This place makes awesome cupcakes. They tend to be fancy ones (red velvet, german chocolate cake, carrot cake, etc) so I think they use the cupcakes as examples of the cakes they can make. I haven't tried a full cake from them however so I speak for the cupcake experience only. I usually get the german chocolate or the carrot cake cupcakes. I really need to try more, but these are so good that I keep getting them over and over. It is a small, locally owned shop so you may need to wait a minute or two for them to finish what they are doing and come out from the back. Simple shop but I'm paying for something that tastes good, not their decor. Give this place a try, chances are you'll love it. read more

Your Perfect Cake has been good to me in years past so I thought I'd give them a try again. Very happy I did. The cake design was pretty much what I asked for & the price was more reasonable than what other local bakeries quoted me. The taste was so good, moist and fresh even though I picked the cake up the day before my parent's dinner party. I just stored it in the fridge and took it out a couple hours before serving. Ok, the carrot cupcake was good and they had a unique selection. Nothing spectacular. The "make your own cake" option is cool and I've never heard of it before. BUT the service was borderline awful. Nobody is out at the counter, ever. There's a door next to the register and we waited for a couple of minutes before a young woman came through the door and asked if we needed assistance. After she took our orders she quietly slipped behind the door again. I totally understand that the pastries need to be made in the back behind closed doors, but the lack of showing-face makes it a mediocre experience, regardless of the quality of the food. Love, love, love this place. My husband has gotten my cakes from here every year and we live almost an hour away. They are not only delicious but absolutely beautiful. As the manager walked back into the baking area, I heard the manager say, "She's getting a free cake and she's still upset." Yes I was still upset because it was my second visit to the store, that morning to pick up my cake, which I ordered three days in advance. The manager says at the first visit, she'll make another cake, since they could not find the cake I ordered. So I returned the second visit, 90 minutes later and she made the wrong cake!!! I ordered a red velvet sheet cake. She made a round cake, which I discovered later was dry. Poor customer service and etiquette from the manager. The assistant, in contrast was quite pleasant and respectful. If you're ordering a cake for an important event, such as your child's graduation from college, don't order from Your Perfect Cake!! I spent $130 on a baby shower cake and got a cake that was the wrong color, completely different from the picture I sent in, and disproportionate. They did not offer a discount and this cake does not go with the theme at all. Don't waste your time, or your money. My fiance and I scheduled a cake tasting with this place. We drove from Raleigh to make the tasting appointment, and got a call 45 minutes before our appointment saying they had to cancel. After saying we drove a long way to taste their cakes they agreed to meet one hour after scheduled. One problem - there was not really any cake to taste! This place used to be my go to to get cupcakes. I ordered some cupcakes and noticed that the first few tasted different and a little dry. I just figured well maybe someone overcooked them or they changed the recipe. The next day I decided I would have another cupcake but before I could eat it I noticed there was MOLD in the bottom of the cupcake and on the bottom of the cupcake wrapper. Don't know what has happened to this bakery the cupcakes use to be amazing but the last two times I have gotten them they have tasted old. The cake is no longer moist I don't know if they are now mass producing them or buying already made frozen cupcakes but the quality has gone down so disappointing. I paid over $200 for a mermaid theme cake and a smash cake for my 3 year olds birthday. I sent in the pictures and told the girls what colors were ok to use. When we got there to pick the cakes up they were both the wrong colors and the design wasn't even the same. Because we were already late I couldn't make a fuss or I would have. $225 is a lot to spend on cake and it should NOT have been that wrong. Although my daughter loved it, its not what paid for. I wasn't offered another cake or a refund. I can promise they will never get my business again and I will no longer suggest them to family or friends. Did I mention the flavors were also wrong? They were. The owner is very sweet and so Is the staff but that doesn't change the cake or the money I wasted. I hate the fact that I had to text the owner what I wanted. Maybe my cakes would have been correct if I could have went in and sat down with someone and figured it all out. Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.
