My little one attended Young People's Village, and I can't say enough wonderful things about the experience. From day one, we felt welcomed, supported, and genuinely cared for. Young people's village is one of the best Pre-School in town. My son's teacher Ms Natalie and Ms Eileen are wonderful preschool teachers. He loves them a lot. He did not cry not even since day 1 and her teacher Ms Natalie potty trained him in just 1 week. Amazing!!!! School has lots of hand on activities which is a big big plus. They also have super huge playground and I feel like that's like Disneyland for my son already lol. My son did learn a lot as well. Overall , highly recommended! read more

Both my girls went to YPV since they were 2 so I highly recommend this place. For starters, YPV has very flexible drop off and pick up times. Their playground is open for play until 5:15pm so I often pick up my kids early so that they can play outside with other kids for an hour until closing. This is something YPV offers that most schools definitely do not and it's great because I've built great rapports with parents and teachers after school from this. YPV also provides a calendar every first of the month on what they provide for lunch. It's not gluten-free, healthy eating but it's never the same. I know certain schools do not offer the variety like what YPV does so this is something to consider if you want to introduce something new to your kid's lunch. They also offer snacks two times a day. As for care, YPV provides the right amount of academic and emotional care. My youngest was a Covid baby so I wanted to make sure she adapted to a new environment quickly but smoothly. Ms Nathalie understood my concern and provided the right amount of nurture and care so that my girl was able to make friends quickly at the same time learn to play independently. She also helped with potty training. Yay! My oldest on the other hand is much needier and requires a lot of attention at all times. Ms Ruby was really patient with her, understood my girls needs very well and provided me with weekly (sometime daily!) report on her progress either in person or by text. And her holiday memorabilias to the parents are the best! Ms Debbie is another teacher who I highly, highly recommend. I read the other review about her from LingL and found it real unfortunate on how one can pass such a negative judgement on another so quickly over 1 meeting. Ms Debbie in fact is an amazing teacher! One of the many examples I can give is that she would sometime use her break to patiently read to my girl or ask questions on how her day is going to improve her speech. She always pushed my girl to do better by providing positive feedbacks and by always using encouraging words. Despite my girls trials and tantrums, Ms Debbie has never said anything negative. She also gives out homework every week and provides a detailed quarterly progress report. You can tell that she puts in a lot of time and effort in her teaching. I know all kids are different and parents have different expectations so I highly encourage you to speak to Ms Gracie or Ms Anna. My kids got to know the other teachers as well, such as Ms Melissa, Ms Josie, Ms Jessica, Ms Silvia and so forth and they are all real nice and friendly. I can only write so much here. I only have good things to say about YPV. My daughter adores her teacher, Ms. Carolina. She was patient and always consoled and comforted her when she got emotional especially in the beginning of the year since it was her first time attending daycare/school. It was such a positive experience for her. I watched her blossom from a shy little girl to a confident big kid. I couldn't get her to do anything academic at home, but once she started at YPV, she was counting, learning her ABCs, coloring so much better, cutting better, and tracing. I believe she's on track and ready for her next adventure in kindergarten. My daughter only has good things to say about Ms. Carolina. She really is the sweetest teacher and always encouraged the kids to do their best. Ms. Gracie and the staff are super helpful and always answered our questions and concerns. The teachers at Young People's Village are really warm and attentive to the children who attend here. My child attended starting at age 2 and was very well supported throughout his transition. The potty training is consistent without being harsh, and the quality of the childcare and meals are excellent with the fair tuition. Some things to note that are not detriments, just details - the log of your child's activities are provided on a paper report at the end of the day, not through an app or electronic log. I found this simple and concise and appreciated not having to make yet another account for something. The teachers always texted photos if I requested any, and sent batches of photos of my child for any special activity. The playground is amazing and very hard to get your child to leave at the end of the day. The directors are responsive by email and phone. We ended up leaving YPV only due to family circumstances; if things had remained the same we would certainly have stayed at such a high value daycare. My daughter has been enjoying the school days. She was shy on her first days, but everything goes well now, she loves the teachers and her friends. She was with Ms. Melissa when she first attended her preschool, and Ms. Ruby was her neighboring class' teacher. Everyone, including Ms. Gracie, Ms. Anna and other school members are very thoughtful. I can see my daughter has improved a lot with her language skills, expressions, and social skills. She's now with Ms. Daisy and will be transferring to Ms. Grace's class in a couple months. Ms. Daisy is helpful and has been supporting all the kids in developing their letter, number, color and shape recognition, math and language skills, etc. My daughter also helps us with light housework, which I believe she has learned from school. My daughter is also excited about moving up to Ms. Grace's class as she is very friendly and does care for the kids. Last but not least, if you are looking for kid activities, I would recommend Young People's Village as there will be lots of fyactivities throughout the year, especially summer! read more

My 4-y/o niece had severe anxiety in the few months she was here and could not control her bladder despite being potty-trained and perfectly fine everywhere else. She even threw up once. Don't know what happened behind closed doors to make her so uncomfortable with her teachers. They would often call mom to pick her up in the middle of the day because the teacher "couldn't handle her". Everytime we went to pick her up, the teachers pushed her over to us as if throwing out the garbage. Grandma felt so bad for her granddaughter that she cried. When we spoke to the teachers and the principal about the issues, they acted like it was the child's fault for having anxiety. Aren't you teachers?? You're supposed to be responsible for her during school hours (mom shouldn't be on call every single day!!) and find teaching methods that work for each student. Children should never be blamed for things like that, as everything they know is from adults around them. Judging from all the good reviews here, I'm sure they have some merits, but it must be a hit or miss. Was a terrible fit for us, and would not recommend this school for a child who may be anxiety-prone, or isn't comfortable using English yet. We LOVE Young People's Village YPV!!! they are the BEST in the city ....been to Ark school and Lily's Garden and not impressed ... staff are extremely caring and diverse ... they have SO MANY activities on campus and off campus field trips for pre-K and kinder kids (Discovery Cube, Zoo, trackless trains, puppet shows, Jump n Jamming, train museum, AMC movie)... both of my kids have attended and my youngest is still attending Pre-K there ...recommended a friend's daughter which started in the baby's class and are extremely satisfied. Plus side is they have an on-site chef staff in the kitchen that makes healthy, fresh food daily (not your microwave school lunches). Take a tour! You will be amazed what a cute school it is! I don't really understand Ling L.s review. In fact it seems quite fishy to me as she conveniently remembers Ms Debbie's name but not the office lady. By the way Ling L., her name is Ms Anna. I have had three kids attend YPV and I have nothing but great reviews for the school. My kids have learned so much over the years and this school definitely prepared them academically for their elementary school. There is a good balance of academics and play. I specifically requested Ms Debbie for my son as I have seen the tremendous growth both academically and developmentally my friend's child has had being in her class. Ling L., I would suggest you don't judge a book by it's cover. This is my son's first school and he was almost 3 years old when he started. The school helped him potty trained in 1.5 weeks which was remarkable. Overall the school has lots of fun activities and my son really enjoyed his time in school. The principal and teachers and great there and so are the facilities. I'm disheartened by the comment left by @Ling L. I am unclear how one can pass judgement on someone upon meeting them for a few minutes during a school tour. Not only that, to publicly naming and shaming someone in a review is both disgraceful and constitutes bullying. It is not fair to form a one-sided perception of someone, that damages their character and potentially impact their career. I do hope Yelp takes appropriate action. At the very least, I hope Young People's Village (YPV) reconsiders its admission guidelines to ensure a safe and supportive environment for its teachers. I happen to know Ms. Debbie very well. She is my son's pre-school teacher for the last 2.5 years. Ms. Debbie has been an absolute blessing in our lives, and her dedication, expertise, and genuine love for teaching have made a remarkable impact on my child's early education. Ms. Debbie possesses a unique talent for connecting with children. Her warm and nurturing nature instantly put my son at ease, making his transition into preschool a smooth and joyful experience. In fact, we had transferred him from a different pre-school because he did not have a pleasant experience with his previous teacher. Ms. Debbie is an outstanding teacher at Young People's Village. In fact, we've decided to transfer my son to another school because Ms.Debbie is not teaching the kindergarten class this upcoming year. This review is long overdue. My daughter has been going to YPV since she was 2 years old. She only had hard time when there was a transition teacher who was terrible, but thank God that teacher is longer there. She always looks forward to school every day which is an ultimate positive thing! Ms Ruby was very patient and caring for all the kids. Because of that, my daughter started to show visible learning progress. Ms Josie was awesome and very strong in academic teaching. My daughter learns lot of words from Ms Josie's class and started to do much better in reading. She now enjoys reading a lot and can read books even in higher grades. In additions, the school has a lot of the activities and afternoon programs such as Chinese and Spanish classes, Keyboard lessons, etc. I have recommended the school to a few friends and will continue recommending YPV for kids 3+ to TK! read more

We have been very pleased with my daughter's stay at Young People's Village. My daughter is with Miss Daisy and Miss Grace. We feel very fortunate that my daughter has them. Miss Daisy is very attentive, communicative, and caring for the kids in her class. She encourages students to express themselves, make friends, and learn new things when having fun. After attending Miss Daisy, we find that my daughter is always happy, confident, and curious to explore new things. Hi, I was referred by my neighbors they speak very highly of the school. So I decided to come and get a tour. The director and assistant in the office were very nice. The office lady took me around to the school, the playground was very nice and most of the staff was pleasant. I have a four year old child so they toured me to a few 4 year old classes. The teacher that they took me to was Ms. Debbie a tall teacher who was not very happy she is teaching 4 year old class. The office lady said she is really good teacher. Well I dont care what she said this teacher was very rude she didnt even smile!! Come on lady you work with kids if you don't like your job please do yourself a favor and find something else. I will not bring my child here especially if my daughter will be with her. I didnt feel welcomed at all, maybe if my child was with a different teacher I would consider. read more

All 3 of my kids have attended YPV and we couldn't be happier with the teachers and staff. YPV is a warm, friendly and caring environment for our babies. The teachers treats my kids like their own. My youngest love her teachers(Ms. Veronica and currently Ms. Grace). Ms. Veronica would tie her hair and would hold her when she was upset. She would play with her and teach her to be independent. We requested Ms. Grace for everyone of our kids because she is awesome! She is so loving, caring and generous. They have become a family to us and we are forever grateful for all they have done. Before getting into details my little one has always been a happy baby and warm up easily with others quick. I took my little one to this school but it didn't work out for us and here's why: My little one went to this school at the age of 27 months and after 6 weeks I immediately removed him out due to some red flags I've seen. There's multiple occasions and finally i made my decision after seeing one of the teacher being rough and mean to my 27 month old baby. For the 6 weeks he's been attending there he would cry every morning before going to school and throw up once he gets to school due to anxiety and have night terrors. At first I was told by the director there, it's normal and it'll take time for him to get used to it. It breaks by heart when my little one would say mommy (baby scared) (baby no school) (no no teacher) and would have night terrors most of the night. At first I thought it was normal and it'll get better but it didn't. 1st) red flag the teacher don't wash the kids hands after potty, they get placed sitting on the restroom floor after they potty GROSS!!!!!?? 2nd) red flag I walked in around 1:30p one day and they didn't know I was just standing there listening and just observing, I heard the director while helping one crying kid changing his clothes he was naked sitting on the floor crying which to mention the floor is dirty, the director would say to the kid (why are you always crying? Your always crying, you cry so much) to me in my opinion that's a red flag even though its not towards my kid. You do not talk to kids like that especially your suppose to be a nuturing school, these are only 2-3years old how is that making it better? And This is from the director?!?!!!.....Once the teacher and director saw me, her tone quickly change towards the crying kid. And 3rd) red flag when i decided to withdraw my baby is when I dropped off my son late around 9a and I was observing through the directors window as she stepped out, I saw one of the teacher there scolding my little one telling him to (stop crying) pointing her finger down towards him while he's looking up towards her- is that how they calm kids?! Is this how they treat kids when parents are not there?? that broke my heart regardless of the reason, teacher should be nuturing and gentle towards 2-3yrs old. After he stopped crying she grabbed him a little more rough like she's frustrated with him and placed him on the chair a little rougher then my comfort. I can see and hear everything through the window. Once the teacher saw that I was watching, her TONE and gesture completely changed right away. After he came home I took him to potty as usual and noticed a long red 3inches scratch on his thigh, I asked him what happened there baby? He said (teacher, teacher) so the next day I called the school bringing up all my concerns and told them it's not working out for us and I no longer feel comfortable sending my son to this school since there is no longer trust there. The director said they're sorry that MY SON is not adjusting well and they felt that they weren't out of line and the scratch was probably my son scratched himself while playing AND they feel like my son is just not ready for school yet........like seriously? .......soo now appranetly it's my son's problem. Also to mention attending this school from April-May my son has gotten sick almost every week, he would get better and he'll get sick again so I definitely question their sick policy there and their school sanitary. (Not washing the kids hands after potty, seeing other sick kids there coughing with phlegm, sitting on the restroom floor) no wonder why my son constantly getting sick there. After a month break, I took my son to Arcadia Montessori and on his 3rd day he was already telling me during drop off (bye bye mommy see you later) he loves all his teachers and every morning he's happy going to school with a big smile and excited to go to School even after a weekend or a long weekend holiday. NO more night terrors NO more anxiety-throw-up and haven't gotten sick once or skipped a day of school since we started. I asked him, if he likes school/ teachers he'll tell me YES with a big smile! (Baby like school) That alone tells me a lot just after 3 days vs 6 weeks and the difference between the schools/teacher yes given the price is almost double but it's worth every penny. Even the new school teachers and the director would comment (your son always so happy and every morning show up with a big smile) So YES I agree with this school, it's just not the right fit for him and he's not ready for YOUR school. read more

The teachers' quality varies here. Unfortunately our teacher wasn't the type we like. The ratio is 1:12 and the teacher took care all sorts of things, like snack time, lunch time, teaching, and communicating with parents. Our teacher always sat on a chair and not very active and energetic. I didn't feel like she welcomed my kid to her class in the morning. She didn't give me enough help when my 4 year old was crying at drop off. Sometimes she even didn't take them to play outside so I had to let my kid play in the playground for 20 mins after picking up. She put a lot of emphasis on academics. I guess some of the parents might like it but she's not my favorite type of teacher. My kid was scared of going to school. She even liked the floating teachers much more than her main teacher. After spending almost a month here, we decided to switch to another school and we're glad she likes it. read more

YPV has been an integral part of my child's development and growth. Ever since Ms. Gracie became the principal, the summer programs as well as overall curriculum has improved significantly. Summer camp has been amazing where each week is filled with different themed activities, shows and field trips to keep my little one engaged. I have had two children go through this program and both have developed and excelled in both social and academic abilities. My 5 year old can read at 2nd grade level and has pretty good penmanship and coloring skills. Unlike many schools, the teachers are very loving and willing to lean in and give the new kids extra attention to help with a smooth transition. It has been such an exceptional learning environment for my daughter.  The school could not have been more warm or nurturing and it strikes just the right balance between skill-based and play-based activities. Everyone, from the teachers to the staff is excellent. The parent community is incredibly friendly, kind and down to earth. Honestly, the school feels more like an extended family to us rather than just a mere school. The school teaches the kids to be independent, confident, thoughtful and kind. The teachers are GREAT! however in order to notice this you have to try to get pass the moods and attitudes and disconnect of the administrators, The director Annette is very moody. Smetimes she is friendly and bubbly and other times she does not even speak. Ms. Samantha, is understanding at times (I dont know what role she plays) however, she acts like she does not understand english too well when you need her to. YPV is one of the most inexpensive schoolsI found in the Pasadena/Rosemead area. I love the playground, the activities, the field trips oh yeah and did I say the teachers are awesome. This may seem a little racist to some, however, the school does not have enough diversity, it comes with the territory, so if you are African American, or even hispanic do not look for playdates because they will never come about. The school is primarily Asian background, which forces the teachers to dedicate a lot of time to teaching. I personally liked this very much my daughter learned so much when she attended this school. However, it was hard to explain why none of her friends could come over to our house and the reason behind that. I made several attempts to make playdates but the parents respectfully blew me off. They raised the price of the tuition for no apparent reason, but even then they still remain inexpensive. When I took my daughter out for the summer they got mad and told me that they would call me when the waiting list started to fill up, they never called, which made her miss her spot. When I tried to put her on the waiting list, they pretty much told me that I had no chance to get her back in the school. When I asked if they could give me her medical form so that I did not have to make another appointment to the Doctor they lost her folder....this is when my attitude about the school changed. I decided to write a review for this place just because I saw it was not praised enough on here... My daughter has been going to YPV since April and it has been an awesome experience...Miss Gracie took care of her as if she was her own and is very good with the beginning kids. She will have your kid potty trained in about a month of so after first enrolling your child there. They provide good food, from Costco Business, because I see their truck delivering to YPV...now if you are a germaphobic, this school is great. They use disposables which puts me at ease because I know everything is clean. I often stop by the school during my break just to spend that little extra time with my daughter since I don't see her enough and they truly serve things from Costco...just the other day they served lasagna from Costco which I love and serve in my own home, and they also serve the Costco Rotisserie Chicken as well. As for the environment, I really like how it is Americanzed. I am Asian myself but I hate those typical Asian run business that tries to save money by cutting corners and I can assure you this place does not do so. I don't know about the other reviews, especially when it referenced to them being fake, but I work down the street and I do surprise visits to my daughter who is in Ms. Nina's class, and there is not anything she is doing, or the other teachers who had my daughter, Miss Gracie or Miss Daisy, that they are not supposed to be doing... As for the donation, a person wrote...I have not donated anything nor have I seen them write anything next to a student's name to indicate amount nor have I been asked to purchase any books... The teachers constantly notifying me through text and sending me pictures of my daughter having fun or if she is having a hard time... YPV is a great place where learning is enjoyable! There are so many reasons that the children are happy there. They have a great amount of outdoor playing area. My son is currently enrolled here and so was my daughter prior to him. I love this school because they are play based and compare better than several other local schools which are overly fixated on academics, to the detriment of fostering healthy fun environment. This does not mean the teachers slack on academics though. My daughter did very well academic wise during kinder and first grade. I whole heartedly believe YPV provided her with a strong educational foundation and set her up for success for each follow-on school. After only 3 months I can already see tremendous learning growth in my son. The school itself has a large open and fun playground. They have many school events such as snow days, Dr. Seuss day, magic and puppet shows, and field trips which my kids enjoy very much. The front desk secretary, Ms. Anna is wonderful. She is always there to greet the kids and help the parents in any way with a warm smile. I also feel comfortable with the safety and security of the kids, which I think is very important. All of the teachers there are wonderful, but I have to give a special shout out to Ms. Erica, Ms. Nina, and Ms. Grace, all whom have taught my kids. read more

I specifically looked for children's safety, love and care when I went to look for a preschool for my children. After long days and nights of research and numerous school visits, we have chosen Young People's Village (YPV) for our children. YPV's director and teachers are great. The school academic program is very good. My children enjoyed it and they have learned a lot. The school activity programs are amazing. It gives the children the opportunity to learn new things, exposures, and meeting new friends. Ms. Josie is awesome! She communicated very well with the parents. She even took pictures of the children doing activities and sent the pictures to the parents. I thought that was awesome. In sum, YPV is a great preschool. I trust them with my children. read more

My 3 year-old daughter has been attending preschool at YPV since August. It has been a smooth transition from home life to school life for my little one. She knows all the teachers' names and loves to greet Ms. Gracie and Ms. Anna, who work in the administrative office, as she walks into school every morning! The school has a huge playground, and the kids get two 30-minute outside play time during the day. They also get a snack(breakfast) at 9 am, lunch at 11:45 am, and an afternoon snack at 3 pm. Nap time is a couple of hours after lunch. What I love about this school, first of all, is the people who run it! Ms. Gracie and Anna have their doors always open. They will address your concerns and help you in any way they can! I have become great friends with them actually. Last month, they invited me to come talk to the kids about my career during Community week. The second thing I love about this school is that there are always little events they put up for the kids so they can learn about the real-world. For example, they had the police department, and fire department come visit the school and talk to the kids about their work. During the summer, they had a lot of water play, carnival day with fun and games, and puppet shows! They had pony rides, petting zoo, trick-or-treating, and pumpkins in October, a kiddie train ride in November when they were learning about transportation, and Christmas performance in December! Lastly, I love that my child's safety is priority with YPV. The entrance gates require security codes to open, and you must have an approved list of people who can pick up your kid. When we had the solar eclipse, YPV kept the kids indoor so they won't hurt their eyes looking up in the sky. When the weather is too hot, they don't allow kids to play outside. There are always emails about these things so that I am well informed of how my child is being cared for at school. I really love this school, and am happy to see my daughter grow in this nurturing environment. I truly recommend Young People's Village, and will enroll my second daughter when she is of age. read more

I have three kids and they all have attended or currently attending YPV since 2011. The potty training program is excellent and the YPV staff have successfully potty trained all my kids within the first month or two of attending the school. The academic program is great and year round activities keeps my kids engaged. Lunch is included with the tuition, so one less item to worry about, especially for busy parents. The staff is very friendly and always open to address any concerns I may have with the development of my child. Special thanks to Ms Gracie, Ms. Nina, Ms Josie, Ms. Grace, and Ms. Rose for preparing my older kids for public school, where they have excelled. I have referred many family and friends to this school and would definitely recommend to anyone else who is looking for a school where their child can learn and grow in a safe and nurturing environment. read more
