It's under new ownership and has been a hit and miss. Some days the food is just so wrong, just not consistent in flavor, ingredients and even texture. They seem to do a little better with Gyros and Texacalis on Fridays. Service needs a big improvement as well. Gave two stars cuz zi could not give 2.5. read more

We stop whenever we are near Kingsville. Food is always tasty and well prepared. Wife loves the Patooties, which are baked potatoes topped as you like and with imagination. I really love the Hero sandwich. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Staff is always friendly and helpful. read more

The Texacali's are NOT what they used to be. What happened to the hoagie bun? They also need to have someone that speaks proper English so that the orders can be taken correctly. When you ask for Texi Fries and you get a Texacali and fries IS NOT CORRECT. When you ask for a BBQ Patootie, you dont get chopped up breakfast potatoes and brisket. Today was the first time I've been back since COVID. They still don't have indoor dining. My friend told me they were closed permanently. I called and ordered a to go Mexicali. That's when I found out they don't have indoor dining. The sandwich was as good as ever. They do make great pizzas and subs. Old place that has been around for a long time. It must suck to be a college kid in Kingsville and lose one of the go to places. read more

It's been a while since I've been to Young's so thought I would drop in while I was in Kingsville. It's certainly not what it used to be. The Texicali was disappointing. The size was so much smaller, the meat was dry, the bread was not at all fresh. Won't be going back there again. $14 for a tiny sandwich and drink. read more

No amount of interior renovation can save this place. My pizza may have been decent but the hour we waited for our drinks was unacceptable. Then we had to stand in line for 15 minutes up by the bar just to pay the check. I actually enjoyed my pizza and I wanted to enjoy this place so bad but they will be closed y the end of the year if they don't figure out customer service. One of the best places in Kingsville! I have literally been coming here my whole life, over 30 years of amazing food. Doesn't matter what you get, you're gonna love it! My grandparents lived in Pernitas Point on lake Mathis and we stopped here every time we came to visit them from the valley. I recently moved to corpus from Fort Worth and the first place I took my family was Youngs! My name is probably in ten different spots on different walls haha! I understand Young's is in institution in Kingsville, and I'm not sure what happened during the height of Covid, but I'm sorry - Young's isn't what is used to be, if it ever was. I've had two of their sandwiches in the last 3 weeks, and the 2nd was even more disappointing that the first. To start with I had their Steak sandwich: While I'm not one to complain about over-stuffing, this was ridiculous. What wasn't stuck to the outside of the bun when I opened it, spilled out as soon as I picked it up. The steak itself was dry and flavorless. And the bread was damp. After the fiasco with the Steak sandwich I thought I'd give them one more go. So, next was their Turkey sandwich; I figured it is difficult to get this one wrong. Well, I was surprised. The whole sandwich was wet and soggy, dripping with [what I'm guessing] was watered down mayo. The turkey [and the rest of the sandwich] was dry and flavorless, that is aside from the smell of pickles - which was overpowering and came from seemingly everything. I could only bring myself to take 2 bites before throwing the whole mess in the trash. The good news is that the service was great - the people are friendly and nice to deal with. I just wish that could have made up for the poor quality of their sandwiches. Honestly - Subway (gag) is actually better. read more

Super yummy sandwiches. Never had their pizzas, but I am sure they are just as good. The interior is cool. In one room, there is a huge cartoon-ish map of Texas. The walls of the woman's restroom is covered in comic strips. There is also a loft-like seating area, which is pretty neat though you have to go up some pretty narrow stairs. read more

Young's Pizza makes pizza? Apparently, they do. However, I don't know anyone who goes to Young's for the pizza. People go to Young's for the sandwiches, the "patooties," the atmosphere and the nostalgia! Now, I have had some great sandwiches in various sandwich shops throughout America (and even abroad). Young's offers Kingsvillians something that you would normally find in a bigger town or city. Its close proximity to the Texas A&M University-Kingsville campus makes it a great stop when you're a student who is not sure what you want to eat for lunch or dinner. A few years ago, I ran into a former student of Texas A&M-Kingsville in the Silicon Valley of the San Francisco Bay Area who noticed my Javelinas t-shirt. When she learned that I attended college and grad school at TAMUK, she brought up two things -- football and the legendary "Texicali" sandwich from Young's. If you're in Kingsville, you owe it to yourself to visit Young's and order a Texicali. I can only describe it as a South Texas cheesesteak -- with a flare of both California (grilled mushrooms and Monterey-Jack cheese) and Texas (jalepenos, jalepenos, jalepenos!). You'll eventually want to try one of everything. My only criticism is that there isn't much variety in terms of bread and sauce selection for the various sandwiches. I am used to visiting great sandwich shops in the Bay Area that typically offer everything from sesame seed rolls, sour dough, dutch crunch, whole wheat, gluton free, etc... Consequently, a sandwich can taste very different depending upon the bread that it is served within. read more

Horrible experience. Staff was rude. Food was over priced. I ordered a side salad for $5.09 and all it was is a little bit of lettuce and tomatoes. I've never had Young's Pizza but that's ok because the sandwiches there are killer!! They leave me mouthwatering for more ;-P. This is one of those places you get what you pay for so while the price might be a little up there it's worth every penny to me. Love the inside, every person that goes in leaves a piece of them behind adding many signatures and shout outs to others on the walls, tables, etc. (I have wink wink)To me it's a warm cozy atmosphere that has been broken in just right, perfect for tourists, college students and locals alike. However, Young's gave me probably the most substantial meal I had while in Kingsville, TX. While it was simply a crapton of avocado, tomatoes, and onions on a roll - I LOVE AVOCADO. Ordered the large BarBQue sandwich. Great sandwich- 5 stars. Not drowning in sauce, but sauce baked into brisket had great flavor. Bread was soft and fresh. Meat was incredibly full of smoke/flavor, was extremely tender. Pickles included for extra zing. 45 minute wait was a bit excessive- 3 stars. Parking is across the street at El Tapatio (there are signs for Young' Pizza parking). If you use smart phone... gps might direct you to turn just before (and miss it). On our way back home from Rio Grande City we were looking for a spot to stop and eat that wasn't mexicana food since grandma took care of all the mexicana food we wanted on our visit. I looked up this place and we stopped since the had more then just pizza. Although the pizza was good it wasn't the best I've had. The wings are baked which is not a big deal to me but they did taste frozen. The one thing to try is the texacali sandwich that I will recommend. read more
