The insight I gleaned from the career assessment package with Wanderlust Careers was invaluable! As compared to the other career coaches I had worked with in the past, Katherine Kirkinis took a unique approach by blending the disciplines of psychology and personality testing to develop and curate a list of careers paths that were best suited to my personality and innate strengths. The results of the assessment were detailed, thorough and chillingly accurate in highlighting my personality strengths and weaknesses. And the recommended career paths made sense to me and were in tune with some paths I was already considering, but also illuminated some paths I had not considered. 4 months after I received my assessment results, I landed a new job as a sales engineer, which interestingly was at the top of the list of recommended career paths in the assessment results. A strange coincidence indeed, but I am happier than I have ever been and making more money than I ever had in my 20 year career. All my experience led me to this new job, but the career assessment affirmed where my talents would be best utilized and what kind of role I would be most happy in and WHY. If I could give 10 stars I would. Working with Katherine changed my life, I have recommended her services to all of my friends, family and ex-coworkers (emphasis on ex!) I spent years feeling lost and unfulfilled in my career. I really needed some direction and someone to help me better understand who I am and what would make me happy. Not only did I make a massive career change (from sales to graphic design), I better understand who I am and have become a happier more confident person because of it. I have had the privilege of working with several of the staff at Wanderlust. I am a recent post-grad and was feeling unsure and unfulfilled with my career. Some background: after years of striving I finally found my way into the industry of my dreams. Except, well, it wasn't: it was an absolute degrading nightmare, an underpaid, overworked, anxiety-ridden nightmare with absolutely nowhere to go laterally or vertically (something management stressed over and over). Worse, my skill set and job history only seemed to qualify me for more jobs in the industry (which, again, is impossible to move around in). I came to Wanderlust Careers after a month of research on other career counseling services and figured that based on reviews and feedback it was exactly what I needed: a massive, reorienting change that would key me into my strengths, help me see where I'd become monomaniacal, and just generally give me the confidence and knowledge to start pursuing a new career path. And at first the sessions WERE informative. My interviewer seemed invested and interested and asked me a lot of leading questions that challenged exactly what I was looking for in work. Similarly, the battery of tests I took seemed like they would be good for addressing certain quirks of personality that might interfere with or distract me from work I thought I'd like. Then time came to view and discuss the results. I was told that I was most qualified to be a teacher, an administrative assistant or a case worker. Except I had discussed in our first and second interviews that I had been a teacher for two years and hated it and had no desire to return. Except I am currently an administrative assistant and find it menial, underpaid and insulting work that doesn't test anything except my patience and does nothing to develop my skill set (a point I made VERY apparent in our first two discussions). And except a case worker makes only $1000 more a year than I currently do and is even more stressful and thankless work than this. After a week spent applying to these jobs, we talked again; when I expressed my discomfort with these career paths, she assured me that this was for the best given my skill set and personality and that these careers would leave me the time necessary to work on my art in the evenings (another element of my frustration with the current job we'd discussed). Except, again, I knew from firsthand experience in two of three cases that this was not true, and had the advice of friends and councilors that case work would also solve none of my frustrations. When I expressed this she waved it away, saying I didn't have the money enough to pursue a career in any of the other areas I matched aptitude with and just suggested getting out of where I was to begin with. At which point her advice was rudimentary: instead of telling me about less traveled venues, of websites I may not have heard of or hiring programs for my fields or even of other career paths we hadn't yet discussed, she suggested I troll Indeed and other job boards for jobs and then find contacts through LinkedIn who could introduce me to hiring managers. Advice I've been using since I started job hunting ages ago. The entire time assuring me that if I could just leave THIS job for another one of those recommended that I could then really embark on my career as an artist (which is just awful advice and shows a complete lack of knowledge about the "career" of an artist, as if that's a really viable path these days for all but a very small handful). She also suggested that I sign up for the company's resume review service, which ended up costing $200 after they applied the needs-based discount. I've since found a resume reviewing service that cost $150 WITHOUT a discount and has already netted me a number of job interviews in the tech field, something my adviser completely passed over as a possibility out of an insistence that it wouldn't fit my personality. I can't say if the resume services provided by Wanderlust are better than their counseling services, but why take the risk? And all this for the low price of $1000. If you're looking for ways out of your job, this likely isn't it; it's certainly more expensive than most can afford and less informative than anything I've encountered yet. read more

I cannot recommend Wanderlust enough!! I started working with Katie as I was moving from London to NYC and job searching. I already knew what field I wanted to work in, but needed help narrowing down exactly what I wanted- in a very short amount of time! I completed 5 counseling sessions with Katie. She coached me in every aspect of my search from start to finish- reviewing my cover letters and resume, going over interview techniques, and later when offers came through, on benefits and salary negotiation. The entire process was conducted via Skype and e-mail, which made it incredibly convenient, especially during a hectic period of my life when I was job searching AND looking for an apartment simultaneously! I got a job within 2 months. I know it would have taken at least twice as long without Katie's help, which I literally could not afford. This was one of the best investments I've ever made, and it certainly paid for itself in my first paycheck at the new job! read more
