This was the ultimate culinary highlight of our trip. Located in an adorable little hacienda, we don't come to Playa del Carmen for over the top fancy places. We have our fill of that in LA. We come for the culture, the food, and the natural beauty it has to offer. La Senda is serving up protein rich, fiber rich, and nutrient rich vegan foods. Everything is vegan, from their creamy salsas, to their cheeses. We were so impressed with the flavors and the prices were very reasonable. Our favorites were the cafe de la holla, hot oats, bean molletes, and mushroom tacos. Check out our food pix for mouth-watering moments. Many dishes are made to order with care so be conscious that they may take up to 20 minutes to prepare so come with time to relax. Buen Provecho!!
We read good reviews about this restaurant and decided to go for dinner. The vibe of this restaurant is more like a cafe than a restaurant. The service is ok. We ordered Mexicolor bowl and Sahara bowl. The bowl quantity was decent for 1 person and food was fresh and delicious and the topping sauces were vegan and nice. We also tried cocoa frappe and cocoa cake and both these items were very good. The prices are decent. Not expensive. Worth a try if you are vegetarian and visiting Playa del Carmen.
A vegan place? AWESOME! This is especially refreshing if you need a break from the heavier/greasier foods of the area. There are a lot of good beverages; my wife and I enjoyed some aguas de cacao, which are a different but tasty way to start the day. We shared champis al pastor, which wasn't too bad. Make sure you request some salsa with it (watch out though; it's hot!). Multigrain toast with mango marmalade were a fine accompaniment. The best part of our experience was the Hotcake with fruit and a dark chocolate sauce - it is heavenly. I would get this again. When I return to PDC, this is at the top of my list of places to eat.
Love!! Great smoothie bowls, actually the best I've ever had. Spirulina bowl changed my life! Vegan quesadillas were a hit too. Super friendly staff as well. Also tried the daily special and it was amazing as well. Not a fan of the coca bowl tho. Reminded me of very expensive chocolate cereal.
I had no idea Playa was a vegan mecca, but here we are and it is so. La Senda is the best. Everything is homemade, from the sauces to the veg burgers to the booch, and it is ALL delicious. I will keep returning until it's time to leave!
Absolutely delicious! Loved sitting in the back room. The nachos were my favorite and the enfrijoladals. But we didn't like the mole sauce. It was too sweet! Went there 3-4 times for lunch and dinner. Was our go to.
Food is so fresh and huge portions! I had food from the breakfast lunch and dinner menu while I was in Mexico! Loved it all! Their juice is really good too!
Even if you are not a vegan you have to try this place. Enchiladas and the lentil burger are delicious. We are regularly at this place, juices are also great. The vibe of the place is really relax.
Pretty surprised to have found a vegan place out here but HERE IT IS!! After reading the Yelp reviews I decided to come here with my sister around like 7 pm. We got the guac to start out which was really good but the chips were hard and like really crispy and took away from the flavor of the guac. When I tired to order my main dish they did not have the falafel burger and another dish I wanted because they were popular dishes that day and did not have them in that moment. So I went with the Warm Salad which I thought was good but nothing amazing and my sister had the pesto pasta which I liked better than the Salad. The waiter was nice and the place itself is also nice and in a good location. Would recommend going earlier in the day though.
Me: What do you want for di- Viv: Vegetables. After almost a week of greasy hands, meat sweats and much too large portions in the states, La Senda was a very welcome relief and a very wise choice. Particularly after we made the mistake of ordering burritos for lunch. Note to self and all other Mexico rookies, a true Mexican burrito is not for the faint hearted. It's just meat. Allll meat. And a tiny bit of cheese. But I digress. La Senda gives you All the Vegetables! and with a choice of a western or Mexican flavour. The mushrooms pastor had a delightful charred flavour, just like its meat based alternative, and the salads could stand up against the best salad bars in California but at a fraction of the cost. Hot tip, listen to your waiters. My tacos came with three salsas - mild, medium and hot - and despite the stern warning from our server, I went for a big dollop of the hot. My tongue still hasn't recovered.

Upon first glance at la senda's menu and decor it would seem that this place is any regular old vegan restaurant: ruffage everywhere, exposed lighting, crisp Pinterest-like aesthetics, veggie burgers, zoodles, and salads salads salads. FEAR NOT, THIS IS NO AVERAGE VEGAN RESTAURANT! We ordered the Aztec cakes (both the mole and green sauce versions) and were thoroughly delighted by the saucy veggie stacks (with delicious almond cheese!). I found the mole really cocoa-y but my manfriend thoroughly loved it. Glancing at other people's salads I noticed the size and artistry of the plates: I wanna eat those salads forever. I accompanied my plate with the locally brewed jamaica kombucha and was mega impressed. While the service was not what I would call gregarious, our server was efficient, really well articulate in English, and informative. Her to-the-point style felt refreshing in comparison to many of the human sloths I've been served by in these kinds of vegan restos before. I would so love to return to try breakfast here- it seems like the real deal. Additionally maybe upon my next visit to the area I'll indulge in a stay at the hotel above the resto? I feel like easy access to la Senda is the Playa del Carmen dream. read more

Outstanding, cheap vegan food in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. We've had: -the lentil burger, -the garbanzo burger - we don't get a bun so you can choose an extra side like sweet potato mash, -also green juices which are fabulous but not for the faint of vegan heart - mine had cactus, spinach, parsley, ginger, lemon and a few other hefty ingredients. Very very fresh. -oat pancake filled with strawberries and bananas with a drizzle of cacao/date syrup (outstanding!!!) -sushi rolls filled with lots of vegetables -tabouli and hummus -wonderful teas and coffees.... There's numerous amazing things on the menu including a cashew based cheesecake. Everything is very flavorful, filling and inexpensive. We had dinner for two for less than $15. We love all the Mexican street food here but I can only eat so many pork tacos before I need some greens in my system. This place is perfect to "balance you out" while you enjoy all the other delicious foods in the area. read more

Absolutely excellent and one the best 100% vegan restaurants I have eaten at. It's cute and the service is great. The food is definitely made with LOVE and CARE. The menu is so extensive and each option is really great. I think I ate there once a day for the week I was visiting Tulum. My taxi fare cost more than two appetizers, 2 entrees and drinks. It was so worth it. If you are vegan and are looking for a great Mexican dining experience this is definitely a place to go to. Presentation was excellent and if you are lucky on a given evening you may have some beautiful music played by some random musicians. This little gem of a restaurant is why I will be visiting Playa Del Carmen again read more

I needed a health boost in playa del Carmen and I found it at La Senda. I had delicious mushroom and pineapple tacos with homemade salsa, relish and habanero sauce, accompanied by cold cacao with almond milk. I will be coming here for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the remainder of my stay. The staff is super helpful and recommended my dinner, and it was perfect. He even told me that I was ordering too much food. La Senda is a precious cafe, enjoy! read more

My friend and I stayed in Playa del Carmen for two days and we ate here four times. Everything was incredible, there are no bad choices. I loved that the menu had options of traditional Mexican foods with a vegan twist. My personal favorite was the Aztec cake with mole sauce. You have to try it read more

We arrived at La Senda in a bit of a rush as we had a reservation for a show. It is only a short distance from the bustling Avienda 5 but feels a million miles away. There is no outdoor seating but the interior is very light and airy. The waiter who greeted us was extremely helpful and explained the all vegan menu and which dishes would take the least time to prepare. The description of the bowl options sounded amazing so we selected a couple of dishes and sat back and waited. Before we knew it our food had arrived. The bowls were beautifully presented and as we tucked out taste buds were mesmerized by the delicate flavors and textures of the food. Sadly, we were in a hurry so had no time to try any more of the delicious food from the menu. The deserts looked tempting but we had to leave! Our experience at La Senda was terrific. The atmosphere of the restaurant was friendly and welcoming, the staff we met were helpful and accommodating. And as for the food - amazing! We highly recommend checking out this place if you are in Playa del Carmen. read more

La Senda is one of our all time favorite vegan restaurants! We have been there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Their crepe "salado" is our favorite. It is like a vegan omelette made with chickpea flour and filled with veggies. Their kale/quinoa salad was also amazing! I love their aqua frescas and other homemade drinks. We left Xcaret late one night and got there close to their closing time, they were nice enough to make us dinner and even made pancakes for the kids who were craving them from a previous visit. read more

Super cozy, awesome prices, great food. Do I need to say more?! Everything is fresh and there are options to please everyone. I do suggest the more traditional Mexican dishes as you really don't get more authentic than that. And it's completely vegan! The staff are just lovely, always happy to suggest a great juice combination or what dish you're in the mood for. read more

This place is amazing! Service, food, and decor/ambience all great. We loved the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Juices were amazing. We visited twice. We had chilaquiles (good), pancakes (too sweet), guacamole (amazing), lentil burger (tasty but plain). read more
