This place is very nice and well kept! I had a recent storage unit in Hawaiian gardens at extra storage on Norwalk blvd. ( owner is nice, one other employee I encounter was nice and understanding.. the others a holes! Are dark and eh... it was ok Now, shooting forward to this your space self storage, units are IMMACULATE!! Very neat and clean. Well lit and very well kept. And I loved the fact that my storage unit wasn't in deep (5x10) it was 10x5 meaning 10 ft in width and 5 fr deep. With a roll up door! So much easier to put things away and also to find anything I may need going forward!! thank you so much your space!! Keep up the good job!! Oh! And before I forget... the girl at the front desk!! This place is awesome! The staff is so helpful and polite. I needed to rent a unit and made an appointment. I didn't know what size I needed, but the young lady took me around and showed me options and was very patient. I ended up getting a 5x10. I have had them for 4 months now, and they are still awesome! The security system is awesome. If you don't put your code in on the way in... when you unlock your unit, alarm goes off. Your Space Self Storage is a worthy facility to patronize when you decide that you need a little extra space to store some of your hard to part with items and other valuables. The location is OKAY but you'll be able to breathe a little better with their lovely exterior, clean environment, and security presence. I've owned plenty of storage units during my days but this one is clearly the best. They had a good deal online that gave me nearly half off my first three months with them. Score #1. They also have clean, straight interior walkways that are well lit (at least mine is anyway). Score #2. I've had crazy units in the past where I had to twist and turn to get to my unit. Not fun especially when I have to turn on several timed-lights to get there. Assistance is cordial and I have yet to encounter a problem with them. No complaints from me! read more

I've been here for a few months and initially liked it. One day coming and I opened my storage I see rat poop everywhere. I DO NOT have food in my storage. This immediately upset me knowing I have my business inventory and my late brothers personal belongings that cannot be replaced. I was told on Friday to come till Tuesday to speak to the manager. There is poop everywhere in my unit. I walked around the hallway behind my storage and seen more which was beyond my belief. How has management not seen this? It's more than obvious. Do they not have employees walk the storage units to make sure everything is okay. This is not one rat but MANY. I just don't know how this has gone unnoticed makes you question if your belongings are even being kept safe. THE RAT PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE FIXED! I will start by clarifying that a 4 star qreview is given because of the corporate representative that called me after a terrible end to renting from this particular facility. My family and I moved to California and needed storage so we read reviews and checked out different facilities. We liked this place because it was clean and had better security than others. The staff was not amazing from the beginning, even a little rude depending on who you spoke with. Long story short we ended up not staying in California and moved to Texas (I know, big difference!) so my wife and I flew to California, rented a car and hotel room for 4 days. The moving company which will also be reviewed shortly had arranged after some difficulty to meet us on Saturday at the storage place. We stopped in on Friday so I could arrange some things in the unit for easier moving and stopped in the office to speak to Carol the manager about the move. She said no semi-trucks allowed in the storage facility but a box truck was fine. The moving company showed up in the afternoon with a box truck but were not allowed to bring it through the gate because the maintenance man said it was too long!! I was furious, I explained that Carol (who was off on Saturday) had approved of this the day before and he said he overheard the conversation. Okay, so why wasn't I (the paying customer) given detailed information about a size limit? These people treated me so disrespectfully during this interaction that I was ready to walk away and leave my things if it didn't include sentimental items. The maintenance guy even went as far as to tell the driver of the truck, "if you feel so much compassion for this lady then don't charge her extra to walk the 110 ft to carry her belongings to the truck that you have to park outside the gate". The maintenance guy then proceeded to wash and clean his truck and boat for the truck hour and a half which he probably pulled through the emergency wide gate behind the building that I was informed was only for fire trucks. The front office girl was probably his daughter or cousin, not helpful either, and even a bit flippant. It was a "I don't care this is your problem" situation. Also frustrating was that the maintenance guy and front office lady said that big trucks can cause damage to the gate and buildings but the moving truck had already followed a customer in before we arrived without damaging anything so my moving company driver said I will give you my insurance info now so you can make a claim if I damage anything...still not allowed in the gate. We were charged an extra $380 dollars for the moving company to walk our things to the truck. I contacted the main or corporate office and was called back by Ben who happens to be the best part of this experience. He listened to my experience, apologized, assured me that better communication will be the result of this debacle and offered a refund to offset some of the moving cost. This is what a good leader does, review the problem and make changes to prevent a terrible experience for future customers. So the moral of this loooong story is bring a box truck shorter than 26ft if you rent a storage unit from Your Space!! read more

I would give 5 stars for price, amenities, cleanliness, and friendly service from most of the staff. There was some confusion on how yelp coupons work at first, but the company immediately took control of the situation. No matter what the situation is, the management will do whatever it takes to reach out to their customers and make things right because they care about their customers and prospectives. I came in to ask to do a transfer to a bigger unit and the personnel that worked on Friday where of no help to me!! The two woman in that office where very rude!!. They wouldn't help me! All I wanted was information on a bigger unit, they were too busy doing something else - which looked like nothing to me. I feel that if I am a customers I should've been attended to no matter what was going on in the office. The bottom line was that they told me that if I didn't like the information they gave me that I could go look for another storage place somewhere else!! Can you believe that! I have been a customer for about 3 years now, and I'm completely aware that you are not allowed to live in your storage unit/Parking. But it has come to my concern that the washing machine guy has been living in his trailer for years. I'm only mentioning this now because I am completely unsatisfied with the maintenance guy, He is so, Unprofessional, Rude, and Unhelpful. I'm more than sure that the manager is friends with the washing machine guy since I always saw them being friendly with each other. He does whatever he wants there. Before I get into the pros & cons of this business, I would love to say how much I LOVE JOHN, who I believe is the groundskeeper. 3 stars for YSSS & 4 because of John (He's 5 stars!). He is incredibly kind, helpful, & sweet. The day I was moving my stuff out (after being a client for 5 years) the company locked me out (prematurely). Carla, the worker who was inside said she'd let me in, but said it was up to me to figure out how to get out because it was time for her to clock out. John, was very kind and helped me get out. He has been there for as long as I can remember and is always so helpful, especially when he lends out the dollies & carts. Always smiling & polite. Great guy. We need more Johns in this world. Here are the pro's & con's followed by my story. PROS: JOHN!!! Options to have a room inside an air conditioned building. Clean. Electrical outlets near storage rooms. ( Mine was right next to one.) Dollies & carts available to use while facility is open. Big elevators that can fit many items and furniture pieces. Donation bins for clothing on the grounds. CONS: 7-10% rent increase EVERY year. Inaccurate information given over the phone. Personal codes to get in AND out building. Keypads to punch in codes are not car friendly (most of the time you have to get out or use a long pen to punch in the numbers). Hours are limited and they usually close at 7pm, which is a little early considering many day jobs are over around 5:30pm. No trash cans or recycle bins near or inside the buildings. ( this one REALLY bothered me) My personal story: I chose this location because it was very close to my house at the time during the time I was living in Norwalk. I rented a room that was inside of a 2 story building (building I). It was a 7 x 10 and was very clean & roomy. On a hot day it wouldn't be very hot inside. I don't know if it was air-conditioned because it didn't feel cold and chilly, but def cool. On days I had school at Cerritos College I would often head to my storage facility with french fries & a sundae from McDonalds & set up my laptop and watch Netflix. I had an office chair and a dresser in there so it was a nice set up. I had free data, so I wasn't using their wi-fi. That would of been a cool perk! Anyways, every year they would hike up the rent. I initially started in 2013 with a bill that was less than $100. It is now May of 2018 & my bill ended up about $130. My dad recently moved from Temecula to Downey & said I could keep all my storage stuff at his house since I had returned to grad school and had been trying to find ways to save money. He told me he would be aiming to move during Memorial Day weekend in May. So, in April I called Your Self Space Storage (Norwalk) & spoke to Carla? Carol? & told them the situation. She told me that I need to give a 2 weeks notice when I am ready to move out. The most important question I needed to ask was whether or not I needed to pay for May's rent. When I asked she looked up my personal account. She told me that my bill was due on the 19th of every month & the company gives an 8 day grace period to allow you to pay your rent before assessing any late fees. She told me if I could have all of my stuff moved out by the 27th then there was no need to pay. I was happily surprised. So, on May 14th I called and gave my 2 week notice, they asked when my stuff would be gone and I told them by the end of May, on Memorial Day weekend I would be packing and making trips to take all my stuff out. On May 25th I went to take my stuff out and when I went in to punch in my code I was denied access to enter. My 2 weeks hadn't even come yet (technically it was Day 11) & they already locked me out (I'm assuming because the 19th past and my bill wasn't paid - but the 8 day grace period would have been on the 27th). When I went to tell them that I was locked out and needed help getting in because I was moving out, I was met with attitude and questioned with why I haven't paid. I explained what the lady on the phone told me and the lady in the office (Carla) looked at me like I was crazy or making this information up. Instead of trying to be helpful she just tells me she'll let me in but I had to figure out how to get out. She ended up forgetting to let me in and another car let me in as Carla close the office gates to leave for the day. It took me 2 days to get all my stuff out and when I came back on a Sunday (when the office was closed) I was like GREAT how am I going to get in??? Well, I figured my code was made up of my storage number and the number of the letter I was in. Letter I = the number 8. So, I typed in someone else's storage number in my building and hoped for the best. First time I failed, & second time I succeeded. So thanks Ricky in 2**!! If Carla would have given me a temporary pass or asked how long I needed,etc I would have been happy with my 5 years of service.
