Tried out Biscuit & the Bean today because they were open earlier than most other coffee places. I ordered a Banana Pudding iced latte which was very good and if I were to ever come back, it would be only for this. I got a hoop cheese biscuit and ate over half until finally finding the small bit of cheese in it. My husband got a shot in the dark which was fine. The service was a little odd. There were lots of stares/blank faces our way which was kind of uninviting. Then while we were standing to the side waiting for our order, one of the employees came to grab napkins for a table that was nearby and she didn't say a word to us, just kept getting closer until we moved to be out of her way. It was an awkward encounter for sure. Bonus points for opening before 8 on a Saturday but not sure I would return based of this mornings experience. read more

Biscuit and the bean is the sweetest cafe in Greenville/winterville area. Their drinks are all top notch and the food is great. I've never been disappointed with any choice. They serve simple feel good baked goods and classic southern dishes that are made in house. Some of which have won awards at the state fair. It's a sweet and cozy atmosphere with plenty of seating. The last time I came here my order was wrong-it was a simple order, just a sausage biscuit-get my order loaded with an egg and cheese, no thanks. 2 months later order a plain sausage, clearly said nothing else on it, young lady asked if I want cheese or egg, a resounding no. So then why do I have cheese on my biscuit which I am sure you charged me for. While the biscuit was remade, then they acted annoyed when I asked for an adjustment, since I am sure cheese is extra. I like nothing more than supporting small business, but again customer service has to be the order of the day, no matter how busy you are!!!! And in both instances there was no, apologies. Whenever I come into town I love coming here for breakfast with my son. So far I have had the sage sausage egg and cheese biscuit and I tried one of their custom breakfast burritos. Of course, their coffee is not to be missed! Seating is rather limited but they have tables and comfy couches if you are inclined to dine in. So many things wrong here! Let's start with the African American lady delivering food, she's so sweet but soft spoken. I had to ask twice what she said all five times she came to the table. She mentioned being "required" to speak in a subdued manner. WTF? I'm outraged! I have so many not feedback appropriate words to say about that BS!!!Seriously, five times to the table because the kitchen makes sandwiches, one at a time, drinks come one at a time and they conveniently forgot we ordered dessert. if I could rate it zero stars I would. Walking in, the atmosphere is cute and cozy, but the staff and food are anything but great. My hoop biscuit was dry and overcooked and my side of "fresh" fruit was mushy should've been thrown out long ago. The young lady who served me at the register was polite but still being trained so it took a while to get my order in but that wasn't the part of my visit that bothered me. While here I also saw a shorter, older woman, who I assume to be the manager, treating her staff with so much disrespect, it appalled me. Their staff seems to be made up primarily of young men and women, so as a mother this especially got me going. So this is the third incarnation of a coffee shop in this storefront in a fairly short span of time. Because I live close by I have been to all three many times. I'm not a coffee drinker, so I defer to all other reviews in terms of coffee quality. I am reviewing this shop as someone who eats biscuits and sandwiches. I like the atmosphere. It's quiet, relaxing, and yet also kid-friendly. You won't find a menu deal here, but one rarely does in a coffee shop. The food offerings are good. Certainly better than the nearby Starbucks. But while nothing on the menu is outstanding, you come because of the atmosphere. The friendliness of the staff. And for me, the convenience. I do need to say though that I felt put-off by having to pay more for a side cup of fruit as opposed to chips. Especially because they simply asked "fruit cup or chips?" without saying the fruit cup was a dollar more. To be honest, for the small portion of fruit, it's absolutely not worth that extra dollar. If they can't offer it for the same price, they need to rethink their sides. At the very least they need to say when offering choices that the fruit is a dollar more. Maybe it is written up somewhere, but in 10+ visits, I never saw it. An extra dollar adds up when you bring a family of five ten times before realizing you were paying an extra dollar each for healthy option. But overall, I enjoy the place and hope it can be the business to survive in a venue that's only seen failures before. read more

My wife, my son, and I walk in from a cold, rainy day. Immediately greeted with warmth we were guided through the menu. We ordered 3 drinks and 2 meals. OH MY WAS EVERYTHING SIMPLY EXCELLENT!!! 2. This establishment is quite possibly the best kept as far as cleanliness and organization as well. The way the tables, sofas, decor are hand picked and placed in and around a large footprint make you have the sense of being at home. They even have a room that can be reserved as well if you or your group require privacy. I want to thank the owner Laura Smith for the warm and inviting atmosphere and for providing top notch TLC. So far this place is not good I am drinking my whites chocolate frappe which is disgusting and waiting forever for my food that I ordered 20 mins ago. The frappe is the worst I have ever tasted, it doesn't taste like white chocolate and the texture is weird. So I finally received my food now and the grit bowls are really disgusting need butter salt and pepper so I did have it at 3 stars but sorry I just can't do that with the flavor of this food. The grits had so many gigantic clumps that they were not edible and that sweet potato biscuit is bisquick mix and they just added some cinnamon sugar. I will never come here again total waste of money read more

Was excited about trying this place. Folks said best coffee in town. My latte was luke warm and my bacon, egg and cheese biscuit was cold. Hoping they will get it all together soon. Definitely a better latte in town at other places. I was gracious giving 4 stars in hopes they would get it all together. Really deserved a 3 but didn't want to scare anyone away since this a new business and I love new businesses. The cold brew is on tap and is really really good. Will definitely be back for that. Ok! I never knew a good cold brew until I had the nitro! Staff is friendly and attentive and the coffee isn't burnt like most coffee places (St*rb*cks...) I got the Red Eye biscuit and it was incredible! The food and service are outstanding! The atmosphere is amazing also. It's a great place for breakfast/lunch/coffee. There are plenty of differing seating options, tables both low and high tops. Comfy couches/chairs. Both times we've come we've noticed local students completing work. The edible cookie dough has easily become a favorite. I'm a little behind in reviewing this place. I visited this place about 20 days ago. First off I absolutely love the look and feel of this place. It's got that really laid back and relax vibe to it. Very clean place. Me and my son ordered a chicken biscuit and bacon egg hoop cheese biscuit. Plus a Diet Pepsi and a large white chocolate caramel mocha hot. We got our drinks fairly quickly but the food took about 30 minutes as it was being freshly prepared. I also love the fact that they put a real fried egg on my biscuit and not one of those frozen precooked eggs. And the biscuits were nice and generous in portion size. And yes all biscuits are scratch made. I absolutely devoured my biscuit in a matter of minutes. My son gobbled his down very quickly as well. The staff was super friendly! We also was greeted by the owner as well. She made us feel welcomed. Now I would've given this place 5 stars but my white chocolate caramel tasted like the espresso was a little week and I couldn't taste hardly any flavoring in it. I'm a little bit of a coffee and bean snob. I managed a coffee and sandwich shop for about 8 yrs. I know how they should be done and taste. Maybe it was just an off day for the barista.
