As a new mom I really leaned on their expertise to help guide schedules, potty training, learning solids. They really did much more than just watch my kids, they taught me as well. They have very routine days which I think really helped my 2.5 y.o. thrive. They set very basic "rules" for the kids to follow that are achievable like making the kids change to indoor shoes as they enter the classroom. They empower the kids to do things on their own and talk to them with respect. We miss the extra curricular programs a lot. They brought in weekly music and yoga teachers from outside providers. I also miss that they took the kids on walks every day instead of just a playground associated to the center. I think this really helped my little get comfortable on city street and learn to stay close to us, hold our hand at cross walks, etc. I found this center very consistent and believe that has a lot of impact on developing young minds. At the interview Shun was extremely professional and personable at the same time. This brought about a ton of comfort. She was very clear about her expectations and her policies while also being understanding that we are human beings and may need help. She was clear about the importance of communication. She talked about how she would communicate with us (good and bad) and how she expected us to be honest and communicate with her. Raising kids together is not an easy task but it also doesn't have to be difficult (communication is key). Shun is always on time... not 1 minute late and she talked about the importance of time. We respect this value and try our best to honor It. If or when late, we simply communicate and accept what is already outlined in the policy. This is not unusual as all daycares have policies about pick-up and drop off times. I had such an incredible interview experience, I brought my husband back with me another time. He loved the daycare!!! I came back again to sit in on activities and Shun and Erica were extremely accommodating. We decided to ask to bring our then, 3 year old to ABC as well because the curriculum was stellar. Shun expressed how she aims for her kids to be above the curve. They get homework!!! Education and good starts is extremely important to us. My son has learned to spell his name (Titanium), he has learned about stranger danger, he has learned phonics and reads from memory. He is leaning sight words. His handwriting is amazing! He learns about different historical figures and so much more. He loves being able to show Shun how well he has done his homework. My now, 15 month old, the one that was there at 3 months when we first enrolled him, learned everything there. His gross and fine motor skills developed much quicker than my first, he stopped using the bottle faster. He just seems much more aware than Ti was at his age. He got baby massages!!! Shun knows what they should be doing at different stages and helps push us parents into pushing our kids to be the best they can be. Shun and Erica are both a part of this well oiled machine and my family will be forever grateful for our families becoming one and working together to raise amazing children.
