In short: I visited Yusuke at the newest Solana Beach location. Very cute and clean salon space! Yusuke is taking all necessary Covid safety measures and I felt very safe in his studio. I absolutely love the cut and layers he suggested and the color is amazing! Would recommend visiting Yusuke to anyone and everyone! The salon is two blocks from the beach and in a very cute boutique area. After doing a lot of DIY hair dye and bleach, my hair was pretty damaged with uneven color. I came to Yusuke with fried hair and no idea what I wanted. He worked with me on finding a good color match without bleach so as not to add to the hair breakage, and suggested a layered cut to help with the waves and curls my hair had as a result of the bleach. I am absolutely in love with the cut and layers, it is so flattering and Yusuke really knows how to create a flattering look for you specifically, not just an overall good cut. The layers perfectly frame my face and I have gotten so many compliments in the past week! Without using bleach, Yusuke added some depth to my brown color and highlighted some of my face-framing pieces and they look gorgeous. Thank you so much, can't wait to visit again soon! read more

I'm so excited I live close enough that I could have my hair cut by Yusuke-san again. I had gotten my haircuts from him in the past around 2005 to 2008, while he was still at a salon in San Diego. Those were the years I've actually liked my hair and felt like I looked the prettiest. Ok, ok, maybe I was just simply more youthful back then, but I do like the haircut I've gotten from him recently too! Now that he has his own studio, he's basically your personal stylist when you come here. There is one seat, one sink, and one mirror. It's very personable. Many of his current clientele are people he's known for many years from previous salons he's worked at, like myself. That says a lot about his character, and many people trust his skills as a stylist. I highly recommend giving him a call! The salon is located in a mall (Hermosa Pavilion) where there's a collection of many salons in one suite (Salon Republic). Entrance to parking is from 16th St. I actually got lost once I was parked and out of the car the first time, but as a reference it's located on the floor above the 24 hour Fitness. His studio is number 56 up the stairs after you enter Salon Republic, just follow the signs. read more

I love Yusuke's place and I love Yusuke!! He's so personable and makes you feel straight at home. His studio is ADORABLE. I think Yusuke really just wants the best for your hair and all the different things that go along with that--which means how your hair looks, how healthy it can be, how it looks for your skin tone and face! He treated my head better than it has ever felt anywhere else. I wanted a light balayage, and I did my base layer today. My hair feels soft and still very shiny, in terms of health, it feels probably even better than when it came in (and I actually went to another salon yesterday for a cut since I didn't book an appointment to get a cut with Yusuke early enough). We're gonna take it slow to get me lighter which I don't mind at all. Absolutely delightful! 10/10 would recommend. read more

I'm SO happy I found the perfect stylist :) Now, I am very picky about hair stylists. I easily go 1 year or longer without cutting my hair when I am in between stylists. That's where I was when my last stylist moved away and my friend introduced me to Yusuke and Creative Studio Flow. First of all, and most importantly, he's awesome at what he does. Most decent stylists can make you look good the day of/day after your haircut. With Yusuke, I get compliments even 2 weeks after my haircut! Secondly, he is SUPER chill and personable. If I'm spending 1-2 hours of one-on-one time with my stylist, I need someone with a good personality, and he's amazing. I love that he makes you feel comfortable enough that you can easily ask questions or ask for his opinion on new styles (not to mention, his salon is just him so I already feel more comfortable asking questions rather than in a big salon where people are sitting next to me). And he's honest about what he thinks will work with your hair, but never pushes his opinion on you. On top of that, he also takes your personality into the fact when making recommendations. For example, he knows me well enough now that I'm lazy and will not wake up 15 minutes earlier to use any product or curling/straightening iron, so if I show interest in a hairstyle that requires extra work, he will tell me straight up, but not to dissuade me, just simply as a "FYI, if you do that, you will have do to X to keep it looking good" (And I usually opt not to do that, cuz again, I'm lazy :) ) And I also love the online appointment system. With my job schedule I easily forget to make phone calls during business hours. It's SO convenient to be able to make an appointment online or on my phone at the middle of the night and get a reminder text the day before! Finally, I love that he's not in it to make money, he really wants to make YOU happy. You can probably tell his price range is very reasonable to begin with, but I also have a story: I had made a cut & color retouch appointment, but on the day of, he saw my hair and said "Actually your color looks fine, probably doesn't need re-touching.... we can just cut today and you can retouch next time" which of course saved me extra money (yay!) and time (he knew I had an event that night to get ready for) but also made me re-appreciate him, since he could've easily just kept his mouth shut since I would've just done whatever he recommended. To be honest, I was reluctant to review Creative Studio Flow for over a year now since I don't want it to get harder to book my appointments!! But I'm feeling nice today :) read more

Yuusuke has been doing my and my sons hair since 2012 when he was originally at piano hair salon. We go to see him every 1.5 to 2 mos on the dot to keep our hair looking fresh! We have gone almost 4 mos without getting our hair cut or colored because of COVID shut down. We finally came out of our bunkers to get some TLC for our hair and as always Yuusuke did not disapoint!! Both my son and I have respiratory issues so we were a bit freaked out to go out but he made us feel so safe. The building is pretty much shut down so you have to walk up the escalator stairs (which were turned off when we went) we then had to call Yuusuke when we got to the double doors of salon republic and he came down to get us with mask, face shield and gloves. He spends 30 minutes in between clients disinfecting his salon and wiping anything and everything down from the precious client. He even took a covid 19 safety class to make sure that we are all super duper safe. Thank you Yuusuke for not only spending so much time to make our hair so pretty but also keeping is safe! read more
