I would give more stars if I could! Dr McDonald is an amazing practitioner that gives careful attention to his patients and their health needs. I also work in the medical field and learned about him after hearing my patients rave about him. Now he is not only my doctor but I also refer anyone to him that is looking for a caring and thorough doctor. His staff, especially Dwayne and Deidre, are always prompt with their responses. The office space is intimate, more like a family than one of those factory offices that you feel like you are some checklist they have to fill. They are also great with helping people with weight loss and management, which I've seen direct results from two people that went through their program. Both people that stuck with the program lost a ton of weight and kept it off! I have been seeing Dr. McDonald for several years as my internist. As my children have aged out of their pediatrician, they also have become patients of Dr. Joe's. His office staff is always so friendly and welcoming the moment you walk in the door. Dr. Joe is a fantastic internist - he has a great sense of humor and makes you feel comfortable immediately. He discusses all of my medical issues with me at length and explains everything clearly. We discuss my concerns before any decisions are made making me a participant in my health care. I am always able to reach him through email if I have any questions or concerns. Deidre, the nurse practitioner is also wonderful! She is both a health care provider and a medi-spa provider. Dr. Joe McDonald is the best physician I have ever encountered. Ever. He is patient, kind and compassionate. He truly cares about each of his patients, as individuals, not as just another appointment to be hurried through and ticked off the schedule. He spends as much time as necessary with each patient while at the same time not keeping people waiting for long periods. He gives each person his full attention throughout their appointment. His care plans are thoughtful, comprehensive, and based on the total picture of his patients needs and lifestyle. Patients are part of the decision making in his treatment plans. Dr. McDonald is a knowledgeable and talented doctor but what makes him a truly extraordinary healer is not only his dedication to his calling but also his genuine concern for his patients. This caring simply shines through in each encounter. He is friendly, down to earth, and approachable with any problem or concern. He is interested in the full spectrum of his patients lives, and does not see them as just a particular complaint to be addressed then dismissed. He embodies what medical care used to be but is so extremely rare these days. The office staff is small and equally as caring as Dr. McDonald himself. I feel like I'm stopping in to visit friends instead of going into a cold, impersonal doctors office. The staff seems as genuinely happy to see each patient as Dr. McDonald is, and welcomes everyone warmly and by name. The office itself is more like a family room in ones home than a cold and sterile office setting. Dr. McDonald is reachable for questions or concerns and is able to accommodate same or next day appointments for urgent matters. I am so grateful to have found Dr. McDonald and this practice. You're never going to find a better doctor in the area. "Dr. Joe" always takes the time to discuss everything with you and he becomes a partner in your health and well being. You're not a number, you're an individual who's health is his number 1 concern. He has a wonderful office. First time I was there, I thought I walked into a yoga studio. It's calming, friendly and comfortable. Even nice zen music playing. My blood pressure is always much lower when I go to see him. Dr. Joe is like no other doctor I've ever gone to. I've had some issues come up where I needed to call him in the middle of the day and he quickly returns my calls and has made time for me the same day. No need to ever find another doctor! I moved to the area this past summer and had to pick a PCP for my new insurance plan. My HR rep told me Your MD was accepting new patients and was right around the corner from us. Not knowing anyone around to ask, I figured to go with Your MD and am now so happy I made that decision. Pulling up to the office, I expected to be in a medical suite, business park, you know the drill. I was pleasantly surprised to find the office is housed in a beautiful, welcoming condo right off Democracy Blvd. I went in for my first appointment and discovered Dr. McDonald is the only doctor in the practice (major win). We spent a little over an hour in his office before even getting to the annual physical. We talked about family history, realistic goals for the year (I'm not in the best physical shape), and he then informed me I would be able to get my blood work done in house by another member of the team. I went back two weeks later, assuming we'd quickly go over the results and I'd be shooed away so another patient could have their appointment. Again, we spent close to an hour together as Dr. McDonald went over my results, made some suggestions for vitamins/supplements and encouraged me to come back whenever I wanted to talk more about weight loss. Most recently, I went back to have something checked out and discuss a billing question and was greeted with a warm smile and a hug from Dwayne, the office manager. How often can you say the staff from your doctors office take the time to sit with you, ask how things have been, and thoroughly explain your account? I would recommend Dr. McDonald and his team to anyone and everyone. read more

Dr. Joe is knowledgeable, kind and attentive. Every appointment includes plenty of time to talk, so nothing gets missed, and he's accessible by email and phone as well. It's like having a concierge doctor without concierge prices. I can't even imagine going back to seeing physicians' assistants after this kind of service. read more

Dr Joe is the best, he expresses his proficiency in care and comfort in a way few doctors that I've interacted with can. You're not a number or patient, but a friend in need. While his expertise in weight loss and bbq may seem counterproductive, his advice and guidance in matters of health, the heart, and mindfulness, are rarely paralleled. read more
