The darling people that carry that heavy stuff out to my car could not be more patient and generous. Oh, and don't get me started on the darling gift shop. The store offers a loyalty program, so after every 10 or 11 bags purchased of one brand, we get a free bag of the same brand! Other deals pop-up too from the store and from the various brands. For November, if you buy a bag of PuraVida kibble , you get a free bag of Nutty Butter bites dog treats. The location of this shop is super convenient. She is loving, smart, somewhat obedient (our fault) and just about the best dog we've ever had. Lynn and Jim use science to breed healthy, predictable F-1 puppies but it's the love that makes the difference. Their warmth and love for the puppies starts their lives so positively that I have never heard of one of their puppies growing up to be anything but and extraordinary dog.

Found a crate (a puppy den), a gate, a collar/harness/lead, and training treats. The treats, toys, food, and other supplies were all well-stocked. The employee at check-out was pleasant. The gate didn't work for us, so I went back a few days later to return it, and that was quick and easy. I definitely like to support the smaller local pet shops, but this was the right stop for a crate. Thanks!

Was told to wait a few days to review the applications and we were the only ones interested in the cat. Come back a few days later as instructed to check on the status of our application. Was told we were approved and the cat was ours. I told them I will go collect the money and come back to get her. When I came back to get here the same day as I said I was going to they had given her to someone else. Extremely unprofessional. No one accepted responsibility for the massive errors in the process of adoption. Instead we get told "just get another cat." As if it's like grabbing the gallon of milk behind the one we were reaching for. We fell in love with that cat. We wanted her specifically. A simple "just get another one" is absolutely horrible. Completely unprofessional and unsympathetic to the situation that was caused by them. What they did was the equivalent of giving away a newborn to the wrong family and telling them to just choose another one from the nursery. No, I want my child! Just horrible and callous. We fell in love with GiGi and we prepared to bring her into our lives and love her for years to come and now we are heartbroken and given a disingenuous apology and a snarky "get a different one."

I've been periodically shopping at Village Pets for about 3 years now and my experiences have been…read moremediocre. It's a tiny store jammed with stuff, so if there's anyone else in there, it's really hard to move around. Prices are relatively high compared to other pet stores, both brick-and-mortar as well as online. Inventory is unpredictable - they are often out of the dog food I use. They also have some weird rules, like you only get the case discount on canned food if you buy a case of all the same food. They tried to explain that the discount can't work if you buy different cans because they're different prices. Huh? 10% off the total price is 10% off the total price. The only reason I shop there sometimes is because they aren't far from my house. The last straw was tonight when I had just driven 2 hours back from a meeting in Sacramento and I was trying to get there to buy dog food before they closed at 6:30 (there were no other stores still open on my way home). It was 6:29 so I called to let them know I was literally 2 minutes away and to ask if I could run in and grab a bag of dog food. To their credit they did answer the phone, but they told me that they couldn't allow me to come in and buy the food. I was sitting at the stoplight right in front of the shopping center. While I understand that they want to go home, give me a break. They would have been there an extra 3 minutes. Customer service is clearly not their priority. I love to purchase from local businesses, but ones that are friendly, high quality and well-run. If you're looking for great local pet stores, I suggest The Feed Store in Sebastopol, Pet Food Express in Sonoma or Petaluma, or Western Farm in Santa Rosa. Not Village Pets!

Some will melt your heart they are so cute. There is a carousal of boxed dog cards near the door. If you have a favorite breed, it will probably be there. They do have a cat section but it is rather limited. They seemed to have a larger variety of treats for cats last time we were here. The bison liver treats were our kitties favorite. It's a fun place to visit. You will most likely find something special for your pampered furry friend.

We've been in many times over the years - purchased a plush dog bed, treats, toys, leads, dog note cards, dog gifts, and more. Stopped in recently for a new collar and harness. I went in with both pups and they were over-stimulated by all the treats and toys at eye level! Thankfully the two employees were gems and helped us find and try on the collars and harnesses. We found a sturdy Ruffwear harness for one, and will probably return to get one for the other pup. As we shopped and looked around, my pups helped themselves to the dog treats smartly displayed in bins on the floor. They loved the bacon treats! So we had to get some of those to take home too. Our pups anxiously await their next Fideaux visit!
