I've been intrigued by this place since I moved here, but just got around to trying the food here after working in the hospital that morning. I've missed the kolaches and breakfast tacos I loved eating for breakfast in Texas, and I was so excited to find that Yoyo donuts has them! I had a bacon egg and cheese breakfast taco which was perfectly cooked, not the best I've ever had but nostalgic for the kind I used to have. I also had a strawberry cake donut which was a little too sweet for my taste but overall, good. Unfortunately they were out of many of the donut types I saw on yelp that I wanted to try by 11am on a Saturday. I guess that just means I'll have to be back! read more

I used to stop by once a week before work to grab a blueberry donut. Nothing beats their donuts. You can go plain glazed, it's bready and sweet and filling- perfect size and you only need one to feel full, but I can never just get one. They have super fun flavors like Oreo and strawberry, and they have a large range of other breakfast goodies. Worth a stop for sure! read more

I discovered this place by way of Groupon, this place has been there for years & I passed by it not knowing! A hidden gem ! I got the Reese's peanut butter donut & it was perfect ! The donut was soft & covered with real peanut butter on the top! Yummy creamy peanut butter! It was truly enjoyable! The staff was extremely friendly & helpful! A must visit when in Bham! Went by today for the first time and got a peppermint boba tea and blueberry doughnut. The tea was perfect (flavor strong and boba prepared well) and the doughnut was delish! It was a traditional doughnut with fresh blueberry glaze on it (it had little pieces of blueberry in the glaze). Yummy!!! read more

Now these are the kind of donuts I like!! Perfect. Krispy Kreme donuts are not really donuts to me, but I eat them. Dunkin donuts are cold, dry and tasteless, though I'm sure someone will disagree with me. I'm still not certain why folks love Dunkin'. But I digress. YoYo is the kind of donut I grew up with...soft and flavorful, but just the right amount of glaze. It's a donut that you could eat without glaze because there's just the perfect amount of sweetness to the dough. I love that there are several different flavors and sizes. The day I went in I tried regular glaze and a strawberry glaze. Strawberry glaze was a mini size and just right. I plan to try the apple fritters and bear claws the next time I go back. And the owner(s) were so nice and really fun. She warmed my donut for me without even asking. I told her it was my first time there and it was mid-day so I guess she wanted me to get an idea of what they are like when hot and fresh first thing in the morning. So, for some reason I had been craving donuts. So I took the advice of Miss Alden S, our lovely CM, and headed on over to YoYo on a Saturday afternoon. I had never been before, so I was a little afraid that they would be like Krispy Kreme, you know, way on the uber sweet side, likely to put a person in a diabetic shock. Luckly for me, their donuts are quite the opposite. Sure, some of them are sweet, but I didn't feel like I needed to skip 10 meals after I ate one. Ok, well there is one, the maple bacon donut, that was freaking fantastic. I did feel bad after having a bite. But I didn't care. My mom and I got enough donuts to share with 4 other people, plus extras. The little sweet treats are quite unique. They had a lemon pistachio and some sort of coconut pecan donut. For the sweet tooth of the house, we got him a bear claw. And I just had to get an apple fritter, that I ate over two days. Was delicious. I tried the sausage and cheese biscuit, and it was so good. She even warmed it up for me at the shop. They also bake bread, and somehow, I don't know what we did to deserve it, but we were given for free a load of freshly baked white bread. We were told to try it and let her know how it is. Um, it was yum in my tum. And made for great toast. 5 stars for the unique variety of sweet goods, along with a couple of savories. 5 stars for the wonderful service. I will definitely return when I have a sugar craving again. read more

I could not believe how good the banana fritter was. I'm not a big banana person but this was good. I stopped by for a quick donut, saw this and had to try it. I even "hedged my bet" by getting 6 donut holes in case the fritter was not good. It was great. (AND I ate the doholes too.) read more

I stopped by this morning because I've never noticed it before. It's tucked away in the shopping center and not easily seen from the main road. Thought I'd try something different from my usual trips to Shipley's and KK. What compelled me to stop here was Yelp - from seeing the pictures of the business I discovered that they have bacon maple glazed donuts! Omg I ordered just one. When I went to pay with my debit card the lady told me I have to spend $3.00 to use my card. (The donut was like $1.63 and I don't carry cash ever.) I told her I'd get another donut so I can meet the spending requirement. She said no, just enjoy and have a nice day. I insisted on getting another donut so I could pay for it, but the lady (I assume she's the owner) insisted back and told me no. Lol I told her thank you and that I will make sure to come back with my kids (because with them I'm buying a dozen at least!) This maple donut (not counting the bacon) was better than Shipley's maple donut which is much heavier. The frosting smelled just like Mrs. Butterworth's and the donut was light and fluffy - reminded me of a pancake breakfast once the bacon is factored in. I love it! read more

Excellent glazed donut. In the Dunkin vs Krispy Kreme war, I am in the Dunkin camp. YoYo's donut was cake style, but lighter than Dunkin. It had a great glaze, but not overwhelming sweet, ala Krispy Kreme. I'll go back for more of their other donuts. Very nice employees too read more

For the second time in a row (waited almost 3 months before returning, due to my previous experience here), I have entered this establishment with my usual polite and positive attitude, and proceeded to be treated like an absolute inconvenience by the staff... It literally takes at most 2 minutes to fulfill an order of a few doughnuts... And these people act so rushed and impatient that it straight up makes you feel guilty for even granting yourself the rare indulgence you are about to partake in. The next time my girlfriend and I feel like rewarding ourselves with an unhealthy breakfast food, I think we'll just stick to the Awful Waffle or The International House of Diabetes and Heart Disease... anything but subject ourselves to these people. read more

3.5 for this place but I decided to round up because... you know, donuts. Anyways, the donuts themselves are generally good. The caramel apple pecan donut was the best one I tried (and it was good). Their cronut was also quite tasty. It did not really have the texture of a ny cronut, but it tasted good and that's what counts. The apple fritter was decent as well although I thought it was a little more well done than I like. The nice lady behind the counter had all kinds of trouble with our coffee orders which were basic-- a 16.oz coffee with cream and a 16 oz vanilla latte. We ended up (after giving the order several times) getting a 12.oz black coffee and a 16 oz latte without vanilla.... close enough I suppose. Anyway, good donuts with a good selection. read more

I have an affinity for independent donut shops - this was just okay. Not bad, not great. I realized after I left that one of the donuts in my bag was not the one I asked for (I asked for a Dutch apple fritter and got a regular one), but since they were next to each other in the case, it was likely just an honest mistake (plus I should have been paying attention while they were bagged). Side note: I hate this particular parking lot because it's way too small for traffic to flow through efficiently in and out (though that is not the donut shop's fault). read more

My first time visiting with my sisters. I like homemade speciality donuts so I search for one using Yelp and this how I found this place. There was fairly a good selection so I brought a dozen of mixed ones. The owner or cashier there was very nice and helpful to us and she suggested which ones to try. I am impressed with this place. Ive only tasted one so far and the donut was so soft and moist. So delicious! This will be my first choice to come for donuts. I will pick a specialty donut shop over KK or DD any day. read more

I went with a friend on a Saturday morning and what an awesome place. The staff was friendly and helpful, as they were able to give us all the details of each of the donuts. They also made several recommendations and told us which ones were their best sellers, etc. There was a small line but they get you through quickly and very efficiently! All the donuts we tasted and sampled were tasty, and each had their unique characteristics. A bonus was that they offer Bubble/Milk Tea. Definitely will go back! read more

I want this place to be good but it's just okay. The fritters - apple and banana - are good but half the time they don't have them. Half the time they don't have much at all, in fact. I don't know if they just don't make much or what, but most of the trays are usually empty. Amazing donuts and tacos. Cheese dip and salsa were good as well, although I wish the salsa had more cilantro and onion. We had a great experience eating in the dining area with comfortable little pillows on all of the seats. Staff was friendly and quick. 10/10 would go again read more

What can I say. I have searched high and low for someone who understood how to make a really good yeast donut in B'ham. Turns out, I just had to wait for YOYO to open. They are delicious. I must say that my favorite so far is the apple fritter--which they threw in when I ordered a dozen of donuts ( I don't know if that is the rule, but it happened to me--and boy was I glad it did). I absolutely love the fact that everything there is baked from scratch. Imagine, a vanilla creamed filled donut--that does not have a vegetable shortening base. What's more, the service is incredible. The ladies (that is who I have met thus far) are wonderful. The really do make you feel welcomed. read more

I saw the YoYo Tacos Sign out front and that drew me in. The shrimp taco was so delicious! The fish taco was also good, but the shrimp was my favorite. They are deceptively simply made, but have an explosion of taste. Each taco was made in a small soft flour tortilla, with lettuce, white cheese and some sort of fabulous sauce. I ordered my tacos to go, at lunchtime. When I paid, the nice man who I believe is also the hero who cooked my tacos, offered me a free donut. With plans to give to my son, I accepted. Went this morning for some good boba tea and breakfast. The food wasn't that good and the boba tea was almost inedible. I should have sent it back. The 3 uncontrollable kids from the yuppy mommy and the hipster that made the guy pick out 3 doughnuts until he got the "right" one didn't help. If you want good boba tea, go to ThirsTea on 280. Was there yesterday around 9am. Doughnuts were definitely fresh. They were out of the maple bacon, unfortunately. Had the Reese's peanut butter cup and the caramel apple. The caramel apple was very good, however, the caramel was overcooked to a solid, fudge like state and there was hardly any Apple compote. Tasted good, but there was definitely no caramel or Apple flavor... Reeses doughnut was terrible. It looked like it was a filled doughnut but there was nothing inside!! It had plain old peanut butter smeared on the top with a skimpy drizzle of chocolate and a quarter of a peanut butter cup. Seriously??!! Won't be back. Gave it 2 stars for the freshness. Make the trip to Heavenly Donuts out on Cahaba river road for really good donuts. Night and day! read more

I randomly stopped in one morning because I was super early to work and had passed by this place once thinking, "man, I would love a donut." Anywho, I was pleasantly surprised by this shop! They have tons of choices and the place is cute and clean. That visit, I got a glazed donut and their coconut pecan donut. HEAVEN. Their donuts are not too sweet, not too heavy so you can eat two of them and not feel guilty. The glazed donut is a big donut and I find that super impressive! It is soft and fluffy and seriously what I imagine heaven's clouds being made of... The second visit I got their maple bacon donut and a chocolate cream-filled. I gave the cream-filled away (because I am so sweet) and ate the maple bacon. Again, it is sweet, but not too sweet and not too heavy. That donut is fantastic! Everyone needs to try this place! It is affordable (I got two donuts and a coffee for 4.50) and high quality. Wonderful service as well!! LOVE LOVE LOVE! read more
