This place is a diamond in the rough! Barkers Pet Supply is located on highway 116, just as you're entering Guernville from the 101 highway. It's a small pet supply store with 2 self wash stations. (Grooming isn't offered) Although the store is small, it's very well supplied, the prices are reasonable and ALL the staff is very friendly. The self wash stations are usually available, the water pressure and template is perfect and, there's plenty of shampoo and conditioner options. The dryer is perfect! I have a yellow lab (Wilson) and even with his dual coat, it does the trick. If I had one request, it would be for a larger drying table, as my lab is just about too big for it. But, what they have works for me. I highly recommend visiting this location as you're about to head to the river for some treats and toys. (Flea & Tic protection) Or, if you're about to head home. I've been buying pet supplies here for about 6 months now and I enjoy it so much more than a petco and other major brands. The people here are so helpful and knowledgeable about how to help with your dogs' specific needs. My dog was struggling with major pancreatic flare ups and they were able to give me great recommendations on different foods and supplements off of the information we had from our vet that have completely solved his problems! They have a huge selection of cat and dog food, toys, care, etc. I would absolutely recommend checking it out! read more

What a lovely little spot with all the essentials. We were in town from San Francisco and had a harness fiasco that needed fixing - and Barkers fixed us right up. The gentleman that helped us was kind, authentic, and helpful - gently measuring the numerous rolls of our pug to get the few "neck" measurements that would help find the right harness for him. To fully accommodate the crowd (aka mr jealousy the pittie) he gave them both some treats on our way out, showed them some love, and left us with a smile on our faces (even though it seemed like he had a hard morning!) I took my pup here for a bath today. Love their set up, two tubs one big and one small. They had a riser for inside the tub which was perfect for my small pup who is recovering from a broken leg. You can start a bath card and after 9 baths you get a free one! They provide everything you need from in-tub tethers, shampoo, conditioner, blow dryers and thick fluffy towels. Free dog treat samples, and a wide range of products including canine CBD which is essential when your energetic pup is recovering from an injury. They have the best customer service, were super patient with all my questions. You can't go fully inside the store right now due to pandemic health orders, but if you know what you're looking for, the knowledgable staff will bring you options to shop through. Highly recommend! We were visiting Guerneville for a day during the Memorial Day weekend and I had realized that I left Whisky's dinner back at the AirBnb (shame on mom!), which was by Sebastopol. Instead of driving all the way back to the AirBnb to grab his dinner, I found Barkers on Yelp and decided to buy some food here instead. We parked in their parking lot and walked to the entrance where a nice gentleman greeted us and asked what we were looking for. Note that their store isn't fully open yet meaning that customers aren't able to go inside the pet store just yet but they will be opening it back up fully soon. We told him that we were looking for some dinner for Whisky, who is 5 months old, and he asked what we currently feed him, which is the Honest Kitchen (Chicken). He said he'll be right back and moments later he came back with a perfectly small bag of kibble for Whisky. He explained that this kibble is for all life stages, made of chicken, and the kibble is small enough for his size. He also mentioned that this kibble does not require a transition so it won't cause Whisky an upset stomach. He also brought out a little popsicle for Whisky, which contained electrolytes since it was a really a hot day and also gave him a chicken treat! How very considerate and super sweet of him! We also made small talk with the owner of Barkers and she is just as sweet and friendly. Wow, we absolutely loved our experience at this local pet store as everyone here was just amazing, caring, and super helpful!! It looks like this pet store will have everything you need as well. The next time we are in the area again, we will be making a stop here to pick up some more goodies. :) read more

Came in today to get my dog a bath and was very impressed. Wonderfully helpful customer service. Very easy to use dog bath area. The door outside has a baby gate to the outside, so lots of fresh air. Plenty of clean towels. Nice water pressure. Good quality soap provided too. My dog feels so soft! I have been to many self dog baths, and this was one of the best!! Will definitely be back! We walked up to Barkers pet supply to grab some dog food while we were on vacation in Guerneville, the man and woman who work there were outstanding. Extremely friendly and helped us in every way they could! It's a small shop but has exactly what you need and if they don't they offer to get it shipped to them. Unfortunately we live a couple hours away now so we won't be back any time soon but those two definitely stuck out and made the experience! Not a negative thing to say about them. read more

I love Barkers. Today I went in to get some treats for my pug puppy. As I was paying I spoke to the owner about a mishap I'd had earlier in the day. I had bought this fancy glass treat jar with a metal hinge clasp. I just thought it was the cutest thing, but the darn thing shattered into a million tiny pieces and ruined all the treats I had filled it with. So I had to replace her treats which is why I was there today. Anyway the shop owner more than graciously handed me a plastic treat container (with some treats inside even! ) and asked if I would like it for Charley's treats. Great staff! They gave my puppy so much love and attention with good tips and tricks for me. I went in there asking for the best treat to keep my pup occupied and they suggested the frozen Primal raw beef marrow bone and the Rogue River Backstrap beef tendon. The tendon was great and kept my pup occupied during dinner. The beef bone kept him happy during the long drive back to Socal. I was so glad to have met sweet Karen, a caring animal lover. There are times when the small local business just don't come through. I switched, or at least tried to switch to Barkers to get my regular supply of Primal Raw dog food. I used to shop at another pet store in Forrestville, but since Barkers was more local to me, decided to give them a shot. ----Well, I gave them actually 4 shots to stock a simple 6lb bag of Beef Patties. They got it right once, but for 4 times straight, they were not able to come through with a pretty simple request. It really doesn't make sense to me, they will have about 8 bags of Pork patties, and 4 Bags of Chicken each time, but no beef. I have asked and they continually agreed to stock it, hold one aside for me, but for 4 times straight I had to leave with an alternative, not what I needed. read more

I took my Husky, Chai, in for a bath today and was extremely satisfied with Barkers. I've been going to a very upscale DIY bath in Marin but now I'm on a budget and BARKERS is affordable, clean and the very nice gentleman working there was super helpful. I got a nice treat for Chai after the bath because... well it takes 2 shampoos and one conditioner to get a white husky whiter!! This place is great! Came up to Guerneville for the weekend with our pups and due to a miscommunication, left their food at home. I remembered we had passed this place on the way in, so we drove back and made it just before closing time. Kieran (sp?) welcomed us in, pointed us towards the Taste of the Wild section (which is priced way below average), and even hooked us up with a few freebies! Barkers Pet Supply is a really great store with a terrific self serve bathing area where they supply everything needed for your dog bath. Shampoo, conditioner, ear wipes, towels and a blow dryer. It's great to see Holly back in Guerneville owning and operating the store with her partner Kerryn. They have a great selection of all types of inventory and if you want something in particular and they don't have it just tell them and they will get it in for you. All pricing is competitive with the big pet supply stores so don't think they are more expensive because they are a smaller local store because they definitely are not. I am all for supporting local businesses so there is no reason for me to go buy my supplies at PetSmart or PetCo when Barkers pricing is totally competitive with theirs. I think I've died and gone to pet supply heaven! I'm just crazy for this place. Holly, one of the owners, is a wealth of knowledge and is always so helpful. My poor Birman kitty, for some unknown reason, got fleas...horrors....well, Holly gave me multiple tips on how to rid my baby of these pesty creatures.
