A true hidden gem in LITH/Algonquin/Huntley on Square Barn. This should be your first stop when you shop. They ladies clothing (everything!), jewelry, shoes, purses...and home: furniture and knick knacks. You want a ski jacket and snow pants? They have them! I found a great deal on both items tonight! Enter in the center and their great employees will greet you with a "Hello" and ask if you need any help. Turn right doe ladies clothing and apparel. I have brought a number of high end items, Johnny Was Top, Eileen Fisher top and pants, Sundance Items, even a pair of Danskos. I dont think they are truthful. My Johnny Was Top and Eileen Fisher were never sold they said. Danskos they donated said they weren't good enough. You drop things off, they don't tell you at the time what they will take and if they don't take it they tell you it was donated. Something is fishy, at least for consigners. I would love to know if anyone else has this problem? read more

I am a seller and not having a great experience. I dropped off some very nice dresses, pants, designer shoes, etc. Just checked today to see if anything had sold and was disappointed that nothing sold. I tried to check if my items were in the store and only found one jacket on display. I consigned some very nice Ugg winter boots that were not on display. I am assuming that they sold. Nice little black dress that I could not find. I think that this consignment is a scam. Will write another review if things change. read more

Your Best Friend's Closet is the only consignment shop I visit. I know that inevitably I'll find a treasure when looking around YBFC. The clothing is always clean, neat and sorted (by color) in a way that makes it easy to shop. Prices, especially when a piece has been there a while, are very, very good. There's a number of promotions, too, throughout the year that offer deeper discounts. The best thing about YBFC is their staff. They're also ways so happy, welcoming and helpful! I have always had a wonderful experience here. While the items can be more pricey than other resale shops, this is a consignment store rather than a regular thrift shop. I consign my clothes here, so I know how high the standards are on what they accept - only the best condition of clothes. It is so refreshing not to be weeding through a thousand "no"s just to find my favorite brand or something that fits...their level of organization makes the store a pleasure to shop in! My friend drags me here every now and then but I am not a fan. Way overstaffed, but it feels like more of a reunion with some of the patrons and staff. I feel like I am intruding on their conversations just by being there. I think the staff works here just for the social hours. The prices on the furniture and home goods are WAY overpriced. Although organized nicely, it's just too overpriced - this is RESALE. The clothing is organized nicely too but still priced too high. Same for purses and shoes. I have seen several items here that I have seen in stores new for a lesser price. I am not sure what "tool" they use to price their items, but it is not quite right. This store is more suited to the seller than the buyer. If you are into Designer bags, you might get a deal here, they do have a large selection, but it won't be a steal. read more

Having a personal shopper is so much fun! The staff was super friendly and helpful. They kept finding new things for me to try on. But they weren't pushy. The clothes were neat and arranged by size and color. It made it so easy to find things I like. We had three kids under 10 with us and they didn't complain, but engaged the children in conversation. I brought in some items to consign (it was my 3rd time selling there) and as I picked up my hangers to pop the shirts on hangers, an employee took my bag outside to the sidewalk and directed me to hang them up outside. Because it was 40 degrees and windy, and because the store was empty on a Tuesday afternoon, I asked if I could hang the items up inside. I was scolded and asked to repeat the rules and asked how long I've been consigning there (not long). I cashed out my balance, took my designer handbags and clothing, and drove to Style Encore in Schaumburg. Not only is their staff professional, they pay you cash on the spot. Tried calling for an afternoon to inquire about selling 2 gowns on consignment. Since I couldn't get through, I thought I'd just bring them in. There I was told "that requires an appointment"! I asked "for 2 dresses?" The greeter said she'd check; woman in rear who was buttoning dresses, said "our policy is that an appointment is required". Then I was told to go stand in line behind customers buying merchandise; after 10 minutes I was told they didn't have any appointments until the first week in December. Bottom line...customer service there was none! Phone message could have indicated appointments required for clothes and none available until December; greeter could have advised me appointment required but none available until December! My time is important and I can't get the time I wasted back, and I won't be going there again! read more

I have been coming to this place for the past 9 years. Started visiting them when they were in a small store and watched them expand gradually. The one aspect that hasn't changed is the way they conduct business. Always with a ready smile, always greeting me by my name. And not to forget the friendliness they extend to everyone. There would be times when I have stumbled in on cold miserable days, but this crew has cheered me up and managed to help fit me with something to suit my taste and budget. If you tell your company dress code, they are extremely savvy about fitting you with the appropriate mix and match and you will leave the store with a huge bargain. The Best consignment store I've ever seen. The ladies are so nice, the clothes are fashionable, wide variety of sizes, styles. We have increased our *business casual* wardrobe tenfold, at unbelievably low prices. The longer an item is on the rack, the more the price drops, but the starting price is such a bargain, don't count on that item being around that long! They also have a "frequent buyer" program, where your purchase amounts go to more bargains! It just doesn't stop here! It is a fun atmosphere, with a couch for kids or tired shoppers. I love this store, have been a loyal customer for years now..and have nothing but good things to say about it. They have a great selection of clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, jewelry, prom dresses, bridal gowns et al. , you name it, they probably have it thanks to their consignors. Some of the brands I have found here on my weekly visits range from Ann Taylor to Chicos, White House Black Market to Banana Republic, Lane Bryant, Dress Barn, going up all the way to Michael Kors, Coach, St John's, Brighton, Brahmin and B. Makowsky, did i mention they have quite a lovely selection of Vera Bradley, my personal favorite! Love how the store is clearly divided into departments, how their sizes are in a vast range from a XS to a 4XL. The speciality shop is awesome with all the beautiful designer labels, bags, shoes, accessories...great stuff!! They have a nice selection of Juniors, Maternity, Active Wear and Swim/Resort wear too, all their items are tailored to the season, which makes it so easy while shopping. It is consignment yes, but there are quite a few items "new with tags" too which is cool. They even offer a personal shopper service and bridal gowns and it's so fun to see how everyone gets excited when a bride says 'Yes, to the dress", the bride & her family, the customers in the store, the people working, everyone!! My taste in colors was very "inside the box"...usually reds and blacks, but this store and the awesome personal service they provide taught me to enjoy more colors, which I do mention, each time I get a compliment on what I'm wearing. The store is very clean, everything is well organized and easy to find, huge selection of quality merchandise, reasonable prices...this definitely is a "must visit" place!! My family and I discovered this little clothing shop a few years ago when we first moved in, and we make time to stop in all the time. It's kind of like the friendly coffee shop (something LITH is missing) for clothing in the neighborhood. The clothing choice is more exciting than the nearby Penney's or Kohl's because it is always changing, is cheaper and in style now. And the real reason why we go in, the owner and her staff! My mom, sisters and I love it there and get mad when one or the other goes without us. I should mention that they have a very generous consignment agreement, but we always end up using all our store credit in house instead of opting for the cash. To clarify... this is not a thrift store so do not expect thrift store prices or products. This is infact the best consignement store I have ever been to. 5 stars... why? Because its the friendliest, most engagingly genuine staff you will ever meet in any business. Marianne (the owner) and Kathleen are a laugh riot tag team of energy and comedy. You can feel the passion and love for what they do. I would not be surprised if Marianne knows all of her 1000++ consigners by name. I bet no one leaves her store without a smile on their face. Her store is bright, ample and very organized... sizes and colors easy to find. Item pricing is very clear and sales are always going on. It's all slightly used womens clothes and accessories (with a small section dedicated to juniors) of all price ranges. She has a section solely for higher end items (Chico, Coach, etc.) She has now expanded to include home items and furnishings. They make it easy for consigners to drop off items, electronically track earnings and has a great shopper incentive. I love this store and its people. I've been shopping / consigning at YBFC since they opened. While I don't ALWAYS find something, I nearly always do! Don't come in looking for THRIFT, it isn't what they're about. Though sometimes the deals are pretty awesome! The store is layed out beautifully, Shoes, Handbags (high ends) etc. it's easy to find your size, then it's up to you to manage the hunt! LOTS of items are NWT, if it's crap they won't take it, so you won't find it. The ladies (and the occasional young man) are so fun to be around. I'd love to work here, it would hardly seem like work in such a cherry environment! They are expanding for what the fourth or fifth time, in their history! So excited they will have that much more room for treasures to find! I have brought many friends to YBFC, who have become ongoing shoppers as well. On the down side...... they are only open 1 evening until 8, and on Saturdays.... so us 9 to 5'ers have a more difficult time visiting during the week.. food for thought........ read more

Extremely friendly staff. However, I am used to Plato's Closet where I can pull just about anything off the rack and love it. The clothes here are very mixed between younger and much older generations, so had difficulty finding something I liked. My other issue was the prices. Prices are way too high for a thrift store!! ($11 for a used cami??) And the whole idea of the prices going down after each date listed on the tag, while clever, really just seems like an unnecessary hassle. I would rather just have one low set price. read more

How about everything is amazing from Clothes to now furniture, etc. I purchased a beautiful oak curio cabinet for a fraction of retail. NOT a mark on it! How about I am also a consignor. While I don't expect to get what I paid for on the item(s), I think about how I was going to give it away anyway so I don't mind for whatever I get for whatever I am basically donating at the end anyway. I have heard several people say they drop off clothes and they disappear. They give you option to pick up what they don't keep, but then when they return them to you they deny getting certain items. They need to go through items at the time of drop off like other places. Also, their prices have increased and what they charge for items that are extremely worn is ridiculous. Just because it is a brand or designer label if it looks like it has been worn every day it is not worth what they try to charge. read more
