and pay to join the class. If you really feel the need to have a painting designed just for you, you may call and talk to the artists at the shop and, for an additional fee, I'm told they'll create one! I definitely recommend Painting With a Twist for solo outings or groups. If you go alone, there are always friendly people to chat with. The cost is $35 for a 2 hour painting and $45 for a 3 hour (more advanced) painting. There is a punch card (I love punch cards!) and at the end they'll give you 2 punches if you check in with Facebook I got 2 for checking in on Yelp. read more

Went there on 3/24/17 with hubby for first time. It was a fantastic experience. You can bring snacks to munch on and your favorite beverage of choice. :-) They provide cups, plates, napkins & plastic utensils as needed. Our teacher Samantha was wonderful and encouraging. Floor artist helper Riley was wonderful as well. They both helped us through any questions and the directions were easy to follow. I encourage folks to open an account while making reservations to get points on the account. Points can be redeemed for$$$ off at future reservations, once certain level is reached. This might just be my absolute favorite studio! My best friends and I frequent many locations throughout the year depending on the paintings and of course our schedules. There is definitely a fun and carefree vibe at this studio. The instructors are not only knowledgeable and talented, but also entertaining and lighthearted. Upon arrival you are greeted instantly and guided to your canvas. At this time you can get settled in, browse some of the other pieces displayed on the walls, and start enjoying any snacks and beverages you brought along for the experience. Riley was our instructor and you can definitely tell she enjoys what she does! She went through all the materials and then we got down to work. Riley was helpful and encouraging throughout the process. She also kept conversations flowing making for an enjoyable experience with the other artists as well. Additionally, I loved the playlist Riley used over the loud speakers - definitely adds to the vibe. I've noticed at other locations it can be more quiet with the focus more on the product than the process and experience. This was also my first visit at a studio that took a picture of the group at the end and offered to take a picture of my friends and I when we finished. Such a fun night!!! I went with two other friends and we had a great time. I thought for sure I'd screw up any painting, I don't have a talent for painting...at ALL. But they made this so easy for anyone to follow, even me! Jordan was our instructor and she was AWESOME! Very helpful, encouraging and super nice! This place IS open now!! Ive gone twice now and I LOVE it! The teachers are great and the crowd here is SO friendly. By the end of the class you can call any of your class mates friend. Don't be afraid to come alone! Allot of people do! Just come ready to be social and a bottle of wine wouldn't hurt or any kind of snack. This is a great place for a date or a girls night out. They have summer kids classes for 20.00 and for the older well behaved kids (so around 9 yrs and up) you drop off, come back 2 hrs later and BAM! I have been trying for almost a week to get in contact with somebody at this place to schedule a bachelorette party. Last week, I submitted two online party requests, and nobody responded. I also called several times. Nobody ever answered. While there is an option to leave a voicemail, over the course of a week, their voicemail has been full every time, so it won't accept my voicemail. I finally sent in an email this weekend, and on Tuesday, a very nice girl called me. She told me they never received any of my online submissions, and suggested that I was probably submitting to a location other than McKinney. I checked my browser history and I haven't been to any of the other Painting With a Twist location websites, so that's not possible. Based on their unwillingness to respond to requests via phone and email, I have a feeling they did receive my party requests, and just didn't answer. Unfortunately, the one time I got someone on the phone, I had to cut off my call with her early, because an emergency call from my husband came through. I told her I'd call her back. I have called her back 4 or 5 times now, and no response. She called from a different number than the studio, so I did leave voicemails. I have also tried to call the studio 5 more times today, over the course of about 5 hours, and nobody has answered or returned my calls (of course I haven't left a voicemail there because the box is full). I've also sent another email today, no response. I wish I could give a review of the actual class, because this looks like a lot of fun. But since they don't seem to want to book my party, I guess I'll never know! read more
