Absolutely loved the strawberries here! Although the parking lot was a bit muddy since it had just rained, it was worth the small trek. We got the 6-basket which was only $22 and I've thoroughly enjoyed them. I can't imagine how good they'll be when it's peak season. I would also love to do the U-pick!

Strawberry picking, finally crossed off my bucket list after so many years!! I never made time to look for a local patch or plan a long drive out somewhere to pick fresh strawberries, but today was the perfect day. Thanks to Gillian for posting her review of Yumm Strawberry's Elk Grove location today, I impulsively dragged my friend out with me to the West Sac location. We didn't really know what to expect but we ended up having more fun than expected while just hunting for cute tiny berries to take home! $4 a pre-picked basket. $3 entry if you want to enter the strawberry patch to pick your own strawberries. When you're done picking, it's $2.50/lb for whatever you pick. Just ate some and they're so delicious! Wish I had experienced this sooner, but never too late to start!

Fun stop for the family in the summer. You can buy a season pass for entry, fill a bucket or not, or pay to enter and fill a bucket...or not. Either way you pay by pound for the strawberries you pick. There is other produce to buy at the stand, sometimes even strawberry plants. Park on dirt or gravel and stroll around, maybe meet a neighbor cat or bump into one of your own neighbors! The strawberries we picked were a good price, but I would just get what we could use or eat for a day or two since they go bad quickly.

The price was great! $3/pp for strawberry picking and $2.20 a pound with buckets provided. We went early May and the strawberries seems pretty small. The field was a good size but we were not able to fill our buckets because the strawberries that were big was bruised and the ones that's in good condition was smaller. Maybe all the goods ones were already picked? We still had a good time and the strawberries we did find were sweet. I would suggest maybe limiting the days for strawberry picking because we were a little disappointed we couldn't pick a lot and the selection we had wasn't the best. The parking lot was difficult to get in and out if there is a lot of people going during the weekend. I think maybe we just went during a really busy time.

We pass this strawberry stand up often. When I finally saw the OPEN sign out, I had to stop by. We didn't realize it was a U-Pick strawberry patch. Lucky for us they did have some already picked. It only took the lady a couple of minutes to put together our order. My daughter also wanted to try the Strawberry and Honey jam they were selling. The Strawberries were the best I've had in a while. My daughter also loved the jam. We will definitely come back to pick our own strawberries next time. It's such a cute place. The prices were also very reasonable.

Cute little (mainly) strawberry farm in West Sac. Decent prices too. Most of the other fruit and vegetables come from different sources. If you want, you can pick your own strawberries or just buy pre-picked ones by the basket. I will definitely return. Such a cute little urban oasis! I bought two baskets of blueberries, one of strawberries, one of cherry tomatoes and a couple huge green onions for $19. Not bad at all! Relaxing place too-not crowded when I went around 2:30p on a Saturday.

Later on, we found out that section was already out of season. As we walked farther, we finally saw much better cherries, but most of the good ones were way too high to reach and there were no ladders available. There were some lower branches, but the cherries there were not great in quality, so we ended up picking only around 3 lbs. We then decided to switch to the peach and nectarine area hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately there was barely anything good to pick. Most of the fruits were either overripe, damaged, or already picked over. Overall, it felt like the farm should have better guidance on which sections are still worth visiting before customers pay and spend time walking around in the heat. The staff was fine, but the overall fruit quality and picking experience were disappointing for us this visit.

I highly recommend this farm for cherry season…read more I went today (Saturday, May 7), which was the first day of cherry season at John Podesta Farms. Why did I rate them five stars? Let's find out. 1 star = organization 1 star = price 1 star = variety 1 star = customer service 1 star = bathrooms Here's the longer version. **Organization** I love how organized they are. You start by visiting their website and getting yourself on the notifications list. Then, when summer gets closer, they send you an initial text gauging your interest. If you're still interested, you get a second text asking you how many people you plan to bring and how many pounds you plan to pick. Then your final text is your reservation with directions, the liability waiver, instructions like bringing a bucket and a ladder, etc. This is the most organized place I've ever picked fruit at. As an organized person myself, I was very pleased. The only piece of information they don't tell you in the multiple communications that would be helpful is that they open at 9am. So, I showed up at 8:15 and had to wait. **Price** Where else can you get cherries for only $2/pound? Nowhere in California that I know of. Even if you add the price of gas for the round trip drive, I bet they're still cheaper. As a reference, they ask you to bring a 5-gallon bucket (you know the ones they sell paint in when you have to paint a house), and if you fill that bucket to the top, it only costs $60. **Variety** I picked only bing cherries while I was there because I was on a time limit, and I didn't have time to frolic, but I know they have bings, rainiers, brooks, and corals. **Customer Service** The owner of the farm is so helpful, upbeat, and friendly. He's got a great vibe that just gets you in a good mood. You can tell he's passionate about the cherries, and that passion is contagious. **Bathrooms** I know, you're probably thinking, who gives an entire star for porta potties? Let me tell you who. The adult woman who has a bladder the size of a toddler's, that's who. And it's not just the fact that they have porta potties that makes me happy, but there's also a hand washing station with soap and paper towels to dry your hands. During a pandemic, that's a really nice touch, don't you think? (worth an entire star, amiright?) So, there you have it. 5 stars for this cherry orchard. I will definitely be back.

Although, it was a bit of a drive for us coming from Sacramento/Elk Grove we were able to maximize our time there. The strawberry farm is family owned and located not too far from other businesses in the area if you wanted to find something to eat or find somewhere else to hang out afterwards. There was a food truck, Laopino, that had delicious lumpias, music, a bubble machine, plus a few games and activities to keep the little ones occupied, and shaded tables to enjoy your fresh harvests. :) Tickets are only available online. Weekend tickets are released on Thursdays at 7 pm. When choosing our date and time it shows we only had an hour to pick but really we got to take our time and enjoy our morning. I feel they show you have a one hour slot to help stagger guests in. I love how they had a little gift shop set up, another tent with fresh flowers, drinks, and beautiful cookies at the register to purchase. The strawberry fields had plenty to choose from. We saw lots of bright red ones varying from all sizes. The staff also informed us there were 6 types of strawberries being grown!
