I went in to get a perm and cut…read more The vibe was very nice. Very respectful. His space was very clean and tidy with what seems, state of the art tools. I have had fine hair all my life, but even still my hair has always taken well to perms, always. Even the last one over a year ago. The only complaint I had was the use of larger rods which made my hair more wavy curl than curly. Nori had said that my hair wouldn't take well to a perm, but because I know my hair's history, I asked him do it anyway and he agreed to do it. First he used a more gentle solution because of my pervious perm over a year ago (did not ask if I wanted that), and I didn't know until he was already in the process of using it on my hair... my hair needs the stronger solution. Second he did a loose curl wrap instead of a tight curl wrap. With fine hair (or at least my hair) it needs to be curled up against the scalp. I think he did this because it was a hot treatment perm (which I never had before) vs a cold treatment perm. He didn't give an option. So the perm came out ok on the bottom because it already had the previous perm that was there from a year ago. But the top part of my hair had virtually no difference. If you have fine hair and looking to get a perm, I would not recommend Nori. I'm sure he does really well with all other hair services. To his credit, the perm itself, aside from the lack of curl, was a healthy perm (did not harm my hair) and he did give a very nice cut prior to the perm process. I think if he would have explained his treatment process and how it differed from what I had previously experienced, that may have helped my decision to go elsewhere, before wasting over $200 I had taken a year 1/2 to save. Again I think he probably does really well with the other services he provides. I just think for women (or men) with fine hair, you may want to think twice if you're looking to get a perm.

We also did a trial run of curls to see how long it would hold if I decided to get it done a day before my nurse graduation this month. Hands down they had the best price and most of the moms raved about it anyway. This place is what I wanted. No flash, just a hole in the wall no frills place where good work would be the standard. Miki did my hair back in March and 2.5 hours later my hair was perfection. As usual I asked for 0.5" to the root to be untouched so my hair wouldn't be super flat after and it was just now I needed it. My hair was about 2/3 down my back and miki meticulously but efficiently worked her magic. She was so darn sweet, too. We moved to Orange County from Redondo, so add this as another thing I'll miss big time from the South Bay! I've gotten my hair Japanese straightened since 2004. This place has hands down done the best job. I didn't end up with fried frazzled ends in random spots like I have in the past and my hair was even processed balayage! Thank you Miki! You are awesome! When I retouch mine I'm coming back. Fo Sho. Don't question coming here. It's the right choice.

There is pride in all the stylists that have taken up space, and I love this! Honestly, everyone seems pretty happy to be working there. 2) My stylist, Gilberto- He's amazing! Gilberto has been a licensed cosmetologist for a long while. He keeps up on trends, color, and cuts. He is a straight shooter when talking hair, and won't mix words. He is a true professional; so kind in his recommendations, knowledgeable, and is amazing with color correction! I've also had him give me a blowout a time or two for special occasions, and as always, they look fantastic. Gilberto's pricing is on par, he will take his time with whatever you want done, and is flexible on scheduling where he can be. He is one of the best stylists I've ever had.
