I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was genuinely disappointing…read more I booked what was supposed to be a special Mother's Day massage experience, and throughout the past 24 hours the appointment was changed FOUR separate times, the last one with only about an hour's notice before the appointment time. Despite the inconvenience, I remained respectful and simply expressed my frustration professionally over text which was our primary form of communication. Instead of trying to resolve the situation or make things right, I received a phone call where the staff became defensive and upset that I referred to the situation as unprofessional. I was berated then threatened with cancellation simply for respectfully addressing my concerns as a paying customer. I completely understand that scheduling issues happen, but customer service and professionalism matter just as much as the service itself. Last-minute changes repeatedly throughout the day, followed by hostility toward a customer expressing valid concerns, is unacceptable. Very disappointing experience overall and unfortunately not somewhere I would recommend, especially for anyone planning a special occasion. This was a more stressful than relaxing experience and it wasn't even for myself

I've been delaying my review for weeks now debating if I really should reveal my secret of a fantastic find, but then I thought I must pay honor and tribute to where it is due. She is accommodating and her flow is purely instinctual. She is able to read and feel what your body needs then addresses it accordingly with her knowledge of multiple modalities. After the completions of my last 2 massages I felt like a ball of jello totally relaxed and ready to sleep. My kind of massage.

Tl;dr: Best massage I've had in my life. I've tried Thai massage, Shiatsu, and all manner of Western massages. I've paid $600 for a massage to $50, but in the end, the only way I evaluate a massage is through its quality and results. I can promise you that if you want to leave with pain relief that LASTS beyond a single day, Eleos is the place! I'm a runner who has scoliosis, works at a desk, and lives 100 miles from work (I'm in California); I have tightness and pain in my neck, shoulders, along my spine, wrists, lower back, and legs. Basically, I'm a nightmare. I've learned to live with the pain, and think of massage as a temporary relief -- and if I'm lucky, that's what I get. Maybe one or two days of a better-feeling body. After my massage at Eleos, my body felt complete transformed. All of the constant pain I'm used to was gone, which I've experienced in massages before.... But this time, I felt a more fundamental shift in my body, as if the therapy fixed the pain rather than simply masked it. For the first time ever, the pain improved longterm, not just for a couple of days. To me, this indicates that Catherine really knows what she's doing. Most masseuses have a routine; you know what I mean! They spend a set number of minutes in each spot and no more, because they need to complete the set by the end of the time limit. Not Catherine. Without any direction, she found the spots that needed work and committed to them until the knots were loose. Catherine won't cut corners. I'm a small person, and although I always ask for a lot of pressure, I almost always get about 50% of what I want. I imagine it's a LOT of effort to give a "strong" massage, so I do understand when a massage falls short of the pressure I'm hoping for. But that inevitably means the relief is only temporary. My massage at Eleos was effortful for Catherine, I'm sure, but it made all the difference. All of that, and it's still one of the most affordable massages you can get. Because I don't reside in Hawaii, I'm going to have to live without these massages until I'm back. If you live nearby, consider yourself lucky! You can bet I'll be making my appointments long before my next return. My goal is to go in multiple times on my next trip, since frankly, going to a massage near me would be too disappointing after the one I had Eleos :(

Let me preface this by saying that I've been extremely disappointed by all the massages I've…read morereceived in Oahu since moving here in August. I love deep tissue, ART, and really getting in there and working out whatever is wrong. Most of the other massages I've had are more of the swedish style with sweeping strokes that feel good but do very little in terms of fascia blasting or whatever happens with deep tissue. Someone recommended I try Brenda. Her shop is in Mililani and not too far from me, so I thought why not? I texted her and after working out our scheduling, managed to get an appointment fairly quickly. She works out of her home rather than a studio. I kind of liked it. She has a dog and cat so if you have allergies, just be aware. She started me off in a thing on a mattress that was supposed to do something with my blood platelets or something. No idea. But it was comfortable just relaxing for a minute before she worked on me. She also had me get into a red lamp bed (sort of like a tanning bed but with red light). I think this also helped warm up my body to make it more pliable when we moved over to the table. Here's where things got interesting. She started with a theragun. I have one at home so I was really hoping that this wasn't going to be the extent of the massage--this happened at another place i went to. But much like the red lamp thing, this was just to soften me up--a prelude to the actual massage. Much like Thai massage, Brenda gets on top of your back and uses her feet to massage you. This was pretty effective. It's definitely not as targeted as when therapists use traditional deep tissue techniques, but not far off. I would have like a little more focus on specific areas on my hip that she'd need to use her hands on but I should have said something. Anyway, she really works you over with her techniques. She also helped stretch out my legs and hip area using sort of physical therapy techniques which I loved. She adjusted my back, neck, and hip using chiropractor-like techniques. All good. Really the best part of the entire process is just Brenda's big, effervescent personality. I left with recommendations to places all over Oahu because she knows everyone. She even gave me her cookie dough recipe. If you need a legit massage rather than the useless stuff you typically get a spa or whatever, give Brenda a try. She's brilliant.
