You start off online, deciding what package you want or what type of session. When you arrive at the location it's all the way in the back of the salon slightly to the right. M'lis greets you as you enter her area and is immediately very warm and inviting. She will talk you through what the process is, she will inform you that everything is up to you! How much pressure you want, to what degree are you comfortable undressing and what areas you may want her to focus on VS what areas are off limits. She then gives you a mini tour of her room where soothing music is playing. She will tell you where you can put any/all affects for the duration of the appointment and she will step out so you can undress and lay under the sheet she has provided. She will then knock and ask if it's okay to enter and from there she will get to work! My problem areas are my lower back and staving off carpal tunnel. I let her know this when I initially spoke to her and she definitely paid close attention to those areas! One Life also works with the San Carlos School District to provide Therapists at the schools. Seeing the need for better mental health in the local Hispanic community, One Life opened a satellite center (Una Vita) offering "Weekly Mom's Groups" and other programs to help. Also believing that food insecurity adds to mental distress, One Life also offers a weekly food market for their clients. I am both a volunteer and a member of my family is a client. I started volunteering back in March 2021 during the height of the pandemic when One Life was partnering with 2nd Harvest Food Bank to offer free food to families on a monthly basis. Since that time, the food market has morphed into a weekly endeavor with the help not only from 2nd Harvest Food Bank but Trader Joes, Target, Safeway, Noah's Bagels and others. One Life provides much needed fresh produce, meat, dairy, bread and canned goods to over 100 families on a weekly basis. I volunteer every Monday and I look forward to Mondays. I have developed such positive and caring relationships with other volunteers as well as many of the clients who come on Mondays. This left a poor taste in my mouth. We had John and eskella/estella, and while my boyfriend enjoyed Estella since she really did a deep tissue. I was left with a lame ass Swedish massage when I had specifically stated that we both wanted a deep tissue and several times during the massage I kept saying harder and I kept getting ignored and Estella didn't bother letting John know what I wanted. Felt like a waste of $100 since I've never enjoyed Swedish massages bc they are pointless. However, it he had good technique and if he had applied any sort of pressure it would've been decent. TLDR: being made to pay before services were even rendered left a bad taste in my mouth and I didn't even get the massage I'd requested when I called and made the appt and when I repeated to the Estella at the front desk when we arrived.
