Wagyu nigiri
Cam H.

If you're a fan of nigiri, this spot is a must-visit. Their nigiri pieces are HUGE. I thought it was worth the price. Each piece was generously portioned with thick cuts of fresh, flavorful fish that melt in your mouth. What really stood out was the thoughtful garnishes -- each one added a subtle layer of umami that made every bite feel distinct and intentional, rather than just fish on rice. My personal favorites were the scallop, salmon belly, and wagyu. They were incredibly buttery, rich, and perfectly balanced. The toro, which is usually my go-to at sushi restaurants, was a bit of a letdown here. It lacked the fattiness I usually crave, but everything else more than made up for it. Overall, it's a great place if you're looking for quality nigiri that feels both traditional and creative. Service was good.

A new sushi gem in Austin! From the moment you walk in, the space gives off omakase vibes elegant, intimate, and stylish but the experience is refreshingly casual and much more affordable than a true omakase. The restaurant only has high-top tables, which adds to its chic, modern feel. I didn't know what to expect when my friends brought me here, but wow I was blown away. The cuts of fish for the nigiri were incredibly generous almost too big to fit in one bite and every piece was fresh and flavorful. The hand rolls were absolutely packed and just as delicious. My favorites were the wagyu, toro, tuna, yellowtail, pickled cucumber, and chu-toro. Everything tasted high-quality and well worth the price. They also have a solid wine and sake selection. I had a cup of sake that was tasty but quite small for $9 next time I'll definitely go for the $35 bottle instead. This place is 100% going on my go-to sushi list. Can't wait to come back again!

I've been to the other Yuki Handroll Bar location, and this one is very similar. The actual handrolls are quite tasty and the price isn't bad at all. I also like how large the nigiri fish pieces are, and you're getting a good bang for your buck. One thing that did really annoy me was that I was very clear when I first came in that I wanted some handrolls and nigiri pieces to go but that I'd order after I was done dining in, and they placed that order for dine in... but I hadn't even given my dine in order yet because I was waiting for my friend to arrive. I had to pay extra for the dine in pieces of nigiri that I meant for take out, and those pieces I did not want for myself. I ended up paying an extra $40-50 because they didn't fix the mistake.

Great sashimi. Not much a fan of the hand rolls or nigiri only because I am not able to consume white starch. Amazing big slices of fresh tuna, yellowtail and salmon. I was full! The clam miso hit the spot for me. The edamame was served best that I expected, peeled and more fresh in my palate. The server was nice, although he was the only one but good thing the ratio was good enough. No booths, just high bars. I think I'd prefer booths though I think it's a sushi bar thing, the squat tables I still prefer. Not too comfy, though I like that they have hooks for purses under the table. The sushi bar---though unable to understand us, the server was always ready to translate. The food quality was worth the price. I'd say for sashimi---highly recommended!

I like the way Yuki rolls! In a city that lacks handroll options, I'm pleased to see that Yuki's seconds location is in the north end and still maintains the same level of quality. There's a decent amount of seating at the bar where you can watch the sushi chefs at work. You can order individual handroll or you can get a 3, 4 or 5 handroll set, which is a better value. Once I placed my order, the handrolls seemed to arrive pretty quickly. All in all, it was a great experience and definitely plan on returning.

Definitely enjoyed having a late lunch here after a movie down the road. There's wrap around seating around the sushi bar. You order with magic markers on a sheet and you can fill in with the chalkboard specials as well. I got 2 rolls and 2 orders of nigiri and a clam miso soup. The soup was good but would have liked more than 4 clams but the broth was tasty. The nigiri is huge each peice is like two pieces of fish and not overwhelmed with sushi rice too. The fish is good quality and buttery. Will definitely order more nigiri or sashimi next time. The hand rolls are pretty good too like mini tacos but sushi and seaweed wrapper. Service was very attentive and it was nice to see the two ladies behind the counter assemble the nigiri and hand rolls. This place is definitely more value for money than the hand roll place downtown and probably equally as good fish. If you are near 620 this is your stop.

We had a lovely date here on Friday right when the doors opened at 11 am. I don't think my six and three years old would be able to come because of the seating layout. Many of my neighborhood moms raved about their hand rolls so to support the business, it was a must to pop in for a visit. Kevin made sure we knew what we were doing and was friendly and helpful the entire time. Other staff also checked on us periodically to make sure we had a great experience. Anyway, once we marked our order on the laminated sheet, they started working. We were never rushed and they would actually check every so often to see if we finished our food before making the next roll. I ordered 3 hand rolls (scallop, crab, and yellowtail) plus the anago special to share with my husband and felt quite full. The scallop and crab handrolls were nice but the seasoning made it a little hard to taste the ingredients. The presentation of the anago was amazing and fun. However they're on the sweeter side and we're more into traditional presentations. We were well taken care of by the staff. We sat in at 11 am and left at 11:30am sharp. It's an appropriate place to grab a quick fancy lunch during the weekday. Come give them a try and support. We need more businesses here!

A welcome addition to the neighborhood im the old Nik's Italian building The first thing you notice is how the restaurant is mostly stool seating around the meal prep area where you see the chefs at work. In addition to hand rolls they have sushi, nigiri, a few appetizers, and.dessert. My suhi and handrolls were very tasty and fresh. The waiter was friendly and very helpful.

Fun atmosphere!

Love this White glove sushi, Intimate, chill-luscious vibe. They are very passionate about prep. Bar style is very posh! Definitely worth the visit.

Great little place for some generously sized ngiri and temaki. You have to be a proper sushi lover, not the douse everything with mayo, avocado and soy sauce type. Not a giant menu but they have some good selection of fresh fishes including kanpachi, chu toro... Hard to tell from pics but each of those ngiri is 2 regularly sized ones at any other place. Even though not one of our top favorite sushi places in Austin I am grateful for it since it's so close to where we live, and we don't have to drive to central Austin or downtown to quell our sushi cravings!

Didn't get any hand rolls at the restaurant but decided to order regular sushi rolls for delivery. Packaging was beautiful (wood) and the many different rolls we tried (salmon and cucumber, spicy California, dragon, avocado cucumber, etc) were all fresh and tasty, although on the sloppy side - half of the pieces fell apart once we picked them up - but overall, taste wise, absolutely worth it. Rice was perfect texture. Really looking forward to dining in.

Helps that it's always a reservation for one...vs multiple people. This is tucked inside the Holey Moley in the rear....reservation for 8:30 and they come out to welcome everyone before ushering into the restaurant. Nice, quaint chefs counter space inside and I believe the idea is to give a traditional Japanese local restaurant feel so the space is designed to just be big enough. This used to be a bedroom when the building was a hostel. I was pleasantly surprised when Nicole, upon checking me in remember who I was and welcomed me back. Not only that the chef did as well! They are both amazing and so full of knowledge. After being sat they go through several things about the history, items in the restaurant, and then drink service is offered and the meal begins. You get to select the chop stick holder and chop sticks you'd like to use. I asked, they have at least a dozen I believe different chop stick holder options. They also do s personalized wood coaster with your name burnt into it. The selections were amazing with each one having a unique flavor that melted in your mouth. I added the sake and cocktail pairing which Nicole does amazing. I let her know I still kept the origami crane she last time was still on my counter at home. They are toooo damn cut to just throw away. I mean look at them! Anybody during the service they are interactive with everyone engaging in different conversations. With such an intimate space it's great to get introduced to others and's have as great evening.

The intimate, speakeasy setting is such a vibe! Hidden behind a bookcase tucked away in Holey Moley, Chef Saine and his small team bring you an incredible 14-course experience with top-tier ingredients sourced directly from local farmers in Japan. With only 6 seats per session, this is a cozy experience and one I definitely could not recommend more. QUICK FACTS: - Parking? Yes, located in East Austin, there is plenty of street parking. - Reservations can be tricky to land, but you can grab weeknight ones if you're flexible. - Pricing is about $170/person, with the option to add on drinks and extra bites (3 extra for $45/person). Tax and tip not included. My favorite bites were the maguro blue fin (an incredible start to the night!), the buttery Kanpachi amberjack, and the Wagyu ribeye with salted egg yolk (steak and eggs). Everything is stellar, and the Belgium chocolate ice cream finish with a little serenading from Chef is a great way to wrap up the experience. Service is top notch!

Both of the sandos were perfect. The wagyu beef sando had a little bit more flavor but it was slight and both are worth trying. The service was stellar and they were easy to book on OpenTable I also tried the green tea mocktail and found it to be light and refreshing and I was happy that it wasn't super sweet My two favorite items were: 1. The Edamame - which were charred in a way that I feel like I've never experienced it before and had such great flavor. 2. The scallop roll had a thinly sliced shaved truffle on top that made the roll simple yet out of this world. Shout out to the manager who came by just to check in. It was a dreary Friday afternoon but you could not tll that from the folks sitting at the bar enjoying their lives in Uchiko.
