Lovely tailors and was on the recommended sheet from Anthropologie weddings, but wouldn't recommend for wedding dress besides maybe hemming. My soft cat eye top was taken in and from the front center, which changed the look of the dress and where it sat on my chest. I said it wasn't what we discussed and it changed the dress, and they suggested cutting the cat eye corners. I showed them the picture of how it was before and said to make it just that way and the next week luckily they did--it was back as it was! The hemming was just fine and done well. The bustle loops were made of a material that was like a very thin clear fishing line. I was a bit nervous about how it would hold up but I trusted it since I'm no expert. Sadly 1 of 3 bustle loops snapped before walking into the reception and a second bustle loop snapped 10 minutes into dancing. It looks so weird in pictures but it was game time and we couldn't grab a pin. It was a heavy ballgown with a cathedral train and multiple layers. Because it was just so heavy and impossible to hold up, I had to put on my outfit from the rehearsal 30 min into dancing. Luckily I had it with me, but I was so bummed because I wanted to wear it for at least half of the reception dancing! I'd come here for other tailoring because they're quick and reasonable pricing, but not for wedding dresses. read more

I got two maxi dresses hemmed here and was very pleased. They were very efficient and I felt comfortable telling them exactly what I wanted. They have a cool marking tool that goes around you and creates a chalk (?) mark around the dress so it's even all the way! It's a small store and not fancy, but who cares when you're in and out in 10 minutes? I was actually able to stop by during my work lunch hour. The hemming prices weren't cheap, but I'm by no means an expert on alteration prices, and one of my dresses had layers. I will definitely be back to get some other alterations done. read more

***ATTENTION: I am writing this review for people who take their alterations seriously and who take the time to look into finding a tailor that is right for them. For context, I am a young male professional. I am a bit conflicted on this review and rating. First, the staff at Young's are very friendly, professional, and approachable. Second, they work quickly - which could be a detriment - but , even if there are people in front of you, you won't be waiting too long which is nice. The experience is a good one. However, after getting several blazers, pants, and denim altered here, I can only say that the quality of the alterations is inconsistent. For example, I had 2 blazers altered here: one was altered beautifully and fits me like a glove, while the second blazer had the sleeve length taken way too high. Similarly, I had a pair of summer weight jeans not properly hemmed, because the hemming was too bulky and looked out of place with the light jean weight. The latter of these two errors should never occur. * In my opinion, the price of getting your clothing altered here is way too high for such inconsistencies. It should be on point every single time, regardless of price; but the work should be especially consistent, and attentive when the price is high. I did not find this to be the case here. ** For these reasons, I will not be returning. However, I feel strongly that different tailors work well for different people. And I also believe that the folks at Young's are talented. So, if you are looking for a quality tailor, I would suggest trying Young's - it might work out well for you.. read more

I absolutely love them! First of all, they are super friendly and they gave me a reasonable quote for altering my wedding dress. I needed a lot of work done on my dress such as hemming, bustling, lowering the back, and trimming the neckline, which was the most difficult part of all. They gave me an explanation of how they will tackle the job and I left feeling confident and happy. Long story short, I am in love with my dress even more than when I first saw it. I rarely leave a review but I need to share my experience with this business. We decided to elope and I needed to get my wedding dress tailored in a week. I called more than 20 places and they said it is impossible. I called Young's Tailors and they said come any time and they will get it done no matter what before the wedding. She got them done less than 4 days and it was just perfect. The price was so very reasonable and she didn't even charge for the rush fee. It was just a dream. Fabulous service. It has a parking lot so parking isn't an issue as it is with some of the other stores and shops on Church St. Even when she was fitting and helping another customer, the lady acknowledged my presence the moment I walked in and asked if I needed a fitting room. I am a petite young lady and nearly everything has to get tailored. Many of the tailors I have been to would just leave you standing there when they were helping another customer. Not here! Time-wise, they go on your schedule and they have always been ready even if I needed a big tailoring job done and ready for pickup the next day. Cost-wise, it is average. Some jobs I have thought that the quote was a bit too pricey, but for others, they have been a bargain so it really depends on what you're getting done. The quality is superb. I have never had to go back because something fell apart. I have never had any complaints with the outcomes. If you want the job done in a nice, timely manner, but still want quality work, this is the place to go! read more

It tells you something when I'm willing to drive 35-40 minutes out of my way to come here to get my clothes altered. I'm very particular when it comes to altering my clothes... and this place gives me even better results than I had in mind!! She was able to shorten my dress and take in the waist without messing up the shape of the dress!! I had horrible experiences where (especially taking in the waist) tailors would completely mess up the shape of my dresses... but not here!! she will make it better than it originally came in. The woman who greeted me on my first visit was very friendly and took her time measuring me and making sure I was getting what I wanted. My suit was ready the following week and fit like a charm! I continue to go to Young's Tailors even though I just moved a little farther away. I recently bought a new suit and unfortunately the petite sizes fit around my waist but are too short for me. I hate wearing flats with my suits (a girl has got to wear her high heels :-] ) so I decided to see if the hem could be taken down. After I put them on, the woman in the store (Young, perhaps?) suggested she take them all the way down. I just tried them on after picking them up and they are perfect!!! I'm seriously so excited that I can wear this suit with my highest heels. I plan to bring in all my other petite suit pants and get the hem taken down for those too. She charges $15 for this and she is always so sweet and efficient! After I bought the suit at Macy's, I went to the men's suit department to question about their tailoring, and they will take the hem down for $18. I'll take Young's great work for $3 less! Granted, I don't have much experience with more advanced tailoring as I generally just need my pants shortened or lengthened, but at least for those purposes, this place does a great job. read more

Also it is all really well priced. For strap shortening, hem at bottom, hand sewn on beaded belt/sash, and alteration of the cups, it was only $100. Can't believe it! I had two custom made dressed that needed invisible zippers put in - I was very nervous about it since the dresses were very expensive. I went to Young's and admittedly, at first I was worried because there was a significant language barrier as I tried to explain what I needed. She was friendly and patient, and we figured it out and she told me to pick them up in a week. Ms. Young was excellent! I went there to get some jeans tapered and she did an excellent job. I checked the stitching after I received the first batch of jeans from the inside to see if she did it right and it was done really well. After I received an astronomical alterations quote from a local bridal shop, my friend recommended Young's Tailors. I am SO impressed with the work they did on my wedding gown. My dress needed to be taken in several inches in the waist, hemmed, straps shortened, and a bustle added. Not only did they do a beautiful job at everything, they also hemmed it in a way that created a train from my A-line dress, which I loved. The bustle was perfectly done, and stayed in place for the entire reception. Non-chain tailor shop that provides friendly and timely customer service. -SERVICE: I came to Young's to alter my bridesmaid's dress, which was a little too big around the bust (a considerable problem when it's a sleeveless dress that needs to hold itself up). The owner had me put on the dress and recognized what I needed done before I even mentioned it to her. She put in her marking pins after walking me through what she would do, and that was that! It was a quick consultation, but she was friendly and warm throughout the process. I came back just two weeks later to pick up the dress - she had me try it on again to ensure it fit right, and it was perfect. I had been slightly anxious about altering the dress because it was an uncommon problem to fix and I was nervous I wouldn't get the dress in time, but Young's fixed the dress in no time. Young's Tailors is tucked away in a small shopping complex off of busy Church Street. I am a wee person with a big butt, so pretty much everything I purchase off-the-rack needs to be tailored. Young's has done a FABU job each time. I've brought in jeans, suits, dress shirts, and formal-wear to be taken in or up. You name it, she'll tailor it. And, FTW, if something she has hemmed or tailored comes undone for any reason (say, you are a klutz and put the heel of your stiletto through the new hem on a pair of pants) it's all repaired free-of-charge! read more

I stumbled upon Young's after searching for a tailor with good review on Yelp. I needed my bridesmaid dress altered and called Young's to see if she had any availability. She said for me to come in that day (she reserves time slots so you have your privacy). She did such an amazing job and while we were figuring out what needed to be altered, she provided feedback and took the time to test a few different options to see what I felt most comfortable in. My dress needed a ton of alterations and it had layers (length, shoulders brought up, buttons, and clips) and for everything is was $125 which is very affordable for the area and dress altering in general. She gave me a 2 week pick up date (which was also amazing) and I called the day before 2 weeks exactly and she said to come in and pick it up. When I got there and tried it on- it fit perfectly! I dress I had once hated for how it fit now made me feel beautiful! She did such a good job. Please bring your dresses here. She will not disappoint. read more

Meh. Had my wedding dress altered here. It was ok, very reasonably priced, and looked ok in the end, although the lady insisted on flattening the dress to my chest instead of adding padding. The bustle was impossible- basically clear fishing wire that couldn't be seen, with the loops nearly to small to place over the button... It took three bridesmaids 30 minutes to do. I've been a bridesmaid over 10 times, and have done a million eye hooks, but have never seen anything like this. Unfortunately I had pneumonia right before the big day, and didn't manage to take it elsewhere, despite my fears that this was a poor plan. I asked the bridesmaids to just leave the back or cut it off (not joking) because I wanted to enjoy my rooftop cocktail hour, but they spent 30 minutes wanting to help me. I missed most of cocktail hour (and food) because of the ridiculous way the bustle was so poorly done. Then the bustle broke anyways, very shortly thereafter. A single safety pin from my friend's pocket worked better. I'd definitely go here for something simple, but it's a big 'AVOID' for a wedding gown. Plus I missed my who cocktail hour because of it... 30-45 very important minutes of my life I'll never have back. :( read more

I finally decided to get some items altered that had been sitting around my closet, unworn. Specifically, I needed to get 2 pairs of jeans hemmed, a dress taken in, and two new maxi dresses hemmed. I was reluctant to go to any old alterations/dry cleaning place, so checked out yelp for some reviews. I tried Young's because of the good reviews and location (close to my house). I drove over one afternoon, and she had me try everything on and pinned it. I was a little concerned about the jeans because I wanted original hem on both of them, but she said one pair could do regular hem because of the dark color & existing hem style. I decided to trust her and see how everything turned out. About a week later (I wasn't in a rush, so don't know how quickly she would have turned things around if I needed them faster) I picked up my items, I thought the price was good - not cheap or expensive, right in the middle. I was very pleased with how all the alterations turned out - she was right about the pair of jeans not needing original hem (so that saved me some money even) and was amazed with the dress she took in - I wasn't sure it could be salvaged, fit-wise, but now it's like it was made specially for me!
