I've been going here for a long time and I like the Yuko system. This is the second time though that stylist didn't dry full or flat iron hair twice. When it dries the roots look smooth but the rest of the hair is frizzy. Stylist stated that he's not supposed to do the rest of hair (blow dry and flat iron twice fully) but I've seen the process come out better when it is dried and flat ironed the first time as well. Also, for the final flat iron, I felt that they flat ironed the hair too thick which didn't provide the full flowing effect I'm used to. Also, I'm concerned that flat ironing over in thick strands with heat might damage the hair and is part of the issue. Something to look out for next time I schedule. I provided two stars because again the top is smooth, and shiny. read more

This Review is overdue. After trying many stylist, from Beverly Hills to Newport Beach and wasting $$$ on incompetent stylists, I finally found Yuko salon. My stylist, June, is absolutely phenomenal. He is extremely knowledgeable on hair chemistry and has never damaged a single strand in the last 5 years he's been doing the yuko Japanese treatment on my hair. Nobu does an amazing job with the hair straightening! I have been getting my hair done by him for years. My sister also gets her hair done by Nobu. My stylist who cuts my hair told me that his is the best straightening she has seen and told me to keep coming back to Nobu. It is silky, not dried out and keeps my hair straight. After about 7 months I can see where my hair is starting to grow out, but I usually can hold out for about a year. So worth it, especially during the summer months where I go to the beach, pool and don't have time to constantly dry and straighten my hair. I forgot to mention that whoever straightened my hair didn't even introduce himself. Also I'm noticing some of my ends are crimped from the shotty way he chose to straighten it. Literally CRIMPED. Probably from the way he straightened my hair by going against the grain and sloppily bring it back down 2 - 3 times in a row. Some of my hair even has a slight burn smell to it. I just can't believe I spent my time and money on this TERRIBLE permanent procedure done here. I've had this done before in Beverly Hills and it was an ACE job. Beyond disappointed. He didn't comb it thru and straighten it. He just grabbed a piece and sloppily did it. My only other option is to go somewhere else to PRAY GOD HOPEFULLY be able to fix it. And pray my hair doesn't get over processed, also because it definitely smelled slightly burned when I washed it this morning. I'm disgusted and furious. This place is GODAWFUL. My hair looks GODAWFUL. I just want to add that there was no ill will exchanged between us. Everything was very cordial, his demeanor was even pleasant. But my hair is not entirely straight and much too fuzzy still. It was a TERRIBLE AWFUL job! That I'll have to try correcting elsewhere. I'm not going to blow dry my hair and style it everyday. Jun is such an amazing hairstylist. I have been looking for a great hairstylist for years and could not find till today. He took his time to consult with me about my hair condition and style. He is so knowledgeable and knows what would be best for my hair and look. I have never met a hairstylist that actually this informative. He is also honest as well which I really appreciate. I wanted to dye one color but he recommended that my hair is too damage and I should wait. I have been struggling with my damaged hair since I went blonde. I appreciate his honesty since other stylists always suggested that it's okay to dye and my hair came out brittle-like texture and excessive tangling. It looked terrible and I always wonder why (duh!). OMG. I took his recommendation. I didn't dye and cut my hair short. It was the best choice! I went in randomly today without an appointment for a men's haircut. I picked the place since it was close to where I was having lunch and because I could tell it was a Japanese hair salon. I have to say I found a hidden gem. For $35 (I guess men's haircuts are usually $40), I got one of the best haircuts I've gotten in a long time. I got my hair cut by a man named Jun who used to work at one of those high end salons in Beverly Hills. You're essentially getting super high end skills for a very reasonable price. This place is meticulous with the details vs most other salons I've been to that charge a whole lot more. Like how they let the water run so its warm before they start washing your hair (most places just wet your hair right away and ask if the temperature is ok, "no it's not it's fricken cold you idiot") or how Jun tells you exactly what direction your hair grows, cuts it accordingly and gives you pointers on how to style it. I know I didn't give them good direction on what I was looking for in a haircut but they asked a lot of questions to figure it out and cut my hair perfectly. I'm glad to have found a real pro and will definitely be going back. read more

Tucked away in a business park off of Carson Street, you would never suspect a five star salon hidden inside. Referred by a friend, I went in skeptical and came out a believer. Clean and modern, the salon provides a great relaxed atmosphere with a separate waiting area for kids/husbands. Went to Jun for a cut and antifrizz treatment. He took a long look at my hair and after the initial consultation, he said that I would be better off getting a deep condition treatment, the cheaper option!! He explained to me that my hair was dry and that was causing the frizz. You could tell by his meticulous attention to detail that he really cared about the health of my hair and my experience at the salon. He took his time and was super gentle. What an amazing experience ! I researched places to get Japanese hair straightening in Los Angeles as I've had it it done overseas and it's the only way to go in terms of different types of straightening. The salon was modern and super clean. The staff were so friendly and very easy going . Attention to detail with the actual process and my hair came out better than ever ! Jun Saito is a master stylist. He civilized my unruly frizzy dry and color damaged hair. He analyzed the hair before recommending anti-frizz treatment over the straightening treatment. Had the yuko (permanent hair straightening) treatment done as a touch-up on my roots. I usually get my hair straightened in Germany (CHI treatment), but was in LA when my roots had grown out and this procedure and the results were even better.
