After over 3 months they gave me a phone number. When I contacted the provider I was told they are cancelling my policy because they don't have a program for my area. I immediately called Medicare Joe.... I've texted, emailed, and called three times - leaving a voice mail that someone needs to get in touch with me. I happened to get VERY lucky and find street/metered parking a block away. Keep making the loops. The door is locked to the outside. You have to ring a buzzer, which alerts the front desk person to push a button, which unlocks it. I really don't see the point of this-- she buzzes everyone in. I guess maybe in case of a crazy rampage outside? Inside is a small waiting area, with a kids play space, and lots of chairs. A lone woman sits at the front desk, her eyes absolutely dead tired and "over it." She's seen it all. When I explained my situation, which was rather time-sensitive and important, she didn't seem to believe me at first. I have a feeling she gets inundated by lots of BS on a daily basis. Once I explained and re-explained the situation, she finally concurred with my solution, and allowed me to pay in advance for our health insurance. Small tip-- each "plan" requires it's own form of payment (i.e., separate transactions). When you're on auto-pay, it's no big deal. When you're paying with your husband's check and you've brought only one-- you've got a problem. Thankfully, I had my personal checkbook with me and was able to write a second check. Unfortunately, if you want a receipt of your transaction, you have to wait. I waited probably 15-20 minutes until someone finally printed a receipt. I guess they have to scan it first, it goes through the system, and then they can print a receipt. Seems very inefficient! FINALLY-- if you are renewing your MassHealth insurance (Medicaid), this is NOT the place to do so. About 3-4 families were waiting to be seen in the lobby-- who knows for how long-- before someone came out and made the announcement. That is in a different place. Make sure you know where you need to be!
